hi,
for forms and reports purpose you can download standalone oracle forms and reports (version 10.1.2.0.2) component.
If you want to upgrade it you can upgrade it to 10.1.2.3.0.

i'll recommend you to use oracle fusion middleware 11g forms, reports,portal and discoverer component.

Unable to get 10g application server control page

Need Urget help

Operating system windows 2003 with sp1
Application server 10g-- v 10.1.2.0.2
I have installed both 10g application server infrastructure and middle tire sucessfully on the machine with all the components sucessfully installed without any component failure or error.
i can access welcome page on
http://localhost:7777 or
http://hostname.domainname:7777
sucessfully but when i try to login to application server control from welcome page
it directs me to http://hostname.domainname:18100 but doesnot display any page
no error just blank page with status done at status bar.
-- but i can access server control page using
http://hostname.domainname:18100/emd/console
login sucessfully after entering username and paswword
but why i can not access it just by specifiying
http://hostname.domainname:18100 also when i try to start or stop any components no response after pressing stop/start/restart button available.
-- same problem with
http://localhost:7778/forms/frmservlet no button shows any response or any error on configuration or on any other components web page.
i checked all almost every thing
all services or running sucessfully
plz i need ur help.

I saw this on another windows machine as well. I believe that the port should be 1800 and not 18100. Look into the emd.properties and check if they are configured correctly.

Oracle 10g Database Server or Oracle 10g Application Server

Greetings and Salutations!
I need to install APEX 3.01 for development purposes and I'm wondering if I need to do an Oracle 10g Database Server installation, an Oracle 10g Application Server installation, and then the APEX 3.01 installation, or is there another way such as an Oracle 10g Application Server installation and then the APEX 3.01 installation.
I'm confused and I need advice.

Apex software runs inside the database using the database's PL/SQL engine.
Apex software is accessed via HTTP requests that may be sent to an HTTP server as included on the database 'companion CD' or in the Application Server.

U can set the following lines in httpd.conf of Forms/Midtier:
KeepAlive Off
Timeout 600
U need to update new config by command:
<ORACLE_HOME>/dcm/bin/dcmctl updateConfig -ct ohs
And re-start the Apache by command:
<ORACLE_HOME>/opmn/bin/opmnctl restartprocess process-type=HTTP_Server

Urgent: problem running reports in Oracle 10g application server

Hi all,
our problem is that we deployed a jsp report as Ear file in Oracle 10g application server in infrastructure node.deployment says successfull.when we try to run that report it says 401 unauthorised.while sending request we are passing the database username,password &sid is this correct or any configuration setting to be done to make it run.
one morething normal jsp works fine.when we run reports jsp it gives the above mentioned 401 error.

when you deploy reports JSPs they still require the reports specific componentes (e.g. TLD file, classes, ...) etc be available. i doubt that's the case in your ear file.

Its the database connection you want to track. The session audit will show where it came from.
Auditing is turned using this command:

Note: The use of spfile will require a DB bounce before audit starts

i have bin struggling to install the 9i or 10g application server because i want to teach oracle portals. please can some 1 teach me or giv me the step by step to installing the application server , then installing oracle portals. i rili am in nid of all d information . thanks

As far as installing Application Server (contains Oracle Portal) goes, I suggest using the installation guides for your platform. These are available on the Application Server documentation library page on OTN at http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/appserver101202.html.
For information about Oracle Portal, please refer to the Portal center on OTN at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/index.html.

Does 10g application server 10.1.2.0.2 work for 9i database?

I have installed 9i database on UNIX. then I am trying to install 10 application server 10.1.2.0.2. But somehow it force me to install a complete 10g database, which is undesireable for me. So I just wonder whether 10g application server can work for 9i database? If it works, how to install 10g app server with 9i database?

The 10g database installed by the 10.1.2.0.2 application server is used by it as a metadata repository for configuration and also as an LDAP server for the Oracle Internet Directory.
What components of the application server do you need? If all you want is Forms and Reports services, there is a standalone version that does not install the 10g infrastructure database.

i have installed oracle 10g application server 10.1.2.0.2 with infrastructure and forms & report.
now i downloaded the patch 10.1.2.3 to apply on it.
I have two homes in my application 10g server (infra and forms&report).
should first i apply apply patch on infrastructure and than on forms & report home.
am i correct.? can you please give me procedure how to apply the patch on 10g application server 10.1.2.0.2.

I want to know the benifits of oracle 10g(Application Server) as compare to Developer 6i.Actually we are using an application built on forms6i & reports6i with Oracle 9i database.We want to convert that application on Oracle 10g(Application Server).For this we will give a presentation to our managment shows the benifits of new tech. over previous tech. which we are using.

There can be various factors to be considered. I'll list some of them, from my experience :
- End user point of view : if current architecture is Client/Server, and depending on geographic Clients distribution, there could be a quite sensitive performance enhancement. This is not a general tip, it depends on some factors, but we often noticed such an enhancement passing from Client/Server to Web architecture.
- Technical point of view :
-- if current architecture is C/S, then you won't need Forms runtime anymore on each Client, just a browser. Moreover, if you don't use a centralized file server, now you have to update each Client for software management.
-- if current architecture is Web, then 10g is much easier to install and configure, especially if using standalone version Forms and Reports services, and more flexible and powerful.
-- your version is already desupported, and assuming we are speaking of production environment, this could be a problem.

Having a problem accessing OEM 10g application server control console!

Hi everyone,
I just installed AS 10g (10.1.2.0.2) Forms and Reports Services Standalone on a Windows 2003 machine. The installation went fine, the instance was created successfully.
I started all the services, when i try to access EM :
http://fms-as.mathtechinc.com:18100. I get a blank screen.
I can get to the AS welcome screen by using http://fms-as.mathtechinc.com:80, but when I click on the link to log on to Oracle Enterprise Manger 10g Application Server Control. I still get a blank screen.
I checked the port numbers in port.ist.ini and the port for
application server control port =18100.
I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

Thanks Jacco... now It is asking for the user name: and password. I do not remember assigning a user name. When I installed the AS, I created an
instance name and isa_admin password.
I tried to use the instance name as the username it was not accepted.

How to deploy dicoverer repport to 10g Application server

We just installed 10g Application server, but we don't know how to deploy discoverer reports th it? Please help.

Yes I am trying to accomplish the same thing. We created a 10g Apps Server but only loaded the Forms and Reports Services. We have a license for Discoverer 904 and install software for client desktops, but would like to use the Apps Server version.
Can I integrate DiscovererAS into my existing server without haveing to install the complete EE ???? ANd for that matter, if I do have to go that route, how do I uninstall the "Bare bones" FormsReportsServices10g ??? I'm a complete newbie so please bear with me... thanks

Oracle 10g Application Server Stand By Creation

Hi all ,
I am newbe for oracle 10g application server . I need to know that how to create stand by applicattion server and how to make the report server name same as production server so that in case of emergency i can quickly shift on stand by.

What we did was build the second server and powered it down. If our main data server loses power we start it up. The two servers are never up at the same time.
To change the report name :
1. Backup the file $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/emd/targets.xml.
[oracle@tasias02 emd]$ pwd
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/sysman/emd
cp targets.xml targets.xmlbackup
2. Modify the file targets.xml by changing all the occurrences of the wrong reports server name by the correct one.
i.e. Replace rep_old with rep_new (4 places - changes)
Copy the conf file as follows: ( this will named different from system to system )
cp /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/conf/rep_old.conf /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/conf/rep_new.conf
run this script:
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/addNewServerTarget.sh rep_new (change rep_new to new report server name)
3.Update the changed configuration .
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/dcm/bin/dcmctl updateconfig -ct opmn -v -d
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/dcm/bin/dcmctl resyncinstance -v -d
4. Restart the Application Server Control Console
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/emctl stop iasconsole
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/emctl start iasconsole
In the file:
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/config/reportsConfig.properties
Change the Reports_Server_Name setting from "rep_old" to "rep_new" (change rep_new to new report server name)

FRM 92100 when a new .fmx is createed on the Oracle 10g Application Server

On the 10g Application Server, on Redhat Linux, whenever a form is complied and a new .fmx is created. If a user is logged on to the application server, he is kicked out of the application server with a FRM92100 error(your connection to the network has been disconnected).
This does not happen on the 6i application server we have.
Is there a environment variable we can set, which would take care of this and get the new form only when the user exits out of the form.

I've had this happen also but I think it did the same in 6i. If you are in the form that is being compiled then you're kicked out of the application. I thought it was normal and ignored it.
