10g grid control. minimum DB privileges for database performance tab?

database -> performance tab -> log into database.
what are the minimum privileges needed for this? I normally use DBA privs. However, I need to give access to non-dbas. When I try to log in with their account, it says see the help. I have been hunting through the help, but can't find anything about this.

This article may be of use: http://dbastreet.com/blog/?tag=grid-control
If you "grant select any table" (Query tables, views, or mviews in any schema) to the role oem_monitor you get what you want. Maybe an overkill but thats what I can think of now.

  • Installing Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Using an Existing Database

    I want to install Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control 10.2.0.3 using an existing database. This database is RAC 10.2.0.2. and I use it as Infrastructure Metadata Repository.
    I is said in Oracle documentation that SYSMAN schema has to be dropped, thus Database console repository has to be dropped. As far as I understand after Grid Control installation I will not be able to use Database console for my RAC 10.2.0.2 Infrastructure Metadata Repository database. I will be able to use only Grid Control for this database.
    Am I right? Could you give me any advice about Installing Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Using an Existing Database?
    Thank you.

  • Error - when creating a standby database with EM 10g Grid Control

    Hi,
    I am experiencing some problems when I want to create through the EM 10g Grid Control a standby database from a allready existing db. At step 2 when the files should be generated and copied to the other system, I am always getting the error that there isn't enough disk space on the other system. This can't be because there is at least 30GB free and the installer is asking for less than 1GB. I was searching the whole internet for a solution to this issue, but there was just nothing that could help me out with that point...
    Has someone an idea at this point? Thanks for helping...
    I am working on a Windows 2003 Server - Enterprise Edition for every system (Grid Control, Primary DB and Standby DB).
    Best regards,
    Patrick.

    Check that filesystem space using GC under targets>hosts on which you are trying to create standby. Do you have any specific error message from GC ? If GC shows proper size under host filesystem section then there shuld be no such problem. Double chk ur locations too.

  • Creating a new Oracle Database using 10G Grid Control

    Hi
    Is it possible to create a new database using the 10g Grid COntrol.

    The way to create a database with EM, is by using Provisioning procedures. For instance with the Oracle Clusterware / RAC Provisioning For UNIX, you can provisioning Clusterware, ASM + ASM instance creation and DB Software. Then by provisoning you would create a database. There are also procedures to extend a cluster.
    So, provisoning is the way to go!

  • OEM 10g grid control using an existing database

    Hello all,
    Has anyone been successful in installing Enterprise Manager 10g Grid
    Control (10.1.0.3) using and existing 10g (10.1.0.3) database?
    10g grid control comes with 9.0.5.0 database for it repository. Since
    this respository can not be update to 10.1.0.3, Oracle recommends using
    and existing 10g database instead.
    My installation goes 90% all the way before it fails. It fails at the
    create repository point.
    If any one has been successful, could you please share your success
    with me.
    Thanks,
    Jake

    Well, finally I did it! :)
    The problem comes when you are trying to install OEM repository into existing 10g DB which used to be configured with a standalone Database Control. Dropping SYSMAN user is not enough!!! There are some leftovers which must be cleaned before running repository creation assistant:
    drop user SYSMAN cascade;
    drop user MGMT_VIEW cascade;
    drop role MGMT_USER;
    drop public synonym MGMT_TARGET_BLACKOUTS;
    drop public synonym SETEMVIEWUSERCONTEXT;
    That's all folks.

  • OEM Database Control and 10g Grid Control

    Can any one tell the difference between OEM Database Control and OEM 10g Grid Control.

    Database Control is the HTTP Management environment and comes installed with the 10g Database. It can be used to manage one database (one target) at a time (standalone). To monitor more than one database, you must create a new console on a different port for each database.
    10g Grid Control is the Enterprise version in that you can monitor different Target from different operationg systems at the same time. These include Application Servers, Listeners, Operation Systems, Non Oracle Database Systems using plugins (from 10gR2).
    So, for someone who was using OEM 9i, there was connection in to Standalone Console (Java) and Oracle Management Server (Java and HTML). In 10g, they are replaced with Database Control (Java and HTML versions) and Grid Control respectively.

  • Insufficient Data in Interval.  on 9i db  in 10g grid control

    Hi,
    I am getting this while trying to monitor a 9i db in 10g grid control.
    Insufficient Data in Interval. For displaying data on this page, two historical snapshots are needed. Make sure that two snapshots are present in the target database instance. In addition modify the interval so that it is contained within two available snapshots
    Is there anyway how to deal with this .
    TIA
    PK

    Sounds like its looking for statspack data.
    Can you run statspack.snap() as perfstat user a couple times and see if it sees the data.
    If thats way off - then what screen are you seeing this on?

    The OMS is not set up for Enterprise Manager Security.

  • 10g Grid Control Installation/configuration on RAC

    Hi Experts,
    I am new to RAC and I need your help.
    I need to configure 2 node RAC and install/configure Oracle 10g Grid control (High Availability) on HP-UX Itanium servers. Is there any good document or link?
    Thank You all in advance
    Bell

    Hi Bell,
    Here is the link for the 10gR5 Grid Control Installation Guide: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B16240_01/doc/install.102/e10953/toc.htm
    Considering the GC repository is a RAC database you will be performing the "+Using an Existing Database+" installation type.
    I would highlight the below part of the documentation:
    To view a list of certified Oracle Database, see Document ID 412431.1 on My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink).
    If you want to use a RAC database, which is configured on a virtual host, as the existing database, then refer to Document ID 561441.1 on My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink).
    HTH,
    Regards,
    Jozsef

  • Can Grid control 11g monitor Oracle 9i database

    Can Grid control 11g monitor Oracle 9i database? This is on Linux5.7
    Thanks for the help
    s.

    Yes but Enterprise Manager 11.1 Grid Control requires the 11.1 Agent.
    Then go to the Targets tab, then Databases. It should self-discover the 9i database.
    Also see Advanced Uses of Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g
    http://www.oracle.com/us/products/enterprise-manager/advanced-uses-em11g-wp-170683.pdf
    >
    Oracle Secure Backup protects not only Oracle Database 9i, 10g and 11g,
    Grid Control supplies a common, standard interface to set up and manage Oracle Data Guard for Oracle Database 9i, 10g and 11g databases

  • Discoverer and 10g Grid Control

    Is anyone using 10g Grid Control to do any sort of monitoring (availability monitoring, performance, etc.) of Discoverer Plus, Viewer or the Portlet Provider? Any tips or strategies?

    I saw this once but I forgot how I solved it. I believe that I made a softlink to the libc.so.6 from another libc. Have a look on Metalink, becauses I've got the idea for my solution there.
