1080 50p in Premiere Elements 10 for Mac

I'm a new Premiere Elements user and I have a query regarding new project video presets.  I have a Panasonic SD900 which shoots full 1080 50p videos.  I was delighted to discover that both Organiser and PE itself will recognize the video files shot in this mode.  However I notice there is an absense of a 1080p50 project setting.  The closest I can get is 1080i or use the 1080p25 setting from DSLR.
I have found a file "Adobe Editing Modes.xml" in PE's application folder, which I think contains the project import presets, but the XML structure isn't straight forward.  I've found plenty of posts regarding the Windows version, and folk creating their own 1080 50/60p presets and dropping it into the appropriate location and this seems to work well.  Unfortunately the Mac version doesn't appear to have such a straight forward option.
Has anybody achieved getting 1080 50/60p into PE10 for Mac?  It seems odd that I can output 1080 50/60p but can't edit natively in this mode.
Any suggestions most appreciated!
Cheers,
Graham

Thanks for the repsonse Steve.  I know I'm asking a lot from a "consumer" grade product and until now, I have been doing as you suggest and shooting in 1080i.  The problem I've got is that I acquire vision of severe weather to sell to media and use Elements to top and tail the raw footage. I want to acquire the footage in the highest possible quality.  It strikes me as slightly odd that a) Premiere Elements can output 1080/50p but not ingest it and b) the workaround on the windows version seems to be successful for windows users, from what I've read.
I can live with sluggish performance (I've got a top-of-range Macbook Pro) in order to provide the highest quality video to my clients.  I don't make enough to justify the expense of the full version of Premiere just to top-tail footage and was hoping I could find a similar work-around as windows users have.
Having come from iMovie, PE is streets ahead in terms of it's professional functions (iMovie looks like a toy in comparision).  If I can just crack this final nut, it will be the perfect solution for me!  Thanks again for your helpful response!

  • Language for Premiere Elements, for MAC

    Hello,
What's the reason for doesn't launch Adobe Elements for MAC (last version = 12) in spanish language?
    Thanks

Some purchased Adobe Premiere Elements Editor or Adobe Premiere Elements Quick Editor from the Mac App store instead of Premiere Elements Mac from Adobe.
I checked online regarding the Mac App store and their Premiere Elements offered...
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/purchases-mac-app-store-faq.html
looks like last date on document is around May of 2013.
    Note that even there
Spanish is not an included language for "Photoshop or Adobe Premiere Elements".
    Curious.
I suspect only Adobe has the answer for no Spanish version of the product. You could contact Adobe via Adobe Chat to determine what workaround, if any, exists for those wanting a Spanish version of the product.

  • What is the smartest way to apply green screen effects in premiere elements for mac?

Videomerge looks messy and difference matte kills the foreground and difference video entirely, leaving only the background

    Mike Way Jr
What version of Premiere Elements are you using on your Mac computer?
Did you apply the Difference Matte write up that I posted? Many Premiere Elements Windows and Mac users have reported using the technique described for Green Screen.

I have not heard of any alternative for the Premiere Elements Mac user other than go Premiere Elements Windows.

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on? Have you updated 12 to 12.1 Update using an opened project's Help Menu/Update?
    If not, please do so.
Please clarify  "Can't add files filmed in 1080/60i to Premiere Elements 12."
Are you importing the 1080 60i into the project using (Expert workspace) Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets?
If so, are you getting an error message inside of the video appearing in Project Assets?
Are you setting the project preset manually or letting the program do that task automatically?
    What is the project preset?

  • Text Save Style in Premiere Elements 13 Mac

I can't save styles for text in Premiere Elements 13 on my Mac. I can make one, only one, but it won't save the name and lately it hasn't even saved the style. What should I do to fix that?

Are you working in the Expert workspace or the Quick workspace of the program?
Adobe has just released the 13.1 Update for version 13. Have you downloaded and installed it? If not, don't right now.
Please do this mini test first in a new project...
    1. Open the Titler with Text Menu/New/Default Text
    2. In the Text Section of the Titler create your text, apply a style to it from the Styles Section of the Titler, and save
the text style in the Style Section of the Titler.
If that is what you have been doing, then update from 13 to 13.1 And, repeat the mini test run. Do you have the same problem
in 13.1 as you did in 13?
If so, go to the Quick workspace, and repeat the mini test run there. Do you have the same problems in the Quick workspace as
you did in the Expert workspace?
If that does not help the situation, then please delete the Premiere Elements 13/13.1 setting file which should be found

  • Editing iMovie files with Adobe Premiere Elements for Windows

    Hi,
My 12 year old asked for Final Cut Pro for Christmas to edit movies he takes on his iPod touch and iPad. However, he has a Windows-based desktop. As I understand it, Final Cut Pro is not a Windows-based program. I thought we could get him Adobe Premiere Elements for Windows, but will he be able to manipulate his iMovie files easily? I have no idea what format the iMovie files are. Will he be able to download them to his Windows desktop, edit his movie, and then upload back to his Apple devices? Thanks!

    clue
Bottom line: Making distinction between video editor project files and formats of exports.
    Details...
The iPod touch and iPad typically offer video files H.264.mov or H.264.mp4 formats. This is not a Mac versus Windows matter because we are talking exports (.mov and .mp4) not project files from a video editing project.
He should be able to take his iPod or iPad device videos and edit them in Premiere Elements. And, then he should be able to return them to his device(s).
But, many of these devices record video with a variable frame rate (depending on the lighting conditions to a great extent). Premiere Elements (any version) can have problems with such video to the extend (a) out of sync audio (b) cannot import file at all. I have a iPod Touch 4th Generation and have no Premiere Elements importing/editing/exporting problems with my 1280 x 720 @ 30 progressive frames per second (H.264.mov) video from that iPod.
Below is an excerpt of Premiere Elements 13 exports that might be of interest...

The ideal way would be to look at the tryout of Premiere Elements 13 before purchase. If not possible, then, if purchased from Adobe direct, there
should be an opportunity for money back within 30 days of purchased. If purchased from an authorized reseller, then the refund/return would be according to the policy of the retailer.
Please let us know if you are OK with the above information. If you need more information, please do not hesitate to ask. If clarification on anything that I have written is needed, please let me know.

  • Hi, I have bought Photoshop and Premiere Elements for windows, but I now have a iMac and would like to deactivate on the PC and transfer the programs to the iMac. Is that possible even do I bought it for Windows?

Hi, I have bought Photoshop and Premiere Elements for windows, but I now have a iMac and would like to deactivate on the PC and transfer the programs to the iMac. Is that possible even do I bought it for Windows?

Normally an Elements purchase is good for both platforms.  You should only need to download and install the Mac versions of the programs and install and activate them using the serial number you have from the opriginal purchase.

  • I bought Adobe premiere 13 for mac and it says blank disc when I try to upload it. Why? and How do I fix this?

The premiere  elements 13 and Photoshop elements 13 for Mac disc reads as blank when inserted for upload. I bought it at Staples. Now it won't upload.
Is there a reason for this? Is it a faulty disc or does it need to be activated somehow?

    tarah
Some places sell the product with a redemption code and not the serial number. Then the user has to go through the procedure of getting the serial number from the
redemption code. Another factor is whether or not you purchased a Student Teacher version that may have come with a Product Code.

Are you saying that you insert a disc marked specifically for Premiere Elements 13 Mac installation, and it opens to give you a blank disc?
When you write "for upload", do you mean insert disc for installation?
You can obtain tryout installation files from the following web site and insert your purchased serial number (if that is what you have) into them during installation.

  • Blank DVD Template in Prem. Elements for Mac

Years ago when I was a Windows user I LOVED using Premiere Elements to import and edit home videos. The editing, chaptering etc was so easy and I I was really happy with the final product. One thing I really liked was when I created the DVD menus etc I had access to a blank DVD template so I could use my own background picture etc. I never cared much for the "themes". Is there a way with the new prem elements for MAC to have a blank DVD template?

As usual and as I remember you to be you are so helpful! What I would like is to have to custom templates. The first would be just a generic background where I could insert my own picture. I don't use video link boxes or anything so I prefer the links to the "menu markers" to be just text. For instance, say I am making a DVD of a theatre performance. I would like a general "play all" button that will play the entire performance. I would also use a "Act 1" button and a "Act 2 button". I do chapter each scene but to avoid having 10 pages of "scenes" I'd prefer the "scenes" to not be accessible from the main menu. Most every DVD from theatre to concerts to home movies I do like this. I only like to have one main menu menu. No submenus. I used to have 1 custom template that did that. The second one would be exactly the same but would offer a "scenes" button in the instance I did want to add a "scene" menu as well. I really, really hope this makes sense.....
And I don't want to come across as crazy, but when I installed the demo on PE9 on my mac, I only have one template called "fun" and I can't change the background image. There is a little dropbox within the menu that I can add a video or pic, but that's only a small hole in the template, the rest of the background I can't change. I'd be happy to take a screen cap if I am not describing it correctly...
Short story long, it sounds like Steve both templates you said are for free on your site will do what I am needing to do. How do I go about downloading them?

  • "Sliding Boxes" wipe transition in Premiere CS5 for Mac?

Hi, I have a fairly simple question. Can anyone verify that the wipe transition "sliding boxes" is available in Premiere CS5 for Mac? It wasn't in Premiere CS4 for Mac, it only featured in the Windows version....
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Just dit a check of the 'sliding boxes' in CS5.5, but didn't found it.
However do you know about the new plugins from FilmImpact.net?
These are great quality transitions for Premiere Pro CS5 & CS5.5.
They are freely available for Windows & Mac!
