10.9 Server, you do not have the necessary read.write permissions for Time Machine Service

Setting up 10.9 Server's Time Machine service when I try to backup from a computer on my LAN I get "you do not have the necessary read, write and [sic] append privileges on the selected network backup disk."
I am logging in as the admin user for the OS X Server install.
Confused.

You need to mount the sharepoint as its owner.

  • HELP!! When I open Photoshop CS3 it states "Could not initialize Photoshop because you do not have the necessary access privileges".

When I open Photoshop CS3 it states "Could not initialize Photoshop because you do not have the necessary access privileges".
Also, InDesign crashes when trying to open it.
    I am running OS X 10.6.8
The most recent task I did was a Mac OS snow leopard software update.
I created a new user account and both Photoshop and InDesign work perfectly when logged into that account, but the problem is persisting with my old account.
I tried, but didn't receive much help from Adobe.
    Any help would be appreciated!

I see. Well, if it works on a new account, then I guess that' good enough. You might still wanan try and fix your permissions on zthe otehr account, though. It may just require digging into the terminal and commandline operations to recursively apply this stuff to all folders and sub-folders...

When I open Photoshop CS3 it states "Could not initialize Photoshop because you do not have the necessary access privileges". The most recent thing I did was a Mac OS snow leopard update. Also, InDesign crashes when trying to open it. A while back I had problems with user permissions and I managed to resolve that, but I think I had to reinstall the entire Master Collection. Any help would be appreciated!

  • PSE 6, OSX 10.6.8, you do not have the necessary access privileges

Bit of an odd one this.
I have a user who periodically is unable to run Elements 6 and receives a message along the lines of "Could not initialize photoshop elements, because you do not have the necessary access privileges".
But not consistently.  Repairing permissions had no effect on this, nor did deleting the pse preference files, but recreating the user account did, temporarily resolve it. There's no correlation between whether their account is set to admin or not.
The issue seems to be quite sporadic (it was reported to me again yesterday, but works fine today) and is proving difficult to pin down, partly because PSE doesn't log the error or what causes it as far as I've been able to see.
    Any suggestions?

    Installed in main applications folder.
I'll try a reinstall as and when the issue rears up again, also possible that our antivirus (trend micro officescan) is to blame here, but I'd expect to see the same issue on some of our other machines with the same configuration.
I note a similar problem here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2496088#2496088 although with pse8 and a scratch disk error as well (not problem here).
Very odd. Anybody know if there are logs hiding somewhere I don't know about that might give more information?

  • PS CS4...an unexpected and recoverable error has occurred because you do not have the necessary privileges...then PS Exits.

    Hello,
Upon opening CS4 on my iMac I get the message an unexpected and recoverable error has occurred because you do not have the necessary privileges...then PS Exits.  I am running OS Mavericks.  If I switch to another Admin user account, the problem does not persist and I can run CS 4 with no issue.
I am pasting the text below from the error report.  Any help determining the issue would be great.  I read a ton of threads about this, but it seems each person has had a different fix result.  I have not gone the route of reinstalling OS, but will if needed.

We just tried reinstalling Mavericks and it did not fix the problem.  Tried uninstalling all Adobe CS4 and reinstalling again.  There is an error report, but this thread will not let me post it without it saying it is SPAM

It doesn't appear that the information I copied and pasted is showing up on this thread. I figured out what I should have done in the first place.

  • PSE 10 "you do not have the necessary access privileges"

I just installed Photoshop Elements 10 on my Mac which is running OS 10.7.2 (Lion) and can't open it because I get the message "You cannot initialize Photoshop Elements because you do not have the necessary access privileges". I've changed the permissions on the PSE 10 folder as well as the Contents folder inside the Adobe Elements 10 Organizer. Still a no go... Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for all your tipps.
Too bad, that didn't work for me
I tried to define the disks during startup by pressing  <Alt> + <CMD> and set the first scratch disk to my Mac HD.
But that is overwritten each I time I start it again.
I can start the Organizer but not the Editor.
Compared to a user that works I see that in
    "/Users/andreas/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Settings"
The file "Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Prefs.psp" exists with length zero.
So I do obiviously have write permission on this folder, but what else is missing?
In "/Users/andreas/Library/Preferences/Adobe" I find the folder "Elements Organizer" with subfolder 10.0
In "/Users/andreas/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop Elements 10" there's only an empty subfolder "Presets".
Permissions, however, seem also to be ok:
    imac:Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 andreas$ pwd
    /Users/andreas/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop Elements 10
    imac:Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 andreas$ ls -l
    total 0
    drwxr-xr-x  2 andreas  staff  68  8 Dez 14:54 Presets
For my working user this is highly populated.
Isn't there a way to trace or monitor where the Elements Editor fails to access a directory or file?

  • Could not open a scratch file because the file is locked or you do not have the necessary access pri

Photoshop does not start I get the error above. I uninstalled and reinstalled but the problem is still there.  It happens all the time with all files.  Please help  thanks

Yes, you have a permissions problem on your scratch disks or boot disk.
The exact location affected depends on which OS you're running.
But most likely you have some root level disk permission problems.

  • Firefox doesn't finish download, it tells me I may not have the necessary permissions to use all fo the features.

    The exact paragraph states this:
"You may not have the necessary permissions to use all of the features of the program you are about to run. You may run this program as a different user or continue to run this program as the current user." But when I try to continue with the current user, or change to a different user it does not let me.

    Та же проблема.
    Помогает:
1)Нажать правой кнопкой мыши на файле.
2)Выбрать в контекстном меню "Запустить от имени администратора"
    Solution:
1)Click right button mouse on .exe file.
    2)Switch something about"Run as administrator"

  • The item referred to by this shortcut cannot be accessed. You may not have the appropriate permissions

    Hi
I originally posted this in the Windows 7 Networking forum and they advised to post it here.
We use Windows 7 SP1 clients with Roaming Profile and Folder Redirection and they are connected to a Windows 2008 SP2 server.  We are getting issues when someone tries to open files on their redirected Desktop and they get the message "'The item
referred to by this shortcut cannot be accessed. You may not have the appropriate permissions" if you click browse it then defaults to a different users profile.  If you click through the errors the file eventually loads.  If you open Word from
the Start menu and then browse to the file it opens fine.  We have found that deleteting the Normal.DOTM file sometimes fixes the error, but only seems effective 50% of the time.  This doesn't happen for all users, and seems to occur in small
groups and not all the time.  We have also had the same message come up with someone trying to open Word files an online learning resource we have created.
There are a couple of events showing for about the time the error occured they are:

    Hi
An update.  We have approx 400 people with roaming profile/folder redirection on Windows 7/2008 and this only seems to have occurred to about 15 people, and then seems to clear up for a period and then happens again.  We also have a similar number
of people with roaming profile/folder redirection on Windows 7/2003 system and we haven't had a report of this issue happening on this setup.
So far we haven't been able to replicate the issue using a test account, so are struggling to find out what is causing it and why it is so random.

  • A form template .xsn file cannot be accessed. You may not have the required permissions to open the file

    Hi there,
When a workflow task is assigned to a user, he cannot open a particular task. and
    sees this error in browser:
A form template .xsn file cannot be accessed. You may not have the required permissions to open the file
The ULS Log for Correlation ID has these errors:
The XSN is null and its not a cross server issue. Most likely a permission issue
The XSN is null after attempting to get it from SiteAndWebCache
    Please note:
    - This user can open all other forms in the same location.
    - If I increase his permission to Site Owner, he can open this form - but we cannot allow this.
    - He was able to open it earlier - I made minor changes in the form and republished the workflow - since then he is having the trouble.
    Any help will be appreciated!
    Thanks.

    Hi ran009,
Please check if that user has contributor permission on the list that the workflow associated and have Edit item permission on related task list/item.
Also check if the workflow form or other workflow files has been checked out or not. If yes, check it in and test it again. Check Wayne Fan’s post in this thread if you have trouble to check the check-out/in status of the task form.
