100% disk Activity

https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=839C8B756498A91A!249&authkey=!AITa4iG_A7PSKII&ithint=file%2c.etl
I have erased my drive and put a clean installation of Windows 8.1 on it twice. Both times my disk usage spikes to 100% every time I start a new program. I have attempted a few solutions such as disabling superfetch, windows search, and pagefile.sys, all
to no avail. I have attached a link to an .etl that should show that my system and local services processes are the major hogs though Chrome can hog activity as well. And hopefully it notes how even though the activity is at 100% the actual throughput rarely
exceeds 0.1 MBps. I have run as many windows updates as I can and all my drivers seem to be up to date. chdisk found no errors on the drive. I hope someone here can tell me what I can do to improve my systems performance. I will eventually rest below 5%, but
always peaks whenever I attempt anything from web browsing to media playback to bringing up Task Manager.

WLR
If you compare the 6 biggest Chrome processes they correlate exactly with the 100% HD thrashing.  At the same time the Chrome processes cpu usage drop to under 10%.  Almost seems like Chrome is writing to cache.  I have no idea if it does
or what the reason is but the correlation is to close to be co-incidence
First snip Chrome is using 197million, while the rest of the system is using 114 million
Snip 2 HD by process shows Chrome and not system.

  • E530 100% disk activity

My new E530 often runs so slowly, it's a joke. When this happens, I see the disk activity is at 100% for long periods of time, sometimes for hours, even when I'm not using the machine, or only doing light internet browsing and using MS Office.
During those periods, CPU is running at about 10% and memory at about 55%.
I do not use my computer for gaming or any intensive applications.
How can I stop the disk activity running at 100%?

    Hi Adeleg,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that you are facing the issue with System slow performance on ThinkPad E530.
    1. Verify whether the problem occurs intermittently or frequently
    2. Verify whether the problem occurs at some certain occasions or under some conditions. Figure out specific slow environments; check is it slowing during startup, slow during playing game, slow during surfing internet.
    3. Make sure that the current configuration meets the recommended configuration of the current OS. Remove all external devices and restore factory default hardware configurations by uninstalling all non-bundled devices.
    4. Check LSC -Performance and Configuration History - Critical Events (for faulting applications); For machine running Windows 7 / Vista without using LSC, use Windows Realiability monitor to check (command line to run: perfmon /rel).
    5. Check if the system is getting more heating while in use.
    6. Run complete anti-virus scan.
    7. Run HDD and Memory diagnostics.
    8. If problem persists, advise to restore preload operating system.
Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!
    Best regards,
    Hemanth Kumar

my server has only run on low workload, but get 100% active time, how can i determine which program cause it , thanks,
    server 2012R2, latest update

    Hi SpaceTime_L,
The IO performance issue can caused by many reasons, generally we can first run CHKDSK to check whether have bad sectors. Other information from your figure it show the response
time is very high this is also a serious I/O bottleneck, please first check whether have misaligned disk partitions, it also is the common issue can cause unnecessary disk I/O at the hardware level for disks.

  • Windows 8.1 100% Disk Usage Problem

I am running a Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5110. 12 GB Ram, 456 GB HD with 311 GB free, CPU Max speed 2.7 GH. My computer, as many other
W8 and W8.1 users seem to suffer, is nearly constantly at 100% disk usage (apparently
I have seen many claims as to what causes this; some even say it involves a bad HD. However, I do not think my HD is bad because
    1. My HD was fine before I got 8.1, to the best of my knowledge ( was on 8 prior to 8.1)
    2. Most importantly, when my computer isn't in the 100% phases, it seems to work absolutely fine!
I would like help in figuring out what to do about this problem, as well as why it occurs and why it works the way it does (i.e. seemingly just going away for long periods of time).
It is extremely difficult to work when my computer is being very slow, and not knowing when it will happen or what makes it stop happening is frustrating.
I will provide below a list of measures I have taken, edited to include new things tried.
    1. Adding RAM
    2. Increasing pagefile
    3. Running programs to clean up clutter, fix registry problems, free up memory, etc (specifically, Iolo System Mechanic)
    4. Disabling the Windows Search Indexing service
    5. Checking for updates
    6. Running Microsoft Security Scanner (it found nothing)
    7. Disabling Live Tiles (of which I only had one in the first place!)
    8. One person claimed that their problem went away when they ran Skype, of all things. I tried this, though it did not do the trick.
    9. Booting in Safe Mode.
    10. Clean Boot.
    11. My drive is 0% fragmented.
    12. Trying to repair the Windows Image does nothing, as it comes up as being healthy when scanned.
    13. sfc /scannow did not fix the problem either.
    14. Running Microsoft's performance scanner and uploading the .etl file got me a reply blaming Chrome, which is impossible because
the problem occurs with no programs running. I will try another recording and put it up; the link will be edited in.
    https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=DD4BA6A3F312AE94!945&authkey=!APrxfxQeNw14igc&ithint=file%2c.etl

Having the exact same problem on a computer after the Windows update installed from 8.0 to 8.1.
Even after reloading the computer  from scratch.
The drive activity goes WAY up when booting  - to 100%.  It then seems to calm down but randomly will go up and down throughout the day peaking at 100%. Even when nothing is open except a MSWord page into which  I am typing.
If other programs are open such as Excel and/or Internet Explorer they will display the file name at the top as usual with (Not Responding) at the end. The screen will fade to an opaque look. This lasts for up to approx. 15 minutes at times and the computer
responds to no keyboard or mouse clicks. The mouse pointer on the screen still moves but nothing happens when I click on anything.
I managed to keep the Task Manager visible and it clearly shows less than 20% memory use and less than 5% CPU use when this occurs. But the HDD is at 100%.
The fact that it was fine prior to updating to 8.1 indicates an issue with 8.1 to me. Absolutely nothing else has changed on this machine - aside from Windows Update.
This is a know fault and I hate W8.1. Once it finishes whatever it is doing then there are a bunch of screen flashes as it catches up to what ever and where ever I had clicked with the mouse while it was frozen. It is like it is catching up because W8.1
is causing the HDD to ???????????
Another issue I encounter is the stupid Automatic Maintenance that cannot be disabled. I have found nothing to accomplish this that actually works no matter what anyone has posted on MS sites. It last rendered my computer today useless for approx. +1
hour today!!! I had been using the computer and it was never idle for more than 1 or 2 minutes but yet it started. It is set to run at 1:00 am but it was only approx. 5:00 pm.!!
The Automatic Maintenance is not running however, when the computer freezes and uses 100% HDD as indicated by Task Manager.
Also I can disconnect the computer from the modem or power off the modem and the HDD remains at 100%! So it is not sending nor receiving anything at that time.

  • Ntoskrnl.exe 100% disk usage windows 8.0 and 8.1

This is a bug report. I hope Microsoft will take it seriously as it took me a whole day and much stress to track it down. Basically my problem was the same as this: http://slopjong.de/2013/04/23/extremely-high-disk-activity-with-windows-8-and-how-to-fix-it/
However in the graphic on this site it appears to show that Virtualbox is the culprit. However this is unlikely to be the case, as the author of the site fixed his problem by following his own advice. This is an extremely common problem as this Google search
    indicates:
    https://www.google.co.uk/#q=ntoskrnl.exe+100+disk+usage+windows+8
To attempt to address my own problem first I disabled all non-microsoft services in Windows 8.1 professional. When this had no effect on the problem, I then disabled all non-essential Microsoft services. In turn. when this has no effect I disabled all user
installed start-up items. Again when this failed to have an impact, I changed my browser from Firefox to Google Chrome, as I noted that the extremely high disk utilisation was at it's worst when using Firefox. This also had no effect.
I then tried a variation of my search on Google "ntoskrnl.exe 100 disk usage windows 8" (I can't remember the exact variation) and stumbled over the above site at the beginning of this message. I had by that point tried everything that was in my power
to try. But I noted from this article that the author recommended changing the power plan from 'balanced', to 'high performance'. Since I had   exhausted every other avenue, I decided to try this and like magic, instantly it worked. So there is clearly
a bug in Windows 8.1 (and 8 prior to this) that causes 100% disk utilisation. I thought someone at MS might like to know about it and come up with a way to fix it.
Below is my system configuration. Please note this system configuration may contain a number of errors, as it was generated with several non-essential Microsoft services disabled. I do not believe these issues need to be addressed. However the issue of 100%
disk utilisation when using a 'balanced' power plan on Windows 8.1 (and 8.0) almost certainly does.
    PS
This message board system will not allow me to post my full system configuration. MS need a better bug reporting system! Apple allow the public to submit bug reports, so why not Microsoft too. The public can find useful bugs!

    Hi,
    Thanks for your detailed description.
We considered that the culprit for every computer is different. For the specific PC, we need to analyze the specific issue.
Please trace the performance using the Windows performance toolkit.

  • Constant CPU and Disk Activity

I just upgraded my MBP from Tiger to Leopard, and also upgraded from trial to full .Mac account, so I now have an iDisk for the first time.
I have iStat Menus installed and where, before the upgrades, the CPU graph showed a very low level of activity (almost zero) when the computer was idle, it now looks like a picket fence, with spikes reaching almost to the top of the graph. The disk activity graph exactly matches the CPU graph with regular spikes, which occur about very 7-8 seconds.
I opened Activity Monitor, and the highest usage switches between 'Sync Server' (with a value of anything from 2 to 9) and 'kernel-task' (with a value of around 2.5). Something called 'mds' sometimes pops up to the top (with values of 2-3). It appears the culprit is 'Sync Server'. I've tried iDisk sync set to 'Manually', and also with it turned off altogether, but it makes no difference.
Does anyone know what's going on here and, more importantly, how to get my MBP to relax again.
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve = : ^ )

I'm resurrecting this question because the problem still exists. Restarting the computer always stops the spikes but they always start up again at some point (I'm yet to pinpoint a cause) and, once happening, I can quit all running apps (except Finder) and they persist, and they seem to occur about 10 secs. apart.
The spikes occur in both cores but, if one core has a big spike (close to 100%) the other's is small and vice versa. Or they both have moderate spikes. It seems the total usage is about the same for every spike, though spread differently between the two cores.
And the HD still shows activity at the same rate as the spikes.
Any ideas what I should look for?
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve = : ^ )

DRS stuck in CCMDB backup if many CDR files in Preserved folder
    Symptom:
Callmanager 5.1.3 is able to backup the components to SFTP server successfully earlier, but as with the system running and the CDR records starting to build up, the backup start to fail at some stage.
    Condition:
huge set of CDR/CMR files may accumulate in Preserve folders (e.g 110,000) caused a big backup.log file exceeded 1 MB(e.g 20MB)
    Typical Scneario:
Customer does not want to use CAR but using third party billing server instead and CAR loader is disabled, in callmanager 5.1.3, this can result in large number of CDR/CMR accumulated in Preserve folder.
    Workaround:
    In 5.1.3 and later
Stopping CAR service will not stop accumulating flat CDR Files.
To clean up the CDR files temporarily to that DRS can proceed,
    1. stop the CDR Agent service on all servers in the cluster, so no new CDR files will be pushed to the publisher.
    2. check to make sure all the files have been pushed to the billing server(s), do the following command
    ls -R /var/log/active/cm/cdr_repository/destination*
to make sure there is no symbolic link in any of the subfolders
    3. Stop CDR Repository Manager, CAR Scheduler and CAR Web Service on the publisher
    4. remove all the files under /var/log/active/cm/cdr_repository/preserve/ that have been accumulated. And remove all the symbolic links under /var/log/active/cm/cdr_repository/car/ with the following commands,
    rm -rf /var/log/active/cm/cdr_repository/preserve/*
    rm -rf /var/log/active/cm/cdr_repository/car/*
    5. restart CDR Repository Manager, CAR Scheduler, CAR Web Services on the publisher.
To stop further accumulation of CDR files, start CAR Scheduler service, set the loader to schedule to continuously loading, load CDR only.
    1. create a ccmadmin account if not yet in user group management on ccmadmin page
    2. log in to CAR, go to System->Scheduler->CDR Load,
    3. check "Continuous Loading 24/7" and "Load CDR only" boxes
    4. click "update"
    5. goto System->Database->Configure Automatic Database Purge,
    6. set both "Min Age of Call Detail Records" and "Max Age of Call Detail Records' to 1
    7. click "update"
    8. go to Report Config->Automatic Generation/Alert
    9. For each report, select "Disabled" status and click "Update"
Finally, restart CDR Agent service on all the servers.
    workaround for DRS :
    1. Restart DRS Master Agent and Local Agent.
    2. Delete the backup.log from location /common/drf

  • Slow performance disk activity

My mac has slowed to almost a stop.
I hear lots of disk activity and when reviewing activity monitor I see lots of disk activity.
About 100 reads and writes a second
Any ideas of how to find out what is happening?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the slowdown.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
    Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • 100% highest active time for HDD

I have the 100% highest active time issue....
This seems to be a well known problem, however no solution is found for it yet. I have done pretty much everything imaginable from scans to system tuneups and configurations.
I reinstalled the OS (several times with different versions like pro, ultimate, enterprize ), switched to win 8... got the latest Bios update, got the latest drivers from HP then downloaded them from intel website, I even got the driver for the disk from the manufacturers website, changed the AHCI mode to RAID (- which also enables AHCI btw)... nothing works.
The completely fresh install of any OS with only the drivers installed runs the HDD on 85-100% in idle.
I have some experience in this and from what I saw till now, the Highest active time varies normaly between 10-25% (more or less) even if your disk is performing some more demanding stuff.
Till recently I thaught that my HDD is to blame, but its not...other guys also face the same issue after replacing it.
(The disk and memories installed also pass all diagnosticks and checks without problem)
With i5 540m - 2.53 ghz, 8gb memory and the overall performance of the system is unbelivable LOW.
I have issues browsing the web, not mentioning other stuff.
Please, whoever reads this post and decides to advise with some solution like disabling search indexing for windows, or sfc scan or drive diagnosticks or pagefile size changes/ disabling, editing the startup services/apps, defrag/cleanup and so on and so on... You can spear that time for you cause the list of the things Ive done to solve this issue is allready too long to fit it in this post.
Recently I ordered an original instalation kit from HP which should arrive soon but at this point I think that the issue can only be solved by replacing the laptop.
*I have no idea what the kit contains, but this is the only thing I havent try yet.
    Can this be Kernel related?
Does anybody have any ideas or permanent fix for this???

  • FF 18.0.1 constant disk activity after 1 minute with no tabs open

FF 18.0.1 on Windows XP SP3.
Within 1 minute of starting FF I observe constant and excessive disk activity.
I am unable to use any other applications due to the response time.
I have closed all tabs and disabled all plugins.
I have just started a FF "reset to factory default", but pop-up window for "Please wait while Firefox cleans up your old data" has been running for 15 minutes.
    Any ideas?

It sounds like you've got some other problems on your computer as well.
Restart your PC, then try the steps at http://www.microsoft.com/atwork/maintenance/speed.aspx#fbid=6pXkdz7T_94 to try to clean your computer up.
After that, Try to reset Firefox again.

  • Ntoskrnl.exe System %100 disk usage with windows 8.1. all the time!.

hello i am also having the %100 disk usage problem and am starting a thread to upload my etl. file and see if i can get a solution. thnx. i should also mention i have tried every suggestion i have read on the internet even ones that worked for other people
did not work for me i.e. (switching to high performance power plan, disabling cd drive, etc.) no matter what i try "system" is always utilizing 90%-100% of my hard drive and it is driving me crazy.
i can barely do anything on computer without it taking 10x times longer than it should. ive also run dskchk and boot time virus scans and malware scans. all to no avail. i have more than enough ram and a quad core cpu. when i first purchased my laptop it
was running windows 8 and was lightning fast once i upgraded to 8.1 i think is when the issue started occurring.
i am currently installing the windows assessment and deployment kit right now and will upload my etl. file to the skydrive asap.

  • IMac 27" i7 won't turn on. No disk activity.

Ive seen some similar dicussions here but none that are exactly like what happened to me.
The big problem is my iMac is stone cold dead. I push the power button and nothing happens, no disk activity, no fans, no nothing. As if it had been un plugged.
I dont know if it could be related but I was sing Boot Camp. I created the partition, it asked for the windows disk, I put it in. the iMac restarted, I got the chime and the gray screen (no apple logo). I was expecting the windows installer to start up, no luck. The iMac was on the gray screen for several minutes, then the apple logo appeared and then I got the log in window. I thought it was strange so I restarted and held down the "option" key, I got the gray screen for several minutes again. I then got the boot menu where I could see "Macintosh HD", "Bootcamp" and "Windows"(DVD). So I booted with the windows disk thinking it would start up the installer. Several minutes went by and it was still on the same screen. Then it restarted by itself, I heard the chime. Mind you, I had unplugged all the external hard drives I had and what not. So I pressed down on the touch pad to eject the windows disk. The disk ejected and the iMac got stuck on the gray screen for several minutes again. It restarted by itself. I thought I would leave it to boot all the way into Lion again. This time the gray screen didnt go away, I waited for over 20 minutes, got frustrated and pressed down on the power button for a hard reset. I powered on again, got the chime, then I got a black screen with white text saying it could not find a boot device. So I thought I would restart and hold down option key to boot from "Macintosh HD". I powered it down, and it never powered on again. That was it. No Hard drives spinning, no fans runnig, nothing.
I checked the outlet, plugged the iMac to a different outlet, checked the power cable, etc. It all seemed fine.
I reset the SMC, several times in fact, and nothing.
I even opened the Memory Access Door and removed and put back the memory cards. Not sure why, but Im desperate.
So Thats it. Im gonna take it to the apple techs but I thought I would get some comments from the community. Any ideas??? . Any help is appreciated.
    iMac specs:
    3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
    16GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 4x4GB
    2TB Serial ATA Drive
    AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB GDDR5

Sounds like a failed power supply. Because the machine is covered by warranty take it into your local Apple Store or AASP for service. Make sure you book an appointment first. You can try doing a SMC reset and Pram reset first but I don't think they'll work.
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Windows 8.0 ntoskernel has producing 100% disk usage

hello i am also having the %100 disk usage problem and am starting a thread to upload my etl. file and
see if i can get a solution. thnx. i should also mention i have tried every suggestion i have read on the internet even ones that worked for other people did not work for me i.e. (switching to high performance power plan, disabling cd drive, etc.) no matter
what i try "system" is always utilizing 90%-100% of my hard drive.
the issue started with windows 7 Ent edition and I decided to reflash the drive Cof my  Laptop  HP Probook 6470B with windows 8.0 ENT 64 bits and has the
same symptom ntoskrnl.exe is causing hiccups on I/O  and delays . The access to C on windows 8 compared h Windows 7 is better  but continue showing the issue.
Other peers on the same company not complaint of this delay but I'm sure that they have same symptom.
the symptom is that the Ntoskernel read and write constantly  few bytes  for fractions of second but repeatedly, the effect is that  the queue disk
is high and this issue no let to use the drive C, the system need to wait that the drive is free to let that other applications can use the drive SATA.
I try to share my .etl collected with  windows performance analyzer ,  but "ONE drive" application no let my up more of 100MB in single
    file.
If you can help provide some space to upload the file will be appreciated.
    Regards
    Luis Velazquez

    Hi  Wanikiya,
Unfortunately I can´t remove the Mcafee sw due that is is a policy of my company.
Checking the MS Performance tool you can see that the behavior that show the disk is caused not by Mcafee process. You can select only Process system (4) and right click and select  filter selection you can see that the output match exactly with the
    disk behavior.
when you put the mouse and  click the top 100 % line of the graph you will see a message like this:
    Path name- c:\$logfile
    IO Init Stack -- [Root] /ntoskrnl.exe ? /ntoskernel.exe?/nto..../fvevol.sys!?/volmgr.sys!/partmagr.sys!?
the Pathname change in each point of the graph but the IO Init stack remain the same.
I'm afraid the the SATA drive is having an issue and windows try to fix.
But if you found something more let me know.
Let me tell you that I'm using bit locker encryption and all the data on my disk has been encrypted.
    Any idea will be welcome.

  • 100% disk usage in Task Manager when using Photoshop CC (Windows 8.1 - 64 bit)

    Hi
I have been using Adobe CC for a month or two now. I own an Asus laptop with Intel i7 (2.4 GHz), 6 GB RAM, 1 TB hard disk space and 64 bit, nearly 6 months old. Following apps are currently installed: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Audition, Acrobat XI Pro, Premiere Pro and Media Encoder. I recently performed an update through Adobe CC for Photoshop and Illustrator, all others are up-to-date.
I believe, but I may be wrong, that since this update Photoshop is acting weird on my laptop. When I start Photoshop, my task manager immediately indicates a 100% rate of my disk usage. This seems to wield off after it is fully operational, but when I start to edit a file, the disk usage immediately jumps back to 100%, while the CPU remains below 10%, RAM stays at 3.5-3.8 GB (only 60% of total capacity) and even the actual read and write speeds of my HDD are not particularly high (5 - 10MB max). And because of the 100% disk usage, Photoshop freezes in an instant and operating it is nearly impossible.
I already uninstalled Photoshop, went over all services and **** that could trigger this within Windows 8.1 (Google-search for: Windows 8.1 disk usage 100%) , re-installed Photoshop and I still have the same problem.
So, I was wondering if there might be a solution to this problem or if anybody else is having this problem as well?
    Thanks in advance!
UPDATE: This error applies only when I try to manipulate, add, edit or remove text. All other functions (not related to text) seem to work properly.

No, I don't know much about that, but I found a couple links for you..

  • Ideacenter a520 100% disk usage win 8.1

I have a few Ideacenter a520 and all of them have the same issue 100% disk usage and its killing productivity.  Searching around it seems this is a common issue with Lenovo but I have tried many of the fixes listed but cant get it to change.
-Restored to factory defaults with built in lenovo recovery - No change
-Stopped Services for Expresscach / uninstalled anything to do with it - No change
-Removed every Lenovo bloatware I could find - No change
-SMART test and all HDD tests pass the HDD fine.
-Tried to resintall with a fresh windows 8 disk but ALL of these WILL NOT boot from CD or USB.  Even BIOS wont list the CD Drive as a bootable option.  Wont accept USB CD/DVD drive either althought sees them fine in windows. -NO CHANGE
-No bios update for this modle.
-updated all drives and windows updates to 8.1 - NO CHANGE
Not sure what else I can do to solve this issue?  I wish I could boot off CD or USB media so I could do a fresh install and have 0 Lenovo Bloatware as that is probably the cause as found in other forms.

In order to diagnose your problem you will need to download and install the below
Install the WPT (windows Performance Toolkit)
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30652
Help with installation (if needed) is here
When you have, open an elevated command prompt and type the following
WPRUI.exe (which is the windows performance recorder) and check off the boxes for the following:
First level triage, CPU usage, Disk IO.
If your problem is not CPU or HD then check off the relevant box/s as well (for example networking or registry)
    Click Start
Let it run for 60 secs or more and save the file (it will show you where it is being saved and what the file is called)
Zip the file and upload to us on Onedrive (or any file sharing service) and give us a link to it in your next post.
