I have had some issues since a very nasty Adwear  attack , (Jeff) very kindly help with the 1st issue my sound, but I now have a Lap top that when starting up goes to a Blue screen for about 0.25 talks about dumping memory then re-boots.
Ran Beleric Advisor and noticed that (1016 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory) ?
I do not have a suitable re-boot point , and my XP disc has well gone !
Can any one help ?

So do I have an issue with unstable Memory ?
What's all the memory business about? So far as I know, neither of us have "unstable memory."

Nothing wrong with that. According to the spec, you should have 1 GB of memory.
Your bug check (Blue Screen of Death) was caused by a Kaspersky file (flcss.sys). Here's how to tear that stuff out by the roots. If you have a different one, I'll look it up for you.

    I tried swapping the two ram cards with no effect
    Any ideas?

  • How do I install memory into the Pavilion 17z-F2 series laptops?

    How do I install memory into the Pavilion 17z-F (17z-F200, product L2H13AV) series laptops?
    HP appears to have no maintenance guide available for this model series. What's up with that?
    Please, do not offer the generic (and out-of-date) Pavilion 17 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide. It does not appear to apply to the 17z-F series. This guide instructs to remove the bottom service panel which I could have figured that out on my own. However, the 17z-F series does not appear to have any removable panels at all. I took an up-close look at the Pavilion 17z-F100. And, it does not have any removable panels on the underside, except for the battery. So, I presume the 17z-F200 to be the same.
    I am a computer technician. And, this is the first laptop I have seen without any service panels. I am probably going to have to disassemble the entire outer-shell to install memory (or to replace the hard disk drive once the time comes). But, every laptop I have worked on in the past had its own special array of hidden screws or special tricks for disassembly. So, having a maintenance guide is a necessity to avoid damaging plastic mounts, clips, guides, etc.

    How about this one:

    Don't get me started on this. It's one of my pet peeves, too. HP is not the only one doing this. Acer and Toshiba, etc. also are selling "closed" systems now. I hate it. I will absolutely never knowingly buy one but I am spending a lot of time here answering questions just like this. Good luck and let us know how you do. Sounds like you will be fine.

    I took a look at the Pavilion 17z-F100 (sent by mistake). It does not have any removable panels on the underside. And, the User Guide for the 17z-F200 indicates that it will be the same (assuming it ever arrives).

  • Having trouble installing memory

    I have tried installing my new memory twice (in my brand new 'puter), and the profiler still does not recognize it (empty!). If I have apple care, should I bring in my computer for someone to look at why it isn't recognizing it? I have installed memory before, and I cannot figure out why this isn't working - and of course I don't want to break it! Thanks!

    It takes a lot of pressure to properly seat the modules in the new systems (iSight Versions).
    But, if you are feeling unsure, the peace of mind might be worth paying a shop a small installation fee.
    AppleCare would only cover the service if a defect is found with the computer. If the machine were found defective, then they might install the module for free after the repair was made.
    I had one installed in my computer (which I supplied) when they replaced my logic board.
    I could install it (and have previously), but I decided to let them do it when they had the machine open already. They didn't charge me since they would have had to re-install any installed memory anyway after the repair.

  • Retrieving installed memory on host system via SQL

    A spart of an SQL based report I am writing, I should like to obtain the installed memory on the host machine (which Oracle is running on) to aid memory allocation issues.
    Is this value held withing an Oracle table or, if not, is it available from other methods? I am not sure if I could use an os command to retrieve the value.
    The host is AIX (Unix)
    DB is Oracle 9.2
    Many thanks

    Thank you very much, that worked.
    Using host lsattr -E -l sys0 -a realmem | awk '{ print $2 }'
    I obtain my actual value.
    However, I need to be able to return it via a SQL select statement, since I am using a ADO method to run a single SQL statement and return a single value.
    Can this be done, do you know?
    Many thanks

  • Check installed memory with physical memory

    I need to check whether Physical memory is same as installed memory of multiple servers.
    By using win32_computerSystem command, i can get the physical memory, but how do i get the installed memory using powershell?

    I've tested the functions myself and modified your functions like this so it works
    function CheckPhysicalRam($Server)
    $PhysicalRAM = (Get-WMIObject -class Win32_PhysicalMemory -ComputerName $Server |Measure-Object -Property capacity -Sum | % {[Math]::Round(($_.sum / 1GB),2)})
    return $PhysicalRAM
    function CheckInstalledRam($Server) {
    $InstalledRAM = Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_ComputerSystem -ComputerName $Server
    $InstalledRAM = [Math]::Round(($InstalledRAM.TotalPhysicalMemory/ 1GB))
    return $InstalledRam
    function CheckRam($Server) {
    $InstalledRAM = CheckInstalledRam($Server)
    $PhysicalRAM = CheckPhysicalRam($Server)
    if ($PhysicalRAM -eq $InstalledRAM)
    return "pass"
    Else
    return "fail"
    Can you see if this is the thing you want ?
    Tested it with my test win7 laptop and other win7 devices in my domain.
    for my win7 32bit with 8GB physical and 3.41 available it says fail
    for other win7 64bit devices with 8GB physical and 7.xx availble it passes.
    You can also do it in one function, like this:
    function CheckRam($Server) {
    $PhysicalRAM = (Get-WMIObject -class Win32_PhysicalMemory -ComputerName $Server |Measure-Object -Property capacity -Sum | % {[Math]::Round(($_.sum / 1GB),2)})
    $InstalledRAM = Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_ComputerSystem -ComputerName $Server
    $InstalledRAM = [Math]::Round(($InstalledRAM.TotalPhysicalMemory/ 1GB))
    if ($PhysicalRAM -eq $InstalledRAM)
    return "pass"
    Else
    return "fail"

  • S20 - Installed memory 12.0 GB (7.99 GB usable)

    Hi all,
    I've just installed 12 GB of memory, but Windows 7 reports only 7.99 as being usable. Things I've tried so far:
    Checked the BIOS for an 'extended memory' option
    Checked msconfig to ensure there is no limit on memory specified.
    Googling around for a solution various posts have suggested a BIOS update or changing the RAM timings. The RAM is all the same kind - 2GB DDR3 PC 10600 ECC.
    Any suggestions would be welcome!
    Thanks.
    Solved!

    We've seen some issues like this with customers installing their own memory.  You really need to pay careful attention to ensure each DIMM seats correctly.  If it feels funky when installing the DIMM, pull it and reseat it to be sure.  Also make sure each latch is fully engaged and they are all aligned when you're done.
    Also, for best performance, make sure you're using the correct "fill pattern".  You should populate DIMMs in order (slot 1, then slot 2, then slot 3, etc.), but be mindful to note that the DIMMs aren't ordered sequentially on the board.  If you follow the labeling on the board and on the cover label, you should be fine.  Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Installed memory 4GB (932MB Usable )

    i cannot fix this proble.
    please reply fast.
    i can't download cpu-z from geven link.

    Hi,
    There was a fix implemented in Bios version F.25 for your notebook series that corrected an issue with machines not using the full memory capacity when running a 32bit OS in conjunction with greater than 2Gb of ram being installed.
    As HP Bios Updates are cumulative, you're probably better off just installing the latest version ( F.26 ) which can be downloaded from the link below.  Although not noted on the page, the cva file lists this update as compatible with the following operating systems.
    W732EN=OEM
    W764EN=OEM
    W732HB=OEM
    W764HB=OEM
    W732HP=OEM

    W732PR=OEM
    W764PR=OEM
    W732SE=OEM
    W732UL=OEM

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-134311-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
    Note:  Once started, do not interrupt the bios update in any way until it has completed - the machine may perform several restarts and may appear to be doing nothing for short periods of time, but just let it complete until it has loaded back into Windows.

    t43,
    I don't remember what chipset was in the T60p, but I am sure they are all the same and will not address more than 3GB of memory even though the processor fully supports the 64-bit instruction set.  I don't believe that there are any programs out there that can tell you what particular chipset is installed in a system but use can use the link below to find a number of motherboard enumeration programs.  I tried the HWINFO32 program and it is quite good.
    http://www.stevenscomputerrepair.com/Motherboard%20Chipset.htm
    To summarize, yes, on 3 GB systems, you are better with x86 than x64.
    Note that since I wrote my original post, I purchased a new T500 with 3.06 GHz processors and 4GB memory. I am now running x64 and I must say that the system is much faster than x86. Photoshop (or Photopig as I call it) loads in 1-2 seconds. Can't wait for the price of the 4 GB DIMMs to go down so I can go to 8 GB memory!

  • Installing memory in g4 quicksilver

    I currenly have 700+ mgs of ram installed on my g4. Each slot is being used. I wanted to pull one of the 128mg's out and install one with more memory that i pulled from another g4. This may seem like a dumb question, but can this cause a problem? Is it possible to lose data or screw up current programs by doing this?

    Hi, trouts -
    If the 1GHz Dual G4 is a QuickSilver model, there should be no problem.
    If it is an MDD (Mirrored Drive Door) model, the RAM will not be usable.
    By description, a G4 MDD uses DDR SDRAM, but a QuickSilver does not. More importantly, the RAM sockets in a QuickSilver are for 168-pin modules; the MDDs use 184-pin modules - they are physically not interchangeable.
    Pix of the two machines -
    QuickSilver - http://www.apple-history.com/images/models/g4_quick.jpg
    MDD - http://www.apple-history.com/images/models/g4_mdd.jpg
    Note - the above pictures are linked to from the apple-history.com website, a great resource for info about Mac products.
    If I were to put memory that's incompatible with my quicksilver, would that particular dimm read as "empty" in system profiler?
    If you were lucky. Doing that can also cause a no-boot situation.
