10.6 / Epson problem

PLEASE can someone help?
I have re-installed all my printer drivers several times, and also tried Gutenberg. However my Epson D120 still will not work on my mac, even though it did previously - I now get the same error message all the time -
Error: /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Contents/MacOS /rastertoescpll failed
It's now driving me nuts.... I'm not sure if it has anything to do with me previously removing 2 of the very annoying Epson pop-up files some months ago (ink levels etc). It still worked then, but since I installed 10.6 I keep getting this message on the print-queue file whatever I do.
Help please!
Ta, Tim

  • I'm trying to get the image to print correct size.  i've tried center image, fit to media image,  and they all come out the same size...smaller than the size in "image size".  is this an Epson problem or Photoshop problem.  Thanks!

I just got a new printer...Epson R3000...but have had this problem before.  It's probably a simple fix, but I can't figure it out.  I'm asking for printing on 8.5 x 11 and the image comes out 6.5 x 9.5 every time.  Help please!  And thanks!

The Epson site stated that the R3000 printer can print borderless however the quality will suffer in the expanded print area. Borderless is not supported on some heavy paper.  To me the means your better off limiting you images size to the standard print area. There will be magins about 1/8" on the four  sides so the print area on 8.5"x11" paper is 8.26" x 10.76"....
Take note of the print size set by the epson driver it may change depending on the paper type set. Note my first epson 4800 setup where I set 8.5" x 11" sheet paper from tray into the printer setting the driver set a smaller size for the paper which was reflected into the Photoshop Print preview. It shows paper is 8.499" x 10.999 with a small unprintable area across the top....

  • My Adobe XI only shows gray pages when I try to scan to my drive from an Epson WF-3540.  The file shows it is a multiple kb pdf file.  To read it I have to e-mail it to myself and let online mail reader open it.  Can scan jpg and tiff with no problem.

Is there a compatibility issue with Adobe Reader XI 11.0.10 and the pdf scan program fro an Epson WF-3540 All In One?  Is it an Epson Problem?  Is it because the "source" shown in Properties from an Epson is a PDF 5.xx file?  I can't understand why I can e-mail the item and get it to appear in the online Adobe reader, but if I try to save it to my computer drives it comes out with blank (gray) pages again. Is it a Win7 problem?  Help I have a lot of scanning to do and only know everything was fine until about ten days to two weeks ago.  Don't know if an update for Epson, Win7, or Adobe might be problem.

Thank you very much.! Two weeks of very frustrating uninstalls, reinstalls, cursing, moaning and  thinking about buying a new scanner all solved with the check in the box.  I have no idea how it got unchecked, as I never mess around with things that work.  Incidentally, I got a "Fraud Detection Alert" on ~grafitti's message.  When I went to the Adobe page and read the answer, I could not find the "Correct" button anywhere.  Please see that ~grafitti gets some more points.
    Again,  Thank You!

  • PSE 9 printing problem with Epson printer

    hello there,
I am using PSE 9  with Windows XP and Epson 3880 printer. I have re-installed all programs/drivers a couple of times. PSE9 Printer dialogue will not let me print choosing "Let Photoshop Manage Colour".  It will only let me print with "Let Printer Manage Colour".  I am using Epson papers.
When I select "Let Photoshop Manage Colour", a box appears saying "ICC profile no longer available" and it won't let me print.  Is this a PSE 9 problem or an Epson problem?
    thanks !!!

Well, I actually found the answer. I spoke to an Epson Rep!
I used to have the Epson 2200 printer, then the Epson 3800, and now I use the 3880 printer on Windows XP and Windows 7 on my laptop.
When you uninstall the other 2 printers, the color profiles are still in your program files and can become corrupted.
This is why, in PSE 9, when I checked the box Let Photoshop Elements Manage Colour, it woildn`t print and instead there was the pop-up box ``ICC profile no longer available`` because it was trying to access the old paper profiles and not the ones that came with the 3880. I use Epson papers, by the way.
The solution was to go into C-Drive, Program Files, System 32, spool, drivers, colour, and this opens to the ICC profiles used by the printer. Then I deleted the old paper profiles associated with my former printers.
    And it worked !!

  • Color management problems Epson 4000

I have installed the latest (3.0.9) drivers for my Epson SPro 4000 and I am using Leopard. The printer works, That is it responds to the computer (MacBook Pro), but it prints like it is not recognizing the printer profiles I select in Photoshop or Lightroom. When I print the same files using another, older computer running OS 10.4, with the older drivers using the same profiles and printer settings as I used on the Leopard computer, the prints look fine. I removed the old driver, restarted the computer after installing the new one and added it in the Print & Fax section of the system prefs. What am I missing?
Is it a Leopard thing, an Epson problem, or have I left something out of the set up.
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Peter,
Sorry to say you are out of luck, it seems. This has been discussed at length on the Adobe Lightroom forums, and seems to be a problem with the new printing infrastructure in Leopard needing new drivers in oder for Cocoa based applications to print correctly. Carbon based applications (such as Photoshop) will print fine, but newer apps like Lightroom will not.
Epson has said that they will NOT create new drivers for the 4000.
However it seems to me that Apple should have provided some backward compatibility for those printers that do not have a (latest and greatest) driver that is fully compatible with Leopard.

  • Problems printing from Epson Stylus Pro 700

I just upgraded to CS4. Now I can't print from Adobe Indesign on my Epson Stylus Pro 7800. It will print from photoshop. I upgraded the printer driver, but that didn't help. Other applications such as Word will print. When I click on the printer monitor, it says printer ready. The print job is "stopped." When I click on resume it says "Operation could not be completed." What can I do to fix this?
    Kate

Yes, I've contacted epson. At first the computer wouldn't recognize that the 7800 printer was attached. My 1400 printer was working. I replaced the firewire cable on the 7800, per instructions from Epson, with a USB. That fixed the first problem. Then when I was printing in Adobe, I couldn't choose a paper type. We tried downloading a driver upgrade, and running disk utility(Epson tech still). That fixed that problem. Now I can choose a paper type in the print dialogue box, but when I tell the printer to print, the dialogue box says printing stopped. If I select resume, It tells me client error, not possible. I also spent about an hour on the phone with Adobe trying to solve this problem. Epson says it's an Adobe problem, and Adobe says it's an Epson problem! Currently, I can print in photoshop and indesign, but not pdf files on either printer. On Friday, at some point, I was able to print pdfs, but not photoshop or InDesign. Unfortunately I didn't write down exactly when that was, as I didn't realize at that time, that I wouldn't be able to print pdfs later on. I appreciate any help you can give me.

  • Epson Workforce 500 and HP  OfficeJet Pro 8500 - "Printer Offline"

This week I downloaded an Epson printer driver update from Apple's Software Update. I use an Epson Workforce 500 with my Mac Mini computer at my office. Since installing Snow Leopard originally I had experienced no problems with the printer but assumed that if Apple was telling me to install a driver update, I should do so. Big mistake!
After installing the driver update I was unable to print anything. When attempting to print a page from Safari or MIcrosoft Word, everything initially seemed ok, until I saw my printer icon bouncing in the Dock with a yellow symbol indicating "Printer Offline." After searching the Apple site and various discussion boards I spent an entire afternoon attempting all of the recommended fixes with no results. Since I cannot operate my business without a printer, I decided to simply purchase a new printer hoping that this was simply an Epson problem.
I am now the proud owner of an HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 Premier All-in-One. Unfortunately I am still suffering from the "Printer Offline" message whenever I attempt to print anything. After spending another afternoon on the phone with a tech support person from HP, I am still unable to print. I have done all of the following:
Disconnected and reconnected all cables between the computer and the printer.
Switched the USB cable to a different USB port on the computer.
Restarted the computer and the printer.
Unplugged and replugged the computer to reset it.
Checked to confirm that the printer does show up under USB on the System Profiler.
Deleted any old print jobs in the print queue and made certain that the printer was not in pause mode.
Tried to print from various programs with the same result.
Although this printer does appear in the printer list, deleted it and then added it again under the Printer and Fax area of System Preferences.
Uninstalled the HP printer driver, restarted the computer, downloaded HP's latest driver for this computer from their website under the instruction of HP's tech support person and reinstalled this driver and again performing all of the above.
    Repaired disk permissions several times.
Reset the printing system under the Printer and Fax area of System Preferences.
I have been unable to find any further possible fixes in any of the discussion boards either on the Apple or the HP site. After doing everything listed here the HP tech support person felt that the problem must be with Apple rather than HP since the problem developed initially after the Epson printer update and then occurred with both the Epson and the HP printers.
I have an appointment later today with an Apple Genius at my local Apple store to see if I can get any advice. Any suggestions from anyone on this board would be greatly appreciated since I do need my printer to carry on in my business. At this point I am desperate to the point of considering the replacement of my computer but am hesitant to do so suspecting that the new models should be released soon.

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Try downloading and installing the 10.6.1 combo update. It's OK to do this even though you are already running 10.6.1. One of the "fixes" .. "some printer compatibility drivers not appearing properly in the add printer browser"
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL930
Make sure and repair disk permissions after the installation.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
Always make sure your Mac has sufficient disk space available.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.*

  • Severe new onset printing problem with Photoshop CS 5.1 on a MAC OS 10.7.5.

I have both Epson Stylus 7890 and smaller R2400 printers.   Everything working perfectly until 3 days ago when trying to print on the 7890 and all that happens is lines of “jibberish” patterns on the page that vaguely appear related to the print.   Have wasted about 6 feet of roll paper trouble shooting this with multiple different pics.   Everything prints fine from CS5.1 on the P2400, and other programs (Word, View NX2, etc) print fine on the 7890 – appears to be some conflict with CS5 and Epson 7890.    Thought it might be a corrupted printer driver so I deleted the Epson Files, deleted the printers, emptied the trash, then re-installed the driver from Epson with the same results.    Very frustrating – hours and hours trying to fix this.

Thanks for your response.   I may not have emphasized in my initial outline that all my other programs print fine on the Epson 7890; only printing from Photoshop is problematic.  Do you still think it is an Epson problem?

  • Printing problem with 8.0.  videos printing on paper

I have used acrobat 6.0 for years, and have made many forms for my customers. When I made these forms with 6.0 I put videos on the forms to explain how to use the forms then when they print them the videos are not printed. However now that I have purchased acrobat 8.0 these forms are printing the videos on the paper. I do not know why this was not available on 8.0 as it was on 6.0. Why was this not continued from 6.0 to 8.0. Is there a hot fix or something that can solve this problem for me? Has anyone else came across this problem? any help would be appreciated. Thank You.

Thanks for your response.   I may not have emphasized in my initial outline that all my other programs print fine on the Epson 7890; only printing from Photoshop is problematic.  Do you still think it is an Epson problem?

  • Epson 810 printer unable to view photos on iMac

I recently purchased an Epson Artisan 810 and connected it wirelessly. The printer connects to the iMac OS X 10.5.8 and is able to print, but it is unable to transfer pictures from my memory card to my mac. My memory card is a Memory Stick Pro Duo, 2 GB, the camera is a Sony Cyber-shot. The info from Epson is that a Memory Card icon should show on my desktop,it does not. And according to Epson, since I can see the pics on the Epson screen, I should be able to see them on my Mac. After spending over 45 minutes with an 2 Epson techs, they gave up and said the problem is with my iMac and that I had to call Apple because it is their problem. I did call Apple tech support, but their opionion is that it is an Epson problem, not an apple problem. I don't know whose problem it is except mine, but my cheap old HP never had a problem allowing me to see my pics on my iMac. I have tried installing and uninstalling both wireless and usb drivers, but neither allows a working Memory Icon on the desktop nor any way to view the photos. Sorry for the length of this request. Any help would be appreciated.

There was another thread on this very same problem some time back; from what I remember, it was not resolved. For one thing, it could very well have something to do with the fact that you have it connected wirelessly; have you tried connecting the printer with a USB cable to see if it works then?
If you are not wanting to print the pics while the card is inserted in the printer, may I suggest what would be a much easier and simpler solution: download the pictures to your Mac and then control the pictures (and the printer) from there. You could use a USB card reader (very inexpensive), insert it and download them directly - why go through another device.

  • Epson Perfection 2480 photo scanner

Just got a new iMac running Snow Leopard. I have a problem getting my scanner to work, Scanner is a Epson Perfection 2480 Photo. I have down loaded the latest driver from Epson. If I try to run the scanner from finder I get the following message.
The application “Epson Scan” could not be launched because of a sheared library error: “<EPSON Scan> < EPSON Scan> < TWAIN Source Manager.Shlb> ”
The scanner will not work in any applications giving error messages when trying to find it.
However in system Preferences you find the scanner in Printer & Fax and if you open it from there you can scan to the Desktop, Documents Folder etc.
    Will scan from Image Capture
I have spoken to Epson and Apple
I think the problem must be the “shared library error” But having spent the best part of 2 days on the phone to various people I am no further forward.
Epson say is a Apple problem
Apple say is a Epson problem
    Any help would be appreciated

I have looked at this again. If you go applications, epson scan, more info it shows application as powerPc version 2.73 try to run it from applications and you get sheared library error as detailed in previous post.
Go to joe, library. printers and there is a 2480/2580 scanner, more info on that shows application universal version 6.4 and allows you to select 32bit and to open using rosetta this will open and scan.
When you run from system preferences this is what is opening not the version 2.77 downloaded from epson. Is this where the shared library error is and if so how do I solve it, have tried deleting v2.77 but scanner still will not run in Word etc. tried deleting v6.4 still no go.
Also if you go Mac HD,library, image capture, twaine data sources the epson v2.77 appears and not v6.4 in there but in devices there is epson scanner app. version5.2.5. Getting nowhere fast

  • Problem centering page when printing: Lion and CS 5

Just installed Apple's Lion. Am running Illustrator CS 5.
Went to print a file, chose the center on page option from the new icon in Adobe's Print dialog box. The page does not print centered on the paper. It prints way off!
I can get the page to print to fit the page, borderlessly, which is what I would like to do now; but, I have to select the option to fit in the upper left corner. I am now anticipating problems in the future when I simply want to print a page centered.
This could be an Adobe, Apple, or Epson problem (I have an Epson Stylus Photo 1400); or a combination.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does it happen on other apps? Is there a place to report bugs to Adobe?

Good call! After your post, I did run Software Update, but the only thing there was an iTunes update. I do recall seeing an Epson printer update in the last day or two; but, I don't recall which of my computers called for it. In any case, on this computer, after checking Software Update and finding nothing, there is still an issue printing centered pages from Illustrator CS 5 15.0.2.

  • Adobe CS3, Mac & Epson 1400 Printing Color Issues

So I've been reading the forums for some help on getting my new Epson 1400 to print colors properly and my attempts to send just PDF's to the printer also fail on color matching. Stuff sent to an actual press come out fine with the colors I'm working with through Illustrator, In Design and Acrobat, but when I try to print at home, I can't get a setting that works consistently from attempt to attempt. I have downloaded and updated the latest drives from Epson's site (but they are gibberish to me, GPHW? PSPP?) to no avail. It was suggested to print from Acrobat when all else fails, but I'm still having a heck of a time getting anything to remotely match a print done a week ago or more if the pantone colors are used.
So, I'm using 10.5.8 on a Dual processor, powerpc G5 with max memory and significant hard drive space. The printer is the Epson 1400. Any suggestions welcomed on how to get accurate color.. unfortunately it's critical because my own business collateral seems to shift to an awful color - the rest of my projects could probably get by, but not my business materials!
I believe I've tried every possible combination of settings on Acrobat and InDesign to try to get correct color with the supplied Epson printer profiles. What's funny is I used to have a low-end epson installed, like a 380 or something, and when I used those profiles, it got better color. I accidentally deleted them and can't figure out what might work better. I'm guessing some other printer's profiles might just work more effectively... And it sounds like upgrading to CS4 won't help (and might make things worse) .... is this a CS problem, or an Epson problem, or a mac problem???
    Help!

I have been rather fortunate, I have been getting excellent color matching on my Epson.
I am wondering about your settings when printing to the Epson, since that can make a difference in how the color is translated when printing.
You say the prints come out accurately when sent to the printer - BUT, you have also stated that this is from an actual press. Pantone colors do not always look the same when printed out in process, there can be a HUGE color shift. If your printer has one, look at his Pantone solid to process book so you can see the differences in your chosen colors.
I did look at yours and there is only a slight color shift, have you checked your CMYK settings for your spot colors on your computer? I remember having that issue before. The CMYK value I have for 3155 in my Pantone Solid to process is C:100 M:0 Y:24 K:38 and 397 is C:10 M:0 Y:100 K:11. If your printer has these settings, then their colors will be more accurate if they are double checking to make sure the correct pantone formula is being used.
In your print settings, are you printing a proof? what are you choosing for the Color Handling? I have been using Document RGB - sRGB IEC61966-2.1 with good luck. You may need to try those and see which profile works best for you.
    Hopefully this helps some.
Message was edited by: macgurl_70    I forgot to ask, it reads like you are having them printed on an offset press - the pantone colors will always be more vivid and correct since they are using a specially formulated ink and not a cmyk (or rgb) mix of colors. Also, when they are printing - the plates will print the spot color as one plate for that specific ink - and NOT four plates for the CMYK, giving them the most accurate color. No matter what printer you choose, it will not print EXACT pantone colors, so check on the shift in that pantone guide (I didn't see much of one, but they were definitely not as vivid).
Update: I just installed the Gutenprint drivers for my Epson, so my InDesign would print out correctly on large sheets of paper. I am working on color calibrating the output with that driver now.

  • Printing problem - IMac G5 PPC

I have a 2nd hand G5, PPC chip, OS X 10.4.11. It has a printing problem. It wont send any jobs to print to either of my printers. (Kadak ESP 5210 - wifi conn, or EPSON Photo R200 - USB Connection). keeps coming up with 'Invalid Page Range' error message. The page range stipulated in the dialogue box is a standard default of '1' to '1'. Any ideas how I can resume printing?
    Chris

No I didn't, for that reason. Do you think the installation itself might introduce a driver that caused the problem? Would that cause the Epson to stop working, too? Maybe I should just deinstall the Kodak software, and see if that fixes the Epson problem.

  • Aperture 2.0 / Epson (Multiple Printers) Borderless Printing Issue

Our photography business recently purchased some Nikon D3s. As Aperture 2.0 is necessary to utilize them, we became an early adopter of Aperture 2.0. Immediately after the upgrade, borderless printing became impossible on all of our Epson R2400s and our Epson 3800s.
Through a VERY painful process, we were able to get the R2400s to print borderless 4x6s, but no other sizes. The 3800s are a different story. Not only is it impossible to print borderless, but the printed images are rotated by about 1-2 degrees in the clockwise direction.
It is important to note that no other program (Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.) are experiencing this behavior -- only Aperture and immediately following the 2.0 upgrade.
One oddity that may provide a clue. All combinations of paper, border size, "expand" settings, etc. have been tried. Every time, even the calibration pages printed with a border. On paper, however, allows the calibration page to print to the edge, however, 16-bit printing MUST BE TURNED OFF. Although it prints to the edge, it is still rotated by 1-2 degrees. Turning off 16-bit printing does NOT, however, make any image print correctly -- only the calibration page (and it is not correct).
Apple -- if you are reading this, please respond as quickly as possible. We rely on aperture for our business workflow. It is not practical for us to print every image out of Adobe's suite.

Epson hasn't released a driver for the 1280 since July of 2006. Real simple to check:
    http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid= 14387&prodoid=28907797&infoType=Downloads&platform=Macintosh
I think that's an Epson problem, not an Aperture problem. Many printer drivers had to be updated for OS X 10.5 Leopard (released in October of 2007). Hopefully one is coming, but that is an older printer, so I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope.
I didn't check for the Kodak, but it should be easy for you to find that info over at Kodak's web site.
