10-Bit display test with 16-bit TIFF

Okay, I just got this new HP Dreamcolor Z27x and want to test it on 10-Bit with Windows 8.1 64bit and Photoshop CC 2014.
I followed that guide:
10 Bit Color Depth and Adobe Photoshop CS6 | ted lansing photography blog
to create the TIFF-File:
In Adobe Photoshop create new file
900 px wide and 300 px tall
RGB color and 16 bit
Use gradient tool to create gray scale gradient from RGB: 64/64/64 to RGB: 96/96/96
Safe file as 16 bit tif file
Wich behaves very strange!
When I create the gradiant in 16bit mode, it shows me zebra stripes, like it would be 8-bit.
I actually need to change the Color Mode from 16 to 8 bit, to see a smooth transition within the gradiant.
BUT, did I just kill the 16-Bit information with changing the mode or is it just a bug? I´m really distracted...
Please can somebody tell me, what to do?
Thanks in advance!
PS: In Premiere, the TIFF-File is shown naturally in 10-bit like it should be!

What video card are you using? Can you try using CS6? There are issues in Photoshop CC with 10-bit and AMD cards, with Adobe and AMD both blaming each other but neither seems in a hurry to resolve. See Re: PS cc and 30 bit

  • Flash Player 11 64-bit for Windows with 32-bit Debugger Keeps Crashing

    Hi,
I have been battling with this crashes since Flash Player 11 came out. I have a 64-bit Windows machine and installed Flash Player 11+ 64-bit with 32-bit debugger. Every time a run my application it crashes. Even YouTube crashes also. If I don't install the debugger everything works fine (but then I can't debug my application). I tested it in Firefox, Chrome and IE and all of them crash.
I am contented with FP 10.+ for now (until Adobe come up with a solution)  because it works for me including the debugger but I have an issue with my application that only occurs in Flash Player 11.
If anyone else knows a fix or how to get around this, please share. Thanks so much.

i have the same problem and also the uninstaller tells there is an error but no information is available.

  • Installing SAP GUI on 64-bit Windows 7 with 32-bit Office

Until about 6 months ago, 64-bit systems in my environment had 64-bit Office 2010 installed.  That caused some problems with other applications, so I made the decision that, going forward, ALL systems would have 32-bit Office 2010 installed.
Apparently, it's taken 6 months, but I finally have a need to Install SAP GUI 7.20 Patch 6 on a 64-bit Windows 7 system with 32-bit Office 2010.  It turns out, that doesn't work.
    I receive this:
Not all package prerequisits [sic] are fulfilled
Outlook Client extension for the synchronization of SAPoffice calendar with Outlook calendar... No compatible version of Microsoft Outlook found.
I am assuming that since this same installation works on my 32-bit systems, that it is upset about my architecturally-mismatched Office.
Am I correct about the source for this problem?  If so, is there anything I can do to make the GUI work in this environment?

    Hi John,
Actually, there is no mismatch in having 32-bit Office installed on 64-bit Windows.  In fact, this is probably the preferred environment.  SAPGUI in general is much happier with 32-bit Office, especially older patches (by the way, 7.20 is no longer in support -- you should upgrade to 7.30).
The errors you're receiving are most probably related to lingering 64-bit components of Office on your workstation.  We had the same situation in my office a while back, when we first started rolling out 64-bit Windows to a few users, and the PC techs mistakenly thought that meant they had to install 64-bit Office.  That caused lots of problems, since 64-bit Office is incompatible with many things, not just SAPGUI, as you found.  Correcting the error by simply reinstalling Office 32-bit resulting in workstations with some 64-bit and some 32-bit components, and that just made things worse.  Systems where 32-bit Office was installed from the beginning (on 64-bit OS) had no problems at all.
So, what you're probably going to need to do is to uninstall all Office components (including Outlook, Visio, anything like that, not just Word and Excel), and also uninstall your SAPGUI, then reinstall 32-bit Office (with Outlook) from scratch, then reinstall your SAPGUI.  This will probably clear up your problem.

  • 64 bit serial driver with 32 bit VISA causing problems?

I'm running LabView 2012 on Linux (kernel 3.10) on an x86_64 machine. I think that VISA is not playing nicely with my 64-bit serial driver. I have a few instuments connected through an NPort serial to ethernet converter. Instruments which output data constantly (unpolled) are working fine. I'm reading ASCII data from those using both minicom and LabView / VISA with no problem. Instruments which need to be polled for data are not working.
The same software and drivers are working fine on a 32-bit machine in the same lab (although I compiled the NPort serial driver for 32-bit on that machine). All I can think is that 32-bit VISA doesn't like the "bitness" of the 64 bit serial driver, and it's mashing anything I try to write to a serial port. This being the case:
    1) Can I install 64-bit VISA for Linux in conjunction with 32-bit Labview? Would that work?
    2) If I have to go for a 64-bit LabView, do I really need to downgrade my kernel to 2.x as suggested in a hidden NI compatibility document that I now can't find?
    3) Why is Linux such an after-thought with NI?

OK. Panic over. Could be down to differences in control codes that the newer version of the driver is acting on.

  • Getting 16 bit app communicating with 32 bit Labwindows app

    Hello,
I am working with a 16 bit application written in Turbo Pascal.  I want to upgrade this code so that it communicates over a USB port rather than through an interrupt driven DMA process involving a card that sits on an ISA slot.  I'm interested in using a winsocket to allow the 16 bit application to communicate with a 32 bit Labwindows app.  Does anyone have more information on this topic and/or examples of how I can do this using LabWindows/CVI?
    Thanks,
    JLahens

    Hello JLahens,
I haven't specifically done this myself, but I did a few Google
searches and found some MSDN documentation that might be helpful to you
    even though it's ODBC related.
What is "Thunking" and What Role Does it Play in CVI's 32-bit Environment, or in General?
MSDN: Using 16-bit Applications with 32-bit Drivers
Hope that helps, and if anyone else has additional info, please feel free to post.
    Thanks

  • ITunes 11.1.3.8 on Windows 8.1 64 bit display problems with CD tracks and Internet Radio

Recently installed iTunes 11.1.3.8 on a Windows 8.1 64 bit machine and I have the following problems:
    1) Inserting a CD in order to listen or import tracks I get no display of tracks when I click the CD drive in the side bar. The list has only white and gray lines where the tracks should have been listed and the top of the table contains some grabbed display from Music table (i.e. the first track that was displayed in Music but only 2/3 of the line. The status bar at the bottom of the iTunes window shows correct information about the number of tracks and total playing time.
    2) Hitting the play button while on this CD Drive listing starts the playback but the tracks play in random sequence even though shuffle play is not selected (not blue to be precise). In the zone with track name, playback progress, elapsed and remaining time and other track options the indications are correct.
    3) Importing the CD works but the tracks are imported in random order. Track information from CDDB providers is accurate eventhough nothing is displayed while selecting CD drive as per problem 1). Imported tracks in Music show in random order. This is also strange because when I was importing something from a CDDB indexed CD or even a non indexed one the tracks were always imported in the order they were written on disc.
    4) Going to Music -> Internet I get the same white and gray lines with no stations displayed but this time the status bar reads Zero Stations. Obviously I can't select/listen anything
I'd say I'm quite experienced with iTunes, using it since 2005 but never had problems of this type. Some assistance would be helpful. I smell a bug that maybe shows up in my particular configuration. Searched everywhere, maybe not good enough, but couldn't find something even similar.

i have the same problem no radio stations at all bit shabby hate technolgy now adays

  • Displaying video with 16 Bit imagedata

    Hi there.
In the the past weeks, i learned a lot about JMF.
I managed to create a player/processor pair to display a serie of 8BIT RGB formatted imagedata.
I adapted the JPEGtoVideo sample from sun for this.
My next step is to do the same for 16bit images.
Since most displays can't display 16 bit colours at a time, i want to convert them to 8 bit using the IndexedColorFormat.
But no matter what I'm trying, i cant get it working.
Each time it's not possible to create a processor for IRGB data.
Maybe someone can give me a hint to find a suitable solution for my problem.
    Thanks

I find FCP's export queue very handy for converting large batches of audio. You can also use iTunes, but you have to switch your iTunes prefs around, and move the files out of your iTunes library after they are done.
    Hope this helps -

  • Trying to use ODAC on 64 bit Windows 7 with 64 bit Oracle 11g?

I have been trying to connect to Oracle 11g with VS 2010 .NET Framework 4.0 on Windows 7 for about 5 days with no luck.
Background: VS 2010, .Net Framework 4.0 and Oracle 11g 64 bit are running on the same maching.
I have found that are two versions of the 64 bit ODAC.
    1) The XCopy bersion and 2) the Oracle Universal Installer version.
To install the XCopy version, I right click on the cmd window, change to the folder where my xCopy install is and type install.bat all d:\oracle\myoraclehome odac just like the documentation says. The files are created in my Oracle home and there are registry keys under HKLM\Software\Oracle like the documentation says. I don't have a clue how to prove weather it's doing anything usefule though. When I go to VS 2010, I don't have System.Data.Oracleclient of Oracle.DataAccess.client or any other namespace that can talk to Oracle. How would I test the XCopy version and see if it is actually able to do anything?
I like the Windows Installer version much better and set it up just like the readme.txt said to. I used the Oracle Data Access Components for Oracle Client 11.2.0.2.1. I wound up with two oracle homes, one for my server and one for the ODAC install. I copied tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora over to the odac client home's Network\Admin folder. From my server's oracle home, I ran sqlplus and was able to successfully login to the server. I liked the fact that it came with sample code and I saw that the Oracle.DataAcces.client dll was added as a project reference. I ran the samples with my userid and password and got a TNS Adapter error.
Since the Oracle server is on the same server that everything else is on, I ASS-U-ME that I would want to install the Oracle Data although I didn't see it documented anywhere. I tried creating it in a different directory, but it says it must be installed on top of an existing oracle home. I tried creating it in my oracle home and got err message OUI-10044 - The selected oracle home location already contains an oracle home or APPL_TOP created while running a different OS.
Can someone tell me how to correctly install either one of these and test it to make sure it is working?
TIA I know someone on planet Earth must be using the 64-bit odac to connect to Oracle,
    George

    George,
It sounds like I have the same setup as you and I am no expert on Oracle install issues but VS 2010 is 32bit. You need to install the 32 bit version of ODAC to make VS all happy. I was under the impression ther was no 64 bit version of ODAC? Then again I am no expert on the topic.
I then installed the 64 bit xcopy version, decided upon the location for tnsname and then defined TNS_ADMIN. All works well. I create most of my exe's as AnyCPU and Windoze/Oracle seems to figure out what to do.

  • V490 pci slot (64 bit) backwards compatible with 32 bit card?

As the subject states I have a pair of SunFire V490's that I need to put 32 bit fiber NIC's in. (Reason for 32 bit cards is that it is a one way solution and the company has not updated their tech www.owlcti.com )
It is my understanding that 64/32 bit cards/slots are usually interchangeable they just run at 32. Any help on the matter is greatly appreciated.

    Hi George,
    Thank you for responding.
Is the hot-plug issue just with all of your PCI cards or just some? I have two NI PCI-6514 cards in hot-plug slots that show up in the NI Measurement & Automation Explorer. Unfortunately, I have yet to test the I/O functions of the cards.

  • Installing to 64-bit Mac Mini with 32-bit EFI

    It's the Macmini 2,1/A1176 (http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/m … specs.html).
Is this possible? Installs fine from an ArchBang live CD built without UEFI, just can't get it to boot. I only get the blinking question-mark-folder icon. I've tried:
    - rEFInd with 32 and 64-bit binaries (copied to /boot/efi/boot.efi)
    - gummiboot installed normally via the guide
    - GRUB2 using both i386 and x64 targets
I know there's got to be something special I'm missing, right?

Sorry for the confusion. I was booting to the ArchBang live CD in attempts to get my installed Arch system (201505) booting properly -- just a little easier since I can use Firefox to read some documentation.
Anyway, I'm totally stuck at getting the bootloader working. The UEFI wiki article clearly states that the bitness of the EFI and system must match to get UEFI variable support, and to presumably "bless" the proper EFI binary. So I can't use UEFI to boot, that's fine, the Arch install disc booted in BIOS mode anyway. I've tried both MBR and GPT partitioning, both just result in the blinking folder.

  • 32 bit Planning compatability with 64 bit Essbase

    Hi,
We are running version 11.1.1.3.01 of Planning, and Essbase 11.1.1.3 on two Windows 2003 R2 Sp2 servers. Planning/Worspace/etc on one server and Essbase by itself on the other. We want to add a new planning server and a new essbase server.
Will 32bit planning work with 64bit essbase if we want to go that route? Any downside to using 64 bit essbase with planning?
Also can multiple Planning Application servers exist in a single Worspace instance. In other words do I need to install workspace along side of planning on the new planning server? Can I get the existing Workspace installation to recognize the new planning server? What is the best practice? Hope that makes sense.
    Thanks for any responses,
    Keith

Best practice for multiple Planning servers is a load balancer (Force5 BigIP/Citrix NetScaler/Cisco/Microsoft NLB). Most larger companies have BigIP's or Netscalers.
The VIP should be set with sticky sessions based on source IP and you would register your environment with the VIP.

  • Is there a way to install the 32 bit version of python with 64 bit one

    Hello all,
I have recently purchased a Tux Droid and I'm trying to get it installed on my Arch64 system.  The problem is the software for it depends on the 32 bit python for TTS and a lot of other libs.  Is it just possible to install the 32 bit version along with 64 bit version?

Do you mean schroot?  If so I'm not sure exactly how well that will work out, because the part that depends on python is a deamon that handles communication between the USB dongle and the Tux Droid which may mean hacking the deamon a bit so ether way this does not seem like it will be a easy task.

  • Imaq WindDraw auto changing display with 10 bit camera

I am using a 10 bit camera. My understanding is that LabView is displaying the most significant 8 bits. Does Imaq WindDraw ALWAYS display the 8 most significant bits? Or in the case of very low level signals will Imaq WindDraw shift and display lower significant bits?
My 10 bit camera when focused in very tight seems to capture an occasional frame that appears to be just noise, no real image. This does not happen at higher signal levels.
Can that feature be turned off. Thanks for any help.

The 10 bit image is stored as a 16 bit image, which IMAQ converts to 8 bits for display. The conversion method is controlled by the function IMAQ WindDisplayMapping, found in the Display palette.
The default method is Full Dynamic, which converts the full range of the 16 bit image to an 8 bit image. The largest value in the 16 bit image is mapped to 255, and the smallest is mapped to 0.
You can select Downshift to force a fixed conversion. Read the help to get more details about how to use it. For a 10 bit image, you should downshift 2 bits to retain the most significant bits.
I'm not sure about the occasional noisy image issue, unless it is a side effect of the dynamic mapping. Try Downshift mapping and see if the problem goes away.

  • Working with 32 bit color HDRs in Lightroom

The feature of being able to work with 32 bit color Tiff files in Lightroom is awesome and wonderful.  However, I note that when I do not follow the recommended workflow of bringing the 32 bit file directly back into Lightroom to work on it - working on it with Adobe Camera Raw in Photoshop first - the results are somewhat confusing. I'm fine with following the recommended workflow except for the fact that I seem to be able to come up with even better results quite quickly using ACR.  ACR appears to give me a greater tonal range to work with, but when I save the file as a Tiff and take it back to Lightroom the colors aren't displayed correctly by Lightroom.  There is a huge difference between viewing the file in Photoshop and viewing it in LR. If I work on the file immediately in LR, avoiding doing anything in PS, the files look identical in both programs, but at the apparent cost of losing a lot of exposure range to play with.  Am I correct in inferring that LR is working on the 32 bit colors using a 16 bit color depth conversion in the tools?
