10.7.2 to Xerox Docucolor 252 w/Creo problems

Hi we just updated our computers to an iMac i5. Now we cannot use our Xerox Docucolor 252 with Creo. Any recommendations? Your advice is greatly appreciated!
Note: Obviously, tried to use the Xerox creo software via Xerox website and even tried to load the Xerox Docucolor 252 driver software (which only provides the PPD at this time).
Most posts recommend retro- installing back to Snow Leopard, but were trying to avoid that.
Help!

OK Im responding to my own question but hopefully this will help others trying to use Lion (10.7.2) and printing on their Xerox printers using Creo print servers to their various Xerox printers.
To setup a new Xerox / Spire printer click on system preferences, and then on print &
Scan.
Click on the + icon at the bottom left:
Right click the toolbar. If on a Mac with only one button enabled, click on control click
the toolbar.
You will see the following menu items, click on Customize toolbar menu item.
Click and drag the Advanced icon and move to toolbar, then click on done.
Now click on Advanced Icon:
The Advanced Icon will show the following as default:
Click on Type and Select the LPD/LPR Host or Printer:
Manually type the IP address and print queue:
Sample: lpd://172.xx.xx.xxx/processprint
Under Print Using select Other:
This will give you a window, navigate to where the Xerox / Spire drivers are.

  • Docucolor 252 still having printing problems

I thought my issue with the DocuColor 252 was fixed, but I was wrong.Copying and scanning is fine, but printing remains an issue. Sometimes it will print on the first try, but most often it takes 4 attempts before it works. I've already tried all of the steps from this last thread:http://forum.support.xerox.com/t5/Printing/Xerox-DocuColor-252-Not-Printing/m-p/175239/highlight/true#M9921In the Fiery software, if it's not going to print, the job actually shows the document name and such, but the pages shows "0". The job bypasses the sections above for Printing and Processing and just appear at the bottom in the "Printed" list. When it does print it shows at the top "Processing" and "Printing" sections first and then appears in the bottom "Printed" list with the actual number of pages.Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Reload the Fiery completely, everything in the other thread made it look like the network itself was the issue. So now eliminate the possibility of the Fiery being the issue and wipe it out per the "fiery" users response in the previous thread.

  • Leopard upgrade issue printing to Xerox Docucolor 5000

We recently upgraded to Leopard and have come up with an issue printing to our Docucolor 5000. When printing multiple copies of a page set up for landscape from AI CS3 or CS4 the first page prints okay. On subsequent pages the paper has flipped to protrait, although the are remains in landscape. Any thoughts on how to overcome this?
Has happened to all of our Macs (all identical) with the upgrade. No other changes to our hardware or software.

    Driver: Fiery Docucolor 5000 v2.0

Hello Terry. We had the same problems with our Canon printers that use the Fiery print controller. After blaming Adobe for the problem EFI, the makers of the Fiery, released a patch and updated driver that resolved this orientation problem. So I suggest you contact your Xerox support to see if they have these same fixes for your model of Fiery. Or you could check the EFI web site for any updates.

  • Windows XP - Missing text when printing to Xerox Docucolor

Currently printing Illustrator CS3 from a Windows XP to a CREO driver running a Xerox Ducucolor 240.
Sent a document and discovered some of the text was missing. It was a label set up 2-up on the page and the missing text occurred in the upper label, but was not missing on the lower label.
I went back to see if I had not duplicated all of the label and discovered that the document was complete.
Without changing the document, I sent it again. This time it printed correctly.
What could make the document lose some of the content?

Something likely happened during the transmission of the job to the printer. It could be a fluke but if it happens again, you should check all your connections, condition of your wires and cables, and your power protection.
Could also have been a blip with Illy and/or whatever other apps you had running at the same time; a slight conflict somewhere occurring at the exact wrong nanosecond.
    ETA:
In other cases (though not in this one), it could be a font issue. Corrupt font, duplicate font on your system or with the printer. It could also be an issue with the Illy file itself; not exactly a bad idea to copy everything and place it in a new file.

  • Xerox 7750 & 4500 laser printing problems with OS X Leopard

Since upgrading to Leopard from Tiger we have experienced a number of printing issues:
Printers rebooting each time we send a print job
Sent print jobs appearing in the print list but not printing, then printing the second time they are sent
The printer going to Pause on it's own
A single copy of a document printing, but not printing when more than one copy is specified
Our network seems OK, we are not experiencing problems file sharing or connecting to our server or the internet. The printers themselves are not that old and the have the latest firmware updates and we are using the latest Xerox drivers.
    Anyone else experience anything similar?

It seems like it´s a problem with all Xerox Work Center drivers together with the 10.5.7 update.

  • Printed document only shows edits?

Hello all, this is my first post. I am not a user of Framemaker so I apoligise for my lack of framemaker knowledge. I have a user that when he prints a file, it will only print the markups and not the actual text. We can print the file just fine on another computer. Is there some sort of setting we missed? Thanks in advance!

Hi Michael, thanks for your reply.
    We are using Framemaker 10
Windows XP   - file printed fine on a Windows 7 PC (FM10)
We were attempting to print from Framemaker
Printer is a Xerox Docucolor 252 with a postscript driver
Im not sure the method used for creating a PDF.
There really is no need for a pdf at the moment. The documents they are creating and editing must be printed out so our "subject matter experts" can review them (they aren't fans of digital copies) and then the editor can go back and make changes. So I guess the format it prints to doesnt matter as long as the actual text shows up. What I dont get is that it prints fine on 1 machine and not the other.
    Thanks again!

  • Print shop can't print color correctly.

    Hi there,
I work at a print shop and occasionally run into problems with documents being difficult to print, but this one is especially troubling.  Out print shop does not have Photoshop but rather "Photo Impact..."  I know, don't get me started.  The issue is that I have a particular customer how did some designing in Photoshop CS4 (CS something) and it looks beautiful on his macbook but different on our PC (no matter what program we use to open any of his files- TIFF, PNG, JPG, etc). When printing to our Xerox Docucolor 252 the color is real dark and way less vivid/bright.
I tried the file on my home computer (PC with CS4) and it again looks great.  When I print it on my home printer (Canon ip6700d) the printed colors are much closer to the screen even though I get an error telling me the printer is a non-postscript printer and so it will ignore some of the document properties.  This leads me to believe that since the Xerox is a postscript enabled (I think) printer it is using data I know nothing about to darken and dirty the image.  This is way outside of my knowledge and I would love to figure this out.
We have tried converting the image both to CMYK and RGB and have played around with the different color profiles, sRGB, Adobe RGBxxx etc. with very suble changes but nothing acceptable.  I think we are to the point where the customer would be ok to start from scratch but if he doesn't know what to do differently I think we'll be right back here again.
Any suggestions?  I'm frustrated and desperate to figure this out!
    Thank for any ideas,
    -Stephen

  • Photoshop all of the sudden printing a solid black "box"

    Hello!
I have a few users who use CS3 to do some marketing-work. Not quite sure what they exactly are doing, but they are using Photoshop, InDesign etc. at least.
Both computers are running XP SP3 with the newest updates for CS3.
Yesterday a problem started occuring, when they were printing. One of them opened two files, each about 50 MB - pressed "print" (as she always does) and instead of two pictures, like one would expect, out came one picture and one solid black box, where the picture was supposed to be.
The other one had 10 images open and same symptoms. First one printed nicely, the last 9 came out as black boxes. Keep in mind, that they have been doing this for quite some time now, without any problems what so ever.
My first thought was that the printer (HP Laserjet 5550) couldn't handle the big images, so I asked them to print on our Xerox Docucolor 240. Same problem! That leads me to believe, that there's a setting somewhere, they've activated - sorta like the one, that makes all text black.
If you need any additional info, please tell me :-) Also, I would be glad to scan one of the black boxes in for you, if you need to see it.
    Thank you in advance!
    Thomas

Thank you for your effort in explaining this in a more simple way hehe..
I have forwarded your suggestion to the users in question. I'm not sure, they will be able to test it today, since it's almost 2 PM here (and time for weekend). But as soon as I know whether or not it helped, I'll be sure to let you know.
    Regards
    Thomas

  • Acrobat Pro 8 Printing Problems with Xerox 252 Fiery

printer: Xerox 252 with Fiery Controller
    Software: Acrobat Pro 8
    OS: WinXp pro
The problem occurs when I am printing a binder that consists of 8x11 and 11x17's. The printer locks up and does not print. We have had the Xerox techs come out but after numerous trouble shooting efforts we came to a conclusion that there is an issue with Acrobat 8.
Also, in order to print an 8x11 or 11x17 there is a need to go through and set the file size for each time we print. The check box "print by pdf source size" is checked and we are still having problems.
I've had no issue with Acrobat 7 and the problems I'm having are with Acrobat pro 8.

  • Why can't print to Xerox Splash or HP from Safari or Apple Mail?

I copy pasted this from the Printing and Faxing forum since it seems no one can answer my questions there. Maybe someone here has an answer.
    From yesterday:
I just updated my computer from a G4 running 10.3.9 to a G5 running 10.4.5. I used the migrate wizard so I didn't need to install anything new. All my applications even seem to work well. The only thing I can't do is print from Safari or Mail to an HP LaserJet 1320 or a Xerox Docucolor G630. I reinstalled the drivers for both printers and I still can't print. I can print from Quark and Acrobat Reader just fine. A few months ago, I set up a G5 workstation but with that one I needed to install everything from scratch and I'm able to print from Safari and Mail fine from that computer. What do I need to do?
One more thing, I tried printing a page from my System Profile and I can't. I click on the print button and nothing happens. I'm at a loss here. Where do I begin?
I hate to be persistant but I really need some help. Let me tell you what I've done so far.
I've gone to the HP site and downloaded the latest driver for the 1320n series printer and I reinstalled and set up the printer in the print center like I've always done with any of the printers I've set up before. I still can't print from Mail, Safari, and from the system. I see on the HP site that there is a fix in the Tiger system already (I think I'm reading that right) and I shouldn't be worrying about this.
I found in one of the other forum listings about a Foomatic/hpijs and I installed that one. Nothing printed. I tried using a Generic PPD. Nothing happened.
I reinstalled the Xerox Splash printer drivers from the disk and that didn't make a difference.
In the print window, I can't make a PDF, won't let me Preview, and won't let me Print. I click on the buttons and they won't even react. It doesn't do anything. But even with the new drivers I've set up since I started all this, I can still print from Quark and Acrobat Reader. So it seems it's got something to do with the system.
I'm really frustrated here. Can someone please give me a clue if they have one? Anything would be appreciated.

Thanks a million for your input. I really appreciate it. I found the fix though in the troubleshooting section in the book I purchased from Dr. Smoke from the Forums. It's his X Lab for Tiger book. Dr. Smoke is THE BOMB! :~D I have to thank him again for his guru abilities!
There was a plugin that was afoul. The Xerox Accounting plugin was causing my print option not to respond along with the other buttons in the print window. I removed it from the plugin folder and now I can print. I'm glad that's all it was.
    Thanks again!

  • Photoshop Printing Problems with Xerox 7400 Phaser

Cannot get my Photoshop CS5 to print full size documents to Xerox 7400 Phaser.  Prints only 1" thumbnail of anything I send to it.  This is the only program that has any problem with the Phaser and the only printer Photoshop has a problem with.  Unfortunately, it's the only 11x17 color printer in our office.  Anyone else had this problem?
I have exported files to other programs, but that lessens quality of photo work and also defeats the purpose of having an expensive, extensive program for it.

  • Tiger broke my printing support on Xerox DC 4 CP

I just upgraded from 10.1.5 to 10.4.7 and now the same PPD for Xerox Docucolor 4 CP doesn't work anymore: printing dialog shows the options, but some of them are not accessible. And in addtition the scands are not working.
There's no support on Xerox's webpage and I'm getting a little frustrated on this situation... Printing works with the generic postscript driver, but it lacks support for multiple trays and other printing features.

The printing system in Tiger is different than in OS 10.1.5. You will have to use Printer Setup Utility and select the installable options that you have on your printer.
Go to Printer Setup Utility (Applications -> Utilities). Highlight your printer in the list of printers. Then press the "i" icon at top to Show Info. You will see a pop up menu that contains "Name & Location", "Printer Model", and "Installable Options". When you choose the "Installable Options" you can check the boxes for the items and memory you have on your printer. Be sure to click "Apply Changes" when you are done. The options should then be available in the print window.
I cannot find any drivers for the scanning function.

I've connected a Xerox 6120 color laser printer to my home LAN (cable modem to Netgear wireless router). When the printer is turned on the Mini can't get an IP.I've tried using fixed IP for both the Mac and the Xerox to no avail. (FYI, my G3 Pismo Laptop works correctly as does a Dell laptop in this same setting)
Xerox support has acknowledged this problem with the Mini. They told me they've communicated with Apple tech support.

Sorry I can't help you with your particular question, but I am considering purchasing a Xerox Phaser 6120. Are you generally satisfied and does it work with/support Rendezvous? Thanks very much.

  • Hi .. I am trying to install a printer ( Xerox C525A ) on an existing netwo

The netwotk is intact and I am simply replacing an older HP 2300 with the newer Xerox...C525A
The problem is that I cannot see the printer over the network
Are there any tricks I am missing here?
    Help most appreciated
    G5 dual core 2Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I'm assuming here that it's connected via Ethernet?
If so, you need to find the documentation to see/print it's IP, and if you can't change it to math the 1st 3 IP numbers of your Network, then I think you can still add it as an IP Printer in Printer Setup Utility.
