10G on oracle core download

Is the download 10g version restricted from network access? I cannot connect from Oracle Client on another machine

Thanks I got it figured out. The error was no TNS lister on the Win client in EM. The problem was with the Hosts file on the host, which was addressed in an earlier post to this forum

    We have tried by using the on-line procedure and changing the required script to make believe it as said.

  • Reinstallation of oracle 10g on Fedora Core 2

    Dear Oracle community,
    I tried to install Oracle database 10g software (Enterprise-edition) on
    my PC (Fedora Core 2) in two steps. At first the software only
    (as described in
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/OracleDB10gInstallationOnFedora2.php)
    and then (using dcba) the example data base "sales".
    The first step was succesfully. The second step has led to a "freeze" of
    my computer. Input became impossible - so after running about 30 minutes
    (100% CPU usage) I stopped my computer switching the power off.
    Now I deleted the whole installation of Oracle manually as far as
    possible (as far as I know/found the changes). Afterwards I tried to
    reinstall the software. This was now impossible - the same "freezing"
    effect happened now already in the first step. What are the reasons
    for that? Can you help me to solve the problem?
    I fear that some configuration files might be now corrupted and I have to
    reinstall Fedora2 to be sure that nothing else is damaged.
    Up to now I was only a user of a Oracle data base - it is the first time
    that I try to install Oracle.
    I have read the forum stuff about installation of 10g on Fedora Core 2
    but do not find remarks for my problem.
    Here are further details which could be important:
    My PC has 2 processors and 2GB RAM and 2GB swap space.
    The PC is located in a small Intranet and gets its IP-address by DHCP.
    LINUX is installed (Fedora 2, kernel 2.6.5-1.358smp), as well as
    a Web-server (httpd-2.0.51-2.7.rpm),
    Java (j2sdk-1.4.2_05-fcs.rpm) and
    tomcat (jakarta-tomcat-4.1.30-LE-jdk14.tar.gz)
    (perhaps there is some disturbing interaction between installed
    Java-version and the Java-Version supplied by the Oracle software?)
    I followed the instructions in the installation description given in the
    above mentioned web site but with some minor changes:
    - /etc/hosts:
    127.0.0.1 obox local_host.local_domain
    192.168.2.3 oracle.home obox
    - instead to create a directory in which the Oracle software will be
    installed:
    mkdir -p /u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.0/db_1
    chown -R oracle.oinstall /u01
    I created the following:
    mkdir -p /opt/oracle/10.10
    chown -R oracle.oinstall /opt/oracle
    - The .bash_profile of the oracle user I modified a little bit:
    # Oracle Settings
    TMP=/oracle/tmp
    ORACLE_BASE=/oracle/oradata #
    ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/10.1.0
    ORACLE_SID=Test1
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib:/lib:/usr/lib
    # after installation I've seen that I forgot a colon between /lib and
    # /usr/lib in LD_LIBRARY_PATH - perhaps this is a reason for hanging
    # of the computer installing the example database "sales"?
    CLASSPATH=$ORACLE_HOME/JRE:$ORACLE_HOME/jlib:$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/jlib
    # after software installation I did not found $ORACLE_HOME/JRE but
    # $ORACLE_HOME/jre - and I changed the CLASSPATH
    - the following part I transfered to /etc/profile
    if [ $USER = "oracle" ]; then
    if [ $SHELL = "/bin/ksh" ]; then
    ulimit -p 16384
    ulimit -n 65536
    else
    ulimit -u 16384 -n 65536
    fi
    fi
    - In a first step I installed only the Oracle Software without any
    problems (but with the error in the definition of LD_LIBRARY_PATH and
    CLASSPATH respectively)
    - I performed the post installation steps except that I did not change
    the content of /etc/oratab because I did not want to start Oracle
    automatically starting the computer
    - Then I started the dbca to create the data base "sales". I could enter
    all wanted parameters (I named the data base "test1" to be conform
    with ORACLE_SID . Then dcba started the creation of the data base
    but did not end (hanging)
    - I looked for possible errors, corrected the definition of CLASSPATH
    and LD_LIBRARY_PATH respectively and wanted to reinstall Oracle
    - I applied the following commands to delete all (???) data files
    created in the installation process
    rm /etc/oratab
    rm /etc/oraInst.loc
    rm -R /etc/oracle
    rm /usr/local/bin/oraenv
    rm /usr/local/bin/coraenv
    rm /usr/local/bin/dbhome
    rm -R /opt/oracle/10.1.0/*
    rm -R /opt/oracle/oraInventory
    rm -R /oracle/tmp/*
    rm -R /oracle/oradata/*
    - now (after restart of the PC) I wanted to install the Oracle software
    anew. After specifying ORACLE_HOME and running a script as root the
    OUI started to load and unzip files from the installation directory
    Disk1 and runs in an endless loop (about 66% of the work was done).
    - After restart of my PC I made a second trial and already after the
    input of the first parameter the OUI runs in an endless loop
    - the endless loop: 2 java instances were running using 100% CPU
    and input by keyboard was not accepted.
    Many thanks in advance
    Klaus!

    Hi Klaus,
    Have you had any luck in resolving this problem. It sounds like the exact same problem I am having

  • Guide to Oracle 10g - 64 bit version download

    I have the book "Guide to Oracle 10g" for my Oracle class and there are 2 discs in the back. These contains a 32bit version that will not install on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
    I was wondering if someone could please point out the file(s) I need to download so I can install this on my computer to do homework on. The instructor informed us that the version on the disc allowed a computer to act as both the client and server.
    Thanks in advance.

    Your first link points to the page where the second link points to a file. Is that the only file I need?My first link points to all Oracle Database download files (11gR2, 11gR1, 10gR2).
    From the second link you can download 10.2.0.3 -- http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/10203vista-087538.html
    As mentioned in the second link, you will have to "After installing Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3), install the 10.2.0.4 patchset or higher, which can be downloaded from My Oracle Support. Oracle Database 10g Release 2 is supported on Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 with the 10.2.0.4 patchset or higher. If installing on Windows 7, then 10.2.0.5 patchset or higher must be used.". Please note you need to have a valid username/password and CSI number to access the download page from My Oracle Support (MOS) website -- https://support.oracle.com
    If you have access to MOS website, you can find the list of patches (10.2.0.4/10.2.0.5) in (Oracle Database Upgrade Path Reference List [ID 730365.1]).

  • Oracle Database 10g or Oracle 10g Express Edition

    Hi Friends,
    I have worked on Oracle 9i but now I would like to work on Oracle 10g but confuse because there are more option for download.Which one should I go for?
    Oracle Database 10g or Oracle 10g Express Edition ?
    Or Any other option.
    Any Suggestion are welcome.
    KarTiK.

    It all depends on what exactly you are planning to use oracle for. Depending on the version, there may be found or not some features, you can see it this way:
    EE > SE > XE
    EE is a superset of SE and SE is a superset of XE. So you will find several limitation on the XE edition.
    However, even though XE is a very limited version, it cannot be underestimated, it can be used for Spatial Data projects, it works with spatial data locator, and there are several guides that show how to use it with PHP so you can start a web site. WebPLSQL is included with it, so the only limit is your creativity.
    This version can be very useful, and you can make the most of it, you may be interested in reading this article Oracle Database 10g Express Edition: Not Just for Learners
    by Lewis Cunningham.
    The XE edition is free. So you can use it without license fees and is the best suitable tool for learning, it is easy to install and setup. You can have a fully functional XE database out of the box. Once you feel more comfortable with oracle technology you can start thinking about taking the next step to a SE or EE edition.

    My Oracle Support ... and only if you have a paid-up support contract.  Actually, I'm not sure 9i would be available even then.  10g is only available to those with a paid-up sustaining support contract.  9i is so old (hasn't been supported in this millennium) I wouldn't be surprised it is not available at any price.  Further, I doubt it was ever certified for RHEL 5.  Hard to tell since the documentation isn't even available .....
    Just out of curiosity, why would you be needing such an antique?

  • How to connect oracle forms 10g with oracle 10g express database?

    Hi all,
    I have downloaded and installed oracle forms 10g and oracle database 10g express, when I open net configuration assistant to test local net service, I tested the default service (EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA) BUT THE RESULT IS "ora-28547 connection to server failed probable oracle net admin error"
    How can I solve this issue?
    My tnsname.ora is located in c:\DevSuiteHome\network\admin\tnsnames.ora, and its contents is:
    # tnsnames.ora Network Configuration File: c:\DevSuiteHome\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
    EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = nour-pc)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = PLSExtProc)
    Edited by: user10228498 on Jan 21, 2011 11:37 PM

    I copied the contents of C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\NETWORK\ADMIN\tnsnames.ora and appended it to C:\DevSuiteHome\NETWORK\ADMIN\tnsnames.ora
    and tried net configuration management to test local net service, the test was ok, thus the first problem resolved.
    but the login problem in forms developer still exist and it claims that: ora-12154 tns could not resolve the connect identifier specified.
    any ideas?

  • Custom RTF templates in Oracle Core Contracts ..

    Hello:
    We want to create custom RTF templates in Oracle Core Contracts along with custom data templates.
    We do not want to use XSL-FO templates since we are finding this too complex to work with ... also the fact that the XML data is being generated by some internal OAF processes that we cannot control.
    This is unnecessarily too complex for us.
    Can we create our own reporting using XML -Publisher and integrate it in the system ?
    Any thoughts on this would be appreciated ... Yesh

    Srini:
    I did read those pages and unless I am missing something .. it is basically saying the follwing:
    Copy the seeded XSL-FO templates and make changes to them and then upload them back. I have no real access to the xml data since it is somehow pre-generated. I do not have a choice of using RTF templates along with the ease of Word based formatting.
    The above process goes against the way in which we can write our own reports in XMLP:
    (a) Create our own data templates (use our own SQL)
    (b) Create our own layout templates (using RTF or XSl_FO)
    So I am stuck into undertsanding .... OAF, Java API's ,etc that I should not have to understand to generate a report ...

  • Could not load Logmanager "oracle.core.ojdl.logging.ODLLogManager" error while starting the Admin server

    Hi,
              I installed weblogic 12.1.2.0.0 with RHEL5.6.  After the installation, I tried to post the following class path in setDomainEnv.sh file under the domain home directory,
    POST_CLASSPATH="/prosun/jasper/jasperreports-3.6.0.jar:/prosun/jasper/commons-digester-1.7.jar:/prosun/jasper/log4j-1.2.15.jar:/prosun/jasper/org.apache.commons.beanutils_1.6.jar:/prosun/jasper/org.apache.commons.collections_3.1.jar:/prosun/jasper/org.apache.commons.logging_1.0.4.jar:/prosun/jasper/iText-2.1.0.jar:/prosun/jasper/groovy-all-1.5.5.jar"
    While i am  trying to start the Admin server, the server didn't started and following exception is reported in nohup.out file.  Please help me to resolve this issue.
    The above library jars are required for our applications.

    hi, you should not do nothing with user root.
    please, don't use root again for weblogic administration.
    list all files with root permissions:
    move to Middleware Home, example: cd /u01/app/oracle/Middleware
    find . -user root
    if there are files with root permissions, change it to oracle:oinstall
    I saw this:
    Could not load Logmanager "oracle.core.ojdl.logging.ODLLogManager"
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.core.ojdl.logging.ODLLogManager
    Please check in DOMAIN_HOME/bin/setDomainEnv.sh file if exist this:
    JAVA_OPTIONS="-Djava.util.logging.manager=oracle.core.ojdl.logging.ODLLogManager ${JAVA_OPTIONS}"
    export JAVA_OPTIONS
    MWCONFIG_CLASSPATH=${FMWCONFIG_CLASSPATH}${CLASSPATHSEP}${COMMON_COMPONENTS_HOME}/modules/oracle.odl_11.1.1/ojdl.jar
    export FMWCONFIG_CLASSPATH
    if exist, replace for:
    JAVA_OPTIONS="${JAVA_OPTIONS}"
    export JAVA_OPTIONS
    if not existe, its necesary for you to use /prosun/jasper/org.apache.commons.logging_1.0.4.jar in your classpath?. If it isn't necesary delete it, and restart the AdminServer.

    I am taking a guess that 'Dept' is where the employee works, so that will be the column 'NAME' in the table HR_ALL_ORGANIZATION_UNITS; you will need to join with this table on the assignment's organization_id value
    Edited to add: Whilst you're testing this, you might want to consider removing the table PAY_ELEMENT_ENTRIES_F from the table list, otherwise you can look forward to potentially large cartesian product of returned rows!

  • Oracle 10g vs Oracle 11g query performance

    Hi everyone,
    We are moving from Oracle 10g to Oracle 11g database.
    I have a query which in Oracle 1g takes 85 seconds to run, but when I run the same query in Oracle 11g database, it takes 635 seconds.
    I have confirmed that all indexes on tables involved are enabled.
    Does anyone have any pointers, what should I look into. I have compared explain plans and clearly they are different. Oracle 11g is taking a different approach than Oracle 1g.
    Thanks

    Pl post details of OS versions, exact database versions (to 4 digits) and init.ora parameters of the 10g and 11g databases. Have statistics been gathered after the upgrade ?
