10.6 SL Clients logging in to 10.5.8 Server take 3 minutes, please help

I have a problem with my Snow Leopard Clients with a running Mac OS X Server 10.5.8 Setup.
The Server is prodiving Open Directory based logins (Network-Profiles) and whenever a user on a machine runinng Snow Leopard is trying to login, the login takes minimum 3 minutes.
User trying to login from a 10.5 (Leopard) machine get immediately authenticated. Seems like something is having a timeout but I cannot figure out, what it is as there is no clue in none of the logs I am aware of.
Even when I use Screen Sharing from one of the SL Client machines, login takes around 3 minutes. Trying the same from a Leopard machine, the login is nearly immediate.
It doesn't matter what kind of account I try to use (be it a network account or a local administrator on the server), it still takes time.
Does anybody have any idea what could be wrong about it?

We had a similar situation when we started adding 10.6 clients. What I found worked for us was the configuration of the Network Account. When we were adding a client to the domain, we had to make sure that we configured the LDAPv3. If that setting was blank, then we would get the delays.
That setting is located in: System Preferences-Accounts-Login Options-Network Account Server-Edit-Open Directory Utility. Select LDAPv3 and then click on the Configure pencil icon. We just use the fully qualified domain name for our server with no SSL and the delay was gone for logins.

Intermittend DNS resolution, timeserver, group policy updates errors in client logs in Win 2012 R2 single server environement

We recently switched hardware and server software Win SBS 2008 to 2012R2 for a small network roughly 40 clients (Win7 Pro / Win 8.1 Pro) about 16 running concurrently at a given time and one network printer with the printer queue residing on the DC as well.
I read that a single server environment might not be ideal in particular no fail-over but that is an accepted risk in this particular network here.
Errors:
Error 1043: Timeout during name resolution request
Error 1129: Group policy updates could not be processed due to DC not available
Error 5719: Could not establish secure connection to DC, DC not available
Occasionally but disappears after a while
Error 134: As a result of a DNS resolution timeout could not reach time server
Symptoms
On Win 7 Clients
Network shares added through Group Policy will not show sometimes
Network shares disconnect (red X) and when accessed return access authorization error after one or two clicks on the share finally grant access again
When the issue with accessing network shares occurs, it usually also affects Internet access meaning a 'server not responding' error appears in the browser windows when trying to open just any web page
nslookup during the incident returns cannot resolve error
ipconfig on client shows correct default router (VDSL Router) and DHCP / DNS Domain Controller
Also, the Win system log shows the above errors during these incidents, however, the nuimber of incidents vary from 20-30
On Win 8.1 Clients
Same as above with the slight variation for network shares apparently due to Server 2012 and Win 8.1 clients managing drive shares differently. However, network share refresh does not work with this clients. In most cases only a gpupdate /force returns
drive shares but usually only for the active session. After logoff / logon the shares are gone again.
The issue does appear to be load related since it occurs even if there are only one or two workstations active.
Server Configuration
Dell R320 PowerEdge 16GB / 4TB 7200RPM RAID10 / GBitEthernet
Zyxel 1910-48 Port Switch
VDSL 50Mbps Down / 20Mbps Up
Since the DC is the only local DNS and there are no plans to add another one or move DNS to another server, the DNS server is configured with this own address as preferred DNS with three DNS forwarders 1) VDSL Router 2) ISP DNS1 3) ISP DNS2
Currently only one Network card is active for problem determination reasons.
There appears to be no consensus concerning IPV6 enabled or disabled, I tried both with no apparent effect
I have set all network cards server and client to Full Duplex and the same speed, also disabled Offload functions within the adapter settings. Some but no consistent improvements.

DNS server scavening not enabled
Root hint server XYZ must respond to NS queries for the root zone
More than one forwarding server should be configured (although 3 are configured)
NIC1 should be configured to use both a preferred and alternate DNS (there is only one DNS in this network)
I have found some instructions to apply changes to the clients through a host file but I would rather like to understand whether this DNS response time issue can be resolved on the server for example timing setting perhaps. Currently the DNS forwarders are
set to 3 second.
Since a few people have reported issues with DNS but most are working with multi DNS, DC environment I could not really apply any suggestions made there. perhaps there is anyone like me who is running a single server who has overcome or experience the same
issues. Any help would be appreciated

Link and the list of Forwarders in the DNS Server configuration. However, I have just recently added the ISPs DNS as forwarders for test purposes and will probably learn tomorrow morning whether this had any effect for better or worse.

Windows Client log to the Mac Os X Server ?

I would like to create a network with Mac OS X Server. I have Windows PC's that would also be in the network.
Does windows clients can connect to the Mac Server with a username and password ?

At the simplest, sure, Microsoft Windows clients can connect to OS X Server services with appropriate credentials. Mail and file sharing, for instance.
Beyond password-based authentication, a more advanced configuration is probably not as simple nor as easy as you might want. Windows clients really want to use Microsoft Active Directory here and Kerberos authentication probably won't get you where you want. (This assuming that you can get the Windows clients to accept OS X Server Kerberos authentication.)
The usual approach for single sign-on in heterogeneous environments is the so-called Magic Triangle configuration with both Microsoft Active Directory running on a Windows Server and Open Directory running on OS X Server. This involves the two domains communicating. It might be easier to get OS X clients operating off Windows Server, particularly with the use of profiles in more recent versions.
As an alternative to Windows Server, recent versions of the Samba server package include authentication services compatible with Active Directory, and you may be able to get your Windows clients to authenticate to that, and build that as part of a Magic Triangle configuration. You'd need to download and configure the Samba server, and get the Samba AD support working.

Pop up window for a log-on no longer shows up with newest version. Please help

I have a singlesignon to a work site. A small pop-up window opens when I go to the site so I can log in. Worked great until I installed the latest version of Firefox. This particular site only works with Firefox as well. I contacted IT for the work site and they said the new Mac version of Firefox has done this to several others in the workplace. Any chance you can send me the previous version of Firefox so I can do my required work? Thank you!

I've just installed for the third time BOE Premium Server XIR3
Config:
Windows Server 2008
BOXIR3
CMS on MySQL
Tomcat 5.5
I've installed from scratch my server and I could not connect to any application
CCM : the SIA is up and Running, but I could not manage server to see what is launch on the server
> Error : Unable to log on : Could not connect to server SERVER_NAME:6400. Please check that the server name is correct, and that the server is running
Tomcat Configuration: Can't connect to that services too
-->Error : Unable to open the service BOE120Tomcat
CMS / Infoview : Unable to connect too.
--->Error : The server SERVER_NAME:6400 is not found (FWM 01003) null
(Here I translated the error message because I've got the message in french...)
Concerning the MySQL database, it's seems to be correctly installed as I can access the database via MySQL Admin tool.
I've seen lots of similar issue but I never found any resolution or workaround.
So If you have any ideas to help me it would be great as I must make a demo on customer site on monday morning :o(((

SCCM right click tools adds multiple ‘Client Tools’ entries
are comming when i right click on the clients. when i check for logs it shows client logs written only. More over when i try to connect to C$ i am able to connect to from console right click tools but when i go for connecting ccm folder it says no directory
found admin$\system32\ccm, but my machine is of 64 bit OS hence it should go to syswow64. any ideas how to resolve the same.

Creative Cloud client logs me out

I have an issue where the Creative Cloud desktop client logs me out after 5-10 minutes, and then I have login manualle again. Also, the client does not remember my id or password, and there is not option to make it remember either. Very annoying.
I have Creative Cloud desktop apps installed on both work computer, and home computer, and both are acting same way. Running Windows 7 Professional, and Windows 7 Home Premium, both 64 bit.

I wondered if some other software might be interfering with the operation of Creative Cloud? I'd try both launching Creative Cloud as an Administrator by right-clicking on the shortcut and choosing Run as Administrator. Also, try quitting other applications temporarily from the system tray and see if that makes any difference.

BPC Client Logging, what does this mean?

I've been having trouble with my queries returning data. Sometimes my EVDREs will hang long after the query ends on BW. I looking in the client logs C:\Documents and Settings\dcarey\My Documents\BPC\Logging\. I noticed the logs are filling up with the the following error: What is the source of this error? Is it causing my query trouble?

Network Time & Clients logged in as non-admin users

To give a run down of what's going on:
1. I have multiple machines running from 10.2.8 to 10.4.8
2. When they are logged into a non-admin account, the Date & Time will not synchronize (it will when using an admin account, though). The clients are pointed to time.apple.com
3. It was suggested to point the clients to one of my OS X Servers (running 10.4.8).
4. I went through the Network Services guide to make sure I set everything up correctly and tested a couple of machines (one running 10.2.8 another running 10.4.8) to see if they would synchronize with the server. They would not, and the message that appears in the Console is "no server suitable for synchronization found". I've tried using the IP address and the .local name of the server, each with the same results.
So my question is: Is there something that I'm missing (server side, client side)? Does anybody have any further suggestions?

Well NFS is not running on my server except for the rpc.lockd that showed as running. I set it now not to start and the only nfs process that still starts is nfsiod. I can not seem to find a way for this to be prevented from starting. If I have NTP and "Set Time Auto" on in SA they seem to butt heads.

On the client side no matter how many different ways I try to configure the server I get "No server suitable for synchronization found" i know the client setup is right. On the server I still can't get NTP to work right and I'm not alone as i see. This is a simple protocol and simple network service. People seem to be having problems with NTP since 10.4.2 and now 10.4.8 can't make a simple thing work. With all the other surrounding problems in tiger/Intel (SMB, memory leak intel, no Link Agra Mac Pro, etc.) server I'm really disappointed.
I'm at the point of a clean install to try one more time and I will bring the LDAP Archive and a mail backup with me. I plan to configure all other items manually in the hopes of fixing some issues. In the good old days Apple Servers just worked. Now with every update we pray they fix a problem.
Has anyone else fixed this cause it is starting to effect my keberos keys. (mumbles, should have stayed with 10.3.9)

Client logging out not working

I am having two issues , the first happened quite recently but I don't know if I caused it. Users on client machines cannot fully log out. The computers stop the logging out process when they get to the desktop image, The second issue is that when some clients log out the show up as disabled/asleep in server administration. This prevents them from logging in later, without me manually disconnecting them at the server. I work in a school and we have set students with the restriction of not having mutiple log-in privileges. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

IOS client logging

Just started my upgrade from lync 2010 to 2013. The iOS clients I'm testing with log in fine, but I've noticed after one successful login its enforcing client logging and I can't disable it. Is there a way to turn this off?

I find the same issue on my Lync client 2013 on IOS client. The version of my Lync client is 5.4. Maybe the next version will change it.

From time to time, we will ask you to generate client logs for an issue we are trying to help troubleshoot.
Here is how you can generate Flash Player Logs:
Uninstall Flash Player using the uninstaller listed on this page: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Install the Flash Player 10 Debugger listed on this page: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html#fp10
Add the mm.cfg file to this location on your machine:
Windows: C:\Documents and Settings\username\mm.cfg
OSX: /Library/Application Support/Macromedia/mm.cfg
Try the steps generating the error/problem you are seeing..
Go to this folder to get the logs:
Windows: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\Logs\flashlog.txt
OSX: /Users/username/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/Logs/flashlog.txt
Here is how you can generate Screensharing Add-in Logs:
Add the mms.cfg file to this location on your machine:

Try the steps generating the error/problem you are seeing.
Go to this folder to get the logs (acaddin.txt):
Windows logs will go in the user's My Documents folder.
Mac log files will be written into the current user's folder: hard drive:Users:<current user>:
Here is what we have in the config files:
PlayerLogging=1
SingleLogFile=1
DisplayTimes=1
ErrorReportingEnable=1
TraceOutputFileEnable=1
If you want to have a different log file generated each time you use screensharing/flash player, you can change the value from 1 to 0 for SingleLogFile.
This might help if you want the logs to only show data for the steps that generate the error.

We recently (actually it was a few SDKs ago added an option to send all the trace messages coming from LCCS to a function you define.
Add this to your code:

And the function traceMessage() will be called for every message logged by LCCS. In this case I was showing the trace in a TextArea called messages. In your case you can either call the flex logging APIs or store the messages and display them when the user presses some magic combination of keys.

Connection dialog between 10.5.5 client logging into a 10.5.5 very slow

when attempting to connect via afp to the local file server, connection authentication dialog seems very slow (about 30 seconds)
using a 10.4.x client to connect to the server everything is immediate
using a 10.5.x client to connect to another 10.5.x client everything is immediate
using a 10.5.x client to connect to the 10.5.5 server takes minimum 30 seconds to show login prompt.
once connected, server speeds are perfectly fine for reading and writing.
Any thoughts?
