How can I get my 1080 film from my camera using camera kit onto iPad
I am using the camera connection kit USB adapter. Can't use the card reader because the camera doesn't have an sd card only internal memory. I have a gut feeling that the camera is trying to charge through the USB port (which is where it charges from) but the Ipad is showing that message because maybe something isn't set right on the camera. Thanks for the help though. Any further thoughts/ideas would be appreciated.

Can anyone help me move video from Sony HDR-XR550 to ipad 3gs via camera connector kit?
Can anyone help me move video from a Sony HDR-XR550 to ipad 3g via camera connector kit?
You can use iPhoto for the import. iLife apps are integrated. From within iMovie you have direct access to iTunes for adding music, and iPhoto for photos and videos in the iPhoto library.
Or you can use the Image Capture application for the import if you prefer placing such imports into manually created folders and not using iPhoto. -
Has anyone experienced problems with downloading Nikon D800 files to the iPad3 using the camer connector kit? I have tried .RAW and JPEG (of various sizes) on both SD and CF cards, but the iPad doesn't recognise the files.
I have seen various forums discussing Lightroom and PSE updates that are required to process .NEF files but I can't find anything on the iPad/camera connector issue.
I dont have any problem if I put the SD card straight into the SD slot in my iMac and Aperture will process the files fine, but I would really like to be able to download and view files on the move on the iPad.
Any advice appreciated?
PS - saw something that suggested the iPad had a maximum file size of 16mb for photos, not sure if this is correct, but I have tried smaller JPEG files and they still aren't recognised. If your camera supports both PTP and Mass Storage Device modes, it may be necessary to use both modes to import all media content.
If some files do not import as expected using one mode, try switching to the other mode and importing again.
Note: Some cameras may refer to PTP as Pictbridge or PTP/Pictbridge. -

Is it possible to put films on an ipad using a camera connection kit?
I have just bought a camera connection kit for my ipad 3 and a 16GB sd memory card. i was wondering, is it possible to add mp4 films (such as Transformers) onto the ipad using the camera connection kit from my sd card?
You can. It's just not the easiest thing in the world to do.
MP4 files play just fine. Handbrake is one very good video converter app.
Make and have the file on your computer.
Using the explorer on your computer, You make a folder on the SD card named DCIM
You give the movie a 8 character name TRANSFOR.MP4 for example - has to be exactly 8 characters + extension
You put that file into the DCIM folder using your computer
Eject the card from your computer.
You attach that card via the camera connection kit, to your iPad
The photo app should pop up and you'll see either a poster frame or a black box representing your video
You go through the import process and move that file to your iPad
You finish the process, taking care not to delete the file off the card (the CCK always gives you the option of deleting the photos or movies you just imported)
You open the photos app and tap on the movie, it'll open the video app and play the movie
You finish the movie then have to delete it off your iPad.
You will not see file names, so if you have multiple movies on a card you likely can't tell one from the other.
And you have to have room to import the file, you cannot watch it off the card.
So it works, but isn't exactly seamless and easy, largely cause the preferred method is that you simply purchase and download the same movies from iTunes -
How do I use the camera connection kit to transfer photos from iPhone 4 with ios 7.0.2 to iPad 2 with ios 7.0.2?

Once pictures are moved from your camera to your iPad (using the camera connection kit), how do you get the photos off of the iPad? They do not show up in my photo stream or my iCloud. I am able to see any photo I took on the iPad using the iPad camera (in iTunes, photo stream, or when I open windows explorer and browse the iPad director), however I cannot see any photos transfered from my camera to the iPad. The camera connection kit must have put my photos in a directory I cannot get to and cannot sync.
The links below have instructions for deleting photos.

I don't have a wireless printer, and want to print things off of my iPad. I know that I can use the iPad Camera Connection kit to connect USB devices like keyboards and I am wondering if I could do the same with a USB printer.
I don't think you can connect a printer since you won't have the printer drivers. I use FingerPrint from collobos.com to print to my non-AirPrint printers.

Camera connection kit for ipad 2. Can this kit be used with ipad air and if so what adapter(s) are required please
You can try the 30 pin to lightning adapter but I'm not sure if that'll work. So if you get it to experiment, make sure you can return it. Apple does sell a SD to lightning adapter for the newer devices. So that should be a sure bet. The main downside is that your 30 pin camera kit came with both USB and SD for 29 and now the USB adapter is 19 and the SD adapter 29, so more expensive.
You may want to look into third party adapters, but make sure you use a reputable manufacturer (ie not a cheap no-name off amazon) because iOS7 brought with it software that looks for a signed chip in the adapter. And a chip is 'signed' when a company gets apple's permission to make accessories. I would suggest sticking with companies like Belkin, Kensington and Targus. They seem to be of a better reputation when making things and would have a signed chip. -
Can I use a plug in USB camera reader to have a load of movies etc on an external hard drive and then plug and play so to speak? I'm off on holiday and haven't got the capacity on the iPad to have everything on that I'd like for the kids.
So basically I want a hard drive with X amount of films etc on. Can I then watch them on my iPad?
Hope this makes sense.External HDD won't work.

How can I use an iPad as a movie camera monitor?
Hi all.
I'm a pro organist and very often I am pinned to the side of a cathedral wall or in a position
where I can't see the conductor. I'd love to find a kit where I can fix up a camera into an iPad
that displays the moving image in real time - as in, no delay. I have to see the conductor's arms
move on screen at exactly the same time as it happens - with no delay or ghosting.
I have an old (8yrs or so) video camera with an AV output which I can plug into an old,
small portable TV screen and that works fine, but it's a lot of kit and caboodle to carry around
and find space for in often small organ lofts! Anyone have any ideas for a simple camera
into iPad set-up in real time? Thanks.Try idisplay mini app

I have just bought a hdmi tv and would like to view very high quality images, using apple tv, stored on my external hard drive. I also have blue ray movies stored on my external hd. will i be able to stream these to my tv and view them in 1080p?
sorry, why isn't correct?
i try convert video with quick time to apple tv, import in itunes( that's ok) but is impossible to synchronize my apple tv ( unsupported file).
where I wrong?
please could you explain me the correct procedure?
i have some video ( holiday movie an photo movie in mpeg2 full HD) to convert for apple tv, and from 2 years some video editing with imovie.
normally I prepare my video with Imovie, create a file .mov full hd (like master) and with roxio convert file for apple TV.
apple world is new for me, after 25 years with microsoft!

Since updating my iPad devices (iPad 1,2 and iPad) with the latest iOS, I can no longer use the camera connection kit to load photos directly into my camera roll. Anybody have any ideas on remedying this problem?
Open Disk Utility, select the External Hard Drives first icon in the list of Drives, click the Repair Disk button.

Camera kit iPad: what settings to use in HandBrake so video will play?
I'd like to put some video footage on an SD-card and view it on my iPad with the camera kit. Importing it into iTunes is a hassle.
My preference is to use HandBrake where I can select a default setting and 'go' - I not keen to experiment with audio settings, frame-rates, codec etc. Looking for something 'idiot proof'. Any suggestions .. please ?Have you tried the default iPhone/iPod settings? It's been a while since I've used Handbrake but I believe it still has defaults for various iOS devices.
For what it's worth, you're probably going to find that transferring video by putting it on an SD card is a far bigger hassle than using iTunes. The directory on the card has to match what a camera would create. The video has to have a name that the CCK can use. I've forgotten the exact requirements for the name but it's something like 8 characters.
Best of luck. -
I use my camera for video and photos. When I download my videos to my ipad1 using the camera connection kit, they will not play.
Does anyone know how I can make this work?Yvonne-
I haven't tried videos on my camera yet. Do you use the Videos App to play them? I don't think they will play in the Photos App.
If yours are in a format that is not in Vazandrew's list, you may need to sync them to your computer and convert them to M4V or MP4 format. You can use a program like HandBrake to do the conversion. <HandBrake> Once converted, you can sync them back to the iPad and they should play.
This may not meet your needs, but the alternative appears to be getting a different camera. I don't know of another Video App that might work.
