10 hour download OS 10.8.2/Web Confidential 3.8 not recognized

FYI: It took approximately 10 hours to download OS 10.8.2 with the above speed using wired ethernet connection, but the OS downloaded and installed without any hitches at all! Add an additional 32 minutes for the install after the download. The only negative is that Safari/Chrome/Firefox are running super slow on my Mac Book Pro 2.66 i7, in fact slower than on the old G4.

One thing I might add,OS 10.8.2 does not recognize Web Confidential 3.8 and so will not open the program. I wish I'd known this before installing the new OS, because I would have made a backup text file of my passwords (the last backup was a month ago). Instead, I had to transfer the Web Confidential application to an older G4 to open the passwords.wce file, then convert the .wce to a text file that could be recognized by 1Password back on the Mac Book Pro. Just a little more footwork. Complicating matters was that we had a power outage and apparently the new surge protector did not protect either of my two G4s. Neither would start. Using this archived apple support page, I was able to reset one of the G4s successfully:

I would have stayed with Web Confidential (the upgrade to WC 4.0 is a lot less expensive than 1Password) but at this point my husband already purchased a family license for the latter. The only other issue with WC 3.8 was that it did not sync with the iPhones and I do not think that the newest version 4.0 syncs. I really loved the simplicity of Web Confidential. My only question now would be how to speed up Safari's 6.0.1 performance in 10.8.2 or do I just accept that it's a little slower than it was, which is fine. Are other folks having this issue?
I was primarily passing along info about my particular download speed and for the Web Confidential 3.8 people: make a backup of your passwords b4 installing 10.8.2 or be prepared to upgrade.

I got it working. I uninstalled both iTunes and apple mobile device support and then downloaded iTunes again. That took care of the problem.

If you're planning to use your CS5 Windows serial number to license CS5 on your Mac then it won't work.
Creative Suite serial numbers are licensed per operating system. So Windows serial numbers will not work on Macs and vice versa.
Platform swaps are available (to swap Win to Mac or vice versa) but it only applies to CS6.
Order product | Platform, language swap
You'll either have to upgrade to CS6 for Mac (known as a crossgrade) or join the Cloud.
Or run virtualisation software such as Bootcamp or Parallels on the Mac and install the Windows version in a Windows environment on the Mac.

Good, thank you in advance for help. My Iphone 5 agency was left red battery and asked me a software update from settings, the update could not begin, I think, because there was no connection. With iTunes open connect iPhone to the PC. In the Top Menu of iTunes at the end select Help, scroll down to near bottom, select "Run Diagnositics..." Perform all the simple tests and follow the help.

In Firefox 10, I am no longer able to download the pdf of the paper; the download pull-down menu in web app "Olive ActivePaper Daily 4.0" no longer "works" in Firefox 10 on Win XP or Win 7. This was not a problem in Firefox 9 and earlier. The pull-down menu continues to "work" in IE8. A valid username & password is required to do the download. The ''only ''change made to my Windows XP system was the upgrade from Firefox 9 to Firefox 10.

Download a file from the web

Helo,
I have to download a file from the web and copy it to the file system (ex: download from http://172.26.20.22/test.csv to \\server01\teste.csv).
I must do this using only pl/sql and java sources, I have to do this calling a procedure from pl/sql and the server doesn't have any component installed.
I've built a java procedure using java to download the file, but it give-me AccessControlException when trying to download.
Can anyone tel me what permissions I should have to accomplish this? Is there any other easier way?

It sounds to me like your Internal Hard Drive is failing.
I recommend you buy a new one, that is a good candidate for replacing the old one, but install it in an External enclosure and Install a fresh Mac OS X on it from the DVD. You can boot your Mac from any attached drive.
The new System can be used to get some work done, check your emails, and takes the pressure off resolving this immediately. You can also attempt to salvage files off the old drive if needed.
Once things seem to be working, then move the new drive inside the computer. Failures at this point may be due to bad cable, which has been a problem in some of these MacBooks.
Use security erase, write Zeroes, one pass, to re-write every block on the old drive. Any block discovered to be bad will be replaced with spares the drive holds in reserve for this purpose. If more than 10 blocks are pared on one pass, "Initialization Failed!" will be the result. Although you can try the erase again, there is some question whether you want to trust this drive with your precious data.
