10.8.1 fails to detect projector
After I upgraded to 10.8 I got a problem with detecting my Optoma projector. In 10.8.0 my MacBook Pro (late 2008) would detect the projector after a restart with the projector connected and on. In 10.8.1 this does not happen. I use this projector on a daily basis and sorely need a fix. It has worked fine with 10.6 and 10.7 on the same MacBook Pro using exactly the same cables. I am using a displayport to HDMI-adapter.
I have tried to detect displays, but that possibility is no longer there with 10.8.1. I have downloaded and installed Display Menu, but this did not help either.
I have done some testing on an external HD so not to screw up my mac. The only app so far which causes the install error message is VirusBarrier X 10.6.18 if it is active I get the error on any install of an update. I also have Little Snitch preview 3 (3864) with this active no error messages.
I have sent a message to intego regarding the problem and awaiting a response as it has only happened since 10.8.1 for me.
I am also wondering if there maybe an unerlying issue within the 10.8.1 update itself to some extent.
Hopefully a fix will appear soon as it is rather annoying to see the error.
If I get any more info I will post it here to help others

PB detects projector but not 20" Display
I'm having a strange problem when connecting my 15" PowerBook G4 Ti DVI to a new 20" Apple Cinema Display (ACD). When I first got the display, I was able to connect just fine for about 8 weeks. I went on a trip and since my return, the PB won't detect the display.
I took the PB to a Mac store and tried connecting to another 20" ACD... no luck. This lead me to believe that the PB display adapter was shot. However, I just tried to connect a Benq digital projector via VGA and the PB detects the projector without issue and works in both dual display and mirroring modes.
So far I have reset the PRAM, the NVRAM, and the PMU, but it didn't help.
I've also repaired permissions and repaired the disk (no errors found). Again, no luck.
Finally, I tried closing the lid on the PB and clicking the external mouse to see if I could force the PB to display to the external 20" ACD. The technique worked for the Benq projector, but failed for the ACD.
At this point, I'm not even sure how else to troubleshoot this issue, let alone fix it.
Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? Could it be a corrupted driver? Is there any way to reload Apple display drivers without having to do a fresh OS install?
Your help is greatly appreciated!
15" PowerBook G4 Ti DVI Mac OS X (10.4.8) 20" Apple Cinema DisplayHi, Wesley. Is it possible that your monitor's DVI cable has been damaged? You've verified that your DVI port is good, and also that your DVI->VGA adapter (and of course the projector's VGA cable) are good. If the DVI cable is detachable from the monitor, I'd try a different one and see whether the results are better.
I took the PB to a Mac store and tried connecting to another 20" ACD... no luck. This lead me to believe that the PB display adapter was shot.
When you tested with the display in the store, were you using your own display cable or the store's? Why did that test, which failed, suggest to you that your display adapter was bad? It wasn't in use when you connected a DVI display to a DVI Powerbook, was it? What did the store staff say when your Powerbook failed to detect their display?
You do have a warranty and free phone support for the display; I think I'd go ahead and contact AppleCare about the problem and see whether someone there can help you. I see you've also posted in the Displays forum here; that was a good idea too. -
Macbook will not detect projector?
Macbook will not detect projector?
Just had problems today and spent an hour with an Apple tech. Gave up, called Dell (India) gave up. Rebooted computer and low and behold it worked. That after trying just about everything and being totally convinced that the problem had to be with the projector. So if all else fails, reboot.

(2) Stopped Windows Update Services, renamed SoftwareDistribution folder and started the window update services and rebooted.
(3) Ran MS FIXIT
(4) Ran System File checker Scan (sfc /scannow)
(5) Ran CHKDSK /F
(6) Installed "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" drivers from Lenovo site
(7) Ran Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB971033)
None of the above possible recommended solutions were able to fix the issue yet and now I am getting a message your Window is Not Genuine!
Any help or guidance is appreciated.
Solved!
Go to Solution. The Lenovo System Update installed the "Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver 8.9.2.1002" right before the Windows Upgrade got broken. So in the Device Manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, I choose Intel ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller, on the Driver Tab, I choose the option "Roll Back Driver" and after rolling back the driver and restarting the OS, now Windows Update is working like a Champ!

Hi Experts,
We have installed UISKPI01 in SAP NetWeaver Gateway System for Fiori Analytical Apps (KPI modeler is necessary to model the KPI) but while trying to create and Save the Group, we are Getting an error in KPI Modeler as "{"customMessage":"failed to detect the sap language of the current session language","status":500}". Similarly, when we are trying to edit the existing KPI template and assigning the Variants and Evaluations, we are facing the same error as failed to detect the sap language of the current session language","status":500.
Any idea on above error?
Thanking you,
~ MahendraHello Mahendra,
Check if you have entries in the T002 table of SAP_SSB schema.
If not follow the steps mentioned in the admin guide of SAP Smart business to populate data.
This should resolve this issue.
Note: My assumption is that, you are accessing the KPI modeler in English Language.
Thanks,

Windows Install fails to detect VSTO 4.0 in Windows machine
I’ve to install excel based application developed in VS 2010.
Windows installer fails while detecting VSTO in Windows 7/8/8.1. Its perquisites are .Net framework 4.0 client frame work and VSTO 4.0.
Even we have installed VSTO manually and re-run our setup and again we are getting the same error (“Installer was not able to automatically download the VSTO installation”), the custom message. Don’t know what is blocking to detect VSTO on some particular
machine. I'm using only this condition "VSTORUNTIMEREDIST>="10.0.30319" as in Launch Conditions from last 3 years.
Now from last couple of months I'm getting this error when instating my application, somehow when I add another condition i.e. VSTORUNTIMEREDIST>="10.0.30319" OR OFFICERUNTIME>=”10.0.21022”, it works properly.
I want to know that is there any windows patch is released due to which my installer is not able to detect VSTO in machine.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks Utshek Jain> Is VSTO Runtime detection depends on full edition of .NET framework?

X fails to detect monitor supported resolutions
I have 3 monitors connected to a Radeon HD 7750, using the radeon driver:
Left: NEC MultiSync 90GX², 1280x1024, connected via DisplayPort-to-VGA adaptor
Middle: Samsung SyncMaster BX2335, 1920x1080, connected via DVI
Right: LG Flatron Wide, 1680x1050, connected via HDMI
On every reboot (warm or cold), X fails to detect the NEC monitor's supported resolutions. xrandr will only set it to 1024x768 or less, and it shows "no signal". However if I disconnect the VGA cable, plug it into another monitor (which is broken, but still powers on), and run xrandr again, it lists up to 1280x1024. If I then set the correct modes and layouts, then return the VGA cable to the NEC monitor, it works just fine. Turning the display off via xset doesn't cause any issue either. So on every reboot I have to move the cable to a spare monitor, set up xrandr, then move the cable back.
How can I save this working configuration and force X to apply it on boot even though the monitor for some reason claims to not support it?
I didn't have this issue with Ubuntu, but my setup was a bit different there, so possibly it just didn't manifest.
Here is the Xorg.0.log and journalctl -k from the most recent boot. The get-edid output is also interesting (and contains some control characters which pastebin removed). The NEC on DVI would be only temporarily to get it's real edid-data .
Once you got that in a file, you can use a special kernel parameter at boot to force use of the real edid-data for the NEC monitor.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … s_and_EDID describes how it could be done.
Note that configuring this is tricky. -
Acrobat X selection tool fails to detect paragraphs of text...
Acrobat X selection tool fails to detect paragraphs of text. Manually selected paragraphs have broken sentences with line breaks. This problem is also noticed when you attempt to triple click a paragraph and only one line of text is selected instead of a paragraph. Can this be fixed?
can't it tell by the visual formatting of indents, text proximity/clusters, etc? if humans can tell, why can't acrobat be trained to tell?

Failed to detect if this server is joined to a server farm
Hi,
We run our intranet on a virtual server. the other day it crashed and we restored it from a previous point
However when we launch the intranet we just get a an unexpected error has occurred. I am able to get into central admin but that's about it
I though of maybe running the product config wizard but it get an error saying "failed to detect if this server is joined to a server farm. Possible reasons for this failure could be that you no longer have the appropriate permissions to the server
farm, the database server hosting the server farm is in responsive, the configuration database is inaccessible or this server has been removed from the server farm"
this is what the logs it tell you to look in says:01/30/2014 10:03:01 1 INF Leaving function StringResourceManager.GetResourceString

That is another classic symptom of a WD hard drive being jumpered as either a master or a slave when there is no other drive on the cable with it. If the drive is the only drive on the cable, then remove the jumper from the drive. -
Hello
I fitted a Samsung SSD to my xw6400, after updating the BIOS and applying the BIOS settings outlined elsewhere. I never did manage to get AHCI Mode actuivated, even after doing a complete reinstall of Windows 8 and 8.1, but the performance boost is quite good enough without it.
My concern is that sometimes when I restart the machine from Windows, it will fail to detect the SSD, which is the system drive. It doesn't happen often and it's not a big deal anyway, since, if I switch off and on again, it does always discover it at power-on. This may prove to be a problem, though, if I'm away from home and need to access the machine remotely. Of course, I could avoid it by switching off Windows automatic updates before I leave home, but the problem is being old, so I will probably forget.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can remedy this?
Thanks in advance.Hi:
If you are using a SATA III SSD, this may be the problem...

I had the same thing happen to me on my dc7800 CMT when I installed a SATA III WD mechanical hard drive.
When I put the HP 1 TB Seagate hard drive from my HP 8200 Elite into the dc7800, it worked just fine as did the WD SATA III drive in my 8200 Elite. -
Zsnes 1.42 fails to detect opengl libs
Hi there,
I'm new to archlinux (although not new to linux in general) and really like it so far. However I'm having some problems with compiling zsnes 1.42. For some reason zsnes fails to detect opengl.
I'm running libgl 7.0.3rc1-1 and mesa 7.0.3rc1-1 and use the intel video driver in X.
However the configure script from zsnes outputs:
checking for glGetError in -lGL... no
checking for OpenGL... no
my config.log
I'm using 1.42 and not the version available in pacman, because newer zsnes versions lack support for netplay.Hi there,

JDS fails to detect wireless LAN Card
I've installed JDS on my Dell laptop (Latitude C840). The network works fine with my wired LAN card - 3COM 3C920-TX. However, JDS fails to detect my wireless card - "True Mobile 1150". Any idea?
Winston:
I would appreciate any info you can provide on how you got the 3com network card to work.
I have a 3com 3c940 in my ASUS p4p800 and the
JDS doesn't install it.
3com say the 3c940 is compatible with Linux 2.4 kernel and SuSE, so theoritically Sun should have installed it correctly, not so.
ASUS says I need kernel source installed in
/usr/src/linux - there is no such directory.
The nonexistent manual in Java Desktop certainly doesn't help.
Any help would be appreciated.
Can I install the latest GCC compiler or do I need to recompile a pile of programs to use it.
I believe the ATI video card needs files and compilers installed, which the default install did not do.
Thanks in advance for all and any help.
New to Linux, like the JDS all except the network issues. Wireless doesn't work and realize it is because a huge company like Cisco, the grand daddy of networking which brought Linksys are not supporting the broadcom chipset. ARGH!! -
[SOLVED] Brasero fails to detect blank discs
This has been an issue for a long time now, but find it time to ask about it. My problem is that Brasero doesn't detect blank discs. However, with Nautilus it detects the disc perfectly, the same with wodim.
Why is is that Brasero fails to detect my discs? Is this a package error, or what?

I got same problem and accidentaly resolved it while I was trying to get trash and external devices working with pcmanfm2. You need to install gvfs and add "dbus-launch" to your xinitrc, eg:
exec dbus-launch openbox-session
or run brasero by
dbus-launch brasero
hope it helps
Indeed, starting Brasero with dbus-launch resolves the problem!
Thanks, man!
