10.7.2 will not open my old Microsoft programs. I don't want to spend $200 to update them on software I don't even like. Anyone know how to import the info from my Entourage contacts to Apple Address Book without being able to open Entourage? Thanks.
Mail and Address Book can import data from Entourage. Mail will import directly from Entourage by selecting Import from Mail's File menu and following directions onscreen.
For contacts export your Entourage contacts to a folder of vCards (or a vCard file.) Then drag the vCards or vCard file directly into the contact list of Address Book.
If you refuse to upgrade to Office 2011, then try the Open Source Libre Office.

My MacBook Pro will not open any app or program that requires Internet, even though I am connected to the web. I recently installed Norton AntiVirus and think it may have changed a setting that I couldn't find. I uninstalled Norton and it didn't help. Every time I open Safari, iTunes or any other program that tries to connect to the Internet, it crashes. Strangely enough, Skype still works, but nothing else.

In the popup window click the Diagnostic button.
System Preferences/Network- Unlock padlock. Highlight Airport. Network Name-select your name. Click on the Advanced button. Airport/Preferred Networks-delete all that is not your network.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined." Click the OK button and lock the padlock. Restart your computer.

Check to see if an extra entry is present in the DNS Tab for your wireless connection (System Preferences/Network/Airport/Advanced/DNS).
Delete all extra entries that you find.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined."

I uninstalled Norton and it didn't help.
To properly uninstall Norton software follow these instructions - Locate Symantic Solutions folder inside the Applications folder at the root level of your HD, launch the Symantec Uninstaller application, select the Symantec AntiVirus Corporate, Norton AntiVirus & Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect entries and click the Uninstall button.
Confirm your decision when prompted and then enter your administrator password in the space provided.
Retart your computer & Norton should be gone for good.
If the above does not work, download a copy of Symantec’s RemoveSymantecMacFiles removal utility. This utility will launch Terminal & remove the Norton components. -
I use LR5 on my Mac Desktop (Yosemite 10.10.1) and it works fine. I have downloaded LR5 to my new MacBookAir (Yosemite 10.10.1) and it will not open. Message says program in running on too many computers. I once had it on another MacBookPro (Yosemite 10.10.1), but no longer use that computer and LR5 does not show up in the applications.

Firefox will not open a browsing window, program opens, no window (4.0b5, Mac)
just started happening - i open firefox, menu up top opens but no window . . . tried opening new window, new tab, no dice
I also have this problem. I cannot open links from a discussion board I frequent nor can I open links from my email. Also after opening my email, I cannot go to any other sites except my home page. I can then go no where else.
When I close Firefox and try to reopen it, it does nothing! I have to bring up the Task Manager and end the Firefox process before I can get back in.
To the best of my knowledge, this problem started with the new update to Ver. 3.6.9. I am running Windows XP Media Center 2005 -

LR5 will not open ANY existing catalog
LR5.4, MacBook Pro, all catalogs on 256 SSD intermal, photos on external drive. Experienced LR user (since beta tester for v1) I am a CC subscriber, but LR is previous buy and under serial number.
New problem: LR will not open any of my 5 catalogs. Will create a new catalog (empty), then will not open it. On program open, choose any catalog from window: after a minute or so, goes to pizza wheel, then quits. No error message, nothing. System Force Quit shows still open, "...not responding."
Actions:
1. Downloaded copy, reinstalled over existing: no change.
2. Use Time Machine to go back 48 hrs (when it was working) and Restore of entire User Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom: no change.
Before I lose an extensive preference file or other setup, I'm wondering if anyone has some help here.My recommendations:

Browsers were hijacked, found and quaranteened(sp?) the bugs, Mozilla will not open from the desktop, Programs. Tried to un-install either one-no joy. The effects of having actually used MacKeeper to do anything are a completely different matter. If you used MacKeeper to encrypt any files or folders, use MacKeeper to un-encrypt them first.
Quit the MacKeeper app if it is running.
Open your Applications folder: Using the Finder's Go menu, select Applications.
Drag the MacKeeper icon from your Applications folder (not the Dock) to the Trash.
You will be asked to authenticate (twice):
You do not need to provide a reason for uninstalling it:
Just click the Uninstall MacKeeper button. You will be asked to authenticate again.
After it uninstalls you may empty the Trash and restart your Mac. All that will remain is an inert log file that does nothing but occupy space on your hard disk. -
Had to restore comp. to earlier time, now firefox will not open.
I have a HP Pavilion Slimline desktop, model s5310y. It is using
Windows 7. A popup from Firefox came up saying I was using an outdated version-3.6 I believe. I hit the download button, it downloaded but when I tried to use it, it would not open. I uninstalled the program, and restored the computer to a couple of days earlier. The origonal Firefox is back, but it will not open.
I need the bookmarks out of it.If you use ZoneAlarm Extreme Security then try to disable Virtualization.

Macmail and safari will not open
I downloaded safari 3.1 to my eMac with Osx 10.3.9.
Now I cannot open safari or open my macmail.
I was previously using Safari 1.2.3.
So I then downloaded safari 1.2.
I still cannot open macmail with the Safari 1.2.
I have done some reading and I do not know if it is a keychain problem
or a Webkit problem.
I called Apple and they said to reinstall safari from my
original Disk. Unfortunately my disk 1 has a scratch and it will not open.

First of all, Welcome to the Discussion forums!
Unfortunately, what happens with installing the later version of Safari over a supported version for 10.3.9, the download "breaks" or damages the WebKit system files.
To resolve this, the only thing that I have seen is to reinstall the system. Not sure why Apple told you to reinstall the older version of Safari from disk. As far as I know neither will work even after reinstalling as the System WebKit files will be damaged and they will not run. That is my understanding, sorry if I am wrong.
It's unfortunate that you do not have a working install disk as you most likely will have to reinstall from disk (either your computers installation disks or by purchasing a set of "full" retail 10.3 install disks from a third party reseller).
Additionally, I wouldn't worry too much about a Safari install at this point for 10.3.9 as it is very outdated. You should use a browser such as Camino 1.6.8 which is still being supported for 10.3.9.

Firefox will not open without restarting computer
I do not shut down my computer as we use "Log Me In" so I and another person can log in from wherever we want, anytime. About 5 months ago the problem started. I can open FF when I come in every morning, but when I come back in the afternoon or later in the evening, Firefox will NOT open.. It does nothing.. I can click to open, use the drop down and select open, nothing happens. I have to restart my computer every afternoon in order to get Firfox to open.. So I have begun transferring all my links to IE as it does not have any problme like that.

Email links in web page will not open
when i am on a web page and there is a link which opens your email for example to enter a competition it will not open it used to up till a week ago but now when i click it does not do anything i have tried several other web pages so it is not the web page if i go and do it through explorer i dont have a problem it opens fine

I am trying to import developed images from LightRoom 5 Photoshop 6 for further editing. I am receiving this message and the images will not open.....'Could not open scratch file because the file is locked, or you do not have necessary access permissions or another program is using the file. The S3 is on the compatible RAW list, but the newer S5 isn't. The S5 is great, but the software it comes with is abysmal. I don't suppose anyone knows when the S5 might be added? or how long it usually takes to get new cameras added? Thanks Power mac
