10.6.8 printing issues in PDF

Printing problems continue! Everything worked fine before the 10.6.8 upgrade. I read all the stuff about update v1.1 and that did not fix my problems.
Q: How do you know if V1.1 of OS 10.6.8 is installed?   Apple says that SW update will ensure you have the latest fix.   I am losing confidence that is true since I still can't print.
Q: I finally got something in Powerpoint to print but still can't get anything in Adobe reader to print a PDF file?   Any suggestions?
Q: How do i go back to 10.6.7 ?   This is insane since there is no chance I am upgrading to Lion after reading all the problems with it.

Open the Software Update preference pane in System Preferences. Select the Installed Software tab. You will be able to see if the update is installed.

[Applet]Printing issue with pdf files on Xerox 4595

Greetings !!
I'm trying to print to a Xerox 4595 printer from a Windows XP station (limited account) using a Java Web Applet.
This applet generates pdf files which have to be printed.
The Xerox 4595 uses a printing queue that is detected by the Applet.
The problem is the following: usually when printing a simple local file from this computer there is a box that asks you your login to let you create a job and then print.
When using the Java Applet, there is no way to have this print box displayed. We have the Java Print Dialog but once clicked on "Print" there is no box displayed to pass the login to the printer and let us print.
Is anyone already worked with Xerox 4595 and experienced such issue ?
How can I, using the Java language and modify the Applet, ask the printer to send me the dialog box asking for the login ? Without this login no jobs are accepted and we can't print the generated pdf files.
I looked on the printer queue settings and it seems that the Xerox uses the IPP to communicate with the local computers in the office.
The server from which the Applet is used is a openSuSE Linux Web server (apache2)
How come using Linux workstations any pdf files are printed (on shared printers such HP laserjet) and under windows there is jammed characters and sheet feed instead ?

A lot can depend upon which app your are using on your tablet device, the same applies to computer programs but apps are much worse.
Which app are you using?
I would try the free Adobe Mobile Reader. This product seems to support more features than other apps.
There could even be issues with the type of tablet you are using. The Apple line may work better then Android devices since there is QA check and approval by Apple.
Another factor is the how the PDF was created.
How well are the maps displayed on your laptop or desktop? Try different values of zoom.

Printing Issues with PDF

When trying to print an open PDF doc, created from InDesignCC, a box appears asking to PRINT To File, and asks to save already saved doc. Once hit save, anyway, the program then does not respond.
I can print if I close the open doc and access it from when it appears inside a folder by right clicking, but unable to change print settings in this mode.

What program are you using to print?

Formatting Issues When Printing from a PDF

I am currently using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 in Windows 7. I have been printing or saving documnts as PDF's without issues until today. I have created a document in Microsoft Publisher and have saved it as a PDF. When I open that document, it appears on screen just as the original file in Publisher. My issues are when I print from the PDF document. When I print from the PDF, the formating for footers is not saved. For example. I might have a blank page with a page number at the top and a footer containing my company name on the bottom of the page. When I print that page, the page number is where it is suppose to be, but the footer is moved to right under the page number at the top of the page. I have been printing PDF from Publisher for years using these same versions of Adobe and Publisher. Does anyone know why the formatting is not printing correctly?

Issue with printing Indesign exported PDF in Chrome

I have created a file in CS6 and exported it to a two sided PDF. This PDF works when printing from the PDF.
I have uploaded it as a document link on a website and when clicking on the link it opens in a separate window. If people use Internet Explorer or download the file the PDF and print it it looks perfect.
If the user is using Google Chrome only a section of the PDF prints at a large size. It looks like it thinks the PDF is an A3 so only prints the bottom left hand corner.
Things I have already tried - which all have the same issue.
Creating a brand new InDesign file and exporting reuploaded on the website
Saving it as a IDML file and exporting and reuploaded on the website
Had someone else export the file
Tried printing from google chrome outside the office
Checked no issues with the website backend
Checked with the IT company that services our systems.

Issue with PDF Printer in Acrobat 6.0 on windons 8

I use the PDF writer on acrobat. I had an Windows XP PC which died and the new PC is windows 8 (no xp available).
The s/w I have is Acrobat 6.0 standard it had issues w/ compatibility which I selected to load anyway.
It gave 3 errors all the same Warning 20225 A Acrobat 6.0 setup unable to create Adobr PDF Port Monitor, the PDF Printer may be unavailablr.
And it is.
I down loaded and installed the to updates
Ac60BaP1 and Acro-Reader_6.0.2_Update
Still has the issue.
Can you help me?
Is there a copy of 6.0 which would work I could download and use my license key on the disk I have.
Customer service could not help only upgrades from 9.0 and did not know the issue
I just need the PDF writer actually for my Resume print, currently looking for a job laid-off so money is tight.

You might be able to use Acrobat and Distiller, but the print driver and AcroTray will probably not work. For AA6 (assuming Acrobat and Distiller work), install a PS printer and set the port to FILE and change the name to Adobe PDF. Then when you print to the Adobe PDF printer (or use PDF Maker -- of course PDF Maker for AA6 will not work with OFFICE 2007 or later) you will create a PS file (probably have a PRN extension). Just open that file in Distiller to create a PDF. The 3rd party options are always there, but have pros and cons.

Unusual InDesign/PDF/Printer Issue

I am currently using InDesign CS3 and Acrobat Professional 8.
I received a CS4 file that I could not open from another designer, he saved it as a .inx file which opened in CS3. I made the changes to the document, relink the images, and when I would export to pdf, the images in the design will print with a faint box around them, when in fact they are images that are cutout (have no background). 3 images are .tiffs and one is a .psd. They all look fine on a computer screen, but when it prints, the box shows up. We printed the pdf on several different printers and on one printer there is a box around those images. On another printer the box is not there. I'm not sure if its an Indesign issue, PDF issue or a printer issue. I've tried exporting it as PDF/X-1a:2001, that didn't work.

The directory structure for the template files are the same for Desktop and Server.
When I open up the PDFs generated by both, doing a side by side comparision, the server looks blurry at 125% zoom level while desktop looks sharp.

Publisher to pdf - printing issues

Hi All
I have a double sided trifold publisher file that I am having issues with lines on the pix - converting to PDF sorts this - however when printing the pdf file
the alignment of objects centred on the trifold pages changes and the end result is therefore crooked.
Does anyone have any suggestions please ? Ive searched help but not found exact fix. Thanx

Are you using 11g DB? Did you check this:

Follow the steps mentioned in the Oracle Application Express Installation Guide, Enabling Network Services in Oracle Database 11g. Also refer to the troubleshooting section in case you receive an ORA-44416: Invalid ACL error after running the previous script.

PDF Print Issue

Hello ALL,
I'm stuck on an Issue w/ PDF printing for columns which has '&' (ampersands) in the data. I'm trying to escape the Ampersands in the SQL Query using the APEX_UTIL. URL_ENCODE, but the report doesn't show-up right.
I initially tried the replace with '%26amp;' , the PDF export works, but the IR report is messed-up. Can any of you guys shed some light on this ?

Which broswer and what OS? You might want to configure the browser to open pdfs in stand alone in AA rather than within the browser window, or v/v.

Issue with HelveticaNeue text not being included when printing to Adobe PDF?

I have a document (Word 2010 docx) with a section of HelveticaNeue text on the front page that when printing through Adobe PDF the text does not appear.
Using Acrobat 9.4.6
Tried the same document with:
Win2Pdf - Displays correctly
Converted to .doc - Displays correctly
File\Save as PDF - Dispalys correctly
Any ideas? I can post the document up here but I can't see an option to.

You can try disabling the “Rely on system fonts only: do not use document fonts” option in printer properties.
To do the same.In MS Word:
Goto File -> Print
Select Adobe PDF as printer.
Click on "Printer Properties".
Go to "Adobe PDF Settings" tab.
Uncheck the “Rely on system fonts only: do not use document fonts”
Click Ok and try printing the document
Also update your Acrobat to latest version 9.5.0.

PDF Color profile printing issue

I have a wierd and very enoying behaviour.. and after a lot of thinking I just can't find the answer :
I regulary create brochures and deliver them in PDF. When I print with Acrobat PRO 8.1.3 from my Laptop (OS 10.5.8) using the Generic CMYK Color Profil I get accurate results on a RICOH 5560/3320. When I print the same PDF from my desktop MacPro Acrobat 8.2.2 and OS 10.5.8 I get very grey looking colors and the print is way too saturated in the blacks. When I converts the colour space to the Ricoh-Profile colours it's almost fine.
I have checked the prefs and the Profil settings, they at identical. The PDF is not changed in any way between prints.
Any ideas of what's going on?

Well your "feeling" was right. I did some more testing which took some time. It was rather boring, but at the same time I understand better now. To manage the colour profile there is the ColorSync/Printer select switch in the Adobe print interface and another three possible settings in the printer driver (a Ricoh 5560, in my case). So that is where I need to set things up more consistently.
The latest driver problem is,that on the machine from a colleague the print margins are not the same as on my machine...printing from that machine the image is beeing cropped. But I guess that is another thread...

Why sudden onset print issue from Reader pdf files (all other programs printing fine)?

I am suddenly unable to print Adobe Reader pdfs. I am running Reader XI (11.0.05). Printing is fine in all other applications.

What OS? What printer? Did you install any updates about the time this behavior manifested itself? How about error messages? Can you give us any exact error message?

Unable to Generate Printed Documentation in PDF Format

This past week I started having a consistent error when attempting to generate a Printed Documentation layout. This error reads "Internal error encountered, Failed to generate Printed Documentation." Prior Printed Documentation builds on this same project completed fine. Nothing was done to the Help project between the times when this worked and when it no longer was able to create Printed Documentation.
I receive this error even if I generate an entirely new "blank project" build, and then attempt to create a Printed Documentation build from this new blank project. Researching this error, I see this has been a reoccuring problem with this product for some time. The few threads that list the problem as having been "fixed" provide resolution steps that have not worked in my case. Right now I am waiting for our IT Helpdesk people to re-install the Suite. Hopefully this will resolve this problem.
Additional information on this problem - PDF Printed Documentation is failing - the HTML build works fine. If I select just a .DOC Printed Documentation output, this also works correctly. The resulting Word document looks good, although hyperlinks do not work within this Word document. I have reloaded Office 2003 as a troubleshooting effort, but this has nbot resulted in any change in symptoms.
The entire error text is enclosed below, although several other people have also done this in past entries. The few lines that read "Warning, and then report a style issue is NOT the problem here. As stated earlier, when I do this same Printed Documentation build on an entirely new "blank project" it does not work, and the Output text in that case does not contain any such "Warnings" about Styles.

If I select ONLY the Word DOC Output format in the Printed Documentation
setup, the output is created without an error (output text below). Links do work within
this Word document (a symptom change since installing patch 8.0.2).
When I use this Word document to create a PDF (using the Adobe PDF
printer driver) a PDF is successfully created, however no bookmarks are
created in the bookmarks panel and none of the links in this PDF work
(although they are created looking like they will work, i.e., blue
underlined text).

Need help diagnosing cause of printing issue w/ image distortion

Hello, I'm looking for some expert advice for my print issue with image distortion (see above) on my files once setup and proofed by my printer.
I have a large PSD background file out of photoshop (CMYK, 170mb psd) that is being placed into an InDesign document. No preflight errors, all correct SWOP cmyk settings, and I keep having issues where images distort on my printers proofs - they seem unable to explain the issue and can't offer any other suggestions beyond ("just try resaving/uploading again" which of course has an added fee with each upload...).
The files are all fine on our end: on-screen, on our cmyk proofs, and our saved PDFs/packaged files. But everytime our printer opens these they seem to have these distorted image problems - scrambled images (almost as if there was a ghosted transparent image in the distorted area), strange lines (see above, and color distortion (usually greens and pinks, see above).
Is this an issue with my settings/file formats? Maybe the issue lies on our printers end? I'll keep checking this throughout the day and provide quick answers to anyone who can help me get to the bottom of this.
Adobe forums have been a huge help in years past so I decided this was by best bet for a resolution from those who know more than myself (or my printer), thanks for taking the time to help!

HP Officejet 4500 Wireless Printing Issues with Online Maps & Financial Institutions

I have an HP Officejet 4500 Wireless printer that I have wireless connection to my HP G72 Laptop running Windows 7 (64 bit) with Internet Explorer 9. I am having trouble printing online maps from either Bing Maps or Google Maps. It seems the print jobs get stuck in the print que and always show an indefinite status of “Printing” in the que but never get printed.
I’ve tested my other applications including Office 2010 and all other jobs seem to print just fine. I do use the “Print” button located in each of the online Map sites (Bing, Google). This is when the jobs get stuck.
I do also have the HP Bing Bar installed with Smart Print. The Smart Print feature seems to work with the online maps just fine (seems I’ll just use it instead).
Another separate printing issue is that I can never get any of my online financial transactions to print from any of my online financial institutions with either the Internet 9 print features or the HP Bing Smart Print feature. I can never get those to print (have to wait for the PDF statements to be available).
Any ideas as to why I can print the maps or online financial transaction? I get no error messages either.
