10G Confirmation Of Exam Passes Needed For OCA Then OCP

Hello
Apologies if this has been asked in another thread.
In order to be allowed to gain 10G OCP do I need to pass these exams in the following order:
1Z0-042 and one of these(1Z0-007, 1Z0-047, 1Z0-051) to gain OCA first and then 1Z0-043(plus course).
I have passed 1Z0-042 and I was wanting to study for 1Z0-043 next. I have been told that before I can sit 1Z0-043 I would need to complete one of these first(1Z0-007, 1Z0-047, 1Z0-051).
Please confirm the right course of action for me.
Thanks

ThanksYou can take the exams in whatever order you like. So if you want to do 1z0-043 then (1z0-007/047/051) as you seem to want to do you can.
So you appear to have been told misinformation ..... however .....
0) If you passed 1z0-042 a very long time ago, dec 2008 from memory, you dont have to do an SQL exam. Certview will show your exemption if you are exempt. And you will already be an 10g DBA OCA.
1) It is IMHO probably far far more sensible to do 1z0-051 or 1z0-007 before continuing with 1z0-043.
--- This is because passing a the SQL will gain you (with you 1z0-042 pass) an 10g DBA OCA. .... and also because good SQL will help with your Oracle Practice and with your OCP study.
--- (An exeption might be if yu just attended a hands on course and wished to study to take the 1z0-043 exam as soon as possilbe after the course).
Important thought is for you to have planned to attend an appropriate Hands on course for your 10g DBA OCP ... its time to think about that if your haven't already.

  • Do i need MySQL OCA before OCP?

At http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=458&get_params=p_track_id:MDEV i see that i should pass 2 exams, for Oracle Certified Professional, MySQL 5 Developer. But prior to this, do i need to pass OCA? Now (as with the new interface of Oracle certification site), I did not see anywhere this.
And at this page http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=141 , why we cannot see all certifications, as earlier? Now it gives me the "Oracle Certification - Finder", but prior to this it was possible to see all certifications, in a table.
    Thanks

    Hi.
You don't need MySQL OCA in order to become an Oracle Certified Professional, MySQL 5 Developer (or Oracle Certified Professional, MySQL 5 Database Administrator).
Oracle Certification Finder seems to be a new method for finding certifications based on Job Roles and Product Areas. After years using the old layout I'm still trying to get used to it. I liked the way they put certification paths and upgrade paths togheter though.

  • Please Advice  me which Exam to choose for  OCA

Which of the below exam shall i choose for certification which is important and good for my career.
    1Z0-001
Introduction to Oracle: SQL® and PL/SQL™
    or
    1Z0-007
    Introduction to Oracle9i SQL®
    or
    1Z0-047
    Oracle Database SQL Expert
    or
    1Z0-051
    Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals
    Thanks in Advance

Improving SQL skills will often be a good thing for a large range of people.
Checkout [www.oracle.com/education/certification] and particularly 'View all certification' to help you choose.
Also Drill down from the that link for exam topics, training and authorized practice exams.
A better way of choosing the question is what set of skills would do I think I can and would like to master,
Where do I think these skills will help me in a career,
What training will I need to master those skills,
And what certification will should that I have mastered them.
If you have already a little/experience I suggest 1z0-047 for Oracle Database: SQL Certified Expert* perhaps ought to be exam of choice, as this ought to be useful for the widest range of jobs. However I might actually suggest going for 1z0-051 first as a possibly easier target stepping stone. Incidently I have not taken 1z0-047 myself.
    1Z0-001
Introduction to Oracle: SQL® and PL/SQL™This exam is about to be retired and is therefore probably bad choice.
    1Z0-047
Oracle Database SQL ExpertCannot be taken online, perhaps a good thing. May lead to an OCE certification. May be harder to study for and marginally more expensive
    1Z0-007
    Introduction to Oracle9i SQL®
    1Z0-051
Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals 1Both can be taken online and are adequate component of a number of certifications. 11g is obviously more up to date. Both, I believe, are not subject to a 14 day retake if you fail.
The osbourne/oracle press ISBN-13: 978-0071597869: OCA Oracle Database 11g SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide: Exam 1Z0-051 (Osborne Oracle Press Series) does a good job of covering 1z0-051 if your starting with some experience of SQL but I suggest you should suppliment that with quality (eg Oracle) training if necessary

  • Exams to choose for OCA

plz help me to choose the right certification path which make me learn new topics and even boost my career.
    For Level 1: IZ0-047 or IZ0-051.
    For level 2: IZ0-144 or IZ0-147.
    For level 3:only 1 choice IZ0-146.
i even need suggestions on combinations....
    IZ0-047+IZ0-147 ?? or IZ0-051+IZ0-144
    Thanks in advance..

Thanks in advance..1z0-147 is an old exam and IMHO has a poor choice of subjects and is out of date and is targeted somewhat at PL/SQL use within forms. 1z0-144 is a more modern exam targetted an more modern PL/SQL needs.
Between 1z0-051 and 1z0-047 the choice is different. 1z0-051 is an 'easier' and less advanced exam than 1z0-047, therefore you should be able to get up to speed and pass it much easier. However you will learn some useful SQL techniques studying to pass 1z0-047. For 1z0-047 you get the SQL OCE certificate as well.
Perhaps a good choice, if you have the money, is to take 1z0-051 first and then 1z0-047 if you feel like it, perhaps after you have your PL/SQL OCP.
    But the choice is yours.
If you start studying for 1z0-051, and find it too easy, consider switching to study for 1z0-047. The topics on 1z0-047 are are superset of 1z0-051's (Though 1z0-051 might not go into so much detail on some areas of 1z0-051).

  • OCA and OCP Post-nominal letters

    Hi All,
I recently passed OCA and OCP for Java 7.  I was wondering if there is an official industry accepted standard to place these qualifications after your name.
I saw Bert Bates, co-author of the Java 7 study guide, placed:
    Bert Bates OCA OCP.
Is this convention authorised by Oracle or do we have to specify the product and version that the certification was given to.  If the latter is the case, what would be the official post-nominal letters for OCA and OCP for Java 7.
    Thanks.

There is no defined standard that I am aware of for that.  Certainly none shows in Certview or is easily locatable in the FAQ.
There are standards for displaying the logos -- mainly about the size and color:

  • Oracle 10g  OCA  exams pass question

Please does anyone know any website where oracle 10g pass exam are posted for free or if anyone has got some pass exams could you post them please.
    Thanks in advance

You only wanted to pass OCA certifiation by getting dump of questions.
It would be more worthy that you make practice and once you are confident with the subject, then appear for exam, dont simply depend on dummy question to pass OCA. Believe me, this is worthless.
Hint: search at yahoo groups for ocpfree.

  • Exams to take for DB 11g OCA

I'm still new to Oracle. In fact I''ve just been hired to handle Oracle E-Business Suite along with the Oracle Database 10g. I'm quite interested in taking certification in 11g OCA. And maybe OCP in the next 2-3 years. I read the prereq for OCA is 1Z0-051 - SQL Fundamentals 1 for 11g and 1Z0-052 - DB Admin I. I'm quite confident with my SQL syntax since I've been working with SQL for 2.5 years in my previous employment. So I'm thinking about taking the SQL Fundamentals I first, then take training for 1Z0-052, practice DB Admin for a year then taking the 1Z0-052 exam.
    1. Is this doable?
    2. Is it possible that in one year period, the prereq for 11g OCA could change? (the prereq exams for 11g OCA is changed to 1Z0-047 - SQL Expert + 1Z0-052) and thus renderring my 1Z0-051 exam worthless?
    3. Where can I download Self test for exam preparation? Free would be preferrable, because the test I found cost about US99. I'm assuming this is allowed because I read many threads that's asking basically the same thing and are considered cheating.
    Thanks.

I dont think the pre-req for 11g OCA wil change again.

I just replied back to it.
I admit i have to be little most descriptive than what i have written.
Most important is that instead of mentioning something about nation like India you should directly talk to me in a technical way.
There are time in this forum when such mistake happens but it should be solved technically.Nothing wrong in accepting critics of something you have done wrong.
( I have nothing against India, the problem occurs elsewhere as well).I saw that but better not start the discussion in that way :-)The problem is that when talking about unqualified 'OCP' or 'OCA' there is a big possibility of mixing up certification and exam entities.
A certification is a certification and an exam is an exam (or perhaps a pseudo-exam like a course verification).
In addition there is not just one 'OCP' certification ... there are many OCP certifications ... MySQL, Solaris, PL/SQL, Java although generally by default when omitted the context is for a DBA certification.
It is also important to note typically exams can be taken in any order, however certifications will not be issued until prerequisites are met.
( Possible exception on some special cases : OCM exams and those involving Java written assigments where there may be some form of order).
So when I come to the statement:
As mentioned above for OCP you have to give OCA.
I judge that to be incorrect.
.... and I judge that because I have read it as "Before you give the OCP (1z0-043/053) exam you give the OCA exam (1z0-042/1z0-052) ... which is not true.
However ... given the OP has mentioned he in on DBA track .. and if I read it as 'To gain the (DBA) OCP certification one must have the (DBA) OCA certification as a pre-requisite' there is no problem with the statement .... as the graphic in your earlier post shows.
Without further analysis ... which may help my case or dig me into a whole on this occasion .... i had simply better apologise as I certainly did not appreciate full context when composing my answer ... I thought I had but I review I had not.
In simple terms for original poster targeting 10g DBA exams .... best practice is to study and take 1z0-042 first and also be aware and plan how you will get your required DBA Training if you are looking to get OCP certification.

  • What oracle 10g version to download for OCA?

    Hi
Just want to know which version of oracle to download for practicing for my OCA.
    Oracle express 10g version or
Oracle Database 10g Release 2 - Enterprise/Standard Edition for Microsoft Windows
    Thanks

Sure, there's version and edition details, but for a first-level exam there should not be a problem if you know the basics well (i.e. Concepts guide).
Other than having the documentation always nearby, I suggest you use the Exam Topics for 1Z0-042 as a checklist. You can find it from the certification program page.

  • Using common exam to achieve certification for OCA ( Developer + DBA )

    Hi,
i have given a Oracle 9i : Introduction to Oracle 9i ( 1Z0-007) exam which is one of the two mandatory exams for OCA ( Developer ) . So my questions is .. once i complete my OCA ( Developer ) can i directly give (1Z0-031) to get an OCA (Dba) Certification or i would have to give the exam again ?
    Thanx,
    Abhishek

The exam (1z0-007) is a prerequisite exam for OCA (Developer or DBA Track). In your case, you have already passed the 1z0-007 exam, so you are very much eligible for writing the exam (1z0-031) without taking the exam (1z0-007) again to fulfill the prerequisite for the OCA – DBA track exams. Moreover, candidates may not retake a passed exam at any time. But, while registering for 1z0-031 exam, you have to show your passing details of the exam 1z0-007 to the parametric center.
    Best of luck.
