10g EE setup for 64-bit OS

Hi All,
I am currently using the below given Oracle Exp. Edition.
Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Product
PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
"CORE     10.2.0.1.0     Production"
TNS for 32-bit Windows: Version 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.1.0 - ProductionNow I need to support Windows 7 64-bit OS. I cannot find the same version setup for 64-bit OS.
Can anyone provide me the link?
I appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Jignesh

Hello,
Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Product
...Now I need to support Windows 7 64-bit OS. I cannot find the same version setup for 64-bit OS.
Can anyone provide me the link? No, in fact, Oracle *10g XE* is not certified on Windows *7*. As previously posted in *10.2* only *10.2.0.5* is certified in this platform, but *10gXE* is in *10.2.0.1*.
To migrate from *10gXE* to *10.2.0.5* you'll need to download patchs from My Oracle Support, so you need to pay for a license.
So, I see 2 ways:
- 1. Take a SE1 (Standard Edition 1), the License is rather cheap. Then, all the patchs will be available.
- 2. Install Oracle *11.2 XE*.
Oracle *11.2 XE* is certified on Windows *7*. It's already available for *32 Bit* Windows platform in Beta release, but I've heard that the Production Release will be available for *64 Bit* Windows platform:
Re: What is the plan for 64-bit Windows?
You may try it:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/express-edition/11gxe-beta-download-302519.html
You'll find here the forum for Oracle *11.2 XE*:
Oracle Database 11g Express Edition Beta
Hope this help.

Firstly i am a new bee in databases especially Oracle DB.
I have received the .dmp file from my boss with info that its a Oracle 10g DB and how can we access it or use it.
So i decided to use Oracle 10g XE for this purpose by using the documentation only.
I got stuck as unable to find the Oracle 10g XE setup on Oracle website.
    I now have following queries:
    1) Weather my thinking is in write direction .
    2) How to get Oracle 10g XE setup.
    3) Will Oracle 11g XE setup which is now available on oracle website will be able to import .dmp file from Oracle 10g DB.
    4) How can i better myself with Oracle DB concepts to resolved the issue.

So you haven't even installed XE yet?  If so, then you are nowhere near being able to use the .dmp file.  First you have to have a working database, then you can use use the import utility to import the contents of the .dmp file into the working database.
The entire documentation library for all versions and products is located at tahiti.oracle.com.  Drill down to your product and version and you will be looking at the entire doc library for said product/version.  Including the Installation Guides.

Learning how to look things up in the documentation is time well spent investing in your career.  To that end, you should drop everything else you are doing and do the following:
    Go to tahiti.oracle.com.
Locate the link for your Oracle product and version, and click on it.
You are now at the entire documentation set for your selected Oracle product and version.
    BOOKMARK THAT LOCATION
Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what is available here. Take special note of the "books" and "search" tabs. Under the "books" tab (for 10.x) or the "Master Book List" link (for 11.x) you will find the complete documentation library.
Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what kind of documentation is available there by simply browsing the titles under the "Books" tab.
Open the Reference Manual and spend a few minutes looking through the table of contents to get familiar with what kind  of information is available there.
Do the same with the SQL Reference Manual.
Do the same with the Utilities manual.
You don't have to read the above in depth.  They are reference   manuals.  Just get familiar with what   is there to be  referenced. Ninety percent of the questions asked on this forum can be answered in less than 5 minutes by simply searching one of the above manuals.
Then set yourself a plan to dig deeper.
    - *Read a chapter a day from the Concepts Manual*.
    - Take a look in your alert log.  One of the first things listed at startup is the initialization parms with non-default values. Read up on each one of them (listed in your alert log) in the Reference Manual.
    - Take a look at your listener.ora, tnsnames.ora, and sqlnet.ora files. Go to the Network Administrators manual and read up on everything you see in those files.
    - *When you have finished reading the Concepts Manual, do it again*.

  • Oracle gateway for Oracle 10g DB on Windows 64 bit server

Is there any place that I can find Oracle dateway for Oracle 10g DB on Windows 64 bit server? I can only find Gateway for Oracle 11g on Windows 32 bit server. Please help me to identify this. Thanks.

    yingkuan:
Thanks a lot. The link tells the details. It seems that Oracle has not release Gateway for Oracle database 10.2.0.x on Windows 64 bit server. Probably they don't do it.
So under this circumstance, if I want to install Gateway (32 bit) on Oracle 10.2.0.3 DB on Windows 64 bit server for Teradata, I probably have to install Gateway software in another Oracle Home, then configure it right. Please give more advice on this. 32 bit Gateway will work for 64 bit database?

Consider taking a look at Oracle SQL Developer - a very good alternative to the toad.

  • Easy setup for capturing 12 bit Hi8 through a mini DV camera?

    Hi,
I have some old Hi8 tapes that are recorded in 12 bit audio. Unfortunately the easy setup for a converter doesn't seem to let you specify 12 bit audio, so I'm getting awful sync problems. I know I could record all the footage onto mini DV tapes, but is there an alternative? Is there any way of adding an easy setup that would do what I want?
    Mark
    Dual 2.5 GHz G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   FCE 3.5HD

If you just use the MiniDV camera in passthrough mode, it will work fine. The audio out of the Hi8 should be analog, which specifies no specific bit depth. So as long as you have your MiniDV set up to 16bit, that's what it will send to the computer.

  • I need help with proper DNS setup for 10.5.8 Server

I'm administering a 10.5.8 server that I sold and setup about a year ago. I'm experiencing issues with getting iCal server to be happy. All of the clients are running 10.5.8, but I'm running 10.6.1. I've heard from others that connecting iCal in 10.6 to a 10.5 iCal Server should be no problem.
I'm beginning to think that I have DNS issues. Probably because I'm not and never have been 100% certain how to set it up completely correctly. I used to be able to get Kerberos tickets, but now I can't. With the new "Ticket Viewer" in 10.6, it asks for two bits of information. First is "Identity" where I'm guessing I should put [email protected] and then password. When I do this I get an alert dialog that says "Kerberos Error -- cannot resolve network address for KDC in realm example.com"
The server is a Mac Pro tower with two Ethernet ports. En2 is connected directly to the Internet and has a static IP with a domain name assigned to it. We'll call it "example.com" for the purposes of the discussion. The En1 is connected to the network switch and has a static LAN IP of 192.168.1.250. All clients inside and outside are able to reach the server via domain name for WWW & AFP, no problem.
nslookup on the static IP address returns "example.com" and nslookup on "example.com" returns the correct static IP address. Open Directory is running and happy including Kerberos. The LDAP search base is "dc=example,dc=com". The LDAP search base is a concept I haven't quite grasped, so I'm just going to assume it's correct.
The domain name is hosted outside by a service provider that forwards all "example.com" requests to the server with the exception of mail.
In DNS, I have three "sections" that look like this:
    Name Type Value
    1.168.192.in-addr.arpa. Reverse Zone -
    192.168.1.250 Reverse Mapping example.com.
    000.000.00.in-addr.arpa. Reverse Zone -
    000.000.000.000 Reverse Mapping example.com.
    com. Primary Zone -
    mail.example.com. Alias mail.our-email-isp.com.
    example.com. Machine Multiple values
    www.example.com. Machine Multiple values
NOTE: the zeros aren't actually zeros, they are the static IP assigned to the server/domain
When I select the top element "1.168.192.in-addr.arpa." down below "Allows zone transfer" is NOT checked. Nameservers shows the zone as "1.168.192.in-addr.arpa." and the Nameserver Hostname as "ns.example.com."
When I select the next line down "192.168.1.250", Resolve 192.168.1.250 to: example.com.
When I select the "000.000.00.in-addr.arpa." element, it has the same settings -- nameservers "000.000.00.in-addr.arpa." and "ns.example.com."
When I select the next line down (our static IP), Resolve 000.000.000.000 to: example.com.
When I select "com." the admin email is populated with a valid email address, Allows zone transfer is NOT checked. In nameservers, Zone is "com." and Nameserver Hostname is "example.com." The mail exchangers are mail2.our-email-isp.com. priority 10 and mail.our-email-isp.com. and priority 20.
When I select the machine "example.com." it shows both the real-world static IP and the 192.168.1.250, same with "www.example.com.".
Am I doing something wrong with this setup? Should "com." be the primary zone or should that be "example.com." ???
I've been thinking about getting rid of the DNS entry for the 192.168.1.250 address altogether, but will the clients in the office suffer performance issues??? I do not think that the client workstations are configured to get DNS from the server anyway. Should the "www.example.com." record be a Machine record or should it be an alias record?
Any help you have to offer is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
In the meantime, I'm going to look around and see if I can understand "Allows zone transfer" and LDAP Search base a bit better.

Okay, I found a lovely article at the following address which I think helps me to clarify what I'm doing wrong. Despite that, I'd still like to have any feedback you have to offer.
    http://www.makemacwork.com/configure-internal-dns-1.htm
Also, when editing DNS entries, Server Admin likes to set the nameserver to "ns." -- whatever your domain is. Should I be overriding that and if so, replace it with what?

  • Office 2013 RMS Client Configuration - Your Machine is not setup for IRM

    Hi All,
I have successfully setup a test AD RMS farm but stuck at trying to configure Office 2013 to work with this. The farm configuration is as below
    DC: Windows 2003
AD RMS Server: Windows 2008/ SQL Server 2008 R2
Client: Windows 7 64 bit with Office 2013 32 bit, Domain Joined
Client is domain joined and SCP has been successfully registered ( I can see the SCP in AD RMS properties).
When I open word and select Protect Document -> Restrict Access, the only option is to Connect to RMS Server and get template, which eventually gives an error
Your Machine isn't setup for Information Rights Management (IRM). To set up IRM, sign in to office, open an existing IRM protected message or document, or contact your help desk.
Surprisingly, when I open a document protected by IRM (from a different machine), IRM is automatically configured for the user and starts working from that point. However any new domain user login into this client faces the same issue.
Can anyone help identify the required registry keys that need to be present for getting this working on the client.
    Thanks for your help

    Hi  Manoj,
To install Microsoft Deployment Agent, you must be a member of the Windows
Administrators security group on the computer where you will install it. You must also be a member of the

  • Setup for Discoverer to have multiple sessions opening in different browser

What is the setup for Discoverer or Windows 6 browser to have multiple discoverer sessions opening in different browser windows at the same time in Discoverer 10g Plus?
We have implemented Discoverer 10g Plus just to be used as an extract tool. We have some workbooks retrieving 200,000 or more rows from an Oracle database. It is taking 30 to 45 minutes to download. Some users are able to open multiple sessions in different browsers to download more then one worksheet at the time, but we have other users who get an error message that they can only open one session at the time. What is the setup to allow users to open more than one Discoverer session?

  • How to use Windows SIM to create answer files for 32-bit (x86) Windows 7 from a 64-bit (x86_64) Windows 7 PC?

So I'm having the old 32-bit/64-bit compatibility issues with Windows SIM. I have a Windows 7 64-bit PC (actually a virtual machine) that I intend to use to run Windows SIM and make answer files for 32-bit Windows 7 unattended installations.
I've installed the latest Windows ADK (the Win 8.1 one). When doing this there was no choice of download or prompt during installation regarding 32-bit or 64-bit architectures. Once installed the Windows Kits folder is under Program Files (x86), but imgmgr.exe
is a 64-bit executable. When I try and generate the catalog for a 32 bit install.wim, I get an error that 64-bit SIM cannot catalog 32-bit images.
Is there any way to install a version of Windows SIM on a 64-bit Windows 7 PC that can catalog 32-bit Windows 7 images?

    Hi,
I think the biggest problem is the architecture specific in answer file:
    <settings pass="specialize">
            <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State"

<SupportURL>[ REPLACE WITH SUPPORT WEBSITE ]</SupportURL>
    </OEMInformation>
            </component>
        </settings>
The answer file must include processor-specific components. The answer-file settings in the windowsPE configuration pass must match the architecture type of the preinstallation environment. The settings that apply to the Windows image must match the architecture
type of the image. For example, if you create an answer file that deploys 64-bit images from a 32-bit preinstallation environment, all components in the answer file for the windowsPE configuration pass must include the processor attribute type of x86. Settings
to be applied in the specialize, oobeSystem, or other configuration passes must include the processor attribute type of amd64.
