If you boot into Safe Mode and operate do you still get kernel panics?
In particular you need to remove the software that installed the following extensions:
org.fuse4x.kext.fuse4x 0.9.2
com.logmein.driver.LogMeInSoundDriver 1.0.3
com.squirrels.driver.AirParrotSpeakers 1.8
Booting into safe mode should prevent them from loading, but it would be preferable to uninstall the software completely.
Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications. Here is a selection:
1. AppZapper 2.0.1
2. AppDelete 3.2.6
3. Automaton 1.50
4. Hazel
5. AppCleaner 2.1.0
6. CleanApp
7. iTrash 1.8.2
8. Amnesia
9. Uninstaller 1.15.1
10. Spring Cleaning 11.0.1

Kernal panic preventing shut down after Mountain Lion upgrade
Following upgrade to Mountain Lion, kernal panics are stopping shut down of my Mac from the apple menu. I have a late-2009 Mac Mini. OS X closes as normal but then restarts with message "Your computer restarted because of a problem". I have performed disk verfication, repaired permissions, reset VRAM and SMC. Booting from original hardware disc allows a normal shut down, so I suspect this is software related (probably Mountain Lion?). Kernal panic report from Console is below.
Reading this https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4135480?start=30&tstart=0 suggests problems with nvidia cards and Mountain Lion. My Mac Mini has the original nvidia card it shipped with (9600M) and if I disconnect the display just before shut down it (usually) seems to shut down normally so might be display related?
Other than the problem with shutting down everything is working normally. First instance of this problem was immediately after installing Mountain Lion. I am currently considering a full-reinstall of Mountain Lion from the recovery partition and using Time Machine to retrieve my settings etc, although I am concerned this will not work if it is a genuine bug.
Any assistance or solutions gratefully received!

com.apple.kec.corecrypto 1.0Hello hotdavesweet,
It sounds like you have exactly the same problem as I have - nothing connected except the TV, permissions repaired, PRAM reset, etc.
Are you using Mountain Lion?? I had to downgrade to Lion to solve it. Unfortunately, a very similar problem occurs with the latest version of Lion (10.7.5). I'm sure that something with the latest updates is causing problems on certain Macs. I've filed a bug report with Apple so it may help if you do the same.
It could be a problem with using Samsung LCD TVs as monitors. Or maybe a graphics card issue - the user in this discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4316892?start=15&tstart=0 noted that a similar problem on a 2009 Mac Pro was caused by their (nvidia) graphics card driver.
Either way, I think it is something that Apple should address, even if it is only affecting a few users. Apple's mantra used to be that everything just works, but now I cannot upgrade to Mountain Lion with my setup (despite my Mac being easily capable of running it) and nor can I upgrade to Lion 10.7.5. It doesn't work as it should. -
Just upgraded to Leopard now I get constant kernal panics!
I just upgraded my G4 PPC to 10.5.8. I can do things okay on my computer for a while then it does the kernal panic. All updates have been done except the prokit 5 one (I use logic and the last upgrade messed with it). Could this be causing the issue? Here is the info. I hope someone can help so I can start doing more recording!

Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your currently installed OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Now, you did not indicate if this upgrade to 10.5.8 was from an earlier version of Leopard or if you first upgraded to Leopard then to 10.5.8 using the combo updater. I'm assuming the former, so after you've done the above repairs reinstall the 10.5.8 Combo Updater. If you did not use a Combo Updater, then you can download it from support.apple.com/downloads/.
If the above doesn't help then I would suggest reinstalling OS X as follows:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.
And, if the above doesn't help start looking at the probability of bad RAM. -
Upgrading my 1ghz Emac G4 to Tiger - kernal panic screen
Hi guys. Fitsyly I apollogise if this has been covered before but please point me in the correct direction if it has.
I have bought a Black DVD install disc for Tiger osx, to upgrade my Emac from 10.3.9. My Emac has a DVD reader/writer...
When I retsart the computer from the disc, I get the kernal panic restart screen, with some white code over the top...
Firstly why is it doing that? Secondly can I upgrade my OS to Tiger or above?

Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger system requirements
If you have enough RAM you should be right. If the eMac is fast enough it can even run Leopard.
But to the difficult question of why is it kernel panicking, well there is no simple answer, as it could be any number of things from defective RAM to an aberrant USB device - it is usually hardware.
Here are some links for you to explore.

Kernal Panic on hard drive sleep after upgrade to OS X 10.7.5 Macbook Pro 2012
After I installed the update to OS X 10.7.5, there is a kernal panic whenever my hard drive goes to sleep. I have reinstalled the OS, reset the NVRAM, run permissions and disk repair from internet recovery mode and am still having the problem. Any suggestions?

I was not able to get the machince to boot into Safe Mode. The progress bar stopped at arounf 25% and would not move.
I did go ahead and delete the software you mentioned as a way of troubleshoting the initial problem, with no sucess.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

How to resolve a Kernal Panic in Leopard
I am pulling my hair out with my MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Laptop running with Leopard.
3 weeks ago my laptop had a Kernal Panic. I made sure I had all my files backed up to my external drive which is a Western Digital My Book Essential Edition with 1 TB/TO of memory. At that time, I was using CS4 Photoshop, InDesign, Microsoft Word, Acrobat and Mail. I had large size photos saved on my hard drive and small movie clips so I removed them and only have my current work files saved on the hard drive and past work files saved on my external drive and any files I don't want to loose for sure burned to CDs. I was able to rule out that it is not a hardware issue by running Disk Utility from my OS disk. Then I uninstalled CS4 Design Premium. My laptop worked great for a couple of days without it. I then reinstalled CS4 and started having the Kernal Panics again. I thought Photoshop and InDesign was causing the problem. I decided to uninstall CS4 again then just install Dreamweaver and Fireworks because I needed to use them for a project. My laptop was working great for a couple of days then I had another Kernal Panic. Also, I noticed if I had my external drive plugged in it would slow down my computer so I only connect it when I am ready to back up my files for the day. So now I think I need to reinstall my OS. Below is today's Kernal Panic report. Can anyone help me interpret this and tell me what I am doing wrong/suggest solutions to resolve this? I am also thinking of upgrading my hard drive since it only has 160GB of memory and from what I read I need at least 120GB free to run Photoshop alone. Also upgrade the RAM...currently have 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM? Thanks.

10.6.7 + Aperture 3.1.1 = Kernal Panic - Help Please!
Since upgrading to 10.6.7 I've had two kernal panics when using Aperture. The following is the KP report. Any thoughts on what's happening?
FWIW, I've also been having freezes in one of my user accounts that seem pretty random.
Thanks.

Windowserver crashes and kernal panics from iPhoto in Mountain Lion
I am using a Mid2010 MBP 15inch i7. I have just upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion. Currently whenever I try to open iPhoto my MBP completely crashes and reboots woith each report stating a windowserver crash or occasionaly a kernal panic. I was having similar problems in Lion when with windowserver crashes when switching between windows or scrolling in Numbers or switching to iPhoto from other apps. I upgraded to ML because I was told this may fix the issue. Now i can't keen open iPhoto. I have Pram restarted and iPhoto opens but as soon as an image is selected I have another window server crash. Pre ML install I did a clean install of Lion and it made no difference.
Posted below is a copy of my last error report. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully no one here told you that. A common theme is people blaming all problem on Lion or Mountain Lion, whatever operating system was just released and telling people with obvious hardware problems that they need to wait for a "bug fix". Updates come and updates go - taking warranties with them - but no fix ever happens.
There is a small possibility that the "Soundflower" kernel extension is giving you problems. It is very unusual to see a kernel panic without Soundflower being listed. If you remove that and still have panics, then it is definitely a hardware problem. -
I upgraded the ram and hdd a while back(RAM first with no issues, then hdd around 2 months later). The computer started freezing a few days after the hdd upgrade.
I reformatted the hdd and it worked fine for a few weeks then same freezing issue. Instead of wiping the drive again I repaired the disc and this had it fixed for about a month. I was booting in safe mode for a few days with no issue and went about uninstalling 3rd party apps. Then the Kernal panic issue started, When I inserted the OS cd the screen went blank and has not come back on after repeated boots.
Can we put this down to logic board and if so can it be repaired rather than replaced?
Thanksthanks for the reply,
just reinstalled the factory RAM and HDD. Same issue of blank screen. At the moment i have no way of connecting to external monitor.
The OS cd is still in drive and i can hear the drive spinning for a few seconds at the start but it stops after about 20 seconds. -
I just installed Snow Leopard 10.6 from Apple's Install DVD on a brand new HD (I did this from another Mac via USB)
I then installed that HD into my wife's iMac (2007, model identifier 7.1). I also upgraded the RAM from 2 to 4GB. All seemed to go very smoothly. It booted up perfectly. Just like a new Mac (welcome animation).
I used Software Update and updated system software to 10.6.5, using the Combo update. Rebooted perfectly. I started changing preferences, adding printers, etc. All was fine.
Then I started getting a VOLLEY of error messages, many of them in a row, necessitating many OK enters. This happened after changing sharing privileges:
"Impossible to use the system extension. The extension system "/System/Library/Extensions/IOPCIfamily.ketx" has not been installed correctly and cannot be used. Try to reinstall it or contact the producer for an update"
Again, this type of message appeared many times about a large number of extensions. It seemed to go away.
Then with the computer shut down, I plugged in a Firewire 800 external hard drive (powered down) to prepare to bring in her data. I rebooted and then I got the following grey screen Kernal Panic message:
panic(cpu0caller 0x55bfa5) "Unable to find driver for this platform ACPI " SourceCsche/xnu/xnu-1504.9.17/iokit/Kernel/IOPlatformExpert.cpp:1389
I keep getting this message, even with the external HD not connected. I put the old RAM back in, assuming the new RAM might be bad. Same problem.
It will not let me start up from Apple System DVD! It kicks out the DVD and shows the grey screen Kernal Panic messagemessage.
I cannot start up using SHIFT key or COMMAND-S key or the COMMAND-V key to use the "fsck -fy" command. Nor can I do a hardware test by holding down the D key at startup. Nor does a PRAM reset help.
Any help with this? The initial error you described sounds like the result of a badly performed update:

This is the message you get when the owner/permissions of a kext are not correct (usually when someone manually installs a kext without repairing permissions).
panic(cpu0caller 0x55bfa5) "Unable to find driver for this platform ACPI " SourceCsche/xnu/xnu-1504.9.17/iokit/Kernel/IOPlatformExpert.cpp:1389
I haven't seen this before but it sounds like it is related... the problem is to do with accessing things, (permissions)
What exactly did you change when you say "changing sharing privileges"?
Also when booting from the install DVD make sure it's actually trying to boot from the DVD by ether holding down "c" as soon as you press the power button... or holding down "option" aka "alt" and then selecting the DVD from the boot menu. -
Kernal Panic, Finder Crashing, Overall poor Performance
I've had the Finder crash a ton lately. I've done an erase and install, no change. Got a Kernal Panic 2 days after the erase and install while installing Logic Pro. Talked to a Genius, could be hard drive, ram, Logic Board. I have a Console log from the KP here.

Could It possibly be an external drive I have plugged in via eSATA. The Genius recommended that I replace the internal drive but I don't want to do it if I that's not what's wrong.
Anyone have suggestions. This line got my attention:
com.SiliconImage.driver.Si3132(1.1.9)@0x6c5000->0x6d8fff
What do you have installed or attached that has a similar name? I had KPs on an older Mac and it turned out to be an unneeded hardware driver that the log reported in about the same position as your "SiliconImage" entry.
If that driver is part of a "must have" program or piece of hardware, see if a newer driver version is available.
Search the Apple forums for com.SiliconImage.driver and also Google it. I see several references to eSATA cards that use this driver and that upgrading to a higher version helps. Silicon Image makes chips and maybe complete eSATA cards. -
Kernal Panic early in boot up.
Got myself a brand spankin new MBP 15in 2.4 the other day!
But, first time bootin the sucker up, got a kernal panic not 2 seconds into boot. Didn't even get past the white screen with the apple logo. Hm... Not a good sign... Especially when you're booting it up for the first time at the apple store
Ok, shut down, boot up again. Oh! Kernal panick again. Hmmmm... Shut down, boot up. No problems this time.
So I thought, well, I guess that's that.
Then just last night, tried booting up again, got the same kernal panic at early boot.
So I figure it's probably only when the computer is cold booting. Which seems to me like it would be some kind of hardware issue.
Good thing for me I got AppleCare after learning my lesson with a harddrive on a powerbook but I wanted to see what everyone else thinks of this just for my knowledge.
Laptop is sitting in my car right now, off, hopefully cold enough so that when I go to the Apple store later today it'll panic for the nice guys at the store.
By the way, this is the first product I got with AppleCare, am I supposed to set up some kind of appt. with them or can I just show up?
Message was edited by: Musashi StrebeWell, I took it back to the store to get it exchanged, but they decided to run an Airport upgrade that apparently isn't released through software update... AirportExtremeUpdate2007004.dmg is the file.
So far, no kernal panics... and it's been 2 weeks. Granted, I don't shut down my computer often now that I've completely transferred from my old powerbook.
The laptop does freeze occasionally coming out of sleep, I don't think it's a related issue, but I'll search on it anyway. -
Kernal Panic with Airport every few minutes
For a few weeks now my MacBook Pro began to have kernal panics once every 3 or 4 days. These kernal panics always happened at home and almost never at work. At work I am always plugged into Ethernet and at home I connect via an Airport Snow base station - 802.11b. So I have read a few post talking about the same exact issue as mine. Last night I got to the point where my MBP had a kernal panic every minutes and eventualy started to get the kernal panics durning the apple boot screen (Grey apple logo on darker gray back round).
So I booted into Safe Boot and then repaired permissions. I was able to do a normal boot after that however I did kernal panic over and over every few minutes. So I decided to upgrade from 10.4.7 to 10.4.8. Before I did this I trashed my airport prefs and ran another repair on my disk permissions. The upgrade went well. I noticed that my boot time is about 30 seconds longer and about 15 degrees cooler - Based on Core Duo Temp .
After work I turned on my MBP to test the airport and within about 20 seconds of sitting idle and not a single appliction open I got a Kernal panic...
Is there somthing anyone can suggest. Something I haven't tried or maybe a work around until the issue is address in the next release of Mac OS X.
I will post some of my panic log below which only goes back 5 days. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. My next step is to call Apple but I thought this forum would be faster.

No updates available for this machine, so I'm not sure what to do. Panic never occurs at home, only at work. And only after moving to a new office. The big difference is that I many more WLANs at the new location. Perhaps its the amount of them, or one specific that the AirPort cannot handle properly. Waiting for apple patch ....

Kernal Panic - iMac G5 - 10.3
Hi,
On my iMac G5, running panther I get this
When using Apple Mail sometimes when I open it the screen goes fuzzy and after a minute or so a kernal panic occurs. When I reboot all my mail is set to unread!
Any suggestions on what to do?
Thanks a lot
TomWelcome To Discussions Hi Tom!
Is this OS X Kernel Panic, what is happening?
Exactly which model iMac G5 is it
Which version of OS X is installed?
What size is the Hard Drive, and how much space is available?
How much RAM is installed, and is it original or added?
What peripherals do you have connected to the iMac?
Is there any consistency as to when it happens. For example, when you are using certain programs or applications?
Are there any programs or applications, that are set to load at Startup?
What happened shortly before this issue originated.
Did you make any changes, like upgrading the system, update or install any applications or programs, new hardware or peripherals, etc?
Have there been any unusual occurences, like freezes, crashes, power outages, etc?
Are you able to startup from the system install disc to run Repair Disk?
THESE ARE THE STEPS FOR USING DISK UTILITY TO REPAIR YOUR HD
1.Insert the System Install disk, Mac OS X CD-ROM disk, or Restore DVD disk, then restart the computer while holding the C key. Use the System disk, of the OS, that is currently installed.
2.Once started up from CD or DVD, on the Menubar at the top of the screen, choose Disk Utility from the Installer contextual menu for Panther, or Utilities for Tiger.
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from disc to access Disk Utility.
3.Click the First Aid tab.
4.Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5.Select your Mac OS X volume, if necessary.
6.Click Repair. If DU reports errors it has fixed, re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported.
7.Repeat steps 5 & 6, but select the Hard Drive this time. It's usually the first listed with the manufacturer's model number. Make note of the S.M.A.R.T. status.
8.When finished, select Quit Disk Utility from the Installer menu.
9.Select Quit Installer from the Installer menu.
10.In the resulting pop-up window, choose restart.
11.After the computer has restarted, you can eject the CD.
Post the results.

IMac experiencing kernal panic. What hardware could be at fault?
My 21 inch iMac running Snow leopard with a 1.83 Ghz processor is not functioning properly. I purchased the computer used from a local university and after a few months of running Leopard it displayed the gray kernal panic screen that says "you need to restart your computer". I wiped the hard drive and did a fresh instal of Leopard and upgraded to Snow Leopard. Computer ran fine for a month or so and is now malfunctioning again.
Symptoms are:
1. Programs crashing - spontaneous crashing during use or occasionally complete failure to open a program before it quits. Restarting the computer usually fixes this problem
2. Hardware (iSight camera and airport card) not recognized. Restarting the computer sometimes fixes this problem.
3. Boot failure - either sits at the screen with the apple logo and spinning wheel or gets stuck at the first blue screen.
4. Computer has not yet displayed a kernal panic screen since reinstalling the OS
Any ideas for what hardware/software might be at fault or a course of action to further diagnose the problem? Local IT department just gave me the run-around.Thanks everyone. Here is the most recent entry in the DiagnosticReports folder:
