  • 10g DBA OCP apparently available under WDP

I had not realised DBA 10g was available under WDP (workforce) however this post {thread:id=1029756} indicated that it is.
This post seems to confirm it: [https://workforce.oracle.com/wdp_curr.html] (I can only access this page via google, not from the workforce web site, at least in the UK). This page indicates last updated in 2007.
I have previously, on many occasions, indicated I believe only 9i DBA OCP was available under Workforce Development program. This was apparently incorrect, though no-one seems to have bothered to correct me.
Obviously WDP 10g DBA OCP training is probably extremely cost effective compared to an Oracle University Course for those who it suits.
This also may be why some WDP 9i DBA OCA appear to be discontinuing (this is effectively from indirect posts from some institutions).
I think I have also said in previous posts my thought was the cessation of WDP 9i DBA courses would be a necessary pre-requiresite to the retirement of 9i DBA OCA related exams.
My apologies if I have misled people.

It will better to continue 9i certification and then upgrade to 10i in your present situation.
as for as concern you says that
Release Notes, Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise Edition for Apple Mac OS X Version 10.2 Jaguar is strictly a developer release, and does not support database options such as Real Application Clusters, JavaVM, and other "advanced database features."
I think it will support the database option. Oracle experts can give better answer this.

    2. can i find out from Oracle that my SQL/PLsql passed in oracle 7 OCP was 1Z0-001?
    3. Can I take 1Z0-043 first since I took the class and plan to study 1Z0-042 on my own?
    4. How many questions and the duration for the exam 1Z0-043 exactly? Oracle site indicated 92 questions form 90 minutes (it was 120 minutes last year), which is pretty short time for a person whose major language is not english.

  • 9i DBA OCP certification possible on OS X 10.2.x Jaguar?

Has anybody successfully completed the 9i DBA OCP certification using Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise Edition for Apple Mac OS X Version 10.2 Jaguar ( see http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/htdocs/devlic.html?http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/oracle9i/htdocs/macsoft.html )?
According to the Release Notes, Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise Edition for Apple Mac OS X Version 10.2 Jaguar is strictly a developer release, and does not support database options such as Real Application Clusters, JavaVM, and other "advanced database features." In that case, is it sufficient for self-training for certification?
I use a PowerBook. I already passed Exam# 1Z0-007: Introduction to Oracle9i: SQL® ( see http://www.oracle.com/education/certification/objectives/7.html?_template=/ocom/ocom_item_templates/ocom_blank_template_with_site_cat ) on June 2, 2002, narrowly avoiding the Instructor-Led/Hands-On Course Requirement Deadline ( see http://www.oracle.com/education/certification/news/o9ionecourse_newdate.html ), and wish to avoid being required now to take an instructor-led course.
The requirements for the new 10g DBA OCP certification have, apparently, not yet been posted (I got an "Sorry, this page was not found (Error Document 404)" error message when I just clicked on the link "Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certified Professional (1 exam)" ( see http://www.oracle.com/education/certification/dba10g_ocp.html ) on the "Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certification Paths" page ( see http://www.oracle.com/education/certification/dba10g_track.html )). However, I am very concerned that they will include a new Instructor-Led/Hands-On Course Requirement Deadline, which I wish to avoid. I'd rather continue with my 9i DBA OCP certification, and then upgrade to 10g.
    Does anybody have any suggestions?

  • Can I attend Oracle 10g DBA course & attempt DBA Certification for 11g

    Hi,
I am already OCP-PLSQL and want to attempt OCP-DBA stream. I enquired at various oracle education centers and came to know that all are conducting courses for Oracle-10g.
So can I attend Oracle 10g DBA course (Mandatory Course) and attempt DBA Certification for 11g. (1ZO-052 and 1ZO-053)
    Thanks,

    Thanks,
Vikrant PatilYou can do these thing, and Oracle will take your money for it, but you will receive neither 11g DBA OCP certication nor 10g DBA OCP Certification at the end of it. So it isnt what you would ant to do.
Oracle Unviersity would provide the 11g DBA training courses ... No problem.
however I suspect what you term oracle education centers are probaby institutes offering WDP Courses at 10g DBA (on the cheap). See http://workforce.oracle.com
If you do 10g training then that will only be valid for 10g DBA OCP Certification .. so you would need to take 1z0-042 and 1z0-043 (I guess you already have an SQL Exam pass). Then 1z0-050 can upgrade it to 11g DBA OCP.
(Note that it does not affect you, but the converse is typically true .... version X+1 training will often be acceptable for a version X certification.)

  • Oracle 10g dba...

i have cleared sql and pl/sql module in oracle 9i and became OCA.now i want to get OCP. if i do oracle 10g workshop 1 and workshop 2 for OCP(10g).does this combination compatible to be an OCP in ORACLE 10g.

If you hold a 9i DBA OCA, you will need to go on to obtain your 9i DBA OCP. You cannot go directly from 9i DBA OCA to 10g DBA OCP.
Option 1 (in no particular order):
    - Already holds 9i DBA OCA (please check your account at certview.oracle.com to confirm that you hold this certification)
    - Pass exam 1Z0-032
    - Pass exam 1Z0-033
    - Complete one of the approved training classes for 9i DBA OCP (http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=244#1)
    - Submit the Course Submission Form at www.pearsonvue.com/oracle to provide your course details for verification
This will get you to 9i DBA OCP
    - Pass exam 1Z0-040 to upgrade from 9i DBA OCP to 10g DBA OCP
Option 2: If you don't want to pursue 9i DBA OCP and want to go directly to 10g DBA OCP, you'll need to follow the path below:
    - Pass one of the following 3 exams: 1Z0-007, 1Z0-051, 1Z0-047
    - Pass exam 1Z0-042
This will get you to 10g DBA OCA
    - Pass exam 043
    - Complete one of the approved training classes for 10g DBA OCP (http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=244#3)

  • Oracle 10g OCA/OCP - There is a one-way path?

    Hello.
I' m planning to undergo the 1z0-042/1z0-043 exams.
1)Following the suggested path I have to undergo FIRST one of the [1z0-007, 1z0-47,1z0-51] exams and THEN the 1z0-042 to obtain OCA.
Is it possible in the other way? (FIRST 1z0-042 and THEN one of the [1z0-007, 1z0-47,1z0-51]
2)In the same way,is it possible after OCA, FIRST get through the 1z0-043 exam and THEN follow and complete [One of the instructor-led online o in-class courses] and Complete the course submission form to obtain OCP?
3)Is possible to undergo FIRST 1z0-042 THEN 1z0-043 and AFTER the 1z0-047 + follow and complete [One of the instructor-led online o in-class courses] and Complete the course submission form to obtain OCP?
The components are the same. What differs is the order.
    Thanks

Paolo FilippiGenerally you can do any exams/courses you like in whatever order you like (There are exceptions ... i think certain Jaa certifications have certain order pre-requisites ... usually arround written assignments).
HOWEVER, you will not recieve any certifications until you meet all the pre-requisites for that certiication:
Thus if you first pass 1z0-043 .... you will receive no certifications as you have not fulfilled all prerequsites for any certification.
If you thn passed 1z0-042 .... you will still receive no certifications as you have still not fulfilled all pre-requsites for any certification.
If you then attended an accreditted course satisifiying the 10 DBA OCP and then submitted and had it validated you will still receive no certifications as you have still not fulfilled all pre-requsites for any certification.
If you then passed 1z0-047 would at that receive the following certifications close to simulataneously as you have fulfiled pre-requisites
:: SQL OCE, 10g DBA OCA, 10g DBA OCP. (The 10g DBA OCA is sort of irrelevant at this point).
    Conversely Steve Zodiac:
    - Passed 1z0-047 and was awarded SQL OCE as he had fulfilled all pre-requisites
    - Passed 1z0-042 and was awarded 10g DBA OCA as he had fulfilled all pre-requisites
-- Attended a course relevant to 10g DBA OCP and got it validated.
    - Passed 1z0-043 and was awarded 10g DBA OCA as he had fulfilled all pre-requisites
:: The difference will Seve Zodiac is he got interim certification awards quicker.
Incidently i recommend people study for 1z0-051 rather than taking 1z0-047 directly as the latter is mor difficult ( And specially if anyne has attempted to put the SQL exam last ;) )
The exam order 1z0-051 - 1z0-042 and 1z0-043 should certainly be preferable for most people, but there are exceptions.

  • 10g DBA Certification Question

Back in August 2008, I passed the 2 DBA Certification Tests but as part of receiving the OCP certificate, I had to take one more course. Well, I never found a time to be able to take the course to receive the OCP credential. I was wondering if I can still take one of the approved courses and receive the OCP credential still. If so, I will take it this fall.
I have the OCA credential when I passed the first test. I passed the 2nd test a couple months later. I just never found time to take the class so, I'm hoping I can still do this and receive the credential.
    Any feedback is appreciated.

ChrisYou may choose a course off of the course list for 10g DBA OCP ..... if these are becoming rare an equivalent 11g DBA may be accepted instead ... check first if you think you have specific case (but not vice versa for those seeking 11g DBA OCP a 10g course would not do).
You have until the certification expires to submit a course and get it verified.

Muhammad AliOkay I've haven't done 1z0-045 ... but I at one point I was considering 1z0-050 so I'm willing to share my views on an upgrade exam and exams in general.
Remember Oracle are trying to ensure that a DBA who was tested at 8i DBA OCP has nw
It depends on your definition of read the topics. If you mean literally just read the topics then that will result in a failure. If you mean study research practice and fully understand the topics that should lead to a pass.
Bear in mind that Oracle would expect a competent 8i DBA attending the 5 day training course Oracle Database 10g: New Features for Oracle8i DBAs [http://education.oracle.com/web_prod-plq-dad/plsql/show_desc.redirect?dc=D17389GC10&p_org_id=&lang=&source_call=] to be able pass the exam with perhaps 2 to 4 weeks further study, revision and practice.
Interestingly this particular exam has a relatively high pass mark (73%) ... one implication of that is that it is prudent to be comfortable with all topics.
Generally an upgrade exam will cover topics beyond that of the straight OCA/OCP exams. The questions will obviously be at OCP level.
It is possilble the Sybex book Oracle 10g New Features for Administrators Study Guide (Certification Study Guide) ISBN-13: 978-0782143553 which although for 1z0-040 may have some relevance for some of your topics. If you choose to purchase it that is your choice. (It seems to have good amazon reviews ... though all of these books can contain errors, it may or may not be updated for 10gR2, and some Sybex Oracle books are sometimes OTT in some areas IMHO, but that wouldn't stop me using one).

  • Should I go for Oracle 10g OCA/OCP or 11g OCA/OCP Certification?

    Hi all,
I am lil bit confuse to decide about my oracle core dba certification.
Please help me to know, as per the present requirements of the business organizations.
    ***Should I go for Oracle 10g OCA/OCP or 11g OCA/OCP Certification?***
Hope u guys answer me earliest.
    Thanks & Regards,

Most likely, it doesn't matter too much. I doubt that most employers are terribly concerned with what recent version of Oracle you have a certification on.
    That said, if it matters
    - What does your organization use? What are their plans to upgrade? If your company still uses 9.2 primarily and has plans to upgrade to 10.2 this year, you're probably better off with a 10g certification. If your company is already running mostly 11.2, you're probably better off with an 11g certification.
    - What do most employers in your particular part of the world tend to use? What do job postings in your particular part of the world generally list?

  • Guidance to become a Oracle 10g DBA

    Hai...
I m a lecturer in an Engineering college.I want to change my job as i m interested in DBA. So i have joined a course in Oracle 10g DBA through Oracle University, which will be starting on 25th june. Can anyone guide me how to go abt it, so dat i can prepare well for interviews n place myself in a gud company. Also plz let me knw which has gud scope,DBA or Data warehousing.

    Hi,
My list of Oracle DBA job skills include the following:
Excellent communication skills - The Oracle professional is the central technical guru for the Oracle shop. He or she must be able to explain Oracle concepts clearly to all developers and programmers accessing the Oracle database. In many shops, the Oracle DBA is also a manager and is required to have excellent communication skills for participating in strategic planning and database architectural reviews.
Formal education – Many employers require Oracle professionals to have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems. For advanced positions such as an Oracle DBA, many employers prefer a master’s degree in computer science or a master’s in business administration (MBA).
Real-world experience - This requirement is the catch-22 for newbie’s who possess only an OCP certificate. A common complaint of people who have OCP certificates but no job experience is that they cannot get experience without the OCP, and they cannot get a job without experience. This is especially true in a tight job market.
Knowledge of database theory - In addition to mastering the technical details required for the OCP exams, the successful Oracle professional must have an understanding of database and data warehouse design. This includes intimate knowledge of data normalization theory and knowledge of star schema design, as well as object-oriented modeling with Unified Modeling Language (UML) and knowledge of other database design methodologies such as CORBA and J2EE.
Here is my list of DBA job skills:

Here are notes on becoming a DBA:

  • Online 10g DBA Exam

    Hi,
I don't know where to post the message. If someone know right place, please let me know.
I am wondering anyone took Online 10g DBA Exam #1Z0-041. Does Oracle will issue OCA certificate upon passing exam? And what is lost of the exam. Thank you for the help.
    Here is information from Oracle:
Newcomers familiar with Oracle Database 10g may wish to assess their knowledge by attempting the online Oracle Database 10g 2 Day DBA online assessment (optional). Upon passing the assessment candidates will be provided with a link to a printable completion certificate from Oracle University.
    http://www.oracle.com/education/certification/dba10g_oca.html

I have the 9i OCP certification. But from the note you have on this it does NOT sould like you would get a OCA certification from it. For 9i OCA, was 1 test online and 1 more test at a testing facility. You should go to the Oracle site and look at the ceritfication requirements.

    Hello all
I have passed in OCA exam (1z0-052) and now i`m looking forward to OCP exam (1z0-053), but I still have not complete any required course.
    My question is:
Should I complete ADM Workshop II course only? Can i complete any other courses like RAC & Grid or DataGuard instead of ADM WORKSHOP II to get OCP?
The ADM Workshop II course is the only accepted for OCP?

tksTo obtain the 11g DBA OCP certification the 11g DBA OCA will need to pass 1z0-053 and get verified they have completed one of the approved courses.
This can be done in any order; you can pass the exam first or take the training first, whichever suits better.
If you are taking a training course directly associated with 1z0-053 (eg ADM Workshop II) then it seems more obvious to taike the training first.
If however you elect to use training such as RAC/GRID or datagard which suggests a candidate is of DBA OCP standard then taking the exam first and training second seems more sensible.
( In essence one should not attempt a training course where one does not essenitally have the knowledge/experience given in the prequisites .... ( For example an 11g DBA OCA with minimal practical experience (and without an 1z0-053) should not attempt the RAC course ).
