100% Utilization in Server

Hi,
Application Server UNX0124 on QR1( Quality ECC Ssytem)doesnu2019t seem right. Constantly shown as 100% utilisation, memory usage the same etc, even over wekeend when it didnu2019t seem that busy with jobs. Not sure if theres a problem with stats collector or some rogue process is using all CPU.Can you please suggest me.
QR1 is the dialog Instance running on AIX 6.1 & Oracle 10.2.

Hi
I even tried to run saposcol in the dialog mode but still no result.

The efficiency value in the dashboard is more than 100% in Project server 2010. As I have admin access trying to find out what could be the issue. Please reply if there is any suggestion on this.

    Hi Chaishashi,
Efficiency isn't a value that is standard in Project Server 2010, and so it is likely that what you are viewing is a custom report.  I suggest you contact the report author to resolve this issue.

  • New Log Files Not 100% Utilization

I just recently deployed my web app with new configurations to require my BDB to have at least 65% disk utilization (up from the default 50%) and 25% minimum file utilization (up from the default 5%). On start of my app, I temporarily coded an env.cleanLog() to force a clean of the logs to bring the DB up to these utilization parameters.
I've deployed the app, and its been chugging away at the clean process now for about 2.5 hours. It is generating a new 100 MB log file approximately every minute as it is attempting to compact the DB. However, at 2.5 hours, I just ran DbSpace and the DB utilization is only up to 51%. Perhaps most surprising are the following two facts:
    1) The newly created log files from the cleaner are nowhere near 100% utilization
    2) Some of the newly created log files have already now been cleaned (deleted) themselves.
There are 0 updates happening to the BDB while this process is running. My understanding was that when the cleaner removed old files and created new files, only good/valid data is written to the new files. However, this doesn't seem to be the case. Can someone enlighten me? I'm happy to read docs if someone can point me in the right direction.
    Thanks.

Sorry, somehow I missed that you weren't doing any updates, even though you said so. I apologize.
However, your cache size is much too small for your data set. Running DbCacheSize with a rough approximation of your data set size gives:
    ~/je.cvs$ java -jar build/lib/je.jar DbCacheSize -records 50000000 -key 30 -data 300
    Inputs: records=50000000 keySize=30 dataSize=300 nodeMax=128 binMax=128 density=80% overhead=10%
    === Cache Sizing Summary ===
       Cache Size       Btree Size    Description
3,543,168,702    3,188,851,832  Minimum, internal nodes only
3,963,943,955    3,567,549,560  Maximum, internal nodes only
22,209,835,368   19,988,851,832  Minimum, internal nodes and leaf nodes
22,630,610,622   20,367,549,560  Maximum, internal nodes and leaf nodes
=== Memory Usage by Btree Level ===
Minimum Bytes    Maximum Bytes      Nodes    Level
      3,157,713,227    3,532,713,035     488,281    1
         30,834,656       34,496,480       4,768    2
            297,482          332,810          46    3
6,467            7,235           1    4Apparently when you started, the cleaner was "behind" -- utilization was low. Without enough cache to hold the internal nodes -- 3.5GB according to DbCacheSize -- the cleaner will either take a very long time or never be able to clean up to 50% utilization.
Do you really only have that much memory available, or is this just a dev environment issue?

  • Integration Manager in Services causes 100% CPU Utilization in Server 2008

    Hi,
We have a number of custom integrations running on a Windows Server 2008 machine and one which continuely keeps crashing the Server.
We just recently upgraded our Server to this Windows Server 2008 and we did not have this issue on our old server.
This intergration is run through IntegrationManager under Services and runs every 5 mins.  The service is on continuously and never stopped.
We sometime have to reboot the server 2 to 3 times a day because this is crashing.
Would anyone have any ideas on why this might be happening?
    Thanks

Is it a homemade program/service ? I would check to be sure it's 2008's ready. (for memory leak, etc..)

  • Guest Domain Freezes with 100% utilization

I setup LDOM on a Sun Fire T2000 with one control domain and one guest domain. The guest domain is sharing the disk (on slice 6) with the control domain.
The slice is set as boot disk for the guest domain. Upon starting the guest domain, the utilization goes 100%. A telnet to the virtual console gets refused connection.
When I try to stop and unbind the guest domain (with a reboot), the slice is no longer unusable. format and newfs commands both cannot operate on the slice. What's wrong?

    Hi,
In the case of bug 6530040, the recovery method in the Release Notes is to reboot the system. In my case, even after the reboot the vds still does not close the device. I suspect I might use a wrong way to reboot the system. Can you give me an example for a system with control domain (primary) and a single guest domain (myldom1).
My steps would be as follow:
    $ ldm stop-domain myldom1
    $ ldm unbind-domain myldom1
    $ reboot
    Do I miss any step?
LDOM seems to have problem releasing the network interface e1000g0 also. How do I release it?

  • Root file system is 100% full on server with oracle databse

    hi,
This was very strange to me, i have a solaris 10 Generic_122300-03 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V440, with one oracle database running on it. The daatabase guys was doing some activity and the CPU utilization was 100%. I got an update from db team that their process was hung for aroung 2 hours and db was not coming up. At this point of time the / file system was piling 100% and suddenly the database came up and / file system came down to normal.
i am not sure what had happened, i didnt get an oppurtunity to check for any logs files getting generated under / apart from var or swap which can cause this. var is seperate file system.
any idea on finding this out?

Only thing I can suggest is to have auditing enabled - then you can possibly see what file or directories are being accessed during this time when it slows down. Also make sure you have enough swap space defined. I had production machines in the past that generated massive swap usage and the system would slow to a crawl during the time the application/machine was initializing for a run. Also check the usual messages in /var/adm.

  • Evenlog viewing causes CPU usage 100% on Windows server 2008 SP2

We have Windows server 2008 SP2 with strange behaviour. When I scroll down events in eventlog viewer CPU usage hits 100% and eventlog viewer freeze. CPU usage is split between 2 processes SVCHOST.EXE (lmhosts, eventlog and Dhcp services) and MMC.EXE.
1)I tried to replace eventlog files with new ones. That didn’t helped
2)After server clean boot problem still exist.
3)When CPU hits 100% usage process explorer shows that from SVCHOST.EXE process CPU is used by service EventLog.
Any ideas how to fix this?

    Hi Santosh
    I re-installed VMware
tools and also configured VMXNET 3 - nothing changed :(
    Sorry to hear that.
Windows event log service has couple of dependencies i.e. task scheduler and windows event collector service. Can try restrating those services ?
In addition to above, try following steps
Change NTFS permission of  %WINDIR%\System32\WinEvt\Logs directory, add Local Service and
Network Service, give them FULL permissions.
Stop and Start event viewer service by running following command
net stop eventlog && net start eventlog
Issues like this might occur if the disk (FC or iSCSI SAN or even NAS) has some inconsistencies , this is true in case of both physical and virtual machines
You might want to try running chkdisk as well on the server in question

  • Cwjava.exe uses 100% utilization in LMS 3.1

We have observed that cwjava.exe process nearle utilizing 80% - 90% cpu utilization in LMS 3.1
It makes that LMS server responding slow.
Please tell how to overcome this problem.

On which platform is LMS running?
what size does the syslog file has?
If you have Firewalls sending logs to LMS, this could bring heavy load on the server.
Another issue could be the name resolution mechanism for syslog messages and a slow or even failing DNS for these requests.
In LMS 2.6 - LMS 3.0.1 this could be enabled/disabled in
Common Services > Server > Admin > System Preferences
But it seems that they removed this config point in LMS 3.1 - at least I cannot find it...
These log files could shed some light on this:
    AnalyzerDebug.log
    SyslogCollector.log
Also the defined syslog filters could have an impact and slow down the process.
As a last resort, you also can try to just restart SyslogAnalyzer and SyslogCollector process and see if the problem goes away.  You should do this in a one-liner to avoid a manual resubscription of the SyslogCollector
    # stopping the processes:
    pdterm SyslogCollector SyslogAnalyzer
    # control their state:
    pdshow SyslogCollector SyslogAnalyzer
    # starting the processes:
    pdexec SyslogCollector SyslogAnalyzer

  • SA540 CPU 100% Utilization AND VPN Failures

I am having regular trouble with my SA540 in that the VPN tunnels are failing. When I check the VPN tunnel I also find that the CPU utilization is listed at 100%.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
Having 100% on some of your CPU is normal on the IPS platform.
The device is using it's idle cycles to prepare for the handling of the incoming packets and to reduce the delay it will introduce on their path so it is expected to get this even when under low load.
If you want to have a better idea of the capacity % of your IPS you are currently using, you should have a look at the Inspection Load value. Looking at the data you provided, you are around 25% at the moment.
For the rdep timeout message, it seems to be a software issue. Looking closer at the picture you attached, we also see "Analysis Engine Status: Not Responding".
It is a bit difficult to troubleshoot those on CSC so I would advise you to open a TAC case if you want to know the exact root cause.
What I would advise is to upgrade to the latest 7(0) code which is I believe 7.0(5a)E4 since the issue is most then likely fixed in this version.
If you are looking for a quick fix, a reboot of the IPS should clear this but the problem will most then likely come back later.

  • Cisco ips 4270 cpu 100% utilization...

when i try to go to the configuration then its give me the attached error..........document attached please check....

    Hi,
Having 100% on some of your CPU is normal on the IPS platform.
The device is using it's idle cycles to prepare for the handling of the incoming packets and to reduce the delay it will introduce on their path so it is expected to get this even when under low load.

    Regards,

If your filesystem is populated with more than 80%, then the performance can be drastically decrease. Please try to increase filesystem size to become less that 80%. Several options are available with zfs command to force ZFS filesystem size or to have an minimal size.

Suddenly the mSSQL-server has stopped working, and the application doesn't have any connection to it.
Also, I cant connect locally via SQL Server Management Studio.
Any ideas on where to start?
    Have SQL Server 2008 R2

    Try DAC first:

If that fails, go to Configuration Manager and restart the server.
