10.7.3 breaks the media viewer

After upgrading to Mac OS X 10.7.3 (from 10.7.2), the "media viewer" in iWeb 3.0.4 no longer displays the nested folders inside my iPhoto. It simply shows "iPhoto" and all my 100,000 pictures. While most of the time I'm looking for the most recent pictures to add to iWeb, so I can just scroll all the way to the bottom, the pictures are in chronological order and not the order I've already arranged them in iPhoto. Sometimes I re-arrange a few out of order to tell my story. Now, I'm still using iPhoto 8.1.2 and I can't upgrade to iLife '11's version 9.x (that's a different topic for the Discussions) but that's probably going to be the only solution, right? Aperture 3.2.2 continues to function correctly so apparently you have to be 100% up-to-date... Any other suggestions?
-Doug

Douglas, I have a topic going about this same issue Here. Try this as a temporary solution. When your in the iWeb media browser, click on Movies or any of the other media buttons. Then try Photos and see if the nested folders are there. It works for me.

  • Adobe AIR apps break the media player!!

    Hi all,
    I posted yesterday stating that I was having trouble with the iPad media player.
    What was happening was that if I opened the WIRED app, I was able to view the video content as normal. If I then closed the app (via the home button) and re-opened it, the video content would no longer play (I could 'buffer' through it, but whenever I hit the play button nothing happens). What was more disturbing was that this seemed to affect other apps that have video also, i.e. if I open the WIRED app, play some video, hit the home button, then open the Guardian eye witness app, the video content in the Guardian no longer works.
    If I uninstall the wired app, or restart the iPad this is not the case.
    I'm starting to think this is something to do with Adobe AIR, and that when the apps are getting closed, they are not shutting down a media player component correctly.
    Is this happening to anyone else?

    Hi Mukesh,
    I installed the Flash CC 2014 update and added some Certificates from Apple to my Keychain. Now EVERYTHING works fine again!! :-)
    Thank you very much for the Update! :-) Good job!

  • How to change icon size in iWorks media viewer

    Hi
    I have just upgraded my wife's macbook from 10.6.8 to 10.8.2 and she uses pages a lot
    The media viewer in pages seems to have just one size for the icons of the photos. You used to be able to drage a slider to increase the size
    I have tried all the ctrl key type ideas but nothing
    Why do they delete features that are d=so useful or hide them in non obvious palecs and make it hard for the less technical user.
    I have been using pages since the first and a Apple since 1980 and support 500 machines - most using pages so I would appreciate any help.
    Mountain Lion has made Pages a little less friendly
    Yours

    I just upgraded to iOS 7.0.4.  I hate it and wish I could uninstall it.  Is there any way to change from the huge icons of 4X4 on screen to old style of 4X5 size?
    You cannot.
    But how is 4x4 larger than 4x5?

  • Photos not showing in media viewer

    Hi.. I am using iweb 09 to build my website.
    However I cant view my photos that I have in Aperture, in the media viewer in iweb.
    I only have the one Aperture project on my laptop, and all of the non-edited... and edited photos within that project don't show in the media viewer in iweb... So I cant drag the pictures I would like to include on my website from the media viewer.
    I tried closing iweb and deleting the plist in my home folder but no difference. i un-stacked all the photos in Aperture to see if they would show up.. no luck either.
    Can anyone suggest anything please... All my updates are up to speed..
    Thanks..... Gerry

    Gerry ~ Are the 40 all .CR2 files, or all .PSD files?
    According to Wikipedia, RAW image files such as .CR2 +"fulfill the same role as negatives in film photography: that is, the negative is not directly usable as an image"+...
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rawimageformat
    ...Perhaps that's the reason media browsers don't see them. For suggestions on converting .CR2 files click HERE.

  • Media Viewer - iPhoto image titles?

    Hi,
    In iWork '05 all iPhoto images in the media viewer were titled. This was extremely useful for me as I do commercial greeting card production using pages and use images achieved numerically in iPhoto for quick import into Pages when fulfilling orders.
    But I have noticed that since upgrading to iWork '08, there are no longer titles under my images when viewed in the Media Browser.
    Any ideas how to turn titles back on?

    Hi Will,
    Do a Control click on the photos then choose Display as list. Now you'll see three columns, Name, Date and Size. You have Show Columns that give you two more options, Dimensions and Kind
    Hope this helps you
    Sincerely,
    RicD

  • Organizer Media view changes

    When I am viewing images in the Media view I can't find a way to go from a vertical filmstrip view to the normal media view which places all images in the middle view area.
    What am I missing?
    Mary Lou

    That wasn't the probem.  Evidently, the media view changes depending on what I have selected.  If I sort for an import batch, I get a listing of the batches.  It seems like when I am working with tags, the interface changes to show me an area at the top of the screen with more information on tags.
    I have searched AdobeTV and found some organizer videos which are generally helpful but don't directly explain the different views of media.
    I'll keep searching for some more detailed explanation.

    Really need advice on it.

    Without formatting using [ PRE ] and [ /PRE ] tags it is nearly impossible to read much less provide help.
    But what is it you hope to accomplish by breaking it up into smaller views?
    Improvements in ease of maintenance will likely be offset by poorer performance.

  • How do I collect and organize files into a new folder without breaking the links to my media?

    I'm new to premiere pro, and learned that I probably should have figured out where to organize all of my files from the beginning, but in the post production phase, I have a bunch of audio and image files sitting all over my desktop, and I'm afraid that if I move them, I'll break the links to all of my media. Files I edited in CS6 Photoshop and Audition are of special concern (considering they get automatically routed to my desktop).
    Does anyone know how I can collect all of the files and media that were imported into my project, and and archive them into a folder without breaking the project's links to the original media? Perhaps there's a way to copy all of the files and move them into that folder, so that when I move the originals, I'll still maintain all of the links in the copied version?
    I tried using the project manager tool, but received an "unknown error message" each time I ran it.
    Any organizational insight would be much appreciated!

  • [svn:osmf:] 13002: Some fixes for the composite view trait.

    Revision: 13002
    Revision: 13002
    Author:   [email protected]
    Date:     2009-12-16 13:04:30 -0800 (Wed, 16 Dec 2009)
    Log Message:
    Some fixes for the composite view trait.  Integrated some of the unit tests (though some still break and are commented out).
    Modified Paths:
        osmf/trunk/framework/MediaFramework/org/osmf/composition/CompositeViewTrait.as
        osmf/trunk/framework/MediaFramework/org/osmf/composition/ParallelViewTrait.as
        osmf/trunk/framework/MediaFramework/org/osmf/composition/SerialViewTrait.as
        osmf/trunk/framework/MediaFramework/org/osmf/layout/LayoutContextSprite.as
        osmf/trunk/framework/MediaFrameworkFlexTest/org/osmf/MediaFrameworkTests.as
        osmf/trunk/framework/MediaFrameworkFlexTest/org/osmf/composition/TestParallelElement.as
        osmf/trunk/framework/MediaFrameworkFlexTest/org/osmf/composition/TestSerialElement.as
        osmf/trunk/framework/MediaFrameworkFlexTest/org/osmf/utils/DynamicMediaElement.as
    Added Paths:
        osmf/trunk/framework/MediaFrameworkFlexTest/org/osmf/composition/TestParallelElementWithV iewTrait.as
        osmf/trunk/framework/MediaFrameworkFlexTest/org/osmf/composition/TestSerialElementWithVie wTrait.as

    It's important to understand what traits are and what they're not:
    Traits are not intended to be generically extensible:  there's a fixed set within the framework (although we may add additional traits in the future, to support new Flash/FMS capabilities).  We experimented with making them fully extensible, but it turned out to be not worth the cost, particularly since there shouldn't be that many traits in a media system.
    Traits represent fundamental characteristics or capabilities of the media in its context.  For example, some media is playable (videos), other media is not (images).
    A trait cannot apply to all media types.  If it could, then there would be no reason to model it as a trait, instead we would model it as part of the MediaElement.  Metadata is a good example of this, in that any MediaElement might have some metadata associated with it, so it wouldn't make sense to make metadata a trait.  Similarly, any MediaElement has the ability to go into fullscreen mode, so I wouldn't model the ability to go fullscreen as a trait.
    On a semi-related note, I'm often asked (inside Adobe and elsewhere) for a technical overview of OSMF.  I've posted the slides that I use for this purpose here:
    https://sourceforge.net/adobe/osmf/wiki/_discuss/thread/d6c3d719/1962/attachment/OSMF%20Ar chitectural%20Building%20Blocks.pdf
    The slides cover the fundamental building blocks of OSMF, things you are likely to use over and over if you're building complex media experiences.  They might shed some light on which different parts of OSMF should be used in which situations.

  • How do I use a MyVerizon ringtone I received in the form of a txt message? The long touch method on the media does not work, btw.

    I purchased a ringtone on My Verizon via my computer. They sent me txt message with the media but I can't figure out how to save it as a ringtone. The long touch method doesn't work. It's not anywhere in my media files, and frankly I just joined verizon but they have proven a bit difficult. On thin ice already, this isn't helping.

    Have you managed to save it to your phone?  If so, download a file explorer app (like Estrongs file explorer) from the Play Store.  Open up the file explorer app and navigate to the "Download" folder.  Scroll through your downloads to locate the ringtone file.  Select it and use the file explorer's copy or cut function to put the ringtone file in the clipboard.  Back out of the "download" folder to the "sdcard" level.  Then look for a "ringtones" folder.  Select it to open it and view the contents.  Using the file explorer, paste the ringtone file to that folder.  Back out of the file explorer app.  The ringtone will now be available in the "phone ringtone" selection list.

  • Link repositioning breaks the code

    This problem was reported on August 4th with no resolution. I have now updated to the latest version (Build 040621) on XP Pro, with Java 1.4.2_04, and the problem persists.
    I can't believe that links on a page cannot be repositioned without breaking the code. I may be doing something wrong but please try the following and tell me what result you get:
    1) - Create a New Project (nav4) - This creates a new page Page1.jsp
    2) - Drop an "output text" : value = Page 1 just to give it a visual title.
    3) - Right click on page1.jsp and select "Page Navigation"
    4) - Right Click on Page1.jsp in the navigation panel and select [New Page] . Create 2 new pages: Page2.jsp, Page3.jsp
    5) - Right Click on Page1.jsp and [Add button], [Add link] (as mentionned in tutorial)
    6) - to create a navigation link from page1.jsp to page2.jsp and page3.jsp, drag from the hyperlink on page1.jsp to page 2.jsp and the button on page1.jsp to page3.jsp
    7) - Double click on page2.jsp to open it into the design view, and drop an "output text" .Change its value to "page 2". Select page navigation again and do the same for page3.jsp . This is to show some kind of "message" on each page.
    Run the application and everything is fine.....
    Now I challenge you to move the Link on page1.jsp and see what happens.... The link won't work anymore... and you'll have to "undo" to get it to work again.
    If there is any other way I can get around this(short of hacking into the code), please let me know, this functionality is extremely important to my project.
    Thank you for your assistance.

    Hi John,
    Please do me a favour.
    After you moved the link, just verify which page the button forwards you to . You will see that after the link has moved,
    both the button and the link take you to the same page. In my case page2.jsp

  • Premiere Elements 9 Project Media View List & Icon Icons Gone

    Today at another forum that I frequent, a Premiere Elements 9 user was distressed because he could not find the List (Ctrl + Page Up) & Icon (Ctrl _ Page Down) icons that were found in the prior version of the Project Media View. The Icon view was particularly useful for sorting media before dragging to the Timeline or for the Create Slideshow feature. Now in Premiere Elements 9, all you have are your media in a list format with no option to sort.
    This person simultaneously posted his question at another forum for which he received a reply and a workaround  which included going into the Elements Organizer/Create/SlideShow Editor and create a slideshow that could be outputted (Edit in Premiere Elements) back into Premiere Elements 9. I would take issue with that suggested approach since I believe that there is an easier and quicker workaround to overcome the inconvenient loss of those features in Premiere Elements 9 Project Media View.
    First, the questions and then my workaround for this situation
    Does anyone know if Adobe is aware of this situation and intends to correct this oversight or intentional change in features?
    Has anyone come up with his/her favorite workaround for this matter?
    Bottom Line for my workaround: From Premiere Elements 9 workspace, go to Elements Organizer workspace and create a sorted album of the media brought into Premiere Elements 9 Get Media/Files & Folders. Then exist Elements Organizer, opening to Premiere Elements workspace where one uses Filter by: Select Album and does just that.
    I will post a step by step on my suggested workaround if requested.

    I was trying to be discreet and have us still remain friends, so I did not mention the responder at the other forum by name or place. You let the cat out of the bag. OK, no offense taken please, but I thought that your workaround "Elements Organizer/Create/Slideshow/Edit With Premiere Elements" was "not so good" a choice. I will owe up to that.
    None of the workarounds are as good as the Adobe Icon View of prior version, but....
    Workaround 1. If your interest is getting sorted photos for using the Create Slideshow Feature in Project Media View. The secret is to put the photos in a Folder and then move the photos around in the Folder. I can go into the choreography on that if need be. Then highlight all the photos in the Folder, select Create Slideshow. Even if you do not go the Create Slideshow route, this is one way to get sorted photos for the Timeline.
    Workaround 2. If the Create Slideshow feature is not involved. Going the create Album route in Elements Organizer.
    Premiere Elements 9 Get Media/Files and Folders
    Add Media Dialog
    Select photos, Click Open
    Select Organizer in the row above the line of Organize/Edit/Disc Menus/Share to open the Elements Organizer.
    In the Elements Organizer, go to the Albums category and expand that category, then click on the green cross, and select New Album. On that right side of the Elements Organizer you will see a window with two tabs, Content and Sharing. Select Content and drag your media from the major window on the left to the Content window on the right. Name the album and click Done.
    You will then see your Album name listed in the Album’s category. Click the green icon to the left of the Album name. When you do, you will see thumbnails for your photos numbered sequentially in the major window on the left side of the Elements Organizer. Sort the photos there as you want them arranged on the Timeline.Then exit Elements Organizer via File Menu/Exit.
    The Premiere Elements Organize workspace will open. Go to the Filter by: Select Album and do just that, selecting the sorted album that you just created. Highlight the photos  and drag them to the Timeline.
    That is what I have come up with so far. I have been doing a lot of retesting of the principle to make sure that it would work more than just the first time.
    What do you think? Contribution or first class dud??
    ATR
    Just another possible variation on the thought with regard to Create Slideshow....it might merit thinking about numerically or alphabetically ordering your photos in a Folder beforehand and then bringing the Folder into Premiere Elements so that you have the Folder in Project Media View...Select All...Right Click Highlight....Create Slideshow?????

  • Is this breaking the MVVM pattern?

    We've been having discussions lately as to what is acceptable to put in the code behind of a view, and what should go in the view model. I seem to be a lone voice, and wanted to hear what others have to say, as I haven't yet heard an argument that explains
    why I'm wrong, other than "That's not the way we do it," or "Because it breaks the pattern," neither of which are very compelling technical reasons. I'm keen to do it right, but only for the right reasons.
    As an example, suppose you want to create a quote for a customer. On the new quote details window, you click a button to open a PickCustomerWindow, from which you choose a customer, and are taken back to the quote details window with the customer selected.
    (I know this isn't necessarily the optimal way to do this, but it fits closely with how a lot of our windows work, so please bear with me)
    Now, others in the team insist that the "right" way to do this is have the customer list window send out a message with the picked customer, and have the quote details window's view model pick up that message and set the customer. I feel that this
    obfuscates the code for no apparent benefit (see below for why).
    I would prefer to do it as follows. The quote window's view would have code like the following in the event handler for the appropriate button...
    private void PickCustomer_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) {
    PickCustomerWindow pcw = new PickCustomerWindow();
    pcw.Closing += (_, __) => {
    if (pcw.Customer != null) {
    ((QuoteDetailsViewModel)DataContext).SetCustomer(pcw.Customer);
    pcw.ShowDialog(this);
    The SetCustomer() method on the QuoteDetailsViewModel class does the same as a ProcessMessage method would do, in that it gets a customer and does whatever the view model needs to do with it. The difference is that the SetCustomer() method can be accessed directly
    by the view that opened the PickCustomerWindow.
    If you wanted to simplify this code even more, you could omit the null check and have the view model do that, but I don't think you gain a great deal by that.
    In the words of Laurent Bugnion (creator of the MVVM Light Toolkit)...
    "Only put in the VM what should be tested by unit tests, shared with other projects, etc. If you have some view-only code, it is perfectly OK to leave it in the view only. If you need to compute some condition deciding if the child window should be
    opened or not, it is OK to create a method doing the calculation and returning a value, and to have the view call this method."
    I would say that my approach fits very well with his words.
    Now, I know that people like to keep code out of the view, and with good reason. However, the code above is so simple that there is no reason not to put it in the view, and you end up with a super-simple process that is easy to follow. If you want to know what
    happens when you click the button, you look at the view's code-behind, and can see the whole story. You can put your cursor on the SetCustomer() method and click "Navigate to" and you are taken directly to the code that deals with the customer.
    Writing unit tests against this becomes extremely easy. You simply create a customer entity, pass it to the SetCustomer() method and test whatever property of the view model is supposed to reflect the change. Very easy.
    Now, compare this approach with sending a message. Having looked at the quote window's view code to see what window gets opened, you need to go to that window, find out what its view model is called, look in the view model and find out what message is sent
    out when the customer is picked, find all usages of that message type in the solution, examine each one in turn to find out if it's the one that's relevant to you, and only then can you see what happens to the customer. That's a lot of messing around and a
    lot of wasted time to follow a simple process. In the code I showed above, you don't even need to look at the PickCustomerWindow or its view model, as you don't need to know what they do. All you need to know is that the window has a Customer property that
    returns the selected customer (or null if one wasn't selected).
    Furthermore, in order to write unit tests against the view model, you either have to simulate sending a message, which is a messy experience, or you have to make the ProcessMessage method public, which exposes something that has no reason to be exposed.
    A similar question comes up with using the event-to-command pattern, which I also feel is abused in the name of "doing it right." What is the point in the view sending a command to the view model, so that the view model can raise an event to tell
    the view to do something? The view already knows what it's supposed to do, so why not just let it do it? Yes, if there is testable code that is involved this needs to go in the view model, but then you just add a public method and allow the view to call that.
    Please re-read the end of Laurent Bugnion's words above, and you'll see that this is exactly what he suggests. What is the point of complicating the code with events that have no benefit at all?
    I'm all in favour of doing it the "right" way, but only when it really is right. A method that obfuscates the code for no reason isn't what I would call right. By contrast, a method than uses clean, simple and easily testable code, that can be understood
    immediately is defintely what I would call right.
    Does anyone have any comment one way or the other?

    Hello, thanks for the reply. I appreciate your time, and any comments below should be taken in that light! Yes, I'm going to argue back, but merely because I want to understand the logic here.
    >Handling click events of button in the code-behind of a view breaks the pattern
    Call me a heretic if you like, but I'm not interested in hearing this. Patterns are not carved in stone, never to be questioned. Patterns are established ways of doing something
    that have a specific benefit. (emphasis mine!). If I'm going to obfuscate the code, I want to know what the benefit is. Being able to hold my head up in dev meetings saying I don't break the pattern is not a benefit to me. Writing better code
    is, and that's what I'm trying to find out. I want to write better code, even if it breaks the pattern.
    >All application logic, for example what happens when you click a button, should be handled by the view model
    What is your definition of logic? Maybe it's just my mathematical background, but to me, logic is code that makes decisions, ie testable code. A single line of code that opens a window is not logic, and does not need testing. Why does it need to be handled
    by the view model?
    More to the point, why does a view model even have to know about windows? A view model should be completely view-agnostic, meaning it could function just as well with any view. The fact that the incoming customer (in my previous example) came from a window
    is irrelevant to the view model. All the view model needs to know is that it has been passed a customer. If you start allowing the view model to know about the UI, then you are mixing the layers.
    >Using your solution, how are you suppose to unit test what happens when a button is clicked without the view?
    You don't! That's precisely my point. The code I showed doesn't need testing,
    because it doesn't contain logic. What you need to test is what the view model does with the customer that it was given. How the view model gets the customer is not something (at least in an example as simple as mine) that needs testing.
    This is where I really can't see the obsession with shoving everything into the view model. If you have simple UI-related code that doesn't need testing, why not put it where it belongs, ie in the view?
    >Using an event aggregator or a messenger doesn't necessarily makes the code or the control flow easier to understand but it  makes the components more loosly coupled to each other
    Well, the view already knows about the view model, it has to, or it wouldn't be able to bind stuff to properties on it. I don't see that having the view call a method on its own view model is increasing any coupling. The other way around would be, as it
    would prevent you from testing the view model in isolation.
    Thanks for the reply, but to be honest, you've not really done much more than repeat the same sort of things I've heard before. I still haven't found any technical justification for the extra complexity. As far as I understand it, the ultimate purpose of
    these patterns is to allow you to test each piece in isolation, and the way I suggested provides for that, whilst keeping the code simple. What you are suggesting doesn't seem to offer any technical benefits, such as easier or more thorough testing, but does
    make the code significantly more complex.
    Please let me repeat that I really do appreciate your time, and am not trying to be rude or arrogant. I really want to understand why people insist on doing the way you are suggesting, but I want to understand it from a technical benefit point of view. What
    can I do better this way?
    Thanks again. I would be interested to hear what you have to say to my comments.

  • How can I disable a hover link in the phone view size?

    Hola
    How can I disable a hover link in the phone view size?
    I got this site where I got a gallery page,
    the pics have a hover/link state (?) where as you click in them
    they will open a bigger pic. (Prettyphoto)
    Thanks good.
    What I want to do, is that the hover state (?)
    won't show in the phone size.
    I know that I will need a media queries, but I'm not sure
    where or how to tackle this problem.
    This is the code where I have the pics
    <div class="grid_3 project-item bar">
                                             <figure class="project-img">
                                                 <img src="../images/gallery_pics/memos_bar_s5.jpg" alt="Memo's Cocina & Tequila Bar" />
                                                    <div class="overlay"></div>
                                                    <div class="mask">
                                                       <a class="icon-image"
                                                            href="../images/gallery_pics/memos_bar_b5.jpg"
                                                            rel="prettyphoto[gallery]"
                                                            title="The Bar">
                                                            <i class="icon-search"></i>
                                                     </a></div>
                                           </figure>
                                          </div>
    Thanks for your help

    If you don't want a :hover state to show in the phone css of a fluid grid layout, you would remove it from the global settings and only include it in the tablet and desktop media queries.
    Or are you trying to do something else?

    I bought a Sandisk Connect Media Drive, downloaded the app from iTunes.  Before iOS 8, movies played fine.  After iOS upgrade I can no longer play movies downloaded from iTunes to the media drive.  Anyone else have a similar issue?

    I checked with SanDisk's own online support and they indicate that they have notified Apple of the issue.
    According to SanDisk, the problem lies with Apple not having the iOS 8 version of the Safari browser having DRM decoding enabled that the Media Drive relies upon to decode and play iTunes DRM titles. Non DRM encoded videos will play in the browser.
    DRM audio is not effected as this is handled by the native iOS music app.
    As of the date of this post SanDisk have not been given a timeframe by Apple for this issue to be resolved.
    I hope that Apple resolves this issue quickly as I have a large collection of DRM video titles on a 128Mb memory card installed in the Media Drive that I am unable to view.
