10g OCA certification

Is doing 9i 1Z0-007 or any exam a pre-requisite for doing OCA 10g certification?

Hi,
Is doing 9i 1Z0-007 or any exam a pre-requisite for doing OCA 10g certification? You need to pass one of these exams (1Z0-001 or 1Z0-007 or 1Z0-047 or 1Z0-051) in addition to 1Z0-042 to become Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certified Associate.

Asking for dumpsAnd remember that cheaters who are caught will lose their certification and perhaps lose their chance at any certification in the industry. Using Brain Dumps is considered cheating. Using Gunners is considered cheating. Passing an exam based on purely memorized material without understanding the material is as bad as cheating in the long run.

  • Reg. 10g oca certification

    Hi,
could any one please suggest me how to clear 10g-oca.
please specify the online docs that are useful and material which is helpful for preparation?
    where can we find dumps?

No one is trying to hurt you. We're trying to help you. The fraudulent activity policy that was linked to makes most of the "dump sites" illegal and allows Oracle to revoke your certification at any time if you're found using (or contributing to) those sites.
Of course, you're free (and encouraged) to use the study guides on the Oracle education site and the free Oracle documentation on OTN and at http://tahiti.oracle.com to prepare for the exam.

There are several different OCA certifications; if you tell us the one you want the choices get clearer; though in general one hopes the OCA candidate has some degree of ability to work it out for themselves; though a bit of confirmation is sometimes understandable as there is a lot of investment involved by some people.

  • Study material for Oracle 10g OCA certification

    Hi every one.
My Name is Ash living in Edmonton Canada.
Currently, I am trying to prepare to take the OCA exam. My study material is "OCA 10g Administration 1 Study Guide by Chip DaWes, Bob Bryta, Joseph C.Johnson, Mathew Welshan". I am not sure if this is the right study material. Could any body please give me a feed back, how I can prepare for the exam? Also I would to know if there a local oracle group in Edmonton vicinity

    Hello Ash,
I am also enrolled in an OCA course in the beginning of June 08, and I have used that, the Oracle Database 10g : Administration Workshop 1, and purchased the pass4sure CD.
I recommend against the pass4sure, only because the PDF's had some sort of security lock, and I was unable to open them, even though I legitimately purchased the product.
    Good luck!

  • Oracle9i/Oracle 10g OCA certification

I have worked on Oracle 9i database and i have basic knowledge about Sql commands and i am planning to go for Oracle 10g Certification does it make any difference if i do not take ORACLE 9i Certification and directly go on to do my Oracle 10g Certification .
    Help Me

You are very much eligible for writing Oracle 10g OCP, even if you have experience in Oracle 9i. What you can do is, read the Oracle 10g New Features, and then you will have both Oracle 9i & 10g knowledge.
    Best of luck.

Believe me, just for the certification sake you wanna be OCA?
I have come across of people who simply read test exam question, go to the testing centers and do pass the exams. What they really loosing here with this approch is that no confidence of their skills, not reading Oracle docs and testing the same, and when they face interview they had to find really some difficult question where there won't be any multiple choice list. This make the interviewrs or the concern person feeling that the OCA/P has really no strength.
I would rather keep myslef reading the docs and doing the R&D before I appear for the exam.
As you said, you don't want to spend much money for getting OCA, its like wasting your money completing an OCA, if you don't answer interviewer questions and didn't get the job.
I am not discouraging you, rather, trying to put you on some confidence ROAD.

  • Should I go for Oracle 10g OCA/OCP or 11g OCA/OCP Certification?

    Hi all,
I am lil bit confuse to decide about my oracle core dba certification.
Please help me to know, as per the present requirements of the business organizations.
    ***Should I go for Oracle 10g OCA/OCP or 11g OCA/OCP Certification?***
Hope u guys answer me earliest.
    Thanks & Regards,

Most likely, it doesn't matter too much. I doubt that most employers are terribly concerned with what recent version of Oracle you have a certification on.
    That said, if it matters
    - What does your organization use? What are their plans to upgrade? If your company still uses 9.2 primarily and has plans to upgrade to 10.2 this year, you're probably better off with a 10g certification. If your company is already running mostly 11.2, you're probably better off with an 11g certification.
    - What do most employers in your particular part of the world tend to use? What do job postings in your particular part of the world generally list?

Thanks in advance.- I assume you mean the 10g DBA OCA. You eed one of he SQL exams and 1z0-042 for this.
    - Read forum annoucement posts and FAQs
    - Visit [http://www.oracle.com/education/certification]
    - Visit [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=151] and drill down from there.
---- The exam course page also gives recomended oracle training.
    ---- See [http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2009/05/the_route_you_choose.html]
You should also evaluate why you are chooses 10g DBA OCA rather than 11g DBA OCA. There can be good reasons for this.
Please note that if you continue with the next DBA certiifcation on that route (10g DBA OCP ) you will need to have an approved attended a hands on course (for that certification) from an approved institution (Oracle University is the safest bet).

  • Oracle 10G OCA exam

hi anyone took oracle 10G OCA 1z0-042 exam?
Just want to ask for some advice and guide regarding the exam.
Is the OCA 1z0-042 exam questions more on situational, pl/sql commands or the concepts?

    Hi JrOraDBA,
I think what Hub is trying to say is that Testking is a braindump company and using them is considered cheating; and you can lose your certifications when you're caught using them. You sound like an honest person and you're right to want to spend your money wisely, it is your future you're trying to secure; correct? ;)
Before you jump into any training, study guides, mock exams, or anything of the sort, it would be best for you to verify that the websites you use are not going to put your certifications at risk. Here are some links that will help you:

ThanksIn terms of certification pre-reqs for DBA and PL/SQL OCA's you have an 1z0-147 which is one of the certification exams that satisfy that requirement.
Afer passing 1z0-047 you need to consider whether you should take a developer track or DBA track
From your posts you seem to consider 10g DBA OCA .... 11g DBA OCA would be better but if going down the DBA route your eventual goal should be DBA OCP ..... and that requires mandatory training and your may need to factor that in ... sometimes people may find workforce 10g DBA training is the more accessable to themselves.
As for the books, both the Sybex and Oracle Press exam focused books have their advantages and disadvantages and faults. Oracle Documentation remains the authorative source.

  • OCA 10g OCA 11g ?

I gained my OCA 10g certification in 2007, is there such a thing as an upgrade exam from OCA 10g > OCA 11g, or do I have to start the 11g track from scratch ?

However IMHO if you view the topics for 10g OCA and 11g OCA you will see about 75%+ commonality so its not like you have to start from scratch, more like 2/3 to 3/4 the way up the hill.
If your final target is 11g OCP then you are obviously aware you could go 1z0-043 + 1z0-050 or 1z0-052 + 1z0-053 ..... with a hands on course being required either way. I don't wish to advise on which route would suit you best.

  • Preparation for Oracle 10g OCA and OCP exams

    Hi all,
I am studying for my first Oracle 10g OCA exam. Thus far, I have the Transcender exam prep software and book from Oracle Press for the OCA/OCP exams with Oracle 10g. With a test Oracle 10g database to practice on while I study, am I on the right path?
    Thanks

Use the http://education.oracle.com OR http://otn.oracle.com as your portal - you'll see the Certification link on either one. From the Certification page you will be able to drill down to the objectives and requirements of the exam. I suggest you use that as a checklist, as the various books and sample exams have been known to include mistakes or miss items.
In addition, you should be familiar with the first few chapters of the Oracle Concepts manual and also, preferably, the first few chapters of the DB Admin Guide - both available from http://tahiti.oracle.com
