I notice that Application Server 10g has been announced by Oracle, but I can't seem to find the link to download it from OTN. Can anyone help?

Hi Imran,
I you go to the 10g product page at http://otn.oracle.com/products/ias/content.html then select 'software' from the left hand side, you can get older (than release 2) versions at the bottom of the page. If you can find how to get 10g itself from this page, I'd appreciate you telling me!

Free Database 10g download Question????

Can anyone tell me if the "free" 10g download includes the spatial components of 10g. SDO_RELATE, NN, etc...... In addition, is SQL Loader included as well. Thank you very much for your time.

10g download zip problem

I have been able to download 10g (twice)..
But...the zip file(s) both have a bad CRC on database.dfb

Oracle Database Express Edition 10g Download Issue

Hi everyone. I just downloaded the freeware Oracle Database Express Edition without any apparent problems. However, when I attempt to go to the Express Edition Homepage, which is location http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex,
I get the message that my Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. (It can, however, display other pages.) I cannot understand why this is the case since I successfully added Web site 127.0.0.1 in my Control Panel (as specified in the instructions.) Also, the instructions stated that HTTP port 8080 was the default port, unless my system said that this was not available (which it did not.) I also tried rebooting, which did not make a difference. Help!

Help!There is a forum dedicated to Express Edition, in which we have discussed a lot of the variants in failure that causes this problem. At the top of the page you are reading, there should be links like "Forum Home » Database » Database - General". The middle one will get you to a list of all Oracle forums and after the first 5, the rest are alphabetical - XE is pretty far down that page.
(You might also note that there is an Installation forum next to this one. That might be better suited to the task than the 'catch-all' general forum.)
The most common issues are related to not preparing the operating system properly. For example, if you use a laptop you probably use DHCP to get a different address from the various sites you connect to. However, Oracle works as a server and depends on having a well known address. In fact, it tends to bind the IP address at install into it's configuration files. Therefore it is critical to use the loopback adapter in such situations.
Other issues are dependent on the actual OS into which you install. For example, Ubuntu (Linux) has very differnet install philosophy as Red Hat / Fedora, and requires a different install technique. Then again, on Windows, it is nearly impossible to install anything Oracle on a Windows 'Home' OS, and XE generally has not even been tested against Windows 7.
Other common reasons include anti-virus; firewall; not having appropriate operating system level permissions; in Windows - using a Domain-based userid instead of a local administrator; and just general finger issues.
Express is considerably different in the install behaviour and runtime behaviour. For example. it uses RPM and MSI instead of Oracle Universal Installer. It does not include Java in the database, which limits a lot of functionality. And it uses the built-in PL/SQL Web Gateway instead of any external HTTP server. As a result, it can be quite a shock to mmany of the regular inhabitants in this forum.
I strongly encourage reading the documentation for XE. In particular, reading the install doc. Start at http://tahiti.oracle.com and look for the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Express Edition documentation. (Just below the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 documentation.)

10g Download for standalone PC

I want to get to grips with the 10g Db and JDeveloper and therefore intend to do some research on my home PC to get an understanding of the products. I've got a couple of questions.
1. Will J2EE work with access directly to a DB on the same PC, no application server.
2. Which Db version should i download, the express version? Are all the downloads free, I will only be using it for my own research purposes. I will not be developing or running any live applications.

Yes you can try all Oracle versions for personal and "try" purposes. You can download them from http://otn.oracle.com
Why do not you start with:
Oracle 10g Express Edition and Oracle JDeveloper. With JDeveloper you do not need application server, it comes with a standalone J2EE server, just for development purpose.
If you need more you can try personal, standard or enterprise edition...you can install all of them on your laptop!!!!

10g download? SQLPlus, PL_SQL

Can someone send me some information for a complete download of the 10g on my computer?
I am taking a PL_SQL courses and have assignments.
However, I can get this 10g install on my computer.

It's part of the Oracle Client Software. You can either download the full client of the instant client (instant client is a smaller download and a simpler install but slightly reduced functionality).

We demoed JDeveloper 10g on stage at LinuxWorld as part of Chuck Rozwat's keynote there, so this notice does not mean that it does not WORK on other platforms.
This is purely a matter of QA resources. We have gone through significant testing of this preview release on the Windows platform, but have not had the bandwidth in time for OracleWorld to do an equivalent amount of testing on Linux, Sun, or other platforms.
It just means that you might find an odd platform issue due to JDK, Swing, or other related glitches that might not show up on Windows where we've done the most testing for the preview.

Problem Related Oracle 10G Download

I am using Linux Red hat and the Partitions are as below.
/ - 750 MB
/home - 3GB
/ usr - 9GB
when I am Downloading Oracle 10G to /usr partition it is always going to the / and shouts me there is no Disk space
How to down load it in /usr partition?

Your list shows "/", "/home", and "/ usr". If you are including the space in the filesystem path, the files will be placed in the root directory. Double-check your command to make sure that you are not inserting that space after the slash.

AIX 10G download corrupt?

When I download the 10G database .gz for AIX 5L and try to run gunzip on it I get an "unexpected end of file" error.
The same happens if I try to unzip it using winzip on Windows
I have tried a number of times and get the same result. Disk space is not an issue.
Is the file corrupt?. The downloaded file is NOT the same size as stated on the downloads page

A couple of questions:
Which browser do you use? Internet Explorer? If yes, do you have several logical drives, C:,D:? And do you download NOT to C:, because another location has more space?
If all this is correct, you could face a nasty problem: Even when you redirect a download to another drive, IE first downloads into a temporay file located on drive C: . WHEN there's not enough space on C: download aborts without an error message, it simply starts transfer of the (incomplete) file to the target destination.
That doesn't have to be the reason. In case of a slow connection, sometimes connection is closed by whatever (remote download server, your internet provider..).
Here it could be difficult to find a solution.
By the way, updates.oracle.com is for metalink patches, not for OTN basic software.

I am not able to download the Oracle 10g version for Linux. It's giving me some error and asking me to redo the entire download process with a new session.
Even after doing that it's still giving me the same error. Any suggestion/solution on this.

Vms 10g download - no installer?

There is no readme for installing vms download 10103. How is it installed? run [.install]runinstaller gives error
ERROR: Unable to convert from "UTF-8" to "ASCII" for NLS!
nls_lang set to "AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1" The 9205 installer will not work because there is no products.jar.
