10g eval download results in bad file

After the third attempt to download an eval copy of 10g, the zip file cannot be opened, but fails with "Cannot open file, it does not appear to be a valid archive."
Other files, such as the "companion" download and work fine.

There's a terrible amount of rubbish in this thread.
while(myStream.read(buffer) != -1){ //this will give the pretest you need for the eof.
//your stuff.
} This is rubbish because the return value isn't stored, so you don't know how much data was returned if EOS didn't occur.
If you're getting reads of length 0... you must have a bug in your code. read() methods do not return zero except via NIO in non-blocking mode.
if you get 10 0's in a rowYou can't even get one 0 in a row, see above.
int read = inFromServer.read(buffer);
if (read == 0)And again. This cannot occur.
The correct way to download a file, or indeed copy any input stream, is as follows:
int count;
byte[] buffe r= new byte[8192]; // or more
while ((count = in.read(buffer)) > 0)
  out.write(buffer, 0, count);
out.close();
in.close();

  • File Download results with corrupted file. End of File problem

    Hello
    I am tring to make a download program. I am tring to download an exe file from internet. Lets say the file in this website
    http://www.oldversion.com/download/winrar154.exe
    The part that helps me downloading is here, which is encapsulated with a "while" statement at an upper layer. So that code is a loop
                                 byte buffer[];
                                 if (size - downloaded > MAX_BUFFER_SIZE) {
                                     buffer = new byte[MAX_BUFFER_SIZE];
                                 } else {
                                     buffer = new byte[size - downloaded];
                                 // Read from server into buffer.
                                 int read = inFromServer.read(buffer);
                                 if (read == -1)
                                     break;
                                 // Writing buffer to file below that partBut when there is no bytes left to download, it doesn't understand that end of file reached. The inFromServer.read method must return -1 whenever it reaches to an end of file, but in my code it continues looping within my "while" statement because it doesn't understand end of file has came, read becames 0 after there is no bytes left to download. It doesn't see that end of file is reached. And when download ends, the exe that I made is not working. By the way since this is my homework I am restricted to use many java classes like starts with http or url, so you don't need to suggest them. Here is my debug results for my integer read in the code: 1024 1024 1024 ....................... 512 0 0 0 0 0 ......, So till the end of the file it continues as 1024 which is my default buffer size, and at the end it continues as 0.
    I would be happy if you help me.

  • I downloaded a bad file. How do I get rid of it?

    I downloaded a program which was supposed to provide subtitles to un-subtitled torrents. It was a bad file since it has screwed up my computer. I mean in a way that it shows pop-up ads in places that should not have pop-up ads (for example, Facebook, Netflix, shopping sites, and anywhere else), sometimes an ad will pop up in another tab if I click on something unsuspecting, and it also turns un-linked words into links (but I haven't clicked on them ever). I've tried throwing away the program in the trash and I've even emptied my trash but it's done nothing. I figured looking for the files to the program and throwing them out will get rid of them. The thing is, I don't wanna throw out files that I need and I don't even know where to look for the files to the program to trash them. I'm not an expert in knowing what files this program has and what files my computer needs.
    I currently have the latest OS X (Mavericks) installed. I've known new OS X to erase old bad stuff and basically start fresh. Should I wait until Yosemite comes out to think about doing anything? Would a cleaning program even get rid of it? I've had it for 2 weeks and it's driving me nuts.

    There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
    You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
    Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
    Back up all data before proceeding.
    Step 1
    From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
    Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
    Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
    Step 2
    Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
    Right-click or control-click the line and select
              Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
    from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.vsearch.agent.plist" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
    Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/Jack.plist
    Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/Jack
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
    Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
    The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine item from mplayerx.org.
    This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow.
    You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the Internet criminal behind VSearch has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
    *If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
    from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • How to overwrite a log and bad file in external table in oracle 10g

    Hi,
    I have used external table in oracle 10g.whenever use select query in external table orace internally create one log file in specified directory,
    but this log file is growing.How can i overwrite the log file(old to replace with new).I need overwrite a log and bad file in external table.
    kindly give the solutions.
    By
    Siva

    I don't believe that is possible with the LOGFILE clause, but it may be with the BADFILE clause. Here is an excerpt from the documentation :
    The LOGFILE clause names the file that contains messages generated by the external tables utility while it was accessing data in the datafile. If a log file already exists by the same name, the access driver reopens that log file and appends new log information to the end. This is different from bad files and discard files, which overwrite any existing file. NOLOGFILE is used to prevent creation of a log file.
    If you specify LOGFILE, you must specify a filename or you will receive an error.
    If neither LOGFILE nor NOLOGFILE is specified, the default is to create a log file. The name of the file will be the table name followed by _%p and it will have an extension of .log.

    I am getting messages that I can't download and read .pdf files since I have the wrong Adobe reader. I know about their security disasters of course, but I downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader from the Adobe web site and I have other ,pdf file readers as well, and for some reason they won't work either. I have 5 computers running top end processors and RAM. By this I mean I have one, this one which I am using that has an AMD Phenom Black 3.2 Quad-core with 8 GBs of Corsair top DDR2 RAM, my other two AMD have either an Athlon II triple core with 4 GBs of DDR2 Corsair RAM, one with the Phenom X4 965 3.4 GHz Quad-core with 8 GBs of their best DDR2 RAM, and two Intels with the i7 920 Processors using the triple channel 1366 socket processors and one with 8 GBs of low latency DDR3 RAM and the other with 4 GBs of the same RAM. I am getting the message on this one, which has a fresh install of XP Pro X64 operating system, as do the other 4 as well. I have run Avast Business Pro Anti-virus on this one, which I am getting the message on with a single result which I deleted, and also both Spybot Search and Destroy, which came back clean as well as Malwarebytes Antimalware, which got a lot of tracing cookies now removed, and SuperAntiSpware which also found a few cookies also now deleted. Can you tell me what I need to do to get these files to show as .pdf files rather than as a clean blank page. One other issue is that I wish to know how to turn off my downloads so they are saved and Mozilla will give me the option of returning them instead of me losing them all together as it does now. Thanks for your assistance. If there is another Adobe reader I should download and install, could you provide me with the link to it? I appreciate your assistance here
    == When I download and try to read a .pdf file and when I am asked to turn off all Firefox files and if I do, I lose them since I need to know how to save them without rebooting my computer.

    Brilliant! Problem solved! Thanks so much.

  • CS5.5 Production Premium via Akamai or direct download: unrecognised, small .dmg file size

    A discussion / open call for help about my experiences downloading the product. This may help
    Product:
    CS5.5 Production Premium (download version), Intel Based Mac
    My system:
    MacBook Pro OSX 10.6.8
    FireFox 7.0
    Safari 5.1
    Chrome 15
    Problem:
    Downloading the 8.2GB .dmg file from order history/your downloads page or opening downloaded file.
    1. Akamai shows that "download integrity is invalid". Confirming to start the process over yields same result. Also noticed that filesze is only 202.36MB.
    2. "Alternative download method" of direct download results in a 212MB file that is not recognised as a disk image.
    3. Speaking to chat support, and going through the above steps again, a direct link was eventually provided, but "access denied" error (to what appears to be the trial version of CS5, not CS5.5). We then had to initiate and cancel a Lightroom download, then go back to the direct link to start CS5 trial.
    Download started, but filesize was only 608MB, which cannot be right (no screenshot) No further help on this issue from chat support. I am expecting a call from them, but then I received a case update e-mail saying that they were "happy that we have started the download for Production Premium CS5.5", so not very encouraging.
    Also not clearly explained was why I was given the trial. I assume I can unlock the full version with my serial.
    4. Via CS5.5 product page, I started downloading trial using Adobe Download Manager. I have to hover over the progress bar to see what the download status is - 15 hours to go. At least it has initiated and seems to be downloading the right filesize. I am hoping I can just put my serial in this and unlock the full version.
    Not the smoothest experience so far. I'll update if this works.

    (update:) I've also tried downloading other elements, such as CS5.5 master and I've got the same problem. It seems that EVERY downloads stop before the end...
    What does it mean? That Adobe doesn't want users to downlaod trials?

  • Bad file is not created during the external table creation.

    Hello Experts,
    I have created a script for external table in Oracle 10g DB. Everything is working fine except it does not create the bad file, But it creates the log file. I Cann't figure out what is the issue. Because my shell scripts is failing and the entire program is failing. I am attaching the table creation script and the shell script where it is refering and the error. Kindly let me know if something is missing. Thanks in advance

  • Suddenly can't create dirs or files!? "Bad file descriptor"

    Tearing my hair out...
    Suddenly, neither root nor users can create files or directories in directories under /home. Attempting to do so gets: Error -51 in Finder, "Bad file descriptor" from command line, and "Invalid file handle" via SMB.
    However, files and dirs can be: read, edited, moved, and occasionally copied. Rebooting made no difference.
    Anyone have a clue on where to start on this?

    Indeed. This whole episode has exposed rather woeful lack of robustness on the part of the X Server and XRAID... various things failing and server hanging completely as a result of a few bad files on disk.. with lack of useful feedback as to what was happening.
    Best I can tell, we had reached the stage where the next available disk location for directory or file was bad... blocking any further additions.
    I've embarked on the process of copying everything off, remove crash-provoking files, replace one bad drive (hot swap didn't work), erase all, perform surface conditioning (bad-block finding) procedure, and maybe later this century will be copying all files back.
    Looks to me like the bad block finding procedure is finding a few bad blocks on the supposedly good drives... presumably will isolate those, but maybe we need to get more new drives.

  • Bad File Descriptor in /dev/fd/3, and 94Gb of disk space missing

    I noticed a few days ago, possibly as the result of a recent kernel panic, that I have a large chunk of hard drive space missing. The Finder reports that I have approximately 89Gb of free space, but using "df" reports that there is approximately 178Gb free. Using "du" doesn't report any unexpected huge files, so I tried running GrandPerspective. In addition to the usual file usage and free space, this shows a single 94Gb block of "miscellaneous used space".
    I then booted into Single User mode to run fsck on the startup drive. This reported several errors, and took 3 passes to repair the directory structure, but didn't recover the missing space. I have subsequently run TechTool Pro and DiskWarrior on the startup drive (both of which found various minor errors), but the 94Gb still refuses to show itself.
    I then tried using "find" to look for single large files, using "sudo find / -size +94371840" (anything larger than 90Gb), and I get the following errors:
    find: /dev/fd/3: Bad file descriptor
    find: /dev/fd/4: Not a directory
    find: /dev/fd/5: Not a directory
    After searching Google, a "Bad file descriptor" error points to an inode issue, that fsck cannot fix, but I don't know enough (read: anything) about inodes to risk running the clri command to zero the problem inode.
    Short of blanking the startup disk and installing from scratch (not an attractive option), is there anything I can do to fix the broken inode and recover the missing space?
    Any help appreciated.

    This is not an error and always happens with find unless you exclude the /dev hierarchy from the search. (Interestingly this seems to have gone away with 10.5??)
    To locate your missing space, try WhatSize. Another alternative which I have not used personally is Disk Inventory X.
    As an additional point, with 10.4 it is actually better to use Disk Utility, since it does more than fsck: Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck, quote:
    Note: If you're using Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you should use Disk Utility instead of fsck, whenever possible.

  • Can We rename BAD File name in SQL Loader

    Hi All,
    Can we rename BAD File name in SQL loader?
    If yes, how?
    Thanks in Advance,
    S

    Hi,
    You can rename the bad file before running SQL*Loader, or specify the name of the bad file using the BADFILE clause followed by a filename. If you do not specify a name for the bad file, the name defaults to the name of the datafile with an extension or file type of .bad

  • Upload-Szenario - WDRuntimeException Bad file descriptor

    Hi All,
    i'm using the Adobe Document Services on a NW04, ADS SP 19, NWDS 2.0.19 with IE 6.0.2900 SP2.
    If i use the Upload-UI-Element to show a PDF i got the error:  Bad file descriptor !!
    The PDF to upload is not corrupt, an i can open it with Acrobat Reader or the Tutorial (Download-Upload-Szenario) - Example.
    I had a binary Value-Attribute mapped as Data-Element of the UploadUI-Element. Read the Context-Value-Attribute to the controller context element and the Interactive Form Element had the reference to the attribute as pdfsource. The same code as the tutorial.
    What's wrong ?
    I didn't find anything about the error !
    Thanks for help.

    Two things I think helped to solve this

    master = true
    plugins = python2
    uid = http

    [/etc/uwsgi/vassals/test.ini:
    [uwsgi]
    chdir = /srv/http/test_dir/src
    wsgi-file = run.py

    vacuum = true
    thunder-lock = true
    socket = /run/uwsgi/test-sock.sock
    chmod-socket = 664
    harakiri = 60
    logto = /var/log/uwsgi/test.log
    Not sure on the
    PROPAGATE_EXCEPTIONS = True
    but removing the threads option in test.ini and making sure there was a master option in emperor.ini seemed to have solved the issue of sql being tossed around to different treads, or at least it complaining about it and crashing the site out, either or.
    Also don't use the uwsgi from this distribution, get it from pip, the distros are broken.

  • Difficulty opening old projects.  Disk too slow, bad files, etc...

    Recently I've been trying to update old song files. I have a bunch of projects from Logic 6 that have trouble in Logic 7. I get tons of "Disk too slow or System Overload" errors and Logic Crashes quite a bit as a result. The songs aren't overly processor intense, so I think something else must be the problem. When trying to move song files into a new project folder, I get "bad file" errors. The audio files will play, but it seems the computer may be having trouble playing them. Anyone have any experience with this?

    my guess is logic's guts are still in some sort of app wrapper.
    apple have not altered the code, except where needed for the new bells and whistles. (sort of like some form of advanced simulation).
    logic's performance will vary wildly from mac to mac, depending on the osx version and it's hardware.

  • External table log and bad files

    Hi, i have defined the following access parameters for my external table and set REJECT LIMIT to 0:
    ACCESS PARAMETERS
    RECORDS DELIMITED by NEWLINE
    BADFILE BAD_DIR:'CARDS.bad'
    LOGFILE LOG_DIR:'CARDS.log'
    NODISCARDFILE
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY ","

    READSIZE 1048576
    LRTRIM
    MISSING FIELD VALUES ARE NULL
    REJECT ROWS WITH ALL NULL FIELDS
    I want to know everytime i query the external table, my log file and bad file will be overwritten or appended? i want them to be overwritten.

    Hi,
    Yeah, well, be in for a surprise here:
    "The external tables feature is a complement to existing SQL*Loader functionality."

From Java standalone program it is working fine.The general strategy when doing old school JSP development is to use a servlet to do the business logic stuff and a JSP only to render the view. The strategy is basically to:
    - enter in the Servlet which will do stuff and prepare data
    - any data prudent to the view is put in the request scope using setAttribute()
    - make the servlet forward to the JSP that renders the view (which does not always have to be the same one!)
