10.6.8 update keyboard issues

ever since i did this update my keyboard has been going crazy -_-
sometimes the following keys stop working untill i reset the pram and SMC
*RFV4* all the keys stop working tell i reset the pram and smc
its starting to get very annoying -_- im using a macbook air late model with 10.6.8 and japanese keyboard
any reason im having this issue?

Snow Leopard Update Keyboard Issue

i recently updated my mac pro from ~2007 to snow leopard (finally!) and have encountered a fairly serious problem. Everything seems to work fine, but there are a few instances in which my keyboard fails to read my typing: in Spotlight and, most importantly, when the OS asks me for my root password for system updates.
The prompt appears, and I can alter my user name all I want, but when I try to type in the password box, it remains blank. I cannot copy and paste into it. I thought it may have been an issue with the drivers for my microsoft keyboard, but I attached a brand new apple keyboard and it had the same problems in the same places.
My keyboard works in safari, pages, word, and in the finder search, and everywhere else I've tested. Any ideas why this could be happening? I was not able to do a clean install because my backup is currently unreliable, if that's information you ideas. Any responses would be greatly appreciated, as this has seriously dampened my excitement for the new OS... it's basically unusable if I cannot update anything, and I suspect I may have the same problem if I tried to install something requiring the root password.

What you describe sounds like a hardware issue. Unfortunately, you'll need to get that checked out by Apple. If you have an Apple Store near you, make an appointment with the Genius Bar and take the machine in for evaluation.

Textfield and keyboard issues

I have been hitting wall figuring out keyboard issues.
- As I have been experimenting, you can not do select on texts unless the text is input type. Please correct me if I am wrong. This actually invokes the virtual keyboard. Is there anyway to disable the virtual keyboard?
- When you tap on dynamic and input text fields and try to type something, the texts will become 200% bigger. What's explanation behind this? Any way to keep it normal?
I really appreciate if someone can help me out here. Thanks in advance.

- Just tested. To avoid text become bigger 200% go to Anti-Alias option and choose "Use Device fonts". Alternative, you can use TextInput component too.

MacBook Pro 10.4.11 keyboard issue (beaten path??)

When my MacBook Pro starts up or wakes up, some keys, specifically q,w,e,r,t,y,u,i,o, and the left Shift key, don't respond. The duration of the problem is quite unpredictable; a few minutes to maybe up to 30 minutes. If I wait long enough they become responsive eventually. When I bought it in 2007 I didn't have this problem. I think it started ~1 year after the purchase.
From googling I found out that many MacBook Pro owners were having similar problems. These are mostly with version 10.5 and many people seem to agree that this is a Leopard-specific issue, but I've also seen a few people complaining about similar keyboard issues with 10.4. I also found out that Apple released some sort of a keyboard software update to fix these problems. However, that update requires 10.5, and mine is 10.4.11.
This week I finally took my computer to the Apple store and showed it to a 'Genius'. He said he was not familiar with this problem, and when I mentioned the keyboard software update, he hooked up some sort of cable and ran 10.5 on my computer, but the computer in that state didn't find any keyboard updates (at least that's how I understood his explanation). Therefore, he concluded that this is a hardware problem and that the machine needs a repair.
Now, I don't question the Genius' superior knowledge to mine, but I still can not believe it's not a software problem. If it is hardware problem, how come it occurs always/only after the computer wakes up? Is it coincidence that the symptom is so similar to the known software problem?

I'm having a similar problem although I am not trying to upgrade my version. Certain keys don't work on the built-in keyboard: delete, space bar, caps lock, quotes-apostrophe key...I have to use the "keyboard viewer" to use these particular keys. My adapter is connected to the computer, but the problem persists.
Can anyone please suggest troubleshooting for this annoying problem? It has been like this for about 2 weeks now.
Any suggestions will be appreciated!

I seem to be having keyboard issues

i just start typing and after a while look up at my screen and only half the sentence is there...for some reason its not registering the entire sentence

I'm having the same problem on a 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro. It seems to be happening since I installed the recent EFI firmware update. I also have another issue where my screen just goes black and the machine becomes unresponsive. The only way to bring it back to life is to hold down the power button until it shuts down, then turn it back on again.
Can I just ask why repairing disk permissions might solve the keyboard issue? How is that related?

Hi I'm using a Windows 7 laptop and I'm frequently having keyboard issues, especially when I'm playing video games, the keyboard would suddenly freeze up and stop working entirely, the temporary fixes that I've had so far are, locking then unlocking my
laptop, and restarting, its been happening really frequently and its really starting to get annoying, additionally, I'm finding that Windows Update itself is causing me a lot of issues, I had it on auto install whenever a new update comes up but then I'd start
getting audio problems, where the sound stops working entirely, and I have to go through a lot of trouble just to get it working again. Does anyone have ideas as to how I can fix this? Thanks!

It seems that you have two issues and they both related to the device. Are all of the keyboard , mouse and audio device USB devices?
please follow these steps to have a troubleshoot:
1.Run the built-in troubleshoot tool to have a diagnostic. Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\Hardware and Sound
2. Update the device driver or reinstall the device from the Device Manager .If it is possible ,you may need to manually download the driver from the manufacturer website.
3.If the issue persists, update the chipset , and then reinstall the USB Controller from the Device Manager.
4.Reinstall the audio driver from the device manager or manually download the driver from the manufacturer website, too.
5.To verify whether this issue is caused by the device as Rick Dee said ,it is recommended to plug in the device to another machine to have a check if it is possible.

Z10 Keyboard Issue, Please Help

I am hoping that there might be someone here who can help a new blackberry user with a keyboard issue.
The issue is simply that the keyboard will not type anything, whether in emails texts, ect. The phone seems to be working perfectly normally and the keyboard even lets me press keys and plays the keystroke sound, except that it does not actually type anything into any fields.
I have researched this issue and found that for most people this is an issue with the spell checker except my "ignore words with numbers" is and has always been set to "on". (I have even tried turning this "off" and restarting, but it doesnt make a difference)
I have tried restarting the phone (numerouse times), taking out the battery and even hard reboot without any change. The keyboard still does not work.
Magnify mode is set to "off".
I am on the Koodo network in British columbia, Canada and have the latest update (10.1.0.4181).
Anyone have a suggestion?

Did you reboot (pull the battery) while powered on?
If you open the web browser and type in a search, does that enter the typing?

10.4.3 External Keyboard Issue

Greetings,
I seem to be having an external keyboard issue. To give some background, I am on a fresh install of OSX, completely patched up to 10.4.3 via software update. I just purchased an Apple USB Keyboard and after plugging in the keyboard I noticed something funny with the keyboard layout. The HOME key doesn't work and the END key is page down, plus delete doesn't work at all. I tried plugging in this keyboard to my PC and it works beautifully.
Now I believe this issue is being caused by the iBook using the cramped keyboard layout and not the full key layout of the external one I just installed. Every piece of help information I find on the subject either points me to menu options that don't exist (my Keyboard & Mouse -> Keyboard menu is quite clean with only 3 options to adjust typing speed) and some of the topics on these forums don't seem to cover it, any suggestions?

I just installed the 10.4.3 combo update and still no effect on the keyboard. A few help topics I found on this issue point me to changing the keyboard layout in international, but that isn't working at all. Some of the keyboard & mouse options the other help documents point to are missing as well. I have only 4 options for the keyboard options pane and none of them are about configuring an external keyboard so something must be wrong here.
I checked all the keys and it appears the iBook is recognizing the keyboard, however instead of modifying the input layout of the keyboard to the full size of the keyboard, it is applying the same key shortcuts that are on the iBook 12". So this means forward delete doesn't work, home and end are the same as page up and down. When I use control and any of the arrow keys I get the iBook key layout shortcuts such as page up/down and home/end.
Somewhere, I hope there is some kind of driver I can install to force the iBook to change the keyboard layout on my apple keyboard to a regular one instead of a shortcut version on the iBook.

Equium A60-692 with XP - keyboard issue

Since my last post 19 Feb I've spoke to lots of people about this problem but still no solution. Problem is......
When I switch on my laptop and it has booted up the keyboard will not operate and if I then restart the laptop it will shut down and reboot ... then every thing will work perfectly!!!!!!!
I've used the recovery disc, but had to get it loaded on the reboot as I couldn't load it on the first boot as there is no response from the keyboard.
Someone suggested I update the Bios which I had a go at, but not very sure I was successful with that.
This problem has been ongoing for sometime, and some recommended that I just live with it.
I have a feeling that it is a software problem and could be fixed.
If it is a hardware problem it may cost me more than the thing is worth.
Can anybody help save my sanity and throw any light on the problem?

I believe its a hardware (keyboard) issue and its advisable to test a new keyboard.
In such case the ASP should install new keyboard and should check the functionality...

Hp envy 14. Keyboard issues.

hey all,
ive been having an issue with my hp envy 14, with windows 7. This forum seemed the most relevent, as its a keyboard issue.
So whenever I turn my laptop on the keyboard is non-functional, so I turn it on with alt f5 I believe, this gets the key board functional, I can at this point type in my user password. Next as I type in my password, the capslock button has reversed itself, so when my keyboard shows caps on, caps is off and vice versa. Also, sometimes when im using my computer, it switches between recognizing caps is on or not.
I recently wiped the laptop, so I believe the issue to be internal.
This is frustrating to put it lightly, any help appreciated.

Since you mentioned that you just wiped the machine it is likely that some of the drivers are missing.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?

FSCM via WS-RM (without PI ) - Update termination issue

Hello experts .
We are trying to integrate SD with FSCM ( credit management) using WS-RM (without PI).
Details of the issue and steps followed so far.
Ideal Scenario :
Once we create / change a sales order ( in SD ) , the interface Creditworthinessquery_out (WS Consumer ) gets triggered (in SD) and the subsequent response CREDITWORTHINESSQUERY_IN(Provider) is triggered from FSCM (with the details of creditworthiness).Once the query response in received an notification is triggered from SD to FSCM (asynchronous service).
After receiving the query response the functionality of credit check happens while creating / changing the sales order .
Configuration steps followed in SOAMANAGER
We have created end points for all the relevant service interfaces (Providers) , and also created logical ports for the respective consumers.
During the creation of logical ports - for the consumers we used the WSDL (of the providers) as the inbound message action.
(This has been done to all the services query , notification that are relevant in our integration).
Current behavior / issue .
While creating sales order the sales order is not getting saved (getting updated in the database).System allows us to complete the sales order creation process and also we get a message as sales order saved successfully. But then there is a update terminated express document that pops up. Sales order is not getting updated in the database.
When I see the logs/traces in SOAMANAGER I see that the query out is successful , query in has the right response (in warning state though) . But no notification is being triggered ?? 
How to overcome this update termination issue ?
When we see the SM13 log , it points to SLD issue (LCR 010: Internal error in SLD API). why do we need a SLD without PI

Finally we are able to solve the update termination issue . But again we are using a work around .
Situation :
Once we executed the VA01 transaction we were getting update termination issue . After lots of debuggung we found that system was trying to get the Business system details ( Own business system data ) . The table lcrt_clntcache had no values.
Solution
We inserted appropriate values in the Table LCRT_CLNTCACH (business system data ) and now it works .This is a work around we got as of now.Credit checks are happening successfully and also integration is good .
(typically if we define business system in SLD (PI) , and run SLD_CHECK , this table gets populated , but in our case we are not using PI instead we are using WS-RM)
But now few questions arise .
a) Why do we need a business system in case we are not using PI ( typically we define business system and technical system in PI ) and instead using WS-RM ?
b) Is it a good practice to update the table ( as did in workaround above )?
c) Is this any bug and needs to be consulted with SAP ?
Please let me know your views .

I have a MacBook Pro 13-inch Mid 2010 upgraded to Mac OS X 10.8. It now has keyboard issues. Keys F4, 4, r, f, v, caps lock, space bar, and directional keys left and down do not work. I've been looking into the problem thinking it could be a software issue. Can anyone help?

You need to install the Windows support software in Windows to make it run properly. You have to download and install these drivers in Windows > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1630?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
After installing them, I recommend you to look for a newer GPU driver

Keyboard issue in Macbook Pro

Hi,
I have a 15" MacBook Pro and today it developed a keyboard malfunction...the keys around the 'w' key (a, s, d, e) also insert a w when pressed with anything but the lightest touch...probably a bit of dirt or something in the keyboard, is there a way of getting the keyboard out to have a look? or other suggestions as to why this happens? it's very irritating!

I too have an issue w/ my Macbook Pro keyboard (2nd time since I've owned it) although this one isn't quite as severe as the one reported.
I started noticing over the past couple of weeks that when I type, I start hearing this odd "click" sound every once in a while. As I started to pay more attention to it, it appears that every time I hit the letter 'E', it sounds like the plastic beneath the key is loose or breaking (?). They key itself feels loose and I'm worried that its going to pop off. (this has happened on my Dell Inspiron a few times and its been an annoying issue ever since as it regularly pops off now).
Is this something covered under Applecare? (my previous keyboard issue was a couple of dead keys including the spacebar that required a new keyboard).
Also (side question), when I go to the concierge page to setup a time to visit an Apple Genius, there's GUEST and MEMBER login. Is Member login for those who have Applecare? If so, then what would the member number be? The Applecare agreement # doesn't seem to take.
