Oracle 10g RAC installation on HP-UX 11.31 for SAP ERP 6.04

Dear experts,
We are trying to install SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 with Oracle 10g RAC on HP-UX 11.31. Please note that, We are using VERITAS cluster filesystem (CFS) for this purpose and not HP-UX ServiceGuard ClusterFileSystem.
*As per SAP procedure, we have installaed plain plain SAP system with single instance Oracle (ref: Configuration of SAP NetWeaver for Oracle Database 10gRAC guide). Now we are first trying to install Oracle Clusterware (CRS) and then we will install Oracle RAC software. Is this procedure right?*
Which file (and its path) we have to use for CRS installation and its patch? Is it runInstaller under /oracle/stage/102_64/clusterware? With this file we can install CRS 10.2.0.1. Similarly for Oracle RAC, which files we are supposed to use, i.e for installation and patch upgrade?
Also can we use clusterware package available from Oracle directly in the SAP environment?
We tried to install CRS with runInstaller while running Configuration Assistant after root.sh script.
The following commands are failing in Configuration Assistant:
/oracle/CRS/102_64/bin/racgons add_config erpprdd1:4948 erpprdd2:4948
/oracle/CRS/102_64/bin/oifcfg setif -global lan1/20.20.20.0:cluster_interconnect lan0/192.168.3.0:public
/oracle/CRS/102_64/bin/cluvfy stage -post crsinst -n erpprdd1,erpprdd2
1st command does not give any output if run manually.
2nd commands o/p: PRIF-12: failed to initialize cluster support services
3rd commands fails in every check
Please suggest the solution and expecting answers to the above mentioned questions.

You can go for combined os migration and db release upgrade also at a stretch with the same downtime.

De-installing 10g RAC on Solaris 10

Hi,
Does anyone knows how to manually de-installing 10g rac on solairs 10?
I did not following the correct steps to de-install RAC from the RAC installation Guide.
I need to reuse this host for non-rac 10gr2 on different ORACLE_HOME.
./localconfig reset $ORACLE_HOME
Oracle CSS service would not start as installed
Automatic Storage Management(ASM) cannot be used until Oracle CSS service is started
cat ./log/wchost/alertwchost.log

Asm, instance and service failing to start 10g rac redhat el5

hi,
i have been following a how to guide from oracle's website about implementing a 10g rac system using el5 (http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/hunter_rac10gr2_iscsi.html), by the end of the installation and setup I had both the nodes up and running and all services were up and running. Then under the root account I rebooted one of the nodes. now when I check the status of the services I get this:

srvctl start asm -n rac01and it starts but the instance and service on the rebooted node still wont start. is there a log file which tells me what the error is when it tries to start the instance? what can I do to ensure that if a node is rebooted that all of the services get started correctly and the node automatically rejoins the cluster (i thought I had set all of this from the instructions of the guide I was following).

What do you see AUTO_START?
if 1 = auto start:
or check error ASM while start... at ASM_HOME/log/rac01/racg/*
If AUTO_START=2
Oracle Clusterware is configured to start the VIP, listener, instance, ASM, database services and other resources during system boot. Starting with 10.1.0.4, it is possible to modify some resources to have their profile parameter AUTO_START set to the value 2. This means that after node reboot, or when Oracle Clusterware is started, resources with AUTO_START=2 will need to be started manually via srvctl. Please work with Oracle Support if you need to modify this attribute.
If AUTO_START=2 and need to change to 1:
Example:
$ crs_stat -p ora.rac01.ASM1.asm
NAME=ora.rac01.ASM1.asm

Looking for this notes/articles...

There is one best practice document available from Oracle RACSIG site and "Oracle Real Applicaiton Cluster Administration and Deployment Guide" available on OTN is also good source of informaiton about 10g RAC.
Oracle has made sincere efforts in 10g documentations expecially in server technology.

Configring and instaling 10g RAC on two Nods win 2003 Local Area

I want to configure and instal 10g RAC using three database server on difirent network groups (Head office , processing, stitching). i am unable to configure ip etc. ip address is as:
work group ip address computer name
HO 192.168.0.29 maindb
processing 192.168.1.92 procdb
stitching 192.168.1.92 stichdb
Please guide how i can configure and user hosts file in windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

10g rac on solaris

Dear all,
We are in the process of installtion of 10g RAC on solaris.
As far as i studied,
OCFS cannot be used in Solaris
Only 3rd party cluster file system can be used
if no 3 party cluster file system can be used,we have to use ASM
Is there any other options for this ?

Job Scheduling on Oracle 10g RAC

If I want to run job on Oracle 10g RAC database having 2 instances suppose n1 and n2 separately and both instances are working/using same Service Name then how could i do this ??
or how to use SID instead of Service Name in Job Class ???

If you are a newcomer to the DBA, I would strongly suggest to invest at least time(if not money for training) in reading documentation related to fields in which you are working. For RAC, this should be a good start( V10.2) ,

10g RAC upgrade

We are planning to install 10gR2 RAC on Sun solaris 10 with Veritas and Hiatchi SAN. After that, we would like to upgrade 9iRAC database to 10g RAC.
We tried once, the CRS install was okay.
But, we couldn't bring dbua up ( We made sure Xwindow setup is fine etc.. ).
Can somebody share the environment variables to, set before we start DBUA and also during CRS install.
Also, if you have a good document to upgrade 9iRAC to 10gRAC on Sun solaris with Veritas.

Perhaps you are hoping someone else will steal that copywrited material and send it to you? Is that what you are asking?I think your initial response is little bit excessive (IMO). OP didn't say that "Somebody steal the content from metalink and send it to me please". He might requesting specific note id for appropriate document which describes installation in "instant" form.
But do you really think, for even one minute, that anyone who has invested many hundreds of hours into creating a training class is going to send you their materials for free?Somebody called "Linus" and many others invested many hundreds of hours to create OS which you are using for free (and you are recommending it in your posts)... ;-)
What if there is some altruist which could provide the such complex paper for RAC?
Your third post is correct and I absolutely agree with you (except last sentence).

you can look to get inspired at "DBA" articles on OTN website (http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/tech_dba.html#linux) or RAC SIG site and compare it with official documentation or metalink notes. Only documentation and metalink notes are 100% assurance that your installation/configuration will be supported. And in case of doubts you still can contact Oracle support and consult planned steps/implementation.

Slight oversight in the Concepts guide regarding external tables

Taking a look at the section in the Concepts guide on external tables

The line "External tables are read only; therefore, no DML operations are possible" is not strictly correct in 10.2, since you can insert into ORACLE_DATAPUMP external tables as the document goes on to discuss: "Oracle also provides the ORACLE_DATAPUMP type, which lets you unload data (that is, read data from a table in the database and insert it into an external table) and then reload it into an Oracle database." I assume the read only restriction is mentioned here because it was true in 9i and did not get corrected when Oracle introduced the ORACLE_DATAPUMP option in 10g.

Hello again. Development replies that the documentation is technically correct. We do not allow DML operations (insert, update, delete, merge) on external tables. For ORACLE_DATAPUMP, we do allow a "CREATE EXTERNAL TABLE ... AS SELECT ..." operation, but, this is DDL, not DML. This operation just populates the external table with data initially. No DML operations are allowed to modify the data, and indexes cannot be created on an external table.
If you agree that this is the case, then I'll get the documentation clarified along these lines. If you have experience (test cases) that contradict this, please let me know, and I'll follow up further.
