10g OBIEE migration

Hi,
is there any specific document to migrate OBI 10g 32 bit to 64 bit on windows..?
Thanks

Some of the links here which can help you to learn ... How to upgrade from 10G to 11g.

  • Discoverer 4i to OBIEE migration methodology - Oracle Recommended Way

    Hi,
We are looking into a scenario where we are required to migrate large number of Discoverer 4i reports to OBIEE. We have good number of custom reports(approx 200) and views too that are to be migrated.
Am aware about the migration assistant that comes along with OBIEE 10.1.3.4. It's a very useful tool, BUT we need to consider the following facts before proceeding:
    1. The tool is not for migrating Oracle E-Business Suite Discoverer reports (BIS).
    2. The minimum version of Discoverer EUL that can be used with the Assistant is 10.1.2.n.
    3. The version of the RPD file that is generated is dependent upon the installed version of Oracle BI EE that the Assistant is run against but must be a minimum of 10.1.3.4.
What is the Oracle recommended approach... complete rebuild of the repository in OBIEE/ Migration from 4i -> 9i ->10g and then to 10.1.3.4/...?
Appreciate inputs from the product gurus and experts.
    Regards
    KSK

Ok firstly I'm not sure there is an Oracle recommended approach for migration,.
However based on my experience at an eBS client - the Discoverer workbooks were very different from what we wanted to achieve with our new OBIEE dashboards. The Discoverer folders were based on complex views which joined relevant OLTP tables together and contained both Dimension attributes and Facts in the same folder. They were used by our users mainly to extract data at the transaction level into Access databases, this is something we were keen to move away from, and adopt a more Analytic top down approach, drilling into the detail as in Disco. This did require some additional work with our user base to see what they were actually doing in Access and if we could do this in OBIEE, which in most cases we could (although we did use Apex in places too).
We looked at the migration tool, and it seemed to do a decent enough job technically, however for the reasons above ie. the move towards a top down solution we decided on a manual build approach.
The model for OBIEE had to be different, we broke down the views into their component Dimensions and Facts for - whilst the Physical model was 3NF, we ensured the Business model was a pure Star Schema (this was recommended by Oracle). The Subject Areas were kept quite small, and aligned to the business process, no more than 10-12 logical tables with a couple of fact logical tables, and most of all our dev teams had a set of guidelines to follow to ensure we had consistent repositories (Object Names, Ordering, Logical Levels etc..)
If you are using eBS i would have a look at some of the BI Applications Oracle have produced, you may get a good idea for best practise and standards for producing a repository from them. Also the new 10.1.3.4 dashboard has some examples of good layout, and some nice tips (ie. One Answer per Dashboard page, Prompts at the top etc...etc..)
    Good Luck.

  • Problem regarding Discoverer to OBIEE Migration

    Hi,
I am trying Discoverer to OBIEE Migration  by using simple apps tables for practicing purpose facing some issue here , so i would like to get help from you all experts.
The tables that used in .exx file are as follows:
            po_requisition_headers_all ,
            po_requisition_lines_all ,
            po_req_distributions_all ,
            po_distributions_all ,
            po_headers_all .
I have created .eex in Discoverer it contains above tables, using OBIEE migration utility I have migrated .exx file into the .rpd  . Create a connection pool so physical table views the  data  in physical layer tables upto here i followed  the following link :
Article: Migrating Oracle Discoverer Data to Oracle Business Intelligence 11g
when .eex is migrated into .rpd facing following problems:
    1. The joins between the tables are not visible into the Physical Layer. So i need to create it manually or what?
    2. About Hierarchy,Complex folders Hierarchies are not migrated as above link so I need to create it manually or what?
    3.
        - Complex folders based on other complex folders are not migrated.
        - Summary folders are not migrated.
-The system cannot migrate complex folders that are dimensions.
-Hierarchies based on Complex Folders are not migrated.
So what are the steps that I need to follow to overcome this all.
Please reply me all or some points that you know or you already overcome this types of senario.
    Thanks

Its the same as you'd get if you were creating the repository from scratch. Username: Administrator with no password.

  • Oracle 10g XE migrate from 32bit to 64bit becomes slower

Oracle 10g XE migrate from 32bit to 64bit becomes slower
Currently we have a database using Oracle 10g XE R2
(Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0)
    on a linux 32bit server.
And recently we did migrate it to another 64bit linux server.
But found after migration is it running slower at 64bit server (~ 25% slower)
    1. We would wonder any tuning is required on 64bit server?
Besides, as I know Oracle XE only using single core CPU for processing.
    On 32bit linux the CPU is Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E31235 @ 3.20GHz
    On 64bit linux the CPU is Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2470 v2 @ 2.40GHz
    2. Would the CPU clock speed on a single core also made the 64bit Oracle slower?
    Thanks a lot.

32 or 64 bit normally won't cause much performance difference as long as you can't use > 4GB RAM
Please note that XE can use only 1 core and 1GB memory.
According to benchmarks, Single Thread Rating of the 2 CPU really differ by around 25%. Quite consistent with your observation.
Of course, IO (i.e., disk) speed is also an important factor.

  • Display graphs in 10g on migration from forms 6i

    Hello,
plesase can u tell me how will u display forms in 10g on migration from forms 6i?
    mamata

The HOST command in Forms can only call procedures on the client that runs Forms (assuming you run Forms in client/server mode, this is the user's PC).
If you want to run a procedure on the database host, you have to call this procedure from the database, not from Forms.
In 8i the easiest way is to do this via a Java stored procedure:

  • Performance Tuning in Oracle 10g during Migration - Insert Statements

Some of the tables contain a huge data e.g. 7 million records to be migrated.
The table structure of Source Database is different from the Target Database (Where we are doing the migration).
So we have made a use of temporary tables to collect the data from different tables using joins and populate the main table using INSERT INTO tableA SELECT * FROM tableZ
    Now the problem statement.
Some of the queries take infinite time and data doesnt get inserted into the main tables. I have seen the explain plan and didnt find anything unusual. The same query works fine when we use date time stamp and restrict the data.
What parameters do we have to take care ? Is there any configuration needed on Oracle Server side ? If yes which parameters?

Lets start with the basics. First what is 10g? Is that 10.1.0.3 or 10.2.0.4 or something else?
Second 7 million records is a relatively small dataset.
No one can possibly help you with no DDL, no DML, no Explain Plan output generated with DBMS_XPLAN.
We can make wild guesses but that is like closing your eyes in a dark room and trying to find the light switch.
Please repost all relevant information so someone can help you.

  • How to replace the forms6i menu parameter in forms 10g after migration

    Hai,
We have forms6i application and we are going to migrate forms6i into forms 10g .The forms 6i have the menu userdefine parameter. But forms 10g don't have the option. so please send me the suggesstion what we can do .Is there any alternative way.How to bring the same funtionality in forms 10g after the migration.pls reply me
    THANKS

We had the same problem - you could develop a new form just to accept the necessary user input, but that might be overkill. We used Forms Editors, displaying them with an appropriate startup text e.g. 'Parameter1='. The user then types in the parameter, then we check the new Editor text and pull out the info we need.

  • Runnig forms in oracle 10g after  migrating them from oracle 6i

Guyz ....i have developed forms in oracle 6i and when i presented them to the my manager he says that he wants them to be web based.....arghhhh.!!!!!! shud have told me at the beginning itself....anyways i downloaded the forms 10g from oracle website and migrates my forms from 6i to 10g ....
1.The forms are getting compiled and i can run them on my laptop.. i wanna noe whats the procedure to run them on other system .....the port number is 8889
I mean running them on a web on some other LP or system.???
2.And my 2nd problem is that ...The records are not being saved in 10g as in 6i. I created the forms in 6i using the data block wizard and set the block accordingly as told by u people in this forum

Look at the existing formsweb.cfg configuration file located in your <DEVSUITE_HOME>/forms/server folder. It allows you to create different sections to start your Forms applications.
For instance, if you create a application_1 section, give this name in your URL.

  • Oracle 10g reports migration to Oracle 11g migration

I have migrated oracle 10g reports to Oracle 11g reports and generated REP file. But when we execute REP file using RWRUN.EXE I am getting below error.
    ERR REP-50125: rwbuilder.conf:java.lang.NullPointerException
    ERR java.lang.NullPointerException
to avoid this I tried below work arround which was posted in "https://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2365028" URL. but not success.
    1. Go to C:\Oracle\Middleware\asinst_1\config\FRComponent\frcommon\tools\admin
    2. Make a backup of the file 'cauprefs.ora'
    3. Open up the file in a text editor:
    --In the file, look for:
    Reports.PluggableDataSourceFactories =
    ("oracle.reports.plugin.datasource.xmlpds.XMLDataSourceFactory",
    "oracle.reports.plugin.datasource.jdbcpds.JDBCDataSourceFactory",
    "oracle.reports.plugin.datasource.textpds.TextDataSourceFactory")
    --Replace the value to: Reports.PluggableDataSourceFactories = ()
    4. Save the file and try running Reports Builder again. Data Model should open up without crashing.
Could you please help me to resolve this issue.

When I use rwrun.bat report is not invoking i use below command line. I am executing rwrun.bat from C:\Oracle\Middleware\asinst_1\config\reports\bin path.
    rwrun.bat report="C:\Program Files\prnsrv\advices\01\bcacuchq.rep" userid=dbuserid/[email protected] desformat=pdf DESTYPE=file DESNAME="c:\temp\test.pdf" TRACEFILE="C:\TEMP\test.LOG" PRM_BRCH_CODE=781 PRM_PROD_CODE=BC PRM_PROD_REF_ID=BC11100142 PRM_ORDER_COL=DELIVERY_MODE PRM_CHQ_RPT=Y

  • Siebel to OBIEE migration - Nested Aggregation Issue

    Hi
I recently migrated from Siebel to OBIEE, now after migrating i found that i am having consistency errors at RPD level
    Error_:
[14041] Error in measure definition for column X. Nested aggregate measure definitions are currently not supported.
    Formula for Column X:
    X= Sum(A*B)
Where A and B are two columns from 2 different logical tables, and both A and B have aggregates like Max or Min or Avg ...
I need someone to guide me how to fix the error and get the right data, because sometimes when we fix Error we still don't get correct values.
    regards

    Hy,
Yes, you can't have a sum from a sum as :
sum(sum(a)*sum(b))I suppose that you want :
sum(a*b)You need to create a Calculation Measure Using Physical Columns to have
    this calculation a*b
Check here how to do :
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_bi/bi_ee_1013/bi_admin/biadmin.html#t5s5
And then apply the sum aggregate definition on this column
    Success

  • Where are my database diagrams - 10g - 11g migration ???

    Hi all,
Can anyone please HELP me in locating/recovering my tables in my database diagrams.
I had my tables designed in JDeveloper 10g (10.1.3.10.3984 build JDEVADF_10.1.3.1.0_NT_061009.1404.3984) and had 11g Studio 111 installed yesterday day.
When started 11g I was prompted to migrate my existing projects, I clicked yes. The migration returned with a couple of errors which I didn't quite understand.. Sorry I forgot to make a note.
Now I open my database diagrams all I have got left are the "note" items. What have happend to my tables and sequences? I went back to 10g I saw the same thing.
Is possible to recover the 10g diagrams in 10g/11g? Please advise
    Thanks in advance
    Hien

    Hello Hien,
There is a specific forum for 11g issues (JDeveloper and OC4J 11g Technology Preview ); however, it's documented in the release notes for the 11 technology preview that migration from 10g is not supported IN THE PREVIEW.

  • OIM 10g data migration

    Hi,
We have an existing OIM server with the below configuration
    OIM- 9.1.0.2 + BP11
    Weblogic server: 10.3.2.0
    OIM DB: 10g
Target resources: AD, ACF2, Lotus Notes, Remedy, Novell- e directory
    Trusted resource: ODS
We have to replicate this enviroment(with data) to a entirely new server.(different host name and db)
We have already installed the OIM on new server with the same configuration as above.
Can anyone help us with the proper sequence of migration
We have below entities in existing OIM
Adapters, UDFs, Process Tasks, Resource Objects, Scheduled task, etc.
    Thanks,
    Garima

run in below sequence at day 1
    1. disable access policy if any just remove the access policy from role.
    2. run trusted recon so that user will be created in OIM
    3. run manager mapping scheduler if you have else ignore it.
    3. run target recon for all the target systems so the existing account will be reconciled and linked with OIM->users.
    4. enable access policy if exist. I mean attach access policy to that role.
better approach, don't take import of Lookup.ADGroupReconciliation.Lookup and Lookup.OrganizationReconciliation.Lookup. create manually. Else you can drop all the content on dev machine of lookup and then export as well
    Hope you understand
