    I have come up with the message below when I click on setup.exe to launch OUI.
    Using paramFile: C:\Oracle_Setup\stage\Components\oracle.swd.oui\2.3.0.10.0\1\DataFiles\Expanded\bin\win32\oraparam.ini
    Checking requirements...
    Checking operating system version: must be 4.0, 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2.
    Actual 5.1 Passed
    Checking monitor: must be configured to display at least 256 colors.
    Actual 65536 Passed
    Checking if CPU speed is above 300 MHz.
    Actual 3006MHz Passed
    All requirements met.
    However, when the checking requirements process is done,
    there's pop up window titled "Java Virtual Machine Launcher" saying "Could not find the main class. Program will exit".
    I have tried to change the location of JRE in oraparam.ini file for searching the main class. But it does not work. Please help. Is this because my oraparam.ini does not indicate the location of the main class required for the JVM launcher?
    Thank you very much

    Thanks for the help. However, I am not sure what you meant in your answer.
    Let me show my oraparam.ini file below. Please let me know if there's anything to be changed in the file. Thanks a lot.

    OS is installed clean, not contain previous oracle.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Volker

    try this:
    " If OracleCMService9i or the OracleService<SID> fails to start check that the interconnect is using a hub or switch of some type. In many cases, use of a crossover cable can lead to hangs because when there is loss of electrical connectivity to a NIC, it is sometimes disabled on systems running Windows NT/2000. This can also lead to an increase in time that it takes to initialize the card on a reboot. This depends on the HW platform, but in general, Oracle recommends always using a switch or hub for the interconnect, so that some type of connectivity is maintained with the Private NIC. Note: You may also be able to avoid this by disabling Media Sense in Registry, but a switch is preferred. See MS Article#Q239924 for details on disabling media sense.: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q239924 This applies to all Oracle versions."

    Hello,
    are you trying to install the client by some other user which is not owner of oracle:dba group?
    this will genrally happen when you have different owner or manually changed the permissions.
    Please check your /tmp directory for any files releated to ora:DBA may have a soft link check permissions thier.

  • CDC and OWB 10g R2 installation error

    Hi,
    We are using CDC (Autolog) and OWB 10g R2 for the warehouse. We have CDC installed and up and running on the database. I then try to install the OWB 10g R2 repository using OMBPlus and it fails with this error message:
    OWB repository installtion failed. The Warehouse Builder repository owner instal
    lation failed on user OWBRO.
    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1

    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_CDC_IPUBLISH", line 12
    ORA-06512: at line 5
    I cannot find any documentation related to this. Has anyone attempted this and has this worked?
    Thanks

    I figured out that the OWBRT_SYS had been created incorrectly. When I dropped the user and recreated the repository, this problem disappeared.

    Hi frnds
    I am getting the following error while running 10g clusterware installation.Actually i done the ssh setup mentioned in the oracle doc.Generated both keys (rsa,dsa) on both nodes and copied these 2 files from both nodes to authorized_key file and copy this file to both nodes and ran $shell and ssh-add.Whenever i logs and run this SSH User Equivalency on node1(from where i run oui) and its persisting with other sessions but if logoff and logon i have to run the $shell and ssh-add to enable it.My dought is whether this ssh have to enable always or only while using OUI to install and applying patches cos this Equivalency dont need to run on second node correct ?

    Hi
    thnks for that but when i run that exec $SHELL and ssh-add again in one session i can do ssh it other sessions without any problem but if i logoff and login it will reset to back.Whether this ssh have to enabled on first node(where i run OUI) always irrespective of logons and logout or whether i have to start any services ?

    Please help me with this problem.
    Thank you
    Ravindran Kanniah

    It is because of UNIX shell. I also faced this error during installation.
    First check your shell by the following command.
    $ echo $SHELL
    Then select the below.
    For csh shell
    $ setenv DISPLAY 192.168.1.128:0.0
    $ export DISPLAY
    For sh,ksh and bash
    $ DISPLAY=192.168.1.128:0.0
    $ export DISPLAY
    After you do this check the value of DISPLAY variable.
    $ echo $DISPLAY
    If the DISPLAY variable is set then run ./runInstaller.
    One advice: Keep a complete log of your terminal session. This will help you in future :)

    I had the same problem and solved it by doing the following:
    Do not stop the DBCA to do this.
    Go to Start->Control Panel-> Services -> oracleserviceyoursid and start the service. That will get you through that error.
    Just in case you see this one as well....I did encounter a TNS error after that. I resolved this by commenting out (#) the line SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=(NTS) in SQLNET.ORA file.
