10g Forms App on Mac

I'm having difficulty understanding the problem I'm having with getting our forms app to come up on a Mac. The user has tried several browsers and has gotten error FRM-92050. I looked this up on metalink but the solution was linux related so I don't believe it applied in our case.
I wonder if there is some configuration I need to do or something on the mac I need to do. I'm very unfamiliar w/ Macs so any assistance with this would be helpful.
The forms app is a recent upgrade from 6i to 10g of which I am still working on but I have enough completed to run tests on our users' machines.

I have experienced the same problem. The error message is FRM 92050 Failed to connect to the server /forms90/l90servlet-1
details...
java Exception:
java.io.IOException:Negative content length from http://192.168.1.254:7777/forms90/f90servlet?config=dominio&acceptLanguage=it-it,it;....
I haven't any problems on Windows or linux.
Is there someone who knows the solution?

  • Best way to port all Windows XP files, applicaitons and data form my PC over to iMac and how to run those Windows apps on Mac?ns on Mac?

I have a Windows XP machine with apps, files and data.  I want to get all that over to my Mac, and also run those apps under Windows XP or even Windows 7 on my Mac.  Im wondering:
    1.  How best to get those files over to my Mac
    2.  How to run those apps and use my Windows based files/data on my Mac
    3.  How best to run Windows on my Mac....either partitiion my Mac's hard drive and boot up either Windows or MAC OS, or run some other program where I can easily switch back and forth form Windows to MAC OS, or perhaps get it all on an external hard drive, maybe partition that Windows/MAC OS and boot from that?
    Thanks!

I agree you would benefit by using virtualizaiton software. Virtual Box is one alternative the commercial apps for doing virtualization are Parallels and VMWare Fusion which you also might be interested in for their support and updates.
Also you may benefit by book marking and using:
Mac 101 , Switch 101 & Find Out How Video tutorials
For your MS Office apps then I'd STRONGLY recommend using the native Office For Mac versions, you can find these on Amazon for less than $100 and then you can run the apps natively rather than having to lean on MS Windows. Also for your Financial and Tax software you also may want to use OS X apps too, for example I used Quicken for over 20 years (PC mostly and some Mac) but switched to iBank. Also for tax software I have used Quicken's Turbo Tax, this also runs natively on OS X.
In other words for your stated needs I don't see much reason to stay with MS Windows. You may have other considerations, if you do please state them, some may be real issues and some may be easily overcome.

  • Iconic file in oracle 10g forms

    hii,,
i am a new user in oracle 10g form,,,here i am running a form & placing all the icons in a folder, after that i changed the iconic file path in the default.env file, the path is same where the icons are kept,,but still i am unable to see the icons at the run time,,,,,
do i need to modify some other file or the icons will be kept at some particaular place????
    plzzzz help.....

    hi
1 How to Display Iconic Images Using Forms 9.0.x/ 10.x?
When running an Oracle Forms 9i/10g application the icon files used must be in a web enabled
format such as JPG or GIF (GIF is the default format) (This is unlike older versions of forms running in client-server mode when the file format is .ico.)
Icon image files can either be retrieved by Forms as individual files on the filesystem or from a Java Archive (JAR file).
If an application uses lots of icon images it is recommended that they are stored in a JAR file to reduce the number of HTTP round trips.
Reference:Note 232413.1 How to Deploy Iconic Images via a JAR File in Forms 9i/10g?
The example below details steps to configure iconic images as individual gif or jpeg files.
It is a first approach recommended for initial testing and understanding.
    Example:
    ========
This document has been written for use with both Windows and UNIX operating systems: Windows will use the "\" character to delimit directories and UNIX uses the "/" character. Any other differences are noted in the document.
    1) Determine the physical location of the icons on your web server. For this example, assume that the icons are stored in D:\Myfiles\icons.
    2) Create the virtual directory in the forms90.conf file that point to the location of your Forms 9i/10g icons. This file is located in:
    $ORACLE_HOME\forms90\server\forms90.conf
To define a virtual directory forms90/icons, use the following syntax:
    # Virtual path for ICONS (used to show icons in a form ) AliasMatch ^/forms90/icons/(..*) "D:\Myfiles/icons/$1"
Below is an example of the forms90.conf after it has been modified to include the /forms90/icons virtual directory.
    # Virtual path mapping for Forms Java jar and class files (codebase) AliasMatch ^/forms90/java/(..*) "E:\IASR2\APP/forms90/java/$1" # Virtual path for JInitiator downloadable executable and download page AliasMatch ^/forms90/jinitiator/(..*) "E:\IASR2\APP/jinit/$1" # Virtual path for runform.htm (used to run a form for testing purposes) AliasMatch ^/forms90/html/(..*) "E:\IASR2\APP/tools/web90/html/$1"
    # Virtual path for ICONS (used to show icons in a form ) AliasMatch ^/forms90/icons/(..*) "D:\Myfiles/icons/$1"
    ( For 10g use instead of "forms90" -> "forms")
    3) Direct forms to use the /forms90/icons or /forms/icons virtual directory when running on the web by modifying the Registry.dat file in the $ORACLE_HOME\forms90\java\oracle\forms\registry or $ORACLE_HOME\forms\java\oracle\forms\registry
directory. Note that for UNIX, both the path name and file name are case sensitive. You must specify "Registry.dat".
Modify the default.icons.iconpath entry as follows: default.icons.iconpath=http:///forms90/icons/ or default.icons.iconpath=http:///forms/icons/
If the URL used to bring up forms on the web is: http://abc.oracle.com:7778/forms90/f90servlet or http://abc.oracle.com:7778/forms/frmservlet
Then the entry required for the Registry.dat will be: default.icons.iconpath=http://abc.oracle.com:7778/forms90/icons or default.icons.iconpath=http://abc.oracle.com:7778/forms/icons default.icons.iconextension=gif
    4) Now use EM Website to: a) Restart the OC4J-BI-Forms Instance b) Restart the BI-FORMS HTTP Server Instance.
    5) Verify that the virtual directory has been defined properly and that the icons can be viewed in a browser.
Assuming that exeqry.gif exists in the D:\Myfiles\icons directory, the following URL should show the icon:
    http://abc.oracle.com:7778/forms90/icons/exeqry.gif or http://abc.oracle.com:7778/forms/icons/exeqry.gif
    6) Check the form : http://abc.oracle.com:7778/forms90/f90servlet?form=D:\Testcases\F90\ICON_CHECK_IASR2.fmx or http://abc.oracle.com:7778/forms/frmservlet?form=D:\Testcases\F10g\ICON_CHECK_IASR2.fmx
    CHECKLISTS
    =============
Icons do not appear in the browser using the URL:
o Verify that you are using the correct machine name and port for the OC4J_BI_Forms object.
o Check the virtual directory name to make sure that there are no typographical errors. o Check for typographical errors in the forms90.conf or forms.
conf for the virtual directory. o Check the name of the icon on the file system. If the file is saved as Exeqry.gif, then it will not be found using the URL http://abc.oracle.com:7778/forms90/ Close all your browser sessions and open a new browser window.
Execute the URL to bring up from the Form Builder runtime or from the browser.
    ( For 10G use "forms" instead of "forms90")USEFUL REFERENCES:==================

Hi I have just bought a new Mac Book Pro 15" Retina display with 256 SSD and 8G RAM. I had my info transferred form my Previous Mac Book Pro late 2011 to this machine. When trying to download Mavericks it says it cannot be loaded onto this machine? Strange as I have just downloaded Pages, Numbers and Keynote...free? Thanks and Regards
    Brian

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You already have got OS X Mavericks installed (the Keynote, Pages and Numbers versions available in the Mac App Store are only compatible with OS X Mavericks).
You have got a Late 2013 MacBook Pro, which uses a special OS X Mavericks version that is not available in the Mac App Store. This is the reason why the Mac App Store is not compatible with OS X Mavericks even if you are using it. This will be fixed in OS X 10.9.1, when your Mac uses the same Mavericks version as all other Macs.
Until then, you can reinstall OS X through OS X Recovery > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718

I am looking for information on iPad and iPhone apps and Mac software that are "top of the line" for academic research. The most current and comprehensive information I have found is dated July 2010.

    PogoPossum,
My area of interest is in business and economic history. There is a considerable amount of reading and charting. Until the iPad hit the streets, I only considered stacks of books, journals, and downloaded documents, all marked up with highlighters, underlines, and marginal notes.
Most of my PC based work involved MS Office, Endnote, and MS OneNote.
What I would like to do with the iPad and MacBook are the same things (Office, Endnote, OneNote) and add the ability to read and markup all forms of printed materials from books to pdf to webpages.
I cut my teeth on an iPod Touch and have tried a lot of the note taking and reading apps. Without a camera the standard iPod Notes works for short quick notes and long think pieces. I just emailed the content and downloaded the stuff to my PC. Obviously, I do not want to continue at this "non-integrated" level of work.
    Does this help?

  • 10g Form - first execute query - very slow

    I have the following issue:
    Enter an application
open a form in enter query mode
first time execute query is very slow (several minutes)
every other time it's quick (couple seconds or less)
I can leave the form, use other forms within the app, come back and query is still quick. It's only the first time after initially launching the app.
Any ideas what might be causing this?

We have the same application running in 6i client/server DB-9i in production. We are testing the upgraded application that is 10g forms on OAS DB-10g. We don't have the issue in the current production client/server app.

  • ORA-04045 error on a 10g form

I have a form 10g that runs fine on one server, then when I move the FMX over to another 100% identical server, I get the ORA04045 error as soon as i run the form. I've recompiled the form and still get the error.
The problem is that teh message on the form is truncated and I can not see which object is causing the issue.
    Anyone have any ideas?

then when I move the FMX over to another 100% identical serverThis is a common miss-conception - you should ALWAYS compile your form on the server it will run from.
I've recompiled the form and still get the error. My first suspicion is that the servers are not 100% identical. Rather than a SQL Trace, I suggest you use the Forms Runtime Diagnostics (FRD) to trace just the Forms Session. You might need to modify the default.env and formsweg.cfg to enable FRD. Double check with your App Server admin to see if the "FORMS_TRACE_DIR=" variable is set in the DEFAULT.ENV. As long as this is set, you can enable FRD through the Forms app URL. Start your application and then add "record=collect log=<your_file_name_here.txt" to the URL to start the FRD trace. You could also have your admin modify the formsweb.cfg to create a config just for FRD. For example, I modified my local formsweb.cfg and added the following section so I can run FRD on specific forms from my workstation.
    [my_frd]
    otherparams=record=collect log=my_frd.txt
This setting is dependent on the FORMS_TRACE_DIR= variable in the default.env.
With this added to the formsweb.cfg, you can enable FRD by adding "config=my_frd" to the url instead of explictly passing record= and log= to the URL.
The log file produced by the FRD is quite large but, if you end your application after you receive the error, you could go to the end of the log file and work your way back until you find the error.
    Hope this helps,
    Craig B-)

  • How to install 10g Forms and reports in Unix

    Hi All,
How to install 10g Forms and reports in Unix, do we need to install 10g AS then desktop forms and reports, Any metalink documents for reference .
    Thanks

Is it really so hard for you to find the installation guide?
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25016_08//doc/dl/core/B16012_04/toc.htm
For the Developer Suite you don't need the App Server. You need the App Server for production.

  • Oracle Forms on Intel Mac

    i there,
My job requires me to access an application which has been written in Oracle Forms. Unfortunately, when I try to open the URL of the application, Safari and Firefox both complain. I tried the same operation via my Parallels Windows XP partition and noticed that it wants to install an ActiveX called 'Jinitiator'. I did some investigation on the net and found references to people being able to run Oracle Forms via a Classic program called 'Applet Runner'. Of course, on my Intel-based Macbook, I can't run that program! I installed the Mac OS X program 'Applet Launcher' from the XCode package and tried using that to access the Oracle Forms app but that didn't work :(
I want to know, has anyone managed to run an Oracle Forms app on an Intel Mac and if so, how do I do it! My workaround is to use Windows XP via Parallels but it does eat into my machines performance and would love to be able to run the app natively.

For OS X the active x plugin is useless. You could ask your DBA to fix the jpi config part of the formsweb.cfg. This enables you to run forms from an applet (pure java), without jinitiator. How this can be done can be found on numerous places in this forum.

  • Opening help html documents from 10g form

We are converting our 6i forms to 10g. I am trying to open my help html documents from the 10g forms. We have modified the httpd.conf file setting the DocumentRoot "/oracle/apps/aces/help". This is the path where my html documents reside. From the 10g forms I am using web.show_document to open the html documents. I am getting a Page not Found error. Is there somewhere else the help path needs to be set?
    Thanks!!
    Shellie Bricker

The way i know is, putting some AliasMatch in the conf-file of Apache like
AliasMatch ^/help/(..*) "C:\help/$1"And then use WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT with this virtual path
    WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT('//help/helpfile.html', '_blank');

  • E-business 10g forms

    hi folks ,
is it right that oracle intends to convert all 10g forms to jsp pages ?
and if it is right , i wanna know why , thanks a lot

that is what i heard , but i wanna know why ? what is wrong with 10g forms , and what advantages jsp pages have that ebs need
and these advantages 10g forms do not have ? Using Oracle Application Framework (OAF) and Application Development Framework (ADF) [ID 563047.1]
Forms tech stack will not be included in Fusion Applications - it is built using ADF.what do you mean hear with fusion applications ,( i know that there will be fusion middleware suite soon has oracle forms builder 12c)
what is built with adf , what applications do you mean ?Oracle Fusion Applications Documentation

  • Client PC access to forms app

    Here's my problem...
This morning - no issues with PC's accessing forms app.
Windows auto-updates on the server take place.
Now client PC's are blocked from accessing the application - Page cannot be displayed message.
Windows has obviously updated some security/firewall setting on the server which has blocked client access. If anyone has any ideas as to what this may be I'd be forever grateful... The server firewall is set to off and the url is added to the trusted/local sites list in Explorer on the server.
Server is Windows 2003 R2 Standard Edition and Oracle Forms/Reports and database are all 10g R2.
    Many thanks

    Hi,
I've added javaw.exe to the firewall exceptions list and added port 7778...
Still no joy in connecting... would you have any other ideas, ports that may need adding... or could you point me in the direction of un-doing the updates that have taken place...
    Regards,
    Tony
