10g documentation

Back to forms after a long absence. Is there a 10g developer's manual available and, if so, where? Starting at the 10g forms home page it appears to lead me back to 9 developers guide dated some time in 2002. is this really the most current diocumentation available?
thanks

The best documentation is still the online-help in forms-builder itself. The only online-docs i know of are here http://www.oracle.com/webapps/online-help/forms/10g/state?navSetId=_&navId=0 but i don't know the exact version it relies on.
hope this helps.

    Hi,

    Also, the file size of my downloaded file is 443.4 MB but the size mentioned on the download page is 445.8 MB
    I have twice tried to download the file but both times I get the same corrupt zip error. Can any one confirm the status of the file.

    I have reported the issue to the web team. I'll rattle the chains again.
    Some clarification, the FuseTalk forums run on the ColdFusion platform, but are not an Adobe product. It is like Photoshop. It runs on a Macintosh, but it isn't an Apple product. It runs on Windows, but isn't a Microsoft product.
    Most folks here know that I'm pretty neutral about comparing the two forums. But I recently had to run some reports on them and activity is about the same on both, with the Macromedia Forums being a little more busy than the Adobe ones. Most people are comfortable with the system they know. At the time of the Adobe/Macromedia merger there were a number of performance issues with the Macromedia Forums. Most of them have been addressed.
    There was only one attempt to move from WebCrossing to FuseTalk, and that never saw the light of day. It was back in August 2006 and the project got killed before anything happened. I don't know where the comment about ColdFusion product managers wanting to use that platform for all forums comes from, I've never heard that internally.
    In October 2007 we imported all of the data from the Macromedia forums into Web Crossing and did release it for two weeks and that didn't work out well (a big understatement). It was so bad that most people who went through it have suffered some sort of amnesia. They seem to recall that we were moving the other direction (WebX to Fusetalk). But that is not the case. All forums were running on Web Crossing during that experience.

  • Oracle 10g Documentation (still reflects HTMLDB 1.6)

    Hi Joel (since you usually catch this stuff),
    I was just on the documentation site at http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/master_index?letter=t and saw that it still reflects the ducumentation from HTMLDB 1.6 (look at the entries for Tabs).
    Not sure how or who you coordinate this with in the documentation site, but figured you'd want to know.
    Bill Ferguson

    Hi Arie,
    The site is supposed to have all of the current documention for everything 10gR2 related.
    Since Apex v3 is the current version, I'd think that it would contain the current Apex manual entries as well. All of the manuals that are linked to it are for whatever the current versions are of those products, PL/SQL, Spatial, Oracle Text, etc.
    It may be complicated by the fact that Apex is updated more frequently than other Oracle products, but I've always used the site to see/reference the current documentation (or syntax) of whatever Oracle product. For older versions, I'll go to tahiti.oracle.com which has links to previous versions of Oracle documentation.
    I've been to numerous Oracle classes over the years and the instructors always say to go to tahiti.oracle.com to get the link to the current version of all Oracle documentation, so I figured the link would also get the current version of Apex documentation as well.
    It's really useful tracking down the correct (and current) syntax, since it has all Oracle documentation indexed and linked for quick searching. I can't think of any examples right now, but I remember in the past seeing examples of different syntax usage across different Oracle products, probably new products.

  • Loading XML file using sql*loader (10g)

    Hi Everyone....
    I have a major problem. I have a 10g database and I need to use sql loader to load a large XML file into the database. This file contains records for many, many customers. This will be done several times and the number of records will vary. I want to use sql loader and load to a staging table, BUT SPLIT THE RECORDS OUT and add a sequence. I am having 2 problems.
    In the 10g documentation, when you want to split the records you use the BEGINDATA clause and indicate something (like a 0) for each instance of a record. Well my first file has 3,722 records in it. How do I know the number of records in each XML file?
    The second problem is that because this is XML, I thought that I could use ENCLOSED BY. But the start tag has an attribute /counter in it, sql*loader doesnt recognize the starting tag. (i.e.: start tag is: </CustomerRec number=1>
    end tag is: </CustomerRec> )
    So, I used TERMINATED BY '</CustomerRec>'. This will split out the records, but it will NOT include the ending tag of </CustomerRec> and when I use extract, I receive an XML parsing error.
    I have tried to get the ending tag using CONTINUEIF and SKIP. But those options are for "records" and not lines.
    Does anyone have any ideas for the 2 problems above. I am at my wits end and I need to finish this ASAP. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you!

    Sorry.... here is an example of what my control file looks like. At the end, I have 92 "0", but remember, I have 3722 records in this first file.
    LOAD DATA (SKIP 1)

  • Explain Plan for Materialized Views in 10g

    I am verifying explain plan for few queries on 10g as compared to 9i I was wondering in Materialized Views queries MAT_VIEW ACCESS instead of TABLE ACCESS is it expected behaviour or am missing something?
    Couldn't find information in 10g documentation
    thanks in advance

    I've put together a query for the v$sql_plan in 9iR2.
    Depending on what you use, you can probably drop some columns (eg OTHER and partition columns) and you could drive it from the v$session by getting the hash_value from there for the sid you are interested in :
    (select * from v$sql_plan where hash_value =
    (select sql_hash_value from v$session where sid=:sid))
    select level, optimizer, lpad('_',1*(level-1),'_')||operation operation,
    options, object_owner||'.'||object_name obj_name, search_columns,
    ltrim(to_char(cardinality,'999,999,999')) no_rows,
    ltrim(to_char(bytes/1024,'999,999')) kbytes, cost tot_cost,
    object_node link, id, parent_id, other_tag||':'||other other,
    partition_start, partition_stop, cpu_cost, io_cost,
    access_predicates, filter_predicates,
    round(temp_space/(1024*1024),2) temp_space_mb
    from (select * from v$sql_plan where hash_value = :hash_val)
    start with id=0
    connect by prior id = parent_id and prior child_number = child_number
    order by child_number, id, position;

  • Create a large XML extract from relational tables - 10g

    The Oracle 10g documentation recommends using the various SQL functions such as XMLAGG,XMLELEMENT or DBMS_XMLGEN under chapter "16 Generating XML Data from the Database" for generating a XML extract file. The DBMS_XMLDOM seems like a useful structured package to create a XML formatted extract. Any idea why Oracle does not recommend the use of XMLDOM API ? Are there performance issues or likely de-support ?
    Whats the best way to produce a large XML extract?
    Thanks.

    mdrake wrote:
    No reason not to use it. It just tends to require a lot more coding than the other methods. Underneath the covers they all map into the same code-line. In general, to generate a given XML document you wlll write far fewer lines of code using the SQL/XML operators. Less Code written = less code to maintan = faster time to market.Less code to parse...?

  • Compound layout in View selector possible in OBIEE 10g but not in OBIEE 11

    Hi!
    I am Claire. I have created 3 compound layout and I wanted it to be included in my view selector. I noticed that I is not possible in BI 11g but was previously possible in Bi 10G. Kindly help me on this matter. The compound layout is not appearing in the available views in the EDIT VIEW selector Page.
    Your Prompt response on this matter is highly appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Claire

    Claire,
    This is no longer possible. And actually in OBIEE 10g it was only possible in the Original Compound layout. Meaning that if you created compound layout #2 you could not leverage "Compound Layout" (the original / default one) inside of a view selector or as a view inside "Compound Layout #2".
    If you look at the OBI 10g documentation you will see that it states that a Compound Layout is a "view" which can contain other views.
    In the OBI 11g documentation it states that the Compound Layout is a container.

    This new nomenclature and definition is the delineating factor and the reason you can no longer achieve that functionality in the same way you did in 10g
    I hope that helps.
