10.9 Changes to PasswordServer External Command
Has anyone noticed any 10.9 changes in regards to passwordserver's external commands ?
On 10.8 servers, I have modified the LDAP cn=config,cn=passwordserver apple-xmlplist entry to have it launch /usr/bin/authserver/tools/myscript on each password change. This in turn computes a hash that I can use to sync passwords with Google.
On the 10.9 boxes, however, I've noticed that the apple-xmlplist entry was missing. I've tried re-creating it with the same content as on the 10.8 machines, and then restarting both passwordserver and opendirectory but I'm not seeing the script getting launched.
Anyone have a hint ?

It seems that Apple changed from MIT Kerberos to Heimdal Kerberos.
That's why some features, like the external-commands, are not available anymore.
However the Heimdal Kerberos has a function called "external-check". This function allows you to specify an external program which checks whether the password meets the password-requirements (see: http://www.h5l.org/manual/HEAD/info/heimdal/Password-changing.html#Password-chan ging).
It seems that this features is also implemented in the OSX Server (see: https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/ man5/krb5.conf.5.html).
I think it should be possible to define this option and use an external script to get the password in cleartext.

Change status(Active/Inactive) of file adapter by the external command
Hi, all.
Is it possible to change status(Active/Inactive) of file adapter by the external command?
Let's say, like
"$ switch_file_adapter_status.sh <File Adapter name> <active|inactive>"
or something like that.
Actually, we have the following requirement for the file adapter.
For example, we have many "file adapter to R/3" scenarios and we only want to allow data transfer between 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.(R/3 service time).
In order to achieve this requirement, one option would be to switch file adapter status between active and inactive by external command line.
And this command will be controlled by the job scheduler(like Tivoli).
Does XI(3.0 or above) have this kind of feature?
Best Regards.Hi,
I don't think that this is possible.
But one Solution for your problem could be a job on xi who execute the Queue.
So that Adapter work the hole time and send the Message to XI Queue which process them not automatically.
And the XI Queue you can trigger with a Job like normal R/3 Jobs.
Hope that helps,
Regards,

You need specialized +Data Recovery+ software, or a service that performs the function. It's not cheap, and there are no guarantees.
The app mentioned here most often is +Data Rescue 3,+ but I haven't used it myself, so can't recommend it over any of the others.
Some of these have a free "trial mode," that will tell you if there's anything to be recovered, and perhaps recover a single file. For more, you have to pay the $$.
You'll also need another drive to receive anything it can recover.
PS. Will order a time machine after submitting this question
You already have +Time Machine.+ It's part of OSX Leopard and Snow Leopard. It can back up to an external drive, or a Time Capsule (Apple hardware - combination of wireless router and hard drive), or a shared drive on another Mac.
When you get to it, you might want to review these:

GZIP and External command.
Hello,
My problem might seem simple but I have tried for a couple of days now to make researches on that matter and it still doesn't work, no matter what.
I had to make, with SM69, two external commands. One was using the command "mv" which is working very well and the other must be a "gzip" with a parameter "-c" and, in a module function, with the function "SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE_LONG", I have to send the path and the file name.
So since I am not able to make it work in the module function I'm creating, I am working to make it work on SM69. So here what I have entered so far...
Operating System Command: gzip
Parameters for operating sytem command: -c
Additional parameters: path/file.txt > newpath/file.txt.gz
Though, the only thing I am receiving is no change at all and I'm receiving u2039 È ®J as a message. The Exit code is at 1 and the exit status is E.
I know it means there is something wrong but all my researches lead me to do it that way so I'm not sure where I am going wrong and how to make it work appropriately.
Can you please help me?
I am open to questions if you have any.

How to execute a external command ?
Hi all ,
I would like to transfer the oracle data to sql2000 , my idea is :
- 1. write a external java program ( call trans.jar ) on oracle db server machine ( call sql2000 server to invoke the dtsrun.exe )
- 2. create a dts package on sql2000 server .
- 3. write an abap program in sap ( when the end-user execute this program , the trans.jar will call the dts package on sql2000 server ) .
I know that we can use sm69 to define the external program , but i don't know how to use abap/4 to invoke this external program ? has someone can tell me how to do ?
Thanks a lot !

Executing external command and program in background
Hi,
how to execute external command and external program in background.
please provide me some tips on the same.
while creating external command, what is the significance of "operating system command" and "parameters for operating system command".
Thanks,
Dinesh.Hi,
You can define external commands using transaction code SM69.
External commands are commands which would be executed at your operating
system with or without parameters.
Operating system commands are those which you execute at OS level like
mkdir, cat, rm, cp, ls
Parameters are options that you add to os commands to get more functionalities.
like, < ls -l > : will give you a long listing of files where " l " is the parameter
< ls -lt > : will give you a long listing with last changed file at top where " lt " is the parameter.
You can mention these in SM69 when you define the external commands.
Now, in order to execute these in your background job. In the steps click on "external command" and give your command name in SM36 while creating your job.
" Points for solution ".

External commands in OWB Process Flow
Hello *,
how can I embed an external command (e.g. a batch file) in an OWB process flow.
I know the User Defined Activity but I didn't succeed in embedding this.
Has someone an example for me?
Thanks and regards
Michaelhi thomas...
thanks for your reply...
I changed the parameters of runtime.properties to NATIVE_JAVA as u said...but it still not running....
I will give u a celar pic..what I am doing now..
I wrote a bat file called cmd.bat with the following commands..
d:
cd temp
copy var.dat d.txt
del var.dat
I kept the path of this file(d:\temp\cmd.bat)..in the script parameter of userdefined activity...
and the path of the cmd.exe (c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe) file in command parameter
I created a basic process flow(ch)..with start, userdefined and stop activities...
I just want to copy the data from var.dat to d.dat and delete the var.dat..
the deployment and running of this process(ch) from the control center manager is success...but the actual copying and deletion that was mentioned in my cmd.bat..is not happening...
I am using owb 10gr2....
anymore suggestions plzz..

Adobe AIR - java is not recognized as an internal or external command operable program or batch file
Hi,
I've done everything as in the HelloWorld tutorial but when i run this cmd: adt
it gives me the following error java is not recognized as an internal or external command operable program or batch file
I've installed the AIR runtime v2
Downloaded the SDK v2 and placed in D:\Www\air
Modified the path variable with D:\Www\air\bin
And then i open a new cmd console and simply write adt and gives me that error.
I've updated to the latest version of Java, but it did solve it.
But what's strage it's that the adl command work, but i'm not being able to pack my application.
I'm running Windows 7 on x64 platform.
Sincerely,
AlexI think the 32bit version will work, but it sounds like you'll need to add the Java bin folder to your system path. This is usually done by the Java installer, so I'm not sure what failed, did you run the installer located at www.java.com? Either way, this document might be able to help you out:
How do I set or change the PATH system variable
Add the Java "bin" folder to your path, you might also need to add the CLASSPATH.
Please let me know how it goes! -

How do I change the main external editor from PS CC to PS 6?
I put a trial version of PS CC on my computer and Lightroom 4 has changed the main external editor to the CC trial version. I don't want this to happen and I don't want PS6 to be an "Additional External Editor." I want the main editor to be PS6 at all times but I cannot seem to change this.
Is this possible or is the only solution to get rid of the trial version of PS CC? If I trash the trial version of PS will Lightroom 4 automatically "find" PS6 again.
ThanksThanks Gener7, but that did not work.
I also tried opening Bridge’s Preferences> File Type Associations and clicking the Reset to Default Applications button. Then see Photoshop CC 2014 listed next to all basic image formats. but did not work
Also tried this: but did not work
--Open Bridge.
--Use the Keywords panel menu command Export to save your keywords (not in the Bridge or Photoshop folders or their support folders).
--Quit Bridge.
--Hold down the Command-Option-Shift keys.
--Launch Bridge.
--When the small dialog box appears, release the three modifier keys and elect to replace the Preferences and purge the cache. -
'Telnet' is not recognized as an internal or external command
I am using Win 7 Enterprise SP1.
I have "Telnet Client" checked in the Control Panel - Programs - Turn Windows features on or off.
But, when I try to do Telnet it still says 'Telnet' is not recognized as an internal or external command.
The weird thing is this used to work on the same machine, and it just stops working today.
I unchecked "Telnet Client" , then re-check it back, and reboot my machine, but still getting the error.
On the command prompt, I tried pkgmgr /iu:"TelnetClient" , but it gave me the error "Operation failed with 0x8007000B. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format."Hi,
I agree with Balaji Kundalam.
In addition, I would like to suggest you try to activate Telnet by other ways to see if it works.

If the issue still occurs after you tried all the steps.
I understand that some files cannot be repaired when running SFC /scannow, I suggest trying the following method to troubleshoot the issue:
1. At an elevated command prompt, copy and then paste (or type) the following command, and then press ENTER:
takeown /f c:\windows\system32\telnet.exe
2. Copy and paste (or type) the following command, and then press ENTER to grant administrators full access to the file:
icacls c:\windows\system32\telnet.exe /GRANT ADMINISTRATORS:F
3. Copy and paste (or type the following command to replace the file with a known good copy of the file:
Copy c:\windows\system32\telnet.exe _Of_Source_File c:\windows\system32\telnet.exe _Of_Destination

CPC2206 by calling a external command
Hi,
we have one SAP installation which is not able to call an external command that is configured in the transaction SM69.
For example we have created an command ZWRKWTR that call the command WRKWTR.
When we try to execute the command via SM49, we retriebv only result:
(no spooled files)
Eigentumsrecht f}r Objekt JLQMHLJOBL in QTEMP Art *USRSPC geändert.
On other installations with the same kernel we have no problems to call this command.
In this forum is an other thread in this forum form 2006 with the same problem.
Volker suggested to patch the SAPXPG and the SAPCMD, but we didn't find these programs in the 7.0-kernel.
Many greetings,
StefanHi,
it is difficult to guess what could have gone wrong here. In general the function works, so something must be wrong with your specific installation. To get more information, you can set the "Trace" flag in SM69. Before you execute the command in SM49, lock a work process through transaction SE38, report RSTRC000. After the execution of the command, look into the developer trace of that work process for more information.
When the command gets executed, a new job named CALLCMD gets spawned from the work process. Use DSPLOG to find out whether this job got started. If it does not write a joblog, change the work process with CHGJOB LOG(4 00 *SECLVL) to force the output of a joblog. Maybe that one has more information.
Kind regards,
Christian Bartels. -

A better way to execute a series of external commands?
Hi,
Consider the code snippet...
Process proc1 = rt.exec("Some external command");
Vector vecOutput = outputGobbler.getOutput() ;
String[] strAlterCmds = new String[vecOutput.size()];
for ( int k = 0 ; k < vecOutput.size() ; k++ )
strAlterCmds[k] = new String();
strAlterCmds[k] = "cmd.exe /c blah.... " +(String) vecOutput.elementAt( k )+ " ;
Process proc2 = rt.exec(strAlterCmds[k], null);
StreamGobbler errorG = new
StreamGobbler( proc2.getErrorStream(), "Error") ;
StreamGobbler outputG = new
StreamGobbler( proc2.getInputStream(), "Output") ;
errorG.start() ;
outputG.start() ;
int exitVal1 = proc2.waitFor();
The second part of the execution is taking AGES and I am not sure forking a new process for runtime execution is the best alternative here.
I would be glad if someone can point me to a smarter solution.
In short: I intend to execute a series of commands using RTE depending on the values I get in the loop.
Thanks.Jared,
Thank you for responding to my posted message. Rendezvous is a new concept to me, maybe
it's the solution to my problem. I have been trying to read the on line manual and
example VIs from National Instruments website. I still have a hard time to understand
the concept.
One of the example I saw is using rendezvous to run some sub VIs. But in my case, I have
only one VI that is a while loop. Inside the while loop, there are a few tasks running
simultaneously. I don't know whether it will serve my purpose.
