$100 store credit + $100 iTunes credit ...

... equals $200 worth of goods... and would be a good place to start in Apple's attempt at restoring trust with their loyal customers.
Oh... and Mr. Jobs... if you like my idea... please feel free to comp me a shiny new 24" iMac (my wife's been bugging me to buy one... but I'm waiting for a price drop... and Leopard).

I don't feel that I am owed a refund... but many others in the Apple community do. I'm just along for the free ride.

  • What I did with my $100 store credit (iBluetooth review)

I finally redeemed my $100 store credit today and picked up the iPhone bluetooth headset. If you read the reviews of it, they are very very mixed. Lots say its bad, static, etc all. Lots say its good. If you havent seen it or used it before read this.
First off, its extremely small and comfortable in my ear. Ive already forgotten it in there twice since I got it this afternoon. Its very sleek looking to the point of almost being unnoticeable, unlike those larger ones that blink with blue lights and you look half borg. It fits great in my ear, but might not for everyone. If the headsets that come with the iPhone fit in your ear comfortably, this will too. If they dont, then this headset may not be for you.
In the box.. The box is similiar to that of the iPhone in design. Open it up, you have the bluetooth, a cool USB dock with an added port for the bluetooth headset, and another travel cable that charges both the iPhone and the headset at the same time. Very slick. It does NOT come with the wall adapter or an adapter for your cigarette lighter in your car. So, just a dock with atttached (non removable) USB cable, and the travel cable. Prety slick, both of them. It also comes with 2 foam pieces to slide over the earpiece to make it fit more comfortable. I dont need it, they are still in the bag. Its very comfy as is.
Connecting it. Piece of cake. I plugged the dock into my USB on my computer, plopped the iPhone in it and let it synch up with my iTunes. Worked fine. Why wouldnt it. Then I put the headset in its hole in the dock, and something pretty cool happened. Well, first my computer found the device. Why, I dont really know, but it did. Then next, the iPhone lit up, the usual battery you see "slid" down the screen a bit, and a new image appeared on the iPhone on top of the battery icon of the headset, and it too started to fill up with green as it was charging. Very, very slick. So when they are in the dock, not only can you see the status if your iPhone charging, but you can see the headset as well. Cool.
Usage. Most of the complaints for this device was static and lack of distance from the iPhone. I tested it out and found that yes, the distance is a bit limited for sure. 10 - 15 feet away from the phone I started to get static. My motorola headset I can walk all over the place around my house (ranch style) and not lose signal unless Im in the far corners away from the iPhone. But, ok. So I usually have the iPhone laying around or in my pocket. Really not a big deal to me. Under the 15 feet from the iPhone, no troubles at all. Crystal clear audio, easy connecting, picking up calls, etc. Callers said I sounded great and I heard them perfectly. There is no volume control on the headset itself, its controlled by the phone.
So. I like it. Its worth spending your store credit on. The base and travel cable are awesome. The device is slick, the connection to the iPhone simple, and the sound is good, as long as you stay within range of the iPhone.
    Pros:
the base and the travel cable it comes with
    Audio clarity (within proper distance)
inter-0perability with the iPhone and its immediate recognition of it
    Size and appearence
Fit (for me, as I mentioned, maybe not for everyone)
    Coolness factor is pretty high
    Cons:
    Limited range from the iPhone
Size - yes I know its on the Pro list too (Im thinking its going to be easy to lose this thing)
Garbage. I dont want to throw out the box, its too cool. So yet another empty thing laying around the house.

    Nice review markdr!
So first let me start by saying that I've owned the Jawbone since January 07 before most new what a Jawbone was and it does work as advertised. The problem I had with it was comfort. It didn't matter what combination of earbud and earloop I used, left ear or right ear, over a period of time it started to put pressure on my ear and hurt. The sound quality was always very clear (w/my Treo 750) but thin an tinny or hollow sounding and because of it's size it was always a chore as to were to put it when I took it off my ear. It doesn't fit well in a pants pocket without the fear of breaking the earloop off.
So when I got my iPhone and started to get bored with the Jawbone I decided it was time for something new and I got the Apple BT. As markdr reviews, everything about it is "cool" and I wanted nothing more than to really like it despite all of the negative reviews I read the only way for me to know was try it out myself and draw my own conclusion. I used it for about a week and had terrible static so I took it back to the Apple store and exchanged it for another thinking maybe I had a defective one. Well the second one does work way better than the first but still has static which is annoying as heck and I continue to have connection issues every morning just turning on both the iPhone and the BT to start my day. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but it shouldn't be that difficult. So last night I thought to myself, let's try the Apple BT with my wifes Moto Razor and see how it works. It was absolutely flawless! I put the Razor deep in my pocket while having a conversation and no static. I set the phone down on the counter and starting walking away with no static until I got about 25-28 ft away! I can live with that. So what's the issue hear?? Is it really the Apple BT or the BT implementation on the iPhone?? I'm thinking that there is a software issue with the iPhone as it relates to the Apple BT headset and there really isn't any issue with the Apple BT.
    Any thoughts to this?
But heck either way I went back to the Apple store and applied my $100 rebate and for a net cost of $29, I'm keeping it!
Thanks for your time and sorry for the long first post!

  • $100 app store credit upon macbook pro purchase, where is it?

I remember when I purchased my Macbook Pro from the apple website that it said I would get a $100 app store credit. How do I redeem this, am I wrong about this?

Are you talking about the educational deal?
Did they not send you a gift card?

  • Our $100 Apple Store Credit is Here!!!!!!!

    Hi everyone,
This is were the early buyers for the iphone can apply for their store credit.
    http://www.apple.com/iphone/storecredit/

I think I found one of the first problems with getting the credit. I bought two phones from the Apple store and because there was an issue with porting numbers over from a Verizon corporate account using iTunes, I had to temporarily activate the phones with a supplied number from AT&T and then call AT&T to have the number manually ported. When I entered my real phone number in it says that I am not eligible but I think it's because their records still show the temporary number that AT&T assigned me linked to my phone’s serial number. When I called Apple for tech support once they said that my serial number was associated with the original number that was assigned to me and not the real current cell phone number. I'm sure they will be able to resolve this but it's probably going to be with me visiting an Apple store. I’m afraid if I try and locate that original temporary number and enter it into the system the SMS message will go off into never never land. Errrr.....

I assume you are talking about the iPhone store credit? If so, the following link will explain everything.

Keep in mind that this credit can't be used in the iTunes store.

I want to gift a couple songs to my boyfriend, but when i try to gift the songs it asks for my credit card information. i have over $100 in itunes store credit from gift cards. i want to use that money to purchase the songs i will be gifting. why won't itunes allow that? i looked up tutorials and gifting should be easy and all you submit is the other person's email but thats not happening for me.

  • Use apple store credit to buy songs on itunes

is this possible? i would like to use the $100 iphone credit to buy songs.

My interpretation of Steve Job's letter is that you could not use the credit for purchases at the iTS. It refers to "a $100 store credit towards the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store."
Then again, that's not necessarily final: "Details are still being worked out and will be posted on Apple's website next week. Stay tuned."

  • I bought an itunes giftcarad to pay if off. I redeemed it and everything. When i try to buy something it says i can't and it takes me to the billing page. I can't use the credit card and i already redeemed the card. How do i use my store credit to pay it

I need help. i bought a itunes card and i reddemed it to pay off my debt. how can i use store credit to pay it off ?

If you mean use the balance of the credit and you don't have enough to buy iTunes media, you will have to purchase and redeem another gift card to make up the difference.

  • HT201359 What does it mean when a purchase is billed to "store credit"? Is it one of those iTunes gift vouchers? Only reason I ask is because I downloaded Ken Follit's FREE book from the 12 days of Christmas app and seem to have been charged 10.99 for it!

Thank you so much for the link. Am persevering thru it, will get there eventually, as I had already tried to press the Report a Problem link on the invoice, but it won' t connect to iTunes store on my iPad, it keeps saying can't connect. Infuriating. But thank you, you found me a link I would have taken ages to find.

  • HT2105 When you get a apple receipt for itunes songs and you paid with a itunes gift card do they charge you or give you store credit what's store credit is it good or bad or does it charge you if you have a free account with no credit cards at all is it

When you get a apple receipt for itunes songs and you paid with a itunes gift card do they charge you or give you store credit what's store credit is it good or bad or does it charge you if you have a free account with no credit cards at all is it bad?

iTunes credits are, for example, if you download a song from the store and it's found to be corrupt - if the track can't be fixed then iTunes support will tend to give you a song credit for a free download.
When you purchase music from the store then any credits that you have will be used first, then any balance that you have (e.g. from iTunes gift cards or allowances), and any remaining amount will be taken from your credit card.

  • Itunes won't use my store credit, it prompts me for my credit card

I was given a gift card for Christmas that I applied to my account. I made a purchase a recently as Feb 11 with it. At the top of the screen it tells me I have a $6.06 store credit left yet everytime I try to download a song it takes me to the credit card page. I even updated to version 10.1.2 of iTunes hoping this would resolve the issue but it did not.

I'm also having this problem, as well as another. This week I ordered two songs. The cost was removed from my store credit, and was charged to my credit card. I removed my card information, and tried to order another song. I was immediately taken to the credit card entry screen. I don't uderstand why it won't just charge the store credit. I don't want to continue to get double billed for things, and I will not put my card information back in....
