10g Reports Problem

We have our application ported to 10g. After we run some reports the application server is throwing an error "REP-56055: Exceed max connections allowed: 20". We have tried increasing the maxconnect parameter in the $ORACLE_HOME/reports/conf/repservername.conf file and it works but again gives the same error after some time. Then we have to restart the reports server again. The problem what I feel is that once a report is run completely it is not getting disconnected from the reports server, due to which even if there is a single user running the reports then after the specified no of max connections the app server is throwing the same error.
Please give some suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

Hi All,
Hope YOu are fine.
We have running Oracle Forms and Reports Services 10g on Windows 2000 Advanced Server.
The Application Works fine, and reports are generated successfully.
But when we access the same application by using either Linux OS (RHEL 4.0, Ubuntu 6),
The forms works fine but Linux OS could not run the report.
This seems to be a configuration problem.
Any Clues.
Thanks and Looking Forward.

  • 9i reports to 10g reports problems

    When we changed over to the 10g reports server all of our reports in 9i no longer work. This is the most common error we receive.
    REP-52006: Failed to decode the specified URL %1
    Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    We do not use the keymap option. We pass all parameters to the report via the url. Will this cause a problem with passing %? Also, we do not use a DEFAULTCHARSET in the rwservlet.properties file. Could this be the problem?
    Here is one error we get:
    REP-50003: Bad command line: ps_tirnoadf= destype=cache ps_respoffc=TORAPER ps_eiacodxa=xxxx report=xxxxx.rdf userid=xxxxxx/[email protected] desformat=pdf ps_tirorgby=
    Or we get this error:
    REP-52006: Failed to decode the specified URL %1
    These reports work when called from a 9i server and do not work when called from a 10g server.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Oracle 10g Reports Server - problem authenticating against DB

    I have a problem with Oracle 10g Reports server authenticating against an Oracle RDBMS.
    When I try to run reports, an authentication form screen is presented, with the password field empty (the URL in explorer that loads this page contains the username and DB instance, but is missing the password) and the following error message:
    REP-51018: Need database user authentication
    When the password is entered into the empty field in the form and submitted, another 2 authentication errors are given.
    REP-51018: Need database user authentication
    REP-12545: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
    When the URL in the browser location field is manually altered to include the DB password, the reports are authenticated fine.
    Any ideas which config file I should be looking in?
    Any pointers would, of course, be much appreciated.
    thanks,
    Brian

    Hello, i finally have discovered what was happening, it has to be with the way FreeBSD passes the password field. By default FreeBSD passes the password field with a '*' while Oracle Linux (and Red Hat clones) expect an 'x' to look into shadow maps (Linux uses the '*' character in the password file to not allow login to that user).
    To solve it the password field served by the NIS server must be substituted, which is accomplished with nsswitch.conf and adding a line to the /etc/password file on the NIS Client, so the final files will look this way:
    # nsswitch.conf (compat directive allows us to use the '+' sintaxis in /etc/passwd file)
    passwd files compat
    # /etc/passwd (just add at the end of file)
    +:x:::::

  • 10g Report to file causes unix permission problems

    I'm in the process of testing out one of the new options of 10g reports to have a report run from the command line and have the results file sent to a Unix directory for further use.
    Here is a sample of my run:
    http://myserver:port/reports/rwservlet?server=myreport_server+report=myreport.rep+userid=userid/pswd/@db+desformat=pdf+destype=file+desname=/tmp/my_report.pdf
    The results I see in the Unix directory are:
    rw-r--- 1 oracle dba my_report.pdf
    With the Unix permission set to 640, how does a user outside of the owner or group read this file. Is there a setting in a 10g environment variable somewhere to set the permissions to 644 so others can read the file?
    Thanks,
    Tom Vereecke

    Unfortunately i couldn't open your example as i only have LV 6.0, but i looked at the 'Save report to File.vi' in LV 6.0 and it basically only contains a 'Write characters to file.vi' for file handling. In LV 6.0 this vi does contain a 'Close file+.vi' which has an input called 'close when? (now:T)'. Make sure this is wired as True (default) and the file will close, and you should be able to delete the file (as long as the delete event occurs afterwards (make sure it is wired in sequence). In the LV help, it says the reason for the 'Write characters to file.vi' only closing if you tell it to (set as default) or if there is an error is so you can continually use it in a loop, writing characters to file, without closing, and then send a command to close
    it only on the last loop, or if there is an error. Therefore i dont think it is a bug, but i think there should be a wire for it on the 'Write characters to file.vi'.
    I hope this helps you..

    We recently converted all of our 6i form and reports to 10g. We had forms and reports running as batch processes.
    Now that we are using 10g it is understood that we cannot run the forms as we did in 6i using OEM scheduler, so they were converted to scripts.
    Our problem still remains, How do we run 10g reports as batch processes?
    Can we use OEM scheduler?
    Is there a better product to accomplish this task?

    Hello,
    How do you execute your Reports ?
    Do you execute it from the Builder ?
    If you execute it from the Builder, do you use Run Web Layout or Run Paper Layout ?
    (If you have upgraded a Reports From 6i, there is no web layout , so you have to use the Run paper Layout
    The web layout is something new that appeared in Reports 9.0.2)

  • 10g Reports open blank tab in Firefox

    We're testing a 10g forms/reports application and the forms work fine in both IE and Firefox (Tested 6, 3.5 and 3.0 - same behavior) but when calling a 10g report from a form Firefox just opens a blank tab.
    No error message. Doing a View Source on the tab shows no code at all.
    The report opens fine (It's a PDF report so it either opens Acrobat within an IE tab, or in an stand-alone Acrobat window, depending on the Acrobat preferences) in Internet Explorer 6,7, and 8 but it's just Firefox where we're having this behavior.
    Any ideas?

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Showing Oracle 10g reports in Dashboard?

    Configuration:
    Oracle Business Intelligence Release 10.1.3.4 on Windows 2003 EE R2
    Oracle 10gR1 on Windows 2003 EE R2
    Problem:
    We have to show Oracle Reports 10i in Oracle Busines Publisher.
    Resolving failure:
    Conversion of current reports to "xdo" and placing them to Reports directory was successful but each report has to be additionally edited (originally was invalid). Beside that editing, conversion generated a lots of packages because all logic is in reports and not in database (sorry but thi si cost of previous programming techniques) so our database will look like a polygon of naming conventions in package part.... And at the end if we accept all that...direct connection with source report is lost so any change to original Oracle report has to be separatelly managed in BI. After mentioned facts we decide this is not acceptable.
    So now we as how to place direct link to original Oracle 10g Reports, which should be placed in Dashboards. Any thoughts on this or any additional suggestion is more then welcome...
    Regards,
    Damir Vadas

    1) when generating a report you can use a "save in directory" method. Refer to your helpfiles, how to do it
    2) copy the question in the report-forum, if 1) didn't help you

  • Printing Oracle 10g Reports in Line Matrix Printers

    Hello!
    I encountered problem when printing a generated report in Oracle 10g Reports to a Line Printer. When the report is in PDF format, the fonts when printed on line printers become scattered and the orientation of the report rotates 90 degrees. If I use HTMLCSS format, the pages are not of fixed size. Please help me.
    Thanks in advance.

    1. Setup CUPS Printing Environment in Linux / Unix (on many modern Linux systems, CUPS is the default Printing System at the moment). The details of setup / build of CUPS is beyond the scope of this article. For details, please visit CUPS sites and documentation :
    http://www.cups.org
    http://www.cups.org/doc-1.1/sam.html
    The setup of CUPS is complete for our purposes, once you are able to print PDF documents directly from unix shell as follows :
    $ PRINTER=yourprinter
    $ export PRINTER
    $ lp test.pdf
    OR
    $ lpr test.pdf
    * The "yourprinter" above should be substituted with the name of your printer queue defined in CUPS and "test.pdf" is any pdf document available on this server.
    2. In reports.sh, set the following parameter and restart the Report Server:
    REPORTS_CUPS_PRINTING=YES; export REPORTS_CUPS_PRINTING
    3. Setup PDF functionality (including Font Subsetting / Embedding etc) to display the output as required in PDF format. To check this, run the report with the option "...destype=cache&desformat=PDF...".
    4. Run the report with parameters "...&desformat=PDF&destype=printer&desname=yourprinter&...."
    This way, Reports Server generates a PDF file in cache and sends it to CUPS printer queue, ie the "desformat=pdf" option is no longer ignored with "destype=printer".

  • Can we call 10g Report from Form-6i???

    Hi buddies.....Can we call a report developed in 10g reports from a 6i Form using Run_Report_Object???

    Hi,
    you can run the reports in 6i. There won't be any problem. I have checked with the RDF file.
    I don't know whether the REP file which is generated in 10g can be opened in 6i or not.

  • Fonts when sending Reports via Printer Option (10g Reports / Redhat 5)

    When I send a Oracle 10g report to the printer, which PPD file is it using? The printer you install on the server or the one in ORACLE_HOME/guicommon/tk/admin/PPD directory?
    I installed a printer on the Linux Server and copied the file to the ORACLE_HOME/guicommon/tk/admin/PPD directory. I added some new fonts in the PPD so that the report would pick some Windows fonts that didn't exist originally on the Linux. I installed the fonts on the server and am able to see them in PDF Output options on the server.
    When I send the report with the same parameters to the printer directly, it doesn't see those fonts. I only modified the PPD for that printer on ORACLE_HOME/guicommon/tk/admin/PPD directory. So I was wondering if I have to do it on the installed server file as well or not.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Chris

    This was a response that I received from Oracle Support. Basocally, I'd have to install the font in the internal printer memory to get this to work.
    Is there a way to send a Report to PDF in Oracle Forms and then at the same time once that PDF is generated, send it to the printer (without user interaction). That would take care of my problem. That would take care of my printing issue. I know PDF's work and I know I can print them displaying the fonts just fine.
    Support Response:
    Fonts need to be present in the PPD file as well as the internal printer memory .
    Reason is as follows.
    1)Based on PPD file , Font metrics will be used to create thye PS file with the correct font names.
    2)When the PS file is sent to the the printer, actual fonts are not sent . Note that this is a limitation of Oracle Reports PS driver on unix and . Hence, it is required to have a printer that has the fonts installed in its memory/system.
    Currently there is an internal pending enhancement request to upgrade the Postscript driver of Oracle Reports

  • 10g report won't run in 11g

    Hi,
    I'm trying to migrate some reports from our 10.1.2.0.2 app server to an 11.1.2.0 one. The report I am currently working with compiles and runs fine in 10g Reports Builder, but when I copy it to the new 11g middleware server and try to run it, it gives me the following error:
    REP-1247: Uncompiled program units exist.
    REP-1247: The report contains uncompiled PL/SQL.
    There is no uncompiled PL/SQL in the report (that I can find), however googling this error it appears there could be something else wrong. I have been unable to get Developer 11g working on my workstation and I can't find a script to compile the report on the 11g middleware server. I am using a .RDF report and not a .REP one. Can someone help me troubleshoot this problem?
    Thanks
    Adam

    Hi,
    you can try the following options
    1- Run the report passing RECURSIVE_LOAD=no as parameter and see behavior
    2- To compile all the reports you can use rwconverter and a windows script.
    Example
    @ECHO OFF
    REM WINDOWS COMPILE REPORT
    ::compile_report.bat
    cls
    Echo compiling Report .....
    for %%f IN (*.rdf) do (
    <YOUR ORACLE_HOME>\bin\RWCONVERTER.bat USERID=user/pass@db BATCH=yes STYPE=RDFFILE SOURCE=%%f DTYPE=REPFILE OVERWRITE=NO
    ping 1.1.1.1 -n 1 -w 20000 > nul
    ECHO FINISHED COMPILING
    Hope this helps, Roberto

  • Calling 10g reports from ADF_BC Application

    Dear All;
    Good day to you;
    I have an ADF_BC application, and at the same time i have 10g reports compiled and placed on forms and reports server,
    i want to call reports from my application as needed, i can put a hyperlink with the link to the report, and it is working fine,
    but i want to know how to change the link to be dynamic, since the application is deployed on 1 application server, and the rerports on the other
    in addition i need, to know how to send parameters
    i am unable to change the properties of a hyperlink in the code, and i do not want to change it in scriplet
    any idea, or tutorials will be most helpful
    thank you

    Hello John;
    Thank you for your reply;
    Yes i am using JSF, i am working on JDEV 10.1.3.30, i deployed my application to srvanweb2 a server we have, where the application server port is 7777,
    and i have deployed my reports to srvanweb2 with port being 7778,

    my problem is, if i want to embed the link to the report as a common HTML hyperlink it would work, but if i want to set the value for this hyerplink dynamically to be able to add parameters on run time i would have to do it on the scriptlet level, and i can not do it in a bean, since i can not call the hyperlink set value, or even the get value, so my question what should i use to create a link which will change in a bean as you said and be able to call a differnet instance which is srvanweb2:7778, and send parameter

  • Sorting in 6i and 10g reports

    Hello All,
    I am running 6i and 10g reports against a 10g database.
    I ran one of the 6i report and it generated a report in one sorting ordear
    and when i ran the same report on 10g ,it generated the report in ddifferent order.
    Both the reports r run against the same 10g database.
    The order by clause on the columns of the records r identical.
    Now i wanted to understand how it is sorting in different orders in both 6i and 10g reports?
    Thanks,
    Ranz

    Hi,
    Please note the fact that 6i Reports is not certified to work with 10g Database. Hence it becomes impossible to address the sorting behavior of 6i Reports, though there is nothing different in the way it works. I would suggest you to use 10gR2 version of Reports services with 10g Database which is certified and supported. Thanks for your understanding.
