100 gigs already used on brand new Think Station P300

Hi,
just bought a brand new Think Station P300 with a 256GB SSD. 13 GB are already used on recovery partition and on the system drive only 127 GB are marked as free, so about 100 GB are already used. But what for? I am pretty upset that the system is using so much space. Deinstalled Norton and Office but this did not change much. Any ideas where to get rid of unneeded Stuff?

How much RAM do you have? The hibernation file (hiberfil.sys) and swap file (pagefile.sys) can take up a lot of space (both hidden/system files on the root of C proportionate to the amount of ram you have. From an admin command prompt, run "powercfg -h off" to turn off hibernation and delete hiberfil.sys. You can change the size of the swap file under System Properties > Advanced tab > Performance Settings... button > Advanced tab > Virtual Memory Change... button. I typically have an absurd amount of RAM, so I just set a static page file of 2 GB (cutom size of 2048 in intial and max). If you have another drive in the system, move it off the SSD.
Another thing that can eat up space is System Restore points.
You can also run disk cleanup to see if other stuff (like old Windows updates, unneeded device drivers, temp files, etc.) are eating up space.

Thanks, Ian. Yeah, that's how I do it now...or with the controls in the left side pane. Still, I would have liked that quick on-the-spot edit capability...especially while sketching.

When it crashes, i lose all my presents and it changes my preferences, it also fails to save or produce a recovered file despite settings asking it to do so every 5 mins now. When i try to report the problem, it says it has found an issue and gives me a link to a solution....but wont let me click on the link.... PLEASE HELP! It's killing my productivity.

If the crash started right after you added RAM, it could be a bad Ram dimm. You can try this - change the amount of RAM in Photoshop to 4G, this should stop Photoshop from using the higher ram. If it doesn't crash, it's probably the ram. Or run a diagnostic app. You don't say when it crashes, what you're doing when it crashes - it there a pattern? Did it ever work on this computer? Did it work on your previous computer? Without a lot of data, it could be related to the new computer... What OS version? Did you recently update it? Have you updated Photoshop to the most recent update?
Do you have any plug-ins loaded? Try restarting Photoshop, and immediately press & hold the shfit key to turn off plug-ins.

Now remove all your info and update the old AppleiD/iTunes account and use only that account.
You cannot transfer items between iTunes accounts.
You can redownload all the content.

Just started using a brand new ICD-AX412. I have recorded a meeting and the playback is fine through the 412. 2 problems.
1. With the expansion M2 SanDisk, it takes the 412 about 10 minutes to "Access". Top line says "Accessing" for 10 mins. Then it becomes available to record.
2. 412 will not connect to a computer usb port. Just says "connecting" forever.

The iPhone 4S is locked to Verizon; not sure if it can be used on other domestic carriers if it is unlocked. You would need to contact both Verizon and Tracfone about this.

23 mb used on brand new 1G Nano, and other problems...

Brand new 1G Nano. I followed all directions for setting up, so there was no problem getting started.
However, as soon as iTunes automatically detected the iPod for the first time, the memory bar at the bottom of the iTunes screen showed 23 mb used, and 889.6 free.
So, i thought i would follow the reset, restore methods, and see if that would work to clear it out.
Well, after countless times of resetting, restoring, reinstalling updater, and upgrading iTunes, I still cannot get the iPod to show a clear 1G of memory.
As well, everytime I hook up the iPod now, all I get on it's screen is "Do Not Disconnect", and the only icon on the desk top that appears is the nano icon with the red circle and bar. Once it's hooked up to my computer, and iTunes is open, and the iPod is detected, the only way I can turn off the iPod, or access the menu screen, is by ejecting it. Once ejected, I can access the menu and everything works fine.
What's going on?

You can't get that space back.
The Apple 1GB Nano is advertised as having a capacity of 1 Billion Bytes. (1,000,000,000 bytes)
Since a true binary megabyte (MB) is actually 1,048,576 bytes, the actual unformatted capacity of the 1GB Nano is really about 953MB. (1,000,000,000 / 1,048,576 = 953MB)
Since the iPod operating system, formatting and extras take up a small amount of space... you are left with about 892MB of usable space for your content.
A 4 minute AAC file at 128kbps would be about 3.75MB in size.
892MB / 3.75MB = 238 tracks. (Apple's estimate of 240 tracks is pretty accurate.)

you probably will have to. your new iPod Touch comes with iOS4, which requires that you must run iTunes 10, which can be only be installed on machines running OS X 10.5 or better.

As for the rest of your question, until you give us something resembling useful information, like what EXACTLY the problem is, and what error message(s) you're getting, we can't even begin to guess.

Apparently I cannot use this brand new 1TB G-DRIVE Mini in the USB port of my AirPort Extreme?

Even though an Apple "Genius" said I can. Seems to not be getting enough power, maybe. Why do they feature pictures of these G-Drives as examples for using this feature??? Or maybe I'm doing something wrong? When I connect it directly to my MacBook Pro it works fine, but when I plug it into the USB port on the AEBS it makes kind of a weak clicking noise and never shows up. I have a 500GB Western Digital PassBook that works fine for this purpose, so at least that one is getting enough power from the USB on the AEBS.

Thanks Bob, I actually found some of your advice for someone else with a similar issue during my research! I can see where a powered USB hub would probably help, considering it does seem like insufficient power (the weak clicking). And I do have it formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). I guess I was just wishfully thinking the problem would be something else, because I know it supplies enough power for a lot of other external drives, including my WD.
But as a final rant...seriously, why do they have a nice picture of an airport extreme with a G-drive where they advertise this feature. That's just annoying and misleading. And the people at the Apple store need to be better informed and more knowledgeable on the products they recommend and sell to customers.

Can i use a brand new macbook pro without internet connection? I can't get through the setup without specifying internet.

My friend bought on my advice a macbook pro. He has no internet connection at home. Getting started with the macbook pro, we can't skip the internet connection information box.
This may seem a little strange in a www organised world, but he only wants to use the macbook for storing photos and music.
Is there something we overlooked, or is internet connection a must?

There should be a place to select "Other network options" or some such wording, where you can select "This Mac does not connect to the internet."

Macbook pro won't charge or start at all. It was working one week ago and using a brand new 85W charger

Brand New Tseries, freezes constantly.

I receieved my Tseries laptop about a week ago and every time I've used it it freezes (can still move mouse and minimize applications, but they won't respond.) It happens 5 or so times a day and appears to happen randomly. I'm thinking it may be a Vista problem. I've looked around online but havent been able to find an answer that works. I'd love to be able to use my brand new laptop, but it never works for long before I need to restart!

Thank god someone else is having the same issues as me (not that I am happy that you are having isses but that it’s more than just my laptop). My laptop is brand new and is as follows
Vista Ultimate SP1
Core 2 T9300
4 gigs memory
Intel Turbo memory
Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M
NOT using Norton (and no I don’t have a virus)
All Drivers are updated
I have had the same issues with my laptop “freezing” up and not responding. It is only a partial freeze though and I can still click on the start menu and do the CTRL + ALT + DEL and try and restart. The problem is that most of the time I try and do anything else while the one program is frozen (as in clicking another program or trying to shut down the frozen one) then everything freezes and the computer will not recover unless I shut down the power by holding the power button. I have notice two things, 1 – it always freezes when it is NOT connected to a power supply (running from battery) and 2 – it is not related to any one program of software. I have had it happen to Word and to windows programs. Now it wasn’t much of an issue until one day I corrupted a windows startup file that I was unable to recover from. A complete reformat was needed to correct it and when I called Lenovo for support all I was told (Rudely) “we do not cover software issues” and they weren’t even interested in listening to the issues I was having. I almost jumped off a bridge because I lost days of un-recoverable work that I spent 2 weeks trying to recover and replace. Rather disappointed since Lenovo has a good rating with consumer reports. I now run Acronis and do a regular backup on a daily basis. I do this because my laptop continuously freezes and sometimes it won’t start back up and I have to reinstall windows again (this has happened at least 5 times in the several months I have owned my laptop). Since this issue has started I warned my company about the issue and the way that tech support just blew me off. Rather sad for Lenovo because we were looking to upgrade all of our employees to laptops and ended up purchasing them through Dell. (No problems so far)
If anyone has any thought as to a fix for this it would be a tremendous help since I have already devoted hours of my life to fixing this problem.
