10g OCP hands on Requirement

Hell All,
Is it okay to have this (Oracle Database 10g : backup and recovery) course as hands on course to fulfill 10g OCP credential?
from below website i can see they have given it in the list but one of Oracle Office, to whom i'm communicating is not sure though.
Actually they have not (Oracle Database 10g : backup and recovery course) displayed it the main list but just below the list, there is SHOW/HIDE text, in that list they mentioned it saying if you do it for OCP exam then you cannot use it for OCM.
Bit confused. Any clarification would useful.
BTW i'm enrolling for LVC( Live Virtual course).

Regards!

I've enrolled for LVC course http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getSchedPage?page_id=4&dc=D50367GC80 starting on 25th Jul-2012. Price 750 USD Apprx.
Yes, you can clear 1z0-042 first and then complete the course.
I Cleared 1z0-042 and 1z0-043 first and now enrolled for the above course.

    Hi,
I recently cleared 1z0-051 and 1z0-052 and awaiting OCA certificate.

    Hi,
I recently cleared 1z0-051 and 1z0-052 and awaiting OCA certificate.
    Congratulations.
Can any one please assist and guide me on how to proceed to 1z0-053 as Oracle University in my area is not offering any 11g course yet; they are still offering 10g courses?
    Thats unfortunate ...
Can I confirm you have checked ...
and checked your country and selected course schedule. I dont know what your country is but i see both India and Saudi Arabia are offering 11g courses.
You could try contacting your local Oracle university by phone, other options might be a Live Virtual Class instructor led course which i believe still satifies the requirement, or attending a course out of country / area.
I do not see any 10g course on list of courses for 11g hands on:
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=244#5
    Agreed.
My question is, should i invest on 10g hand on to pursue 11g ocp?
In my opinion probably not. But I dont know your exact situation.
One option would be to sit 1z0-042 .. ( i think the topics are 80% common with 1z0-052) , so if your head is currently filled with 1z0-052 then its possilby not too difficult to adject to 1z0-042 ... checkout the topics. You could then take 1z0-043 , take 10g training to get your 10g OCP, then take 1z0-050 to get your 11g OCP. Thats a long way round and a lot of exams to get to 11g OCP from where your are, and if you've not much experience of earlier versions of Oracle you might want to stick with 11g so you dont get confused between slight differences between the two.
Another thing to note is that the 1z1-053/1z0-053 has today 30-jun-2009 finished beta ... so it will not now be possilble to take 1z0-053 until the production exam is released which should be sometime in september, and you may want to plan round that.
If you really cant see any 11g courses , and have contacted your local Oracle University, then you could go to [www.oracle.com/education/certification] and look up the FAQ's under support and if your're really stuck then use support/contact-us.
    thanks and kind regards,

  • 9i OCP hand-on requirement fullfillment

    Hi ,
I have completed all the 4 oracle exams for OCP from prometric. For the hands on requirement I am trying to submit it through Pearson VUE and in the last screen it is asking for a 7 digit enrollment number.where as the training partner where I took the training has given a longer alpha numeric registration number.
Any of you know a solution to this please let me know.
    Thanks in advance,
    Balaji

    Hi Brandye,
Thanks for the information , you were spot on I completed the course submission form as suggested and it got approved quickly after the verification.
I have one more question for you , I have also completed the "1Z0-040-Oracle Database 10g: New Features for Administrators" exam. But certview only shows my 9i OCP and the 10G OCP is not showing up.Does it involve any other prcocess to acquire the 10G OCP.

  • Reg: Hands on Requirement for OCP Certification in 10G

    Hai all,
I am called Prabhu Prashant.R I Live in India(in Chennai). I've passed OCA in 10G and waiting to attend OCP. I am preparing by myself. but you all know that Oracle is insisting to complete a Hands on Requirement Course for certification Purpose. My question is should I complete the course only from OU or can I complete that course in any of the Workforce Development Partner. If there are any one existing in India, learned people please provide me the name of them. I could not afford OU courses because It costs a Hefty. Please Help!!!!.

You can take a required course not only at Oracle University, but also from the Oracle Authorized Center.
See the details from the following links

  • OCP 10g exam prep class requirment 3000$

After OCA 10g, To appear int OCP 10g exam, requirment is that one should attend the preparation class which cost 3000$, What if one can't afford this, Is there any way to skip this class or attend some other prereq.....

(I would like somebody to correct me if I am wrong in my understanding)
While it is an absolute must that you should attend a hands-on session from Oracle University as a 10g OCP requirement, It is NOT AN absolute must that you shell out $3000 USD. You can pick your course. See below for more details.
    http://www.oracle.com/global/us/education/certification/dba10g_ocpcoursereq_approvedlist.html
Here, you will find that, If you are looking for a cost-effective option, and don't care which course you go to, but also satisfy the OCP 10g course requirement, go with
"Oracle Database 10g: SQL Tuning Workshop" which is only $1800 USD ! (Well, only is not a good word to use here....however fits best in this context !!)

  • 9i OCA to 10g OCP Certification

    Hi,
I am an OCA (Oracle 9i). I have passed my first exam on 01st july 2002 of IZO-001 and Fundemantals 1 in 2004. I am planning to move towards 10g and complete my OCP certification. I have few questions related to this.
    1. I have to appear in Admin1 and Admin 2 module of 10G to complete my OCP cerftification for 10g. Is this true?
    2. Do I need to take any course from oracle university in order to get certificate from oracle? As I read from website that there is an exemption for the applicants who have passed their first test before 01st September 2002. Please clear this point as I have passed my first exam before 01st september 2002.
I shall be really thankful to you for your quick and favorable response.

With regards to the hands on course exemption ......
    My understanding is ...
    - Is that at least previously people who had taken a (relevant) certification exam prior to 2002 were exempt from the 9i DBA OCP hands on course.
    - (I have now found the relevant page below):
    - However my understanding is they are not exempt from the 10g DBA OCP hands on (so to obtain 10g DBA OCP without a hands on course they would need to go via 9i DBA OCP first).
    - So my understanding is to obtain a 10g DBA OCP (given a success with 1z0-001 prior to 2002) you would either:
    1) Take 1z0-032 and 1z0-033 (and submit a 9i DBA OCP hands on course exemption for exam pass prior to 2002)
    - Then as a 9i DBA OCP take the exams required to be 10g DBA OCP (eg 1z0-040 (or 1z0-042 + 1z0-043) )
    2) Pass 1z0-042 to 10g DBA OCA
pass 1z0-043 and submit appropriate hands-on-course exemption for 9i DBA OCP.
    Reference:
The page [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=99#1] indicates how to submit a hands on course exemption for 9i DBA OCP. I recommend you do this immediately to confirm your position (I cant see any harm in doing this).
------ I also recommend you register on Certview to confirm your exmption has been accepted.
Please note this is my best understanding .... th Certification Forum Moderator may choose to comment or you may wish to confirm with ocpexam_ww. However I my reading of the above reference under the section Candidates who are exempt from the Oracle9i hands-on course requirement because they took their first exam on or before September 1, 2002 seems to be clear enough.

  • 9i to 10g OCP certification

    Dear all,
I have 9i OCP Certificate and I have done 1Z0-040
Oracle Database 10g: New Features for Administrators.. , Now what should I do attain the 10g OCP certificate ?.. I understand that
Hands on course requirement is not needed for this ?.. How can I proceed to get this certification ?
    Thanks
    Kai

    Kai,
I understand that Hands on course requirement is not needed for this ?Correct.
How can I proceed to get this certification ?The testing center will send your exam results to the Oracle Certification Program. All results are processed once a week. Once all the certification requirements within the track you are pursuing have been complete, including submission and approval of the Hands On Course Requirement Form (if required), you should receive your certification success kit within 6-8 weeks. The Success Kit will include a personalized certificate as well as instructions on how to obtain your Oracle Certification logo. If you do not receive your Oracle certification success kit within this amount of time, please send an email to [email protected] and provide your name, Oracle Certification Program credential earned, Prometric ID number, current mailing address, and daytime phone number.

Should the institution you mention not be authorised for WDP the big issue it is it would not have fulfilled your hands on requirement for DBA OCP.
    ( see: [http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2009/04/are_you_getting_your_training.html] )
An authorative answer should probable be given from WDP contact earlier.
My suspicision (only from reading between lines on this forum ... and no other source) is WDP has had a recent shakedown and some institutes are just re-registering.
Therefore it will probably be all ok you you.
If not contact ocpfraud_ww with cc to ocpexam_ww to confirm your training is good to satisfy hands on.

  • OCP 9i Certification Requirements

    Hi All,
i had finished all the following exams
1z0-007,1z0-031,1z0-032 and 1z0-033 along with all the below courses
    ILT - Training
Oracle 9i Introduction to SQL Course
    Oracle 9i fundamentals I Course
    Oracle 9i fundamentals II Course
    Oracle 9i Performance Tuning Course
i have submitted the Course Hands-on Requirements Form and it got Approved From Oracle on 26/06/2012
currently i'm an OCA 9i and still i'm not able to see my OCP on Certview , am i missing something here?
is there any more courses or training i need to attend or exam to finish?
    kindly advise,
    Samer

If the course just got approved on June 26th (yesterday), then I believe the only thing you're missing is time. Give them a couple of days, maybe even a week if you're feeling particularly generous, in order to get all of the records updated.

  • Hands on requirement ahead of test

Every time I take a test, I see my test results on Pearson site in 24hrs and another 24hrs later on Certview site. I saw my certification status as OCA on Certview site right when my exam results showed up as PASS under exam history.
I have submitted my hands on requirement well ahead of my tests and I see that as PASS under exam history. Now I see the test required for OCP on Certview site under exam history, it shows as PASS and still the certification status as OCA.
What I wonder is: Just because I submitted my hands on form before fulfilling the exam requirements, am I supposed to resubmit the hands on requirement form?
    Thanks

In order to speak to your specific situation, we would need your Oracle Testing ID so that we could look up your account in CertView. Please do not provide that here. You can contact [email protected] if you need assistance on your specific issue.
In general, however, you only need to submit the course form once. And it is fine to submit it before passing your exams. It will show up in your CertView profile as an 'exam' with a 'pass.' But a certification will not be granted until you have passed the required exams

I am waiting for my OCP 10g certificate. I completed the Oracle exam 1Z0-040 on Dec 1,2010  and its been more than 2 months now....
    I completed Oracle 9i OCP in 2007.
Please let me know why i dint receive the ceritifcate (or anything is needed from my side) and when can i receive the certificate.
There is no reply from Oracle for couple of my mails.

Please guide me...I want this certificate..

    DB wrote:
    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
I have already registered my details with certview. Sorry, I dont like getting sympathies from anyone.
    I figured out the issue.
Since I completed Oracle 9i OCP with prometric and did 10g OCP with pearson, details of my 9i OCP are not reflecting in Pearson VUE.
I dont remember the prometric id.
But once i get the prometric Id, Can you please let me know how to merge the 9i OCP details in pearson VUE site?
    Thanks,
DBOK. .... No sympathy then ;-)
    However .....
It may (or may not) be you are suffering from having taking exams under two Oracle Testing Id.
What should have happened is that when you registered with Pearson VUE for your exam you existing Prometric Id should have become your Oracle Testing Id. If however you were allocated a new Oracle Testing Id then the exams will be against two different Oracle Testing Id's, and it will be as if 2 different people have taken the exams.
Please note exams passed under Prometric will never be shown on the Pearson VUE system .... however exams taken under both Pearson VUE and Prometric will show under Certview. So it is Certview where you need to look.
If you look under Certview and only see some of your exams, in particular those from Pearson VUE and not Prometric (allowing for lag of a week after you pass them), then you probably have taken exams under two Oracle Testing Ids.
    To Summarise:
    1) If under Certview you can see all of your exams .... then you do not have a problem of having two or more Oracle Testing ID's.
    2) If under certview you can see all of your exams, but you do not have the certfications awarded you expect, then there would appear to be a problem with the pre-requisites Certview (and the Oracle Certification database) thinks you need and you think you need.
    3) If under certview you can see your exams under Pearson VUE, but not under Prometric, then you probably have taken exams under two Oracle Testing Id's. You need to establish both of these and follow the procedure for + I have taken my tests under two different candidate IDs. How can I get these merged? + under the FAQs.
Basically certview helps to confirm if the certification was actually awarded (and a little investigation should show why it was not) or if the problem was a shipping error.

  • Hands on requirement for java certification

which java certifications do exactly have an hands on requirement?
    because if i look here
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=320
it says i just need to take the exam to become certified. other certifications have assignments and more exam but nowhere is an hands-on requirement listed (that i could find)
however if i look here http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/show_desc.redirect?dc=D61748GC10
it says "This course counts towards the Hands-on course requirement for the Java SE 6 Developer Certification. Only instructor-led inclass or instructor-led online formats of this course will meet the Certification Hands-on Requirement. Self Study CD-Rom and Knowledge Center courses DO NOT meet the Hands-on Requirement."
So my question is where exactly can i find which certification has which hands-on requirement. i wouldn't want to start on the self-study (or a non-official course) just to find out that i need the real course to get my certification.

  • Which 10g OCP book ?

There seems to be two books available for Oracle 10g OCP study:
"OCP: Oracle 10g Certification Kit" by Sybex and
"Oracle Database 10g OCP Certification All-In-One Exam Guide" by Oracle Press.
Does anyone have any exposure to these books and have recommendations as to which one is better ?
    thanks,
    Philip

If you want to add knowledge along passing exam then those books are good. If you are looking for material which covers important topics to pass the exam, I recommend oracle instructor lead material. If no chance of getting this material, use sybex book. Its pretty good to pass the exams.
