10.7.2 Keychain "Unknown" Login Entries

Hi:
I have the following unknown Keychain login entries on two different systems running 10.7.2:
com.apple.ubiquity.peer-uuid.D5299EE3-6805-4665-989B-2AC3DA46D5A9   --> Self-signed root certificate...untrusted
com.apple.ubiquity.peer-uuid.D5299EE3-6805-4665-989B-2AC3DA46D5A9   --> Pubic key
com.apple.ubiquity.peer-uuid.D5299EE3-6805-4665-989B-2AC3DA46D5A9   --> Private key
Unknown   --> Invalid certificate
Have tried deleting them, but they reappear after a system restart. And I don't recall seeing them prior to 10.7.2.
Can someone please shed light on these items? Their use? Issues?
Thanks,
Manu

Thanks for the link. After reading the thread I realize others have bigger problems than me (unfortunately for the them). My ubiquity.log gives a error report every 15 minutes, something about a " ubd-main-loop save_local_state:5772 Not saving identity" . After informing me at login that " peer-to-peer syncing won't work with mobile me" . There is nothing except errors in the log.
I only have 3 untrusted keychains and the number has been stable the last week. I also have one unknown keychain which expires ???. The activity monitor shows 0% voor ubd (although it sometimes goes up a few %).
The apple advisor also advised me to trust the untrusted keychains and not to worry about the errors (which I do because they aren't there for nothing). I suppose I could delete the unknown keychain, but I don't know if I shall do this as I don't really know what it is doing.

  • Combining user Keychain with login Keychain

Just recently did a Erase and Install upgrade to Leopard on my G5 and restored my previous Keychain Access data via Backup and my MobileMe account. This has created a separate Keychain file in my user/Library/Keychain folder with my user name, resulting in a login Keychain file and a user named Keychain file.
I have had the same Keychain since Jaguar and have been using Backup and my .Mac/MobileMe account to transfer my Keychain after upgrades and between my computers ever since. I did not notice the user named Keychain until I upgraded to Tiger on my old G4 a couple of years ago. Is the user named Keychain something held over from Jaguar?
The reason ask this is because I had some slight problems with passwords after upgrading to Tiger and I think it was because of having two Keychains -- one login and another user name. Currently, under Leopard, some new Keychain items are being added to both the login and the user named Keychains and not only is this redundant, it looks like trouble just waiting to happen.
First, without a separate user account would there even be a user named Keychain?
Secondly, can I combine the login Keychain and the user named Keychain to have a single Keychain file in the user/Library/Keychain folder?
Thirdly, is there any reason I cannot copy & paste Keychain items into one Keychain and delete the other -- leaving a single login Keychain?
Currently I have over 300 items in the old user named Keychain and only 8 or 10 in the login Keychain. I have been going through the old Keychain and eliminating dead-ends and duplicates. I have also tried copying & pasting items between Keychains and it seems to work.

Anyway, if there is not much in the login keychain, set your named keychain as the login keychain (select it and then File menu>Make keychain "yourname" Default). You should move any keychain items over to the "yourname" keychain, first.
Then, delete the login.keychain and select the option to remove references and files. It should stop loading the login.keychain.
I don't know what will happen if you rename the "yourname" keychain in the finder, but you could try backing it up and renaming it login.keychain. When you open Keychain Access, you might have to reset it as the default. Backup first.
This is what I was thinking too. I think I will give it a try since there are less than a dozen items in the login keychain at the current time.
A couple of new items have been added to both the login and the usernamed keychains and I would just as soon have Keychain Access set-up as it would be from a new install -- without having to lug around a Keychain from Panther.
Thanks. I'll give it a try in a couple of days and report back.

  • I keep getting an error message saying "Keychain cannot login to store" what do I do to fix this?

I'm having Keychain problems.  When I go into my iCloud it asks me to enter my password, when I do that an error message comes up saying that the "Keychain cannot login to the store." I haven't been able to find a way to fix this keychain problem and its driving my crazy!

  • Keychain Wifi Login on networks requiring additional info

Is there a way to turn off Keychain wifi login on networks that ask for additional information or user input? For example, the free wifi at a coffee shop requires users to login and then "connect" to the free wifi. The reason for connecting is because the wifi is limited to a certain amount of time allotted by the shop to each user. Since keychain opens up a separate login window and doesn't close until I click "done", I am not able to disconnect from the network to save wifi time for the next trip to the coffee shop.

#1 won't work on the Live HD / Live + ... they don't have the "secret" web browser.

  • Effects of using keychain on login

I just began using keychain with the result that when I login 7 popups appear in succession asking for permission to used the "Local Items Keychain".  The 7 are:
    talagent
    Message agent
    Call history plugin helper
    Calendar agent
    cloudd
    Safari
    com.apple/iCloudhelper.xpc
How do I enter permission once and for all for each of these to prevent the popups on each login?

There are several possible causes for this issue. Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, testing after each one, until it's resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
Follow the directions in this support article.
    Step 2
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Select the iCloud keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password.
    Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain.
    Step 3
Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the Keychain box. You'll be prompted to delete the local iCloud keychain. Confirm. Then re-check the box. Follow one of the procedures described in this support article to set up iCloud Keychain on an additional device.
    Step 4
Open the Keychains folder as in Step 1. There should be a file in that folder with the name "login.keychain". If there is also a file iwith the name "login_renamed_1.keychain", then please do as follows:
    ☞ Rename login.keychain to "login-old.keychain".
    ☞ Rename login_renamed_1.keychain to "login.keychain".
You can then close the folder.
Delete the login keychain from the keychain list in Keychain Access. Choose
               Delete References
when prompted, not Delete References & Files.
    Select
              File ▹ Add Keychain...
from the menu bar. Add back the file now named "login.keychain". If any of your needed keychain items are missing from it, also add back the file now named "login-old.keychain". I suggest you transfer any needed items from that keychain to the login keychain, then delete it. The transfers are made by drag-and-drop in Keychain Access. You'll need to enter your password for each item transferred.
Run Keychain First Aid again. Quit Keychain Access.

  • Problem Changing a Login Entry - [OK] button grayed out

I am attempting to change my system login entry (SAP Logon 710).
    I select the item
-Click on the [Change item] button
-This brings up the "Properites" popupwindow; and I modify the description of the login entry
-At this point, I like to save the entry ... But the [OK] button is still grayed out; although the [Cancel] button still looks good
-Is there a settings in Registry that prevents me from doing this?

    Hi,
In SAP logon 710, if you miss something and try to save, it will give you error saying Enter xxxxx. and would not allow you to save.
If the problem persists, then try uninstalling GUI and then check if some folders are there inside Programfiles folder. move the SAP folder inside Program files to somewhere else (for backup).
Reboot system and then reinstall GUI.
    Lets know if it works.

I can't change macbook keychain password ,I get a notice 'invalid entry'. I have changed the password on my login account and was trying to change the keychain login password.  Any suggestions?

    Hi,
One of our users has iMac, 10.6.8.
She has not got any local account.
She logs on to AD domain, with domain ID
When after 40 days or so she is asked the change the password; it does not work.
If we change it for here through AD or through another Windows PC, it works.
Could you please let me know the best course of action for this type of users who are not administrators of iMac?
I tested by changing my account's PAssword and it worked( I have administrative role).

  • Keychain adds logins w/o permission

On restart, my computer adds five login permissions to my keychain (I have been deleting them for I haven't given them permission to be added, and when I click on them, almost no info is given as to why they were added and nothing as to what they do).
    Apple Persistent State Encryption
    Public key: com.apple.ubiquity.peer-uuid.4339BCFA-15E1-439C-A8D2-7C1054D9BC2E
    Private key: com.apple.ubiquity.peer-uuid.4339BCFA-15E1-439C-A8D2-7C1054D9BC2E
    Unauthorized certificate (red "x"): com.apple.ubiquity.peer-uuid.4339BCFA-15E1-439C-A8D2-7C1054D9BC2E
Unknown certificate: "Unable to display this certifcate. The data does not appear to be a valid certificate" (repeated 3x).
Why are the Public and Private Keys recognized as valid when the certifcate with the same code name is said to be invalid? Why do these keep appearing even if I delete them? Are they viruses?
    Thanks for your help.

Thank you Kevin, that does seem to match my symptoms and I have made the change suggested. Just incase that page becomes unreachable by others, here is the part of the page that applies to this:

  • Autounlock non-Login keychains on login

The Login keychain gets unlocked automatically on login, if it has the same password as my login password.
Is there a way to have another keychain behave the same, aka. getting unlocked automatically when I login?
Setting the password of this other keychain to my login password doesn't work. Also unchecking the lock after xxx minutes or lock on sleep checkboxes doesn't make the keychain unlocked automatically after a reboot or logout/login, it only helps in that I have to unlock this keychain on once.
    Any tip is appreciated.

    Hello Sergo,
    Thank you for your reply.
    my computer name is localhost.
It's a standalone XP pro laptop and I connect with internet via wireless connection. It's not connected with  any Local Network.
Here's how my host file looks like
    Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.*
This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.*
This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each*
entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should*
be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.*
The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one*
    space.*
Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual*
lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.*
    For example:*
         102.54.94.97     rhino.acme.com          # source server*
          38.25.63.10     x.acme.com              # x client host*
    127.0.0.1       localhost*
    192.168.1.101    localhost
By default IP was 127.0.0.1       localhost
but I changed it to 192.168.1.101    localhost  as this IP was in my TCP/IP properties, did I do it correct?
I've Kaspersky Antivirus running and Windows Firewall on. I'm going to try disable both and restart.
Can you please tell me how to check event log in my XP machine.
    Thanks for your time

  • Does the default login entry point have to be on the leftmost tab?

I have a page that is within the role at the rightmost position of my top-level navigation, and I want that page to be displayed first when a user logs into the portal.
Is it posible to override the default landing page being the entry point of the leftmost tab?

    Hi John,
Why cant a "quick link" be established.
When logging into portal use the quick link to login. I think using this concept you role can be opened by default when logged in.

  • Keychain/Mai/Login Issues?

    I have 'cross-posted' also under Mail, as I have no idea what the issue might be;
I recently had to do an archive/install due to QT 7.1.6 totally hosing my machine. Mail does not want to work online now - or remember entered passwords.
I also have trouble emptying the Trash without restart.
I recall this happening once before and I think involved Keychain. I don't seem to be able to get Keychain repair to work, either.
Anybody know how to best handle this? Does creating a new Keychain make sense, would it change login at all ...?

    Hi everybody,
I, too, am having continuos problems with accessing my login keychain from all sorts of applications (Dashboard, Safari, Mail, whatever). I tried all the regular tips:
+changing the settings for the keychain (allow permanent access, etc.),
    +first aid and repair,
    +deleting the login keychain (even in my person Library) and reentering all my passwords;
but nothing seems to work. I keep getting these popups requesting my login password from all sorts of applications, still. Is there anything else I can do except reinstall OSX? I am really unnerved, as this stupid keychain window opens about every 10 minutes and makes working almost impossible.

  • Fn_get_audit_file: Multiple Login Entries

Hello.  I posted this question on a different forum site and as of yet have not yet been able to isolate the problem.  I hope that I'm not violating any forum protocols by reasking this question again albeit with different information.  This
appears to be a more appropriate site.
I set up my audit (server & database) process in a file (as opposed to a Security or Application Log) and have been successful at viewing this data from the sys.fn_get_audit_file file (see tsql below).
    Select *
    From sys.fn_get_audit_file ('path',default,default)
    Where action_id in('DL','IN','SL','UP') --database oriented
          or action_id in('LGFL','LGSD','LGIS','LGIF')  -- server oriented
Prior to running this extract, I ran four sql commands (i.e. update statement, insert statement, select statement & delete statement) and these four are showing up on my fn_get_audit_file extract.  However, the login records are enormous - some
2,000 already.  It appears that they are all action_id=LGIS.  The event_time on these entries are only miliseconds apart.  Sorta like my laptop is pinging the server several times per second and thus blowing up my login records.
I've opened SQL Server Profile and it appears that each time I run a select statement referencing server data (like the fn_get_audit_fil select statement from above) a new login line is created.  As far as i know I'm not logging in but perhaps to SQL
Server's point of view I am.
    Any thoughts?

    Follow Up:
(excerpt from Pradeep Adiga @ http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqlserverfaq/archive/2014/12/07/capture-successful-logins-you-may-see-many-entries-high-volume-when-you-create-audit-for-successful-login-group-action-group.aspx)
When you are auditing successful logins attempts using SUCCESSFUL_LOGIN_GROUP action group through SQL Audit, you will see that there will be too many entries in the audit file.
You may see this behavior for successful logins when connections are made through SQL Server Management Studio. This occurs because for every successful login through SSMS you will have other corresponding connections made at the background. For example
    •   Object Explorer
    •   Query Editor Window
    •   Solution Explorer etc.
Hence successful logins for every such connection will also be recorded.
    Workaround:
Unfortunately SQL Auditing does not have filtering option to remove connections coming from SSMS – object explorer etc.

  • Login/keychain bug: Login as admin without a password.

I just stumbled upon this bug. I have two user accounts on my iMac (OS 10.6.1) one password protected admin account and one user account without a password. If I go to the login window and click on the user account and immediately follow up with clicking on my admin account, then it will log me in as my admin account without asking for a password. If the admin account is not logged in a box will appear and ask my if I want to update my keychain or continue to login.
I guess this wont be a problem if you just use a password on all your account.

Nope. How was it changed? Your only option, IMHO, is to boot with your install disk and reset it. Once it's reset, login to and change it back.

  • Keychain Access becomes unresponsive after selecting any keychain!=login

I'm running a MacBook Air mid-2012 with OS X 10.8.4 with all updates - when I open Keychain Access I am able to look at the "login" keychain. When I click on the "System" or "System Root" keychains the application becomse unresonsive. The only way out is to Force Quit. I have admin priviledge.
I've verified the hard drive and permissions. I've run Keychain First Aid.
This happens every time. Any ideas? Thanks.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.
