100% packet loss
Hi there,
I get 100% packet loss whilst I am playing online on the Xbox, it only occurs on FIFA 13, I have contacted EA and they have said the packet loss occurs within the BT network, I was wondering if anyone else has the same problem and whether you could help me? Here is my trace route to the EA servers [Easo.ea.com];

Can you confirm what test you ran that gave you these statistics?
100% packet loss would mean that there is nothing coming through the pipe for that period of time. You are essentially disconnected at 100% loss, speed is the least of your concerns. That is also going to depend on what you are testing your packet loss test against. Perhaps VZW is blocking this particular test from completing.
A more standard test is to get a browser, connect to the Jetpack and navigate to SpeedTest.net. Run a few tests here and take the average speeds that are recorded to paint a better picture.
Xbox also has well known limitations with the VZW 4G LTE network. Unless something new has happened all Xbox users on 4G LTE are not able to host multiplayer games due to the NAT firewall that runs that network.

Three devices on network: 100% packet loss for my iMac.
I'm having intermittent bouts of 100% packet-loss pinging my router from my iMac, at the same time my iPod touch and neighbor's Windows laptop are surfing wirelessly from the same router.
Sometimes these bouts resolve spontaneously. Otherwise I need to shut down, wait, and restart my iMac to reconnect. The longer the shut down, the longer I can connect it seems.
The problem started a few days ago, after months of trouble-free performance with the same settings. The computer usually stayed up all the time. I hoped in vain today's OSX 10.5.4 and AirPort firmware updates would fix the problem ...
Post 10pm is the most common problem time, 'tho I'm not sure if that's a function of my iMac's uptime (wireless module is cooking?) or some electronic interference firing up near by. Maybe a virus?
Known potential sources of interference have been around for months/years: my old wireless 'phone is a 900MHz model, the next door neighbor's satellite antenna's been up for months. The dodgy power in this old building is hopefully offset by the APC UPS that powers my Mac.
Do I keep fiddling with the AirPort channels, or do I take my computer back to the shop for (another) warranty repair?
Greg./No, I'm not letting my neighbor steal my signal. He's subletting off me, and his access to my network (WPA2 encryption) is part of the "deal". He's a bit of a night-owl, and the late night download limit is pretty big, so it works fine all round.
I used his laptop's (and my iPod Touch's) uninterrupted access (while my iMac's floundering in packet-loss purgatory) as a way of "narrowing down" to the prime suspect: the iMac wireless module.
Greg./
ps sorry about the unnecessary alliteration; I had to substitute "purgatory" because the forum software censors "****" (aich, ee, ell, ell).

100% packet loss while trying to update SWTOR
Hi
Last few weeks I have been getting only 47kb/s when I download updates that connect to patch.swtor.com. I have asked on there forums and have done a pathping trace and have been told by them that there is a 100% packet loss in hop 3 & 5

SWTOR
this only happens for SWTOR and I also play GW2 but have no issues at all and get 300kb/s which is actually above normal.
Hope this can be sorted please
ThanksYou're not seeing 100% packet loss at those hops. If that really were the case, then you'd get no response from all subsequent nodes.
The Pathping output is telling you that those nodes aren't responding to 100% of packets addressed to them, but that they are correctly forwarding 100% of packets not addressed to them eg the destination.
If they were dropping a small percentage of packets it could point to a congested router etc, but the fact that it's 100% tends to suggest that it's more likely that those nodes are simply configured to not respond to ICMP echo requests.
Of more concern, I would suggest, is the real packet loss within llnw.net -
No connection! 100% packet loss.
I have an IP assigned to my router, and the link light is active on the OR modem. No websites are loading. Ping requests show 100% packet loss. Tracerts time out after the first hop.
I've tried 4 modem and router reboots. I then tried 5 different DNS servers, including bt, opendns and comodo.
I'm running out of ideas... Anybody have any suggestions?Sounds like a network issue mate. Try calling the helpdesk?

How do I fix 100% packet loss?
I have an 8mb connect but i roughly get like 4-5mb. I think i have the homehub version 1 or 1.5.
When i search for servers on Counter Strike Source and team fortress the whole interenet just resets and no servers found. I posted on the steam forums and they said it wass to do with packet loss.
I tried to test for packet loss on http://freeola.com/line-test/ and it says i have 100% packet loss then i tried on http://pingtest.net/ and it was unable to test for packet loss.

Hi. Welcome to the forums.
I tried both, and the freeola one failed with 100% packet loss, but the pingtest site returned 0% packet loss.
I expect the former is being blocked by firewall/router as expected.
Seems like they aren't quite doing the same thing.

Packet loss higher than 100% in SQL Reporting
One of our customers is having network problems and packet loss in their network - according to Lync. The network guys claim these values are unrealistic and there've been no dropped packets on their WAN network.
On the other side, I'm looking at a Call Details Report from Lync SQL Reporting and see this in the gateway leg information:

From this I feel there are things to troubleshoot. :-) but how come that Lync reports a 900% packet loss?
I thought that a 100% packet loss was everything... can someone tell me what exactly are these 100+ percentages?
Thanks in advance.latest patch level :) are you not seeing these values in your Server Performance reports?
The other thing that bugs me is when you have 1 call for 1 second with "900% loss", that would average down to get red values in the summary columns for the other 100 calls as well, as the calls are not counted for seconds, but just piece by piece.
So 8 perfect calls to this one above would average "100% packet loss per call" in the summary, which is just unusable... -
Percantage of packet loss on link
I am working with Cisco routers and i need somehow to find out packet loss percentage for each link (actual). I was trying to use ICMP Jitter IP SLA operation, which unfortunately returns only the number of dropped packets. So i need to get via SNMP the number of transferred packets on line to calculate the percentage. Which OID should i use to obtain this information?
Be careful, by definition a 10 Mbit half-duplex connection is equivalent to a single T1 of bandwidth, nothing even close to 6 Mbit of bandwidth. If you are running QoS (assuming CBWFQ and LLQ), based on a shaped parent policy equal to 6 Mbit you will definitely oversubscribe the 10 Mbit half-duplex connections by a significant margin.
The reason for this is that a T1 is 1.536 Mbit full-duplex (over 3 Mbit of bandwidth). A 10 Mbit half-duplex connection maxes out of usable bandwidth at about 30% utilization, with almost 100% packet loss (due to excessive collisions) at 40% utilization. As you can see, 40% utilization on a half-duplex 10 Mbit connection is equal to about 4 Mbit of bandwidth and a single T1 is over 3 Mbit of bandwidth. Again, not anywhere close to 6 Mbit of bandwidth.
Assuming you are shaping at 6 Mbit with a child CBWFQ and LLQ policy (you are shaping, right?), you will not be able to guarantee that rate of bandwidth which will crush your audio/video call.
Let me know if you have any questions/comments... -
Hi,
Going to keep it short and sweet, many of you know about the FIFA/BT/EA problem and the terrible connection online. Here is my latest traceroute to EA, don't know much about this kind of stuff, so are these results normal or is there something distinctly wrong?
Thanks.Ignore the 100% packet loss - it's a red herring. Those hops will be configured to not respond to traceroute type traffic. If you really did have 100% packet loss, then you'd also get no response from subsequent hops which isn't the case.
Your "issues" appear to be twofold:
A significant increase in latency on the transatlantic hop within level3's network.
Packet loss at EA - possibly (but not necessarily) due to congestion on their network.

I've just spent a fustrating 15 minutes with Bt Support chat who just seemed want to pass me on to the BT Business team, so I thought I'd post here, for a more informed response.Hi Jane, Thanks for the reply. I have now purchased an AEBS(n) to try to overcome this problem. The Apple site says it is compatible with all versions of Airport card so I thought it would solve the problem. My new problem is to be found here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1087292&tstart=0
However to answer your questions, The OS is 10.4.10 and I have run every updater I can find for all Macs concerned. hope this helps. -

These are the results of a test I ran, but I don't know how to solve the problem. The game is unplayable because of the amount of packet loss. I know it is an issue of connection between the game and my router, so should I get a new router if mine is old?The router I would imagine to be okay for the first bit, but for the sake of things, reboot the router and also try giving your ONT a reboot by unplugging it from AC power and then disconnecting the battery. Re-connect it after 30 seconds by connecting the battery and then plugging it back into AC power.
Also, see if the packet loss takes place during specific times of the day. If your router has a WAN connection over Coax (rather than an Ethernet connection) to your ONT, also consider checking your MoCa speeds based on this FAQ. Poor MoCa speeds can suggest shoddy coaxial causing some issues, too: https://secure.dslreports.com/faq/verizonfios/3.2_MOCA#16569

Bouts of packet loss and complete loss of connection
Ok forum, I give up! I need your help.
I have an E1200 and am time out and packet loss issues. The internet connection is fine for 30 seconds to five minuets and then everything times out for 15-20 seconds. Although it’s only a minor incontinence to web browsing, it makes playing games and watching videos a nightmare. “Lost connection to server error.” and the like…
This is what I have done to remedy the problem.
I upgraded to a new router, the e1200 I am currently using, from my Tenda 10/100 N. The problems where the same that I am experience currently and the reason I bought it in the firs place.
When I directly connect to the cable modem, I have no issues and everything is fine.
I have run a trace route and the second hop, (the router to the modem) is the choke point.
I have cloned the MAC address
I have updated the firmware and hard reset
I have throttled my MTU to automatic, 1500, and 1472. None making any difference.
I have disabled NAT and all that does is kill my internet connection
I have disabled all firewalls router and windows, no change.
I replaced the physical wire from the router to the modem.
I have disconnected all devices except one computer, and no difference.
I ran a DNS trace and I have… non routable local internet address 192.168.1.1
DNS-cac-lb-01.rr.com and DNS-cac-lb-02.rr.com
I am using windows 7 and my ISP is time Warner so-cal. Help me obiwan, you’re my only hope.Sorry friend. I have not had the gaul to load the 1.0 firmware. I am 99% sure I have the 2.0 hardware. I did however unplug my modem for an hour and then try and reconnect. The result was a lossless environment for fifteen to twenty minuets (a long time for me.). But, I am right back still having the same problem. A friend gave me a new netgear router, I am going to try that and I am going to go to Timewarner and have them replace my modem just to make sure there is nothing wrong with the surfboard. I will report back with my findings.

Packet Loss after Reboot of ASA 5510
Hi all,
I have an ASA and a 2811 behind it and I had to replace a battery on a UPS so I had to take down the network to do it. Before doing it the network ran fine, but I did a WR MEM and a Copy RUNNING to STARTUP config thinking that the configs I had were fine. At some point in the past I must of made a change and never applied it and maybe it is causing the issue, but I am at a loss as to what is the cause. I am getting consistent packet loss from the ASA out. Any address I ping on the inside is clear and quick. Also, I do not know if it is related, but I cannot get results from TRACE ROUTES and I believe I used to.
I have confirmed the PL is related to my network, if I plug the static IP info from the provider in to a laptop, it is clear. I am at my wits end, and I know just enough to be dangerous, so any help would be appreciated.
Here are my configs:

endI located the issue of the packet loss. I have a security system that uploads FTP images of the cameras and after the reboot of the network, the only computer that wasn't shut down was the security camera PC.
So I think what happened was after I brought everything back up, it was saturating the outgoing bandwidth, causing packet loss and high latency. Once I determined what it was and shut off the FTP image upload, the pings stabilized and it is working fine now. Trace routes are still not functioning, but I can live without that for now. -
What can I do about Packet Loss?
Hey Verizon Community,
As the title says, what can I do about packet loss?
I have been having network spike issues in the video game Starcraft II, and Blizzard support told me to run a pathping to their servers (pathping pasted below). Upon doing that, I discovered that in hop 4, also known as G0-5-4-5.BLTMMD-LCR-22.verizon-gni.net [130.81.191.214], there was 2% packet loss. What can I do about this? Who can I contact to try and get this resolved?

Trace complete.Actually it means nothing since its in the middle of the tracert. Probably the server supports the ping, but at a very low priority so the packets are being counted as lost. Many servers don't even respond to tracert.

Packet loss and eventual shutdown of port 80 on RV180
I have been using my RV180 router for about a year now. I have had very little issues with it overall. I have seperate wireless access points connected and use those for my wireless devices.
Recently, I started getting very odd connection problems it started as packet loss and then turned into connection loss. The odd part is that it only effects port 80 or the secured port, 880, if I remember correctly. Thats right, everything else on the network works fine. However, I can not access the internet or the RV180 router via it's ip address to check the status. VOIP, other lan networking, gaming, and bitcoin mining is completely uneffected. Direct connection to the modem works without any problems.
I have tried updating the router firmware but no help.
Each time I have this issue the problem is cured simply by unplugging the router and plugging it back in. Nothing else works because I can not log into the router. This problem comes along once a week or so. I have also tried enabling the logs but I get absolutly nothing when I reset the router and log back in. I have had similar problems with routers in the past becoming "bent" after about a year of use and requiring a replacement. I sort of thought that this wouldnt be the case with the Cisco because it is a good brand and came with a five year warranty. I have also scanned every PC on the network for viruses and malware but nothing was located. The remainder of the devices are IP cameras and such.
Can anyone think of anything that could be causing this?So I was able to get the logs tonight by repeatedly pinging the router and it would start letting me get traffic in again.
