1080p HDTV only receiving 720p signal thru HDTV DVR

I just installed a second HDTV DVR via a 1,000 Mhz 2-way splitter. Everything works fine except the new VIZIO 1080p HDTV is only receiving a 720p signal from the HDTV DVR. The VIZIO TV auto senses the incoming signal so there is no setting on the TV I can change. My other HDTV is still receiving a 1080p signal.

Thanks so much. That did the trick. I thought I had scrolled through all the menu settings options before but somehow missed the one I needed. Thanks again.

My iphone 4 on ios 7 (t mobile uk) only receives 2G signals not 3G. 3G only works when network settings are reset. Not sim problem because it works on another Iphone just not on mine. I tried contacting t mobile they gave me boosts but worked for 30 minutes and then back to 2G. I tried restoring without back up and everything. Any suggestions?

I just got the Sony BRAVIA 60" Class / 1080p / 120Hz / LED-LCD HDTV and I have a Yamaha RX-V1800. I want to buy and hook up a Blu-ray player to both. What the best way to do this? Should I use the optical audio to connect the Blu-ray to the receive and the HDMI to connect to the TV? I really want to be able to use HDMI for the audio but then I'm left with only component video for the TV. I can't filter the sound through the TV, this does not work. Does optical produce good audio?

Okay so I did try to run everything through the Yamaha receiver and the refresh rate is just to slow. I put in the DVD Salt and as soon as there was a chase scene I got lot of blurring. Since I'm not going to get a new receiver any time soon is a HDMI to the TV and an optical to the receiver the best option?
You have no idea what you are doing which is why your results are not pleasing. Simply connect the equipment with HDMI cables as instructed and use only Blu-Ray discs as they are full-resolution sources. Your Blu-Ray player applies upscaling and processing to your DVD which is why it looks like crap and your receiver would do the same depending on the settings. You also need to check the settings on your player and HDTV to get them both aligned for the best picture quality.
Well I did use HDMI cables, and I also checked all of the setting on both the receiver and the TV. I did not use a Blu-Ray or player as I have not bought one yet. So are you saying the only way to not get a blur when using this set up would be to only watch Blu-Rays?? That does not make much sense. Also I would like to say I have some idea what I'm doing but obviously not as much as many people on this site, that's why I posted my question here. Thanks though for pointing out the obvious, It was very helpful of you.

• Thunderbolt to AV receiver and on to HDTV

I am trying to play movies through my new Yamaha RX A-2010 AV receiver from my Macbook Pro via the thunderbolt connection converted to HDMI.
The receiver recognises the sound, but the laptop does not see the HDTV through receiver. As a consequence, no image signal is sent to the receiver, and then on to the HDTV.
When I connect the laptop directly to the HDTV - the TV appears as a display choice alongside the laptop, and when chosen, the image is perfect.
I then connect the headphone jack out via phono/RCA plugs to the receiver and I get sound, which appears to decode into surround sound, but this is quite inelegant.
Am I doing something wrong, and is there a way of getting the laptop to recognise there is anothe monitor?
Thanks

OK, back before I bought my Apple Thunderbolt Display, I used this adapter from Monoprice to connect to my Denon receiver and thus to my LG television. Worked a treat. I just had to get the setup right on my MBP and everything just worked.
I don't know if the problem is your adapter or not - the one I bought from Monoprice carried both audio and video without any extra cables. All of the DSP was done through the receiver.

• 720p signal on 1080p television set

How well does it work when you watch a 720p signal on a 1080p television set?

yingopilee wrote:
It's fine. 480 on the other hand looks like crap.
Actually a good quality 480p source (such as a DVD) will often not look too bad.
Problem is that classic analog TV was 480i AND it was bad quality even for 480i.

• HDMI Receiver no Signal

Hello!
I purchased a MAC Mini to run PLEX Media Server! Everything works great till I turn off my receiver then the screen doesn't display and receiver says "No Signal".
My Setup is as follows:
MAC Mini <--HDMI--> Onkyo Receiver <--HDMI--> Samsung TV
Mini OS Version - 10.8.2 (I don't recall seeing this issue in 10.8.0, but I'd need to confirm that again).
Harmony remote, with PLEX configured to accept the remote commands from the Harmony.
When I hit "All Off" the TV and the Onkyo power off, and all is good! On the MAC Mini, I'm now unable to get to my iTunes library from my iPhone (Remote App), and I'm unable to get on the Mini via VNC (I have VNC enabled). I am however able to SSH into the Mini during this time and issue commands, etc. When I power on the receiver (to use the mini), the receiver reads "No Signal" and the only way for me to get the screen to come back is to reload the Mini, sometimes even pulling the power cord. If I leave the receiver on, all is good and the Mini runs as expected.
It seems to be something when the Mini loses its signal from the receiver causes something bad to happen to it. I can switch between sources on the Receiver, but as soon as I turn it off is when I need to walk up and reboot the mini.
Is there another version of OS X that I can run that may not see this issue (Lion, Snow Leopard, etc)??
Any help with this will be greatly appreciative.
Dave

Hi,
I tried everything. When I change the resolution to 1080i or 720p it works and I can see the screen on my TV via the Yamaha 2065. But when I change to 1080p. There is no signal.
But I have other 1080p devices as well. My PS3 is working fine on any port. But not the MacMini.
In looked in the setup of the Yamaha Receiver and there is no option to change the mode to Pass-Trough.
But due to the fact, that the PS3 is working with any HDMI Port it should be fine.
But when I connect the MACMini directly to my Samsung TV, 1080p is fine. So, the cable and the settings are fine.

• Ok so I use an hdmi connector on my iPhone 4S to watch netflix. But after I updated to iOS 7 it will not work my tv doesn't receive a signal. Does anyone have any insure to this please help .!.!.

The 8 pin Lightning connector can only output 720p and lacks all iPod Out functionality unlike the full iPod Out functionality and 1080p that the 30 pin connector has and I suspect that they are coding iOS 7 specifically for the new devices which have severely reduced abilities and perhaps skipping adding the code needed for 30 pin devices to use their functionality with HDMI, etc.

• TS3623 Apple TV works fine if connected directly to Samsung tv, but shows no or incompatible signal when connected through Harman Kardon AVR 1565 av receiver, other signals like dish satellite receiver work fine both ways

Apple TV (1080p) works fine if connected directly to Samsung tv, but shows no or incompatible signal when connected through Harman Kardon AVR 1565 av receiver, other signals like dish satellite decoder work fine both ways.

Does it help if you set the output to 720p.

Hi everyone,

Can i use two channel of USRP at the same time to receive a signal ?
I need the original source signal and time-shifted version of this signal.
Many thanks for your help.
Sincerely yours,

Hello,
I found this forum post which may be helpful to you. It looks like you can't receive from the two antennae in the way that you describe. I think this would require a two USRP setup.

• Need help in transmitting TV signals thru an IR Led via mydaq

Hi,
I currently have this project that uses mydaq to receive the TV remote signals and stored in a measurement file.
I have come to the stage where i can store the demodulated signal via IR receiver in a text file. However, I have difficulty in transmitting the signal thru the IR Led that is connected to ao1. I have already multiplied the stored waveform with a 38khz carrier frequency square wave. Can anyone help me on this?

What kind of problems are you having? Do you get errors? Does the TV always switch to "I Love Lucy" reruns? What kind of amplifier/driver are you using for the LED? The myDAQ AO lines are limitied to 2 mA, which is at the low end for driving an LED.
Are you using the correct modulation scheme? The Philips RC-5 code, for example, would not be generated by multiplying a waveform by a carrier. The myDAQ anaolog output is fast enough to generate this signal, but I do not know if the timing can be set to the exact frequency required. The pulse is specified at 6.94 us.

• I'm having problems receiving/sending emails thru Outlook.

I switched internet connection from AT&T to Comcast and I'm still utilized several AT&T email address's for free. I'm having problems receiving/sending emails thru Outlook. Could the problem be due to using their free emails with no support.
Do I have to go thru yahoo to read/send emails?

Change the ISP would not effect the email connection generally. (Only when ISP disable your mailbox which they could control directly.)
I suppose that your Outlook still store/cache the AT&T messages, try to export them as PST data file for backup.
Setup the new Yahoo in your current Outlook first and then import that backup.pst to continue to use.

• WRT54G2 slows computer receiving wireless signal

Basically, i got a desktop computer connected to the modem n router with a laptop and ps3 receiving the signal. Internet works fine on all 3 seperately but the problem only occurs when the desktop computer is on the internet. When its on, the internet on the laptop works but is very slow and receives constant 'the connection has been reset' errors in the browser and also has trouble signing in to msn. With the ps3, the internet doesn't work at all with the desktop on the internet. Anyone know wuts wrong??

Upgrading the router's firmware might help you...Download the Firmware from here , Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device: -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page.In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
Leave the username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful" After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router and check if your problem is resolved...

I can not send email from my iPad . Have been using it for over a year, all of a sudden I can only receive email. I have a wifi connection in my home and have a A T &T cellular data plan?

I have a 1st gen iPhone that I just updated the software to 2.0.2
Now whenever I press the mail icon it goes to the mail app for about 4 seconds, does nothing, no loading of folders, old messages, nothing.
Then it reverts back to the home screen. Tried restarting, haven't tried restoring, thought I'd look here first.
Anyone???
