10.7.2 Finder "Selection" not most recent

This wasn't happening until a few weeks ago, and was not happening whan I first updated to 10.7.2.
I must add that I can't do OS updates due to work restrictions.
I use lots of applescripts & Automator tasks that deal with the Finder selection, like renaming, creating backups, etc.. I'm finding that quite often the task is performed on not my most recent selection. but an older selection that I can't even see.
I've started selecting & deselecting & then re-selecting again, files I want to perform these tasks on, but even then it doesn't always refresh correctly and performs the tasks on the wrong file.
Is there some preference I ca trash, or any other suggestions??

When in Finder, COMMAND 'J' (letter J), may give you what you want. Check the appropriate boxes.

My issue is pretty much what the title says. Clicking the Stamp tool doesn't select the most recently used stamp. According to the Help screens and training videos, it should. I've checked Edit > Prefernces and could not find a setting that adjusted this behavior of the Stamp tool. Does anyone know what can be done to fix this? BTW - It's not just my installation of Acrobat X. Other users at my firm are having the same issue. The OS is Windows 7. Users have administrator rights. Thanks in advance.

So, what your saying is that this function, the ability to select the most recently used stamp by clicking the stamp tool, has been removed, in spite of the fact that Acrobat's Help pages says it can be done (Using Acrobat X Standard > Collaboration > Commenting > Apply a Stamp > Step 1 > Second bullet). I wish they would put it back. It was quite handy.
Perhaps I should adjust my request. Do you (or anyone else) know of a way to use the same stamp several times in a row without having to choose the stamp from the stamps list? For example, if you needed to put a check-mark stamp in several places in a document, it would be a pain to have to go back to the list each time. Is there perhaps an undocumented feature (maybe holding down a particular key while using the stamp) that would allow for multiple stamping?

You need to punch in the passcode for any purchase right, not just for new apps??
If one of the other students, or anyone else, got access to your iTunes Store account, necessary to make any purchases, then they'd have all the information they'd need to also make in-app purchases. But an in-app purchase can only be made through the account through which the original app was purchased. Either your son bought the game (free or paid) and then shared it with someone else along with the account information (necessary to authorize the app on someone else's device), or someone else downloaded the game as well, not just made in-app purchases.
In any case, changing your iTunes Store password should now have cut off any such unauthorized activity, though of course if your son gives the new password out, you'll be back to square one.

IPhone dead, pictures showing up via iCloud but not most recent?

Here's the deal- I made the great mistake of accidentally taking my phone for a spin in the washer last night and it might or might not resurrect in the next few days (it was dry when I pulled it out, so I'm still holding on to some hope). I have an iPad and as a last ditch effort to save my phone photos, I turned on photo stream. It worked great and several dozen pictures from up til early last week showed up. However, there are a good many pictures I took in the last week that aren't appearing, so I'm curious as to how these recent-but-not-most-recent pictures appeared but not the latest ones. I hadn't turned on photo stream on my iPad at any point before last night (post-phone death), so I'm unsure what's going on or if there's anything else I can do to connect the latest photos to another device. Not sure how these things work, but I'm assuming it uses wi-fi... do you think the fact that photo stream connected to my phone at all means there's some hope for my phone's second life? Or was it possibly just the ghost of my phone giving its last ounce of energy to the cloud before dying? Any input would be nice, as I've scoured the Internet for answers.

Are you talking about syncing notes and photo stream photos? If so, first make sure your notes are in iCloud by going to icloud.com on your computer. If they are, make sure both devices are signed into the same iCloud account and try going to Settings>iCloud, turning Notes to Off, then after a minute or so, turn it back On.
Photo stream photos are only uploaded after enabling photo stream. If the photos were already on your device when you enabled photo stream, then would not have been uploaded. Try taking a new photo, then see if it appears in your my photo stream album.

In mail how do I stop messages from the same sender from showing up when I select the most recent message from a sender?

on my iMac, when I view messages there is a grey number at the top of the message. This number denotes the amount of messages from that sender and when I view the most recent message in my mailbox (from that sender) all of the older messages load with it and this takes a while for the message to become moarked as "read." I know that I can turn this off because I have mountain lion on my air and i do not have this issue. how can i turn it off?

Select the Most Recent Record

I have a 2-page report that is grouped by employee, where the first page is a standard letter except for address, and the second page is a reproduction of a scanned form that the employee had returned. The employee may have returned several versions of the form over time, updating it each time.
I would like to have the report only pull in the most recent scanned image, ignoring all prior images. I'm struggling with the correct record selection criteria.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
If you have any date field in the data base that updates the time whenever the image is updated then use that date field in the report-->record sort expert and use ascending order. Now place the image field from the data base in the group footer of Employee which shows the latest image. If you want the old one then goto record sort expert and change the order for date field to descending.

Problem is to identify all records which are not most latest candidate

Did they work when you ran them? A couple of of the INSERT statemnets seem to be missing quotes.
Sentinel and I have slightly different ideas of what you want.
It looks like the criteria are different for the different values of file_valid.
If you add this row to the sample data:

The other day, my iPhone 4 decided to delete 95% of my contacts. Unfortunately when I realized this, my phone had already automatically backed up to iCloud, so the most recent backup didn't include any of my contacts. My Time Machine has been iffy and hasn't backed up recently AND I'm unsure if my contacts were saved to iTunes... I had never done that manually (didn't actually know it was an option until recently) but maybe it automitcally synced my contacts?
When I right click on my device in iTunes, restore from backup is not an option. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can restore from a backup from like 5 days ago? Is there a way to see a list of old backups or something? Ah I just want my contacts back! I don't care if I lose the pictures or texts I've sent in the last couple days, any help is greatly appreciated!

POP email loading Old Messages, and not most recent messages: (not Gmail)

I'm having an issue where my iPhone is loading old emails instead of the most recent ones on the server. I see the messages download in outlook (leave message on server). But my iPhone will download the most recent message for awhiel and it will stop.
I have it set to display 25 messages. It used to always download the most recent messages and push the old messages out. (i'd have to hit download 25 more to see more). But now it no longer does this. Also, when i delete a few messages, it downloads some messages, but not the most recent ones. Also tried completely deleteing the account and starting over. But after it fills up, the same thing happens. It worked fine for a few weeks, then it started having this problem.
I've tried deleting all email, but eventually it fills up and then starts doing the same thing.
Thoughts and help would be appreciated.

Those messages which iphone can't get are Junk mails..
First remove the account,
Go to Setting/mail and choose "show 50 or more recent messages".
Add your account again.
go back to mail settings
choose your account at the top of add account...
go to advanced
below the deleted messages
remove... choose "after one day"
under the incoming setting, delete from server choose "7 days" (which is quite enough time to keep)..
Thats all.. Fixed on my phone..
This phone is not your real mailbox. Use it to check only or respond After that delete them...
Don't keep your mails in it. Use Mail, Entourage or Outlook etc..

How can I make my iphone inbox match what I see when I log on using a PC?

If you're trying to decide between using POP and IMAP, we encourage you to use IMAP.
Unlike POP, IMAP offers two-way communication between your web Gmail and your email client. This means when you log in to Gmail using a web browser, actions you perform on email clients and mobile devices (ex: putting mail in a 'work' folder) will instantly and automatically appear in Gmail (ex: it will already have a 'work' label on that email the next time you sign in).

Is there a "New" button at the top right of the Playlists section of Music?
There is no Edit button to delete music, swipe sideways on the song to reveal the delete button. Tap and hold on the artwork in Artists and albums to reveal the (X) button to delete. Or connect the iPad back up to iTunes on the computer and check your sync settings for music to ensure you are syncing the right content.

How can I do a Session Restore after a crash from a week or so ago (i.e. not most recent)

After a recent FF crash (Vsn 13.0.1 - I know) on the next start up it asked if I wanted to restore session, said yes - then realised all previous tabs were missing. Shut down and re-started nothing happened so checked Task List and found multiple versions (2) of FF in memory - ended those sessions.
Tried to rename/re-use sessionstore.js and sessionrestore.bak but didn't contain tabs wanted, so I need to know if there is a way to 'undelete' previous sessionrestore.js files and use the one from a week or so ago to restore the tabs from then? I presume the same renaming procedure is used - could someone direct me to the procedure to do this?

I can find multiple (deleted) Sessionstore.js files with different dates and times in the n33mpvib.default folder, in 'good' condition. I have tried to save 1 from last week (to a different drive, E:) and then renamed sessionstore.js to *.old and copied in the recovered sessionstore.js from E: into n33mpvib.default folder, and restarted FF - didn't work.
I can see all the tabs I had previously opened in the History, but can't remember which were still open (active) at the time of the crash.
Is there something I am not doing correctly in the first paragraph procedure?

How to select the most recent date in a CR XI subreport

I have a sub report and it is simply a reporting of a sub table. It is a table that has multiple records with many dates coupled with types. I only want the most current date for certain types - the types can have more than one date. Much like the following select statement
select type, max(date) from table where type <> 'E' group by type.
How can I accomplish this in crystal?

Group on type. Use record selection formula for type <> E, use group selection formula for the max date. e.g. group formula is{table.date} = maximum({table.date, table.type})

Illustrator crash, recovered file not most recent

Hi
Over the past two days, Illustrator CC v17.1 has crashed for no obvious reason. In each case, I have been working and saving my files regularly. However, when I relaunch Illustrator and open my file, it displays an older version, not the latest.
I tried searching for tmp files in a few locations but found nothing. Anybody else experience this? Really odd and quite frustrating. I save often in case Illustrator does crash to prevent lost work/time. But I can't figure out what it is doing when its saving as the most current versions are nowhere to be found. Working locally on my internal hard drive.
Mac OS 10.9 / Illustrator CC v17.1 / 16GB RAM
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys, got the plugin installed. It should be very helpful. Pity that AI files can get corrupted so easily, I've never had that problem with them in the past. I appreciate the quick response.

Can I make the finder open my most recently used folder when opening a new window?

When I open a new finder window I would like it to open the folder I worked in last (i.e. the one I saved sth to or opened sth from). I know I can go over "Go to" but is there a way to adjust the settings so that it opens automatically?

Of course, you could always make an Apple Script as an app (that you could place next to the finder icon on the dock for ex) that would do it, but that would require programming skills.
