10.7 windows keep blinking

On my work iMac the windows that I have open and in the foreground blink as if they are refreshing every few minutes. It's driving me crazy. I can't figure out what would be causing this? I have reset the PRAM thinking it was a screen issue but to no avail. It happens in all programmes and not just the Finder. Any help would be great. Thanks

Are you running Kaspersky security software on that PC? (There's been a few reports in recent times of Kaspersky interfering with iTunes installs, with that message being produced.)
If there is Kaspersky on board, we should try some general-principles getting-past-security-software-interference troubleshooting.
Download and save a fresh copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (32-bit installer file) or iTunes64Setup.exe to your Hard drive. (Don't run the install on line, and don't start the install just yet.)
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Restart the PC. After the PC restarts do not open any applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Now switch off all your security software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware).
Now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) file you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.
Any better luck with the security software shut down?

There is question mark in a folder that is blinking. When I try to boot up in a gray screen.  What do I do?

What version of  OS X are you running?
If it is Lion or later you do not have a OS X DVD in that case you will need to boot from the recovery partition.
Hold the command and R keys down while starting your machine. See OS X: About OS X Recovery

  • My iPod 4th-gen charges just fine in any wall outlet, but when connected to my brand new ASUS Windows-8 laptop's USB 3.0 port the charging process just keeps "blinking" on both the iPod and the laptop and will not connect to Itunes...

Hi, I HATE to ask for help with this, but I HAVE looked everywhere and Google searched different wordings and have not found anything similar nor a solution to my problem!                                                                                                                                                                                                                               My good old iPod 4th-gen charges just fine in any wall outlet, in any house, but when I connect it to my brand new ASUS laptop that has Windows-8 and 3.0 USB ports using the charging/data cable, the charging process just keeps "blinking" BOTH the iPod and the laptop and it will not connect to ITunes and I get "A Device is Detected" message that keeps popping up and going away over and over right above the Windows desktop toolbar.                                                               When I go to control panel and select "Devices" it does show the iPod, but for only a split second and than it disappears, but than it comes back again for a split second and than it disappears again and just keeps doing that over and over and over!                                                                                                                  I have tried resetting the iPod while it is plugged into the laptop by holding the power and menu buttons, that did no good.                                                             I also tried uninstalling iTunes and any other Apple stuff listed and reinstalling it all, that did NOT work!                                                                                          The iPod, the laptop and iTunes ARE all fully updated!                                                                                                                                                                I AM using a brand new charging/data cable that I just opened up an hour ago (I've learned to keep a few brand new ones around at all times since these piece of garbage rip-off cables hardly last a week, even when you baby them!). I also tried a few old cables, they all do the same thing!                                                       I would like to get this piece of junk to connect to my new laptop, even if only once, so that I can change/delete some songs and transfer a few dozen photos, since I haven't been able to do any of that stuff since my old laptop (that NEVER had any problems connecting) died way back in May! lol.                                                                                                                                                                                                 I hope somebody knows a fix or solution! Thank You!

  • Iphone 5 got wet, now apple logo keeps blinking and phone is unresponsive. When I try to restore it I get error code 21 then on another computer I get error code 2006.

My iPhone 5 got wet and I dried it out for 3 days. Now when I charge it the apple logo keeps blinking. Phone is unresponsive, so I tried to restore it but got error code 21. Tried on another computer and got error code 2006. Any suggestions, or is it impossible to get it back?

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.
    Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software. If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service.
If neither of those fix it, then it's toast. it will have to be replaced.

  • My Finder keeps blinking!

I started my iMac a few days ago, after a week when I had it turned off.
Now, the Finder keeps blinking! That is to say: When I keep an active Finder Window, it suddendly an reapetedly acts as if it was reloades or actualized.
Any clue on how to avoid this behavior?

Your Finder is crashing and then restarting.
In case a corrupted file is causing it:
Is this a particular folder you are looking at, or any old folder will do it?
In case third party software conflicts are causing it:
Does this happen for a different user, e.g., Guest user?
Does this happen when starting up in Safe Mode?
    In case preferences are corrupted:
Standard thing to try is to delete the Finder preferences. Copy and paste this into a Finder "Go to Folder" dialong (command-shift-G in Finder):
    ~/Library/Preferences/
    Trash (or move) com.apple.finder.plist

  • IPod keeps blinking and does not start up!

    Hi,
I braught an iPod of model number A1236 a year back. And did not use it for past 6 months.
Yesterday, I tried connecting it and it was working fine. Unfortunately, I just pulled off the USB cable without a safe remove of USB from windows or an eject from iTunes.
From that time, whenever I connect my iPod to my windows XP pro machine, the screen keeps blinking with the apple logo. Niether its recognized as USB device by windows nor iTunes recognizes it.
I tried, the troubleshooting steps provided in apple iPod technical site, none of them helped and I am also not able to put the iPod to disk mode.
I am not sure whats to be done next and I am afraid if I spoiled my iPod. Please suggest what to do next..
    Thanks,
    Jade

  • WRV200 Wireless light keeps blinking, no clients connected.

    Hi,
Sorry if this is a silly question, but im wondering why my linksys wrv200 wireless light on the router keeps blinking even though my wireless laptop is not turned on?  I checked the router status and no other clients are connected so im puzzled as to why the wireless activity light is blinking which shows activity as per the manual.
    Is this normal??
    Thanks

The DHCP client table only contains the computers which requested an IP address from your router. Any device/computer with a static IP address will never appear in that list. You cannot tell if a wireless client with a static IP address is still connected or not.
Wireless clients may (more likely) appear in the wireless client list. I don't know if the WRV200 has it or not. Usually you'll find the wireless client list by going to the wireless MAC filter setup tab. Enable the filter if it is not enabled (no need to save the setting), press edit filter list, and it pops up a window where you have another button "wireless client mac list". That button shows you a window of active and inactive wireless clients with their IP address. Any static IP address client should appear there, too. (If the list is not there, search the manual for it...)
You could make another test: change the SSID temporarily on the router to something else. A longer random string. Setup WPA2 with a random preshared key. Save the settings. Disconnect all computers from the router. Still blinking? Unplug the modem connection from the router. Still blinking? If the router is still blinking with nothing wired to it and a wireless network that nobody knows (yet), well, that should clearly indicate a router problem (or at least a wireless light problem). If that is the case it should not be too hard to bring the router back to the shop and show them what is happening.Message Edited by gv on 12-18-200605:43 PM

  • Firefox keeps blinking and stalling

I have used firefox for years. I like to keep a lot of tabs open so I don't have to search around.
Firefox keeps blinking and stalling as hour glass pause kicks in every 10-20 seconds. If trying to type it messes up your flow.
Don't know the cause. Suspect repeated ajax calls from some page but don't know which one.
Here's a jing video of the problem:

I see the whole window blanks out. What about the other windows?
What about the screen itself? Was Firefox full screen or less?

  • In Windows 8.1, the Thunderbird window keeps resizing

I have a new Transformer T100A laptop, running Windows 8.1 Pro. I run Thunderbird in desktop mode. The height of the Thunderbird window keeps getting small, while the width remains the same. I usually have my folder mails in the top pane, and the open message in the bottom pane. When I open Thunderbird, it often, but not always, comes up with such a short window that I can't see any of the open message at all, and only a few lines of the messages in the folder. This happens often even when I haven't closed Thunderbird, but the computer has gone into battery saving mode. This is not a huge problem, but it's annoying to have to resize the window almost every time I use Thunderbird.

I am trying to setup my Time capsule via a ethernet cable as a back up for a new iMac. The on button on the time capsule set up window keeps failing to stay on. Any ideas what to do?

A PC can have more issues connecting than a Mac.
But it really should not matter.. so just try it in situ.. press and hold the reset.. once it starts up, it will return to default IP, 10.0.1.1 the PC should then be able to find it via the airport utility.
If not drag it over to the Mac and plug in there by ethernet.. or since it is a laptop, really should not be that difficult to drag the Laptop and plug it into the TC.
Important thing is to get access to the TC.
The Mac if it is running lion, then you MUST download and install 5.6 airport utility to do anything useful.

  • New message window keeps popping up

The new message window keeps popping up without prompting, usually twice in a row. I notice
this particularly when I first open the Mail program. The funny thing is that you can't actually type in any text in the new message window. Any ideas???

It seemed to work itself out after several days.

  • Can anyone please tell me why the "Do you want to restart your computer now" window keeps popping up every two minutes? Please help! Its driving me nuts?

    Hi all.
I need some help. I have recently installed a new Hard Drive in my Macbook and have re-installed Snow Leopard. Since doing so there have been a few things that haven't been quite the same.
    1) Certain buttons decided they didnt want to work anymore. These being the Space Bar, the Tab key, all four arrow keys, Caps lock, Volume up, Eject, and a few others.
After putting up with this for a couple of weeks and looking at numerous forums, they all of a sudden came back to life (Hence why I'm actually able to type this message) THEN, they packed up again. Then started again, then packed again, and so on. They seem to have a mind of their own.
Please... does anyone know whats going on? Is it a hardware prob? Is it something to do with the way Ive installed the Hard Drive? Have I forgotten to do something?
    2) Ever since my buttons initially came back to life, the "Do you want to restart you computer?" window keeps popping up every couple of minutes.
It's the window that says "Restart, Sleep, Cancel, Shut Down"
It's driving me insane and I can't help but think that the two probs are related.
If anyone out there has any ideas at all, they would be most welcome.
    Many thanks in advance

Have you tried reinstalling the original drive? Same symptoms with it?
