SEVERE: OUI-10207:There is not enough disk space. This error may be present at the Open VMS Itanium platform at it is due to bug 5981203 "OUI CALCULATES AVAILABLE DISK SPACE WRONG" and bug 5580279 "OUI FAILS WITH OUI-10207 ERROR". It is fixed in 10.2.0.3.0
As a workaround, use a logical diskname or the volume name and not the physical device name

Oracle 10g client installation on OpenVMS 8.3 Itanium

I am trying to perform the installation of Oracle 10g client installation on OpenVMS 8.3 Itanium. I am getting the OUI (Oracle Universal Installer) window up and as soon as I click the "next" button it errors. The error is:
SEVERE: OUI-10207:There is not enough disk space on the OUI swap area /dsa50/temp/OraInstall2007-06-05_06-19-23PM. Please make at le
ast 9MB of space available and retry.
The disk for the oracle installation temp location and home location are in different directories on the same ODS-5 formated disk. The disk has approximately 251711296 free blocks.
The trace.log located in the <oracle_home> area shows the following:
in ssGetVolumeFreeSpace
in ssGetVolumeFreeSpace:before getFreeSpace:DSA50
Vol name is DSA50
Disk name is [.DSA50]
Disk=, Free blocks = 3362
in ssGetVolumeFreeSpace:after getFreeSpace:3362
returning from ssGetVolumeFreeSpace
The "temp" disk is DSA50.
Has anyone seen this issue with installation of the client on a large disk?
Are there any suggestions on what to do to correct this issue?

Compiling error ORA-00600 with Forms 6 and Database 10g

Hi,
I am using "Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.4.0" and "Forms [32 Bit] Version 6.0.8.26.0 " with patch 17, when i compile a form that works with some tables in another database under dblink the error ORA-00600:internal error code, arguments:[16203],[],[],[],[],[],[],[] is displayed.
If i word with reports or sqlplus no error is displayed.
Before we installed 10g everything worked ok
What is wrong with forms or do i need to configure something else?

ORA-00600 and ORA-07445 errors are the most esoteric errors in Oracle.
There is a tool called ORA-600/ORA-7445 Troubleshooter available at Metalink. It asks for the first argument of ORA-600 error with an optional database version number.
For example, to see the description of the error:
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [723], [25908], [25908], [memory leak]
You enter 723 in the ORA-600 First Argument field. The first argument is a pointer to where in the code the error was caught and thus is the key information in identifying the problem.
You can also embed (copy/paste) the Call Stack Trace there, and, when you click on the Search Call Stack button an advanced MetaLink search is performed to find documents containing relevant sections from the call stack.
Call Stack extracts from the following files are supported:
* Generic foreground and background server trace files located in background_dump_dest and user_dump_dest
* OpenVMS NETV2 and BEQ log files located in ORA_ROOT:[NETWORK.LOG]
* WINDOWS CORE.LOG files
* GDB (debugger) backtrace call stacks (best endeavors)
Of course you will need a login to Oracle's Metalink site.

Oracle 10g on VMS

Guys,
Need some input on can we install Oracle 10g on VMS OS.
Actually we have an application running on VMS and DB is RDB.
Planning for migration to Oracle. Needs to know will Oracle be supported in VMS or do we need to move the scripts too to UNIX or someother OS.

Oracle 10g on VMS with TCPWARE

All:
I am trying to upgrade from Oracle 9.0 to Oracle 10. (Oracle 9 works fine for me, but I need the latest patches)..
The system is running OpenVMS Alpha, using Process Software's TCPWARE. Oracle states that it only officially supports UCX. For various reasons, switching to UCX/DEC Tcpware is not a good option.
With my current version of TCPWARE (5.5-3), the installer will not even start (I am getting tcp/ip level errors). I can upgrade TCPWARE to the latest version, but don't want to go to the time and expense to do this if it won't help. Has anyone out there installed Oracle10 on a VMS AXP system with TCPWARE?

Getting Oracle RDB 7 database into 10g howto

Hello,
We have an old database in Oracle RDB 7 on an older OpenVMS system that we would like to somehow import into a new Oracle 10g database running under Unix. I'm familiar with OpenVMS and Unix, Oracle 8i and later, but don't have much of a clue about Oracle RDB, which seems a complete different product.
So far I found out that export and import in Oracle RDB are completely different from Oracle 10g in terms of compatibility and unction. Perhaps there is some way to use RMU/Extract under RDB? Can the complete database be saved in e.g. text delimited or other suitable formats? Whatever I do however must not change anything on the original RDB database.

(I have never worked on RDB but) I just carried out a brief search on internet regarding Oracle RDB 7 and it seems it can be exported using ODBC (however, the options are limited).
I would advise you to get in touch with Oracle support or Oracle RDB provider. May be they can help you out with this.

Oracle in OpenVMS cluster environment

Hello,
I'm about to install Oracle Server 9.0.1.0.0 on a 2- member node OpenVMS cluster running OpenVMS 7.3-1.
I wonder if anyone knows if there are considerations about the installation, any gotya's ?
I have tried to search about the issue on the Metalink, but without any success.
It would be nice to know how Oracle behaves in a cluster, are there any builtins in Oracle or does OpenVMS cluster sw handle all the stuff ?

if you are using 11g then you just need to copy the rpd on to a shared folder and in EM just provide the path for the same. So when you restart the OBIEE services it will automatically copies to local machine folders (/repository) and even the online changes made gets reflected in the same way.
If you are using 10g then you just need to copy the RPD on both the local machines and if you make any online changes it will get reflected to master server and file get copied over to shared folder so you need to restart the secondary server inorder to reflect the online changes to the RPD of 2ndary server using shared folder

How to connect Oracle Database to applications built upon HP COBOL deployed on the OpenVMS Alpha, OpenVMS I64 and OpenVMS VAX operating systems.
Also, currently the customer is using flat file system for data handling and according to the prodcut documentation:
"With HP COBOL, Oracle CODYSAL DBMS database programs can be used for the connectivity to Oracle DBMS. "
Need help to know how to establish this connectivity and what added components be used for such situation.

One would need to open an SR requesting it. And to do that, one would need a paid-up extended support contract for 10g.

We are trying to determine if Oracle Streams in 10GR2 for OpenVMS has all functionality advertised implemented. The 9i release did not meet the customer expectations.

I also wonder the feedbacks on this thread since on Solaris we tried to implement a change data capture - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14223/cdc.htm#i1028295 based etl for our data warehouse, but during proof of concept work we faced lots of problems; some had workarounds, some are documented as bugs and patches for operating systems are on metalink, but some didn't have any solution, so the project management decided that cdc is an imature product on 10gR2.
Although the product is working fine when your needs dont get complicated asw mentioned on below two great cookbooks, especially on hr demo tables :)

Report developed in 6i and open and run in 10g, Web Layout is not working

Initially reports were developed in Reports 6i now we need to convert into 10g. I just opened the .rdf in Reports10g. Report is successfully running in paper layout and showing the data. But when i try to run the report in Web Layout im getting a BLANK INTERNET EXPLORER SCREEN. Why is it so? What should i do to run my report successfully in Web Layout? When i see Web Source, i am seeing the below code,

NULL and Unspecified in Dashboard prompts after upgrading 10g to 11g OBIEE

Hi All,
We are working on OBI upgradation project from 10g to 11.1.1.6.5. We are facing one issue in Dashboard prompt level. If we can create Dashboard prompt on a column, its giving "NULL", "Unspecified" additionally. But, in 10g there are no extra values.
And the 10g, 11g instances are pointing to the same database and there are no NULL, Unspecified values in Database level.
Through some blogs and articles we found some solutions n are below.
To remove NULL:
-->Go to the Physical Column properties in Physical Layer and Disable the Nullable option by uncheck the box.
-->Go to the Database Features in Physical Layer and disable value to NULL_SUPPORTED.
-->Go to Edit Dashboard Prompt, in Choice List Values drop-down list select SQL Results.
To remove Unspecified:
-->Go to Edit Dashboard Prompt, in Choice List Values drop-down list select SQL Results, then write the SQL statements as columnname is not equals to "Unspecfied" ( In this way we can able to remove Null's also.)
-->Go to Content tab of LTS, in Where clause write an SQL query to restrict Unspecified values.
Note: CHeck with ETL, because if they maintains the Default value is Null when the Datatype is Character and they can maintain 9999 or #### if the datatype is Numeric. And check the Physical query and debug it carefully.
But, we have very big Repository and we have huge no.of Dashboard prompts. So, its not an easy thing to manage by using above solutions. Correct me if there are any mistakes in above.
Any ideas on this...?

As of now, i found the only solution for the above mentioned issue that how to avoid NULL in dashboard prompt level:
Go to the Physical Column properties in Physical Layer and Disable the Nullable option by uncheck the box.
