10 days training period after line reset

Hi,
So on Monday morning the engineer finally turned up and did line reset which in results I was getting my full speed (47.5/9). And very low pings 16ms to bbc.co.uk, abou 6ms on 1st hop but this morning hh5b decided to restart in results my ping went up by 12ms, now 28ms to bbc.co.uk and it decreased my speed by 3mb. Can anyone explain me how 10 days of training period works? I thought the router must stay stable for more than 10 days. Is it still training my line after router drop?
I suspect interleaving turned on on my line but why after only 2 days instead of 10 training days?
I have been told by engineer that I am very far away from the cabinet around 800m and that the line is working in 100% just after line reset and it wont stay like that.
Best regards

Tonight I have noticed that I can't open any website (it takes about 3 minutes to open any website) and I am having a high packet loss on teamspeak3. The Noise Margin dropped from stable 6.0 to 4.5-5.0. It forces me to reboot my router but I don't want to, because my speed will drop and ping will go up occasionally. What can I do in that situation?

  • Slow speed after line repair

Hi, we had trouble with our phone /BB and vision which were down for about ten days. fault was found to be the line between pole and the main socket into the house, The; B.T engineer replaced the line and socket; which sorted out the phone, but internet was still down. BB was showing as connected, but would not connect to internet and no BT vision service. Phoned BT and Indian lady guided me through different settings and after about half an hour we managed to get the hub to connect to the internet. The speed is very slow now and this is affecting our BT vision as well. I realise that it can take up to ten days for the line to reset to its best setting. can anybody help with the info obtained from our HH1.5 which is wired by ethernet cable to the computer with nothing else connected or running at time of speed test. you have now been upgraded to 21CN adsl2+.  Your noise margin is very high but there is a 10 day training period after an upgrade so just leave it connected with no manual resets.
21CN is more aggressive if you have any noise on your line and what was a good connection with adslmax may not initially be a good connection with 21CN.  However if you have a noise problem after training come back and someone will provide assistance

  • BT Infinity | 10 Day Settling/Line Training Period...

    Hi all,
I've had Infinity installed for about a week now, initially enjoying great speeds of 37mbps downstream and 7mbps upstream. I was affected like everyone else by the FTTC line issues over the weekend which were resolved yesterday afternoon (around 3pm for my exchange). Last night I was back at 37/7 until I went to sleep at around 1am.
Today I woke to what I assumed was the same FTTC issue again, speeds of 2/7, but having read a little about the 10 day settling period or "line training" I am wondering, during this period is it normal to have such low speeds as 2mbps downstream? Also, why doesn't the training affect my upstream?
Any information would be greatly appreciated. I'm also not so clear on the effect that rebooting my equipment (modem specifically) might have on the settling process?
    Cheers

I had an issue where the line from the cab was bad and this resulted in part of the line being replaced. However once the line was repaired the BB infinity speed did not increase back up to the 40mb it was at before. The engineer checked the speed at the cab and that had been throttled down to 26mb. The engineer then had to get somone at BT to go in and reset my profile. The speed is now up to 33 and I hope will increase back to its old speed. So if you have had lots of errors on your line power cycling might not be an effective method of getting your speed back and like me BT will have to reset your profile for you.

  • What should be happening in the 10 day training pe...

Now on day 5 of the 10 day training period, nothing has happened with the connection since day 2, when it dropped from ~5.5 mb to 2.5 mb.
I was told I would get a connection speed between 7.5 mb and 17.5 mb (which reflects what other people in my block get).
I am not aware of the connection being lost at any time in the training period (the only restarts have been from manually resetting the home hub) and the current uptime is about 48 hours.
Am I really to expect the connection to improve by another 5 mb in the next five days?
I have no idea how the connection is running, due to having HH4 and no access to statistics.

    Thanks

  • Low speed after 10 day stabilisation period

    Hi all,
I had my BB activated on the 1st Nov & was syncing at 17.000kbps, Next day we were only getting 4.543kbps.
Not knowing what was happening i rang BT. The chap on the phone told me about the 10 day stabilisation period, So i thought ok fair doo's and left it at that.
So the 11th of Nov comes and i go to check the router stats...
     ADSL Link                 Downstream          Upstream
Connection Speed      4543 kbps     1211 kbps
Line Attenuation        20.5 db            12.2 db
Noise Margin              30.1 db             6.2 db
These stats have been the same as from the 2nd of November till now the 12th.
Sooooo i rings up BT again and askes if they could manually configure my line as im thinking the 10 day stabilisation period is up and that ip profile must of got stuck or something.
But this chap is telling me he can not manually configure the line i've got to wait another 10 days?
Is this the norm for BT? As before i switched to BT i was with Sky & could not remember 20 days stabilisation period.
Was i just beeing fobbed off or do i really have to wait another 10 days? The chap on the phone was pritty sure he could not do anything till the 20th if my speed had not changed.
Begining to wish i stayed with Sky now

Hi, i've no problems with disconnections but i have manualy power cycled the router a few times and we have a token electric meter which tends to go off every 2-3 days which cant be helped
The electric went today around 8 or 9am this morning, im guessing this is no good for my line all these power cycles

  • Is it possible to automatically add hyphen after period on line break?

I have words that contain periods e.g. "text1.text2". If the line breaks after period, there isn't hyphen. How can I automatically add hyphen after period on line break? I have tried to hyphenate the word in user dictionary and used discretionary hyphen but neither of them works.

I don't believe there's a way to do this, but perhaps someone else has some thoughts. Best I can come up with is to make the . non-breaking and force the line to hyphenate in the first word.

  • BB Line Reset Question

Hi - had issues with BB speed - ip profile was set to only 0.25mbps.  BT did a line reset on Monday lunchtime.  IP profile is still set ot 0.25mbps.  Contacted BT who said it would take 10 days for the line to stabilise and spped will vary in that time.
Surely the IP Porfile should have been increased as part of the reset or will it automatically increase during the stabilisation period ?  Normal speeds are 2-3mbps.

  • Request a Line reset?

I upgraded to Infinity about 6 months ago.  The line speed never increased from what we'd had originally - we went from 5mb ADSL to ... 5mb Infinity.
I meant to complain and try and get it sorted but you all know that process and I just didn't have the time or the patience.
Anyway, so... two days ago we had a phone fault. Engineer comes out, finds the issue out in the woods and fixes it, no problem.  However when he's testing our line before he goes, he sees our old data cable (from the wall to the router) and says it's not good enough. He says it's probably giving router issues and throttling our bandwidth.
I bought a new twisted pair data cable and whoomph, we jumped to 6mb just like that, and the ping has doubled in speed - browsing is lightning fast now.
But we are still WAY off what the Availability Checker said we'd achieve, and way off what the engineer said he *thinks* we should be getting based on his tests... He said MAXIMUM possible would be about 25mb, which in his experience suggested we should be looking at 15 - 18mb.  He also said we may need a line reset before we see any real speed improvement (after replacing the cable).
6mb is great an all, and I'm not one to look a gift-horse in the mouth, but when I upgraded I was promised 12-18mb, and we're still way off that.
So, all that said and done... Should I ask for a Line Reset from BT, or will the speed likely increase automatically over the next few days?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

your connection will recover but it could take a few weeks.
resetting you connection at present can only be done following an engineer visit so surprised engineer did not organise that before he left

Will my speed improve over the training period? Should I re-boot the router (I haven't done so with the switch from ADSL switch to VDSL)?

there isn't a training period on Fibre connections.
When your line has been first provisioned, you may notice that your band is set to the ‘open profile’ which is likely to be either; 0.128M-40M or 0.128M-80M on the downstream and either 0.128M-20M or 0.128M-10M (depending on whether you’re on an up to 38Mbps or 76Mbps product). your line will be left on an open profile for 2 days initially to allow the line to adjust following the installation.
If DLM ever needs to act on your line, you’ll never be set to that open profile again, the highest profile you can be assigned would be 40M-80M (sync rate dependant). There are three levels of Interleaving – off, low and high, If Interleaving is applied on low your latency will be increased by around 8ms and 16ms on high.

    Yes, up to 10 days.

Few days ago I had troubles with my phone and I couldn't start it anymore. After hard-reseting it, it worked again.
Unfortunately all software is gone now.
When I start the Adobe Reader mobile it says "10 days trial" version. Do I have to pay again?
    Thanks for your answer

    Hey
no you don't have to pay again absolutely, just download it again and insert the code received by mail
    Good luck
