10g XE on Windows 7 RTM 64-bit?

I know... I know... I'm willing to run at my own risk. I'm just looking for tips to get this running resonably on my W7 64-bit box.

Well, having come across this post I may as well put some information up for others.
I have successfully (although not without issues) installed Oracle XE on a Windows 7 Professional 64 bit laptop.
The install works just as you would expect it to for any other windows installation.
I will make one important note here however.
If you are running Apache and plan on handling Oracle services using a web language (e.g. PHP) that runs through Apache. You MUST make sure you DO NOT install Apache into the default directory structure (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Apache Software Foundation\Apache 2.2\...etc).
Why? Well, it would seem that Oracle doesn't like directory paths that contain any "()" brackets. The connection string that is generated through the web language is basically wrong, throwing an ORA-06413 error "Connection not open".
Apparently, however, I have read that there has been a patch released for this (maybe not for XE edition...)
Hopefully this will assist someone else.

If i run the following command from an administrative command prompt (bin64): atisetup -install -output screen
The installation will seem to succeed according to the repot but Windows sticks to Standard VGA adapter and the annoying "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 (Microsoft Corporation WDDM 1.1) " Driver.
Have anyone been able to install the Catalyst driver and get an external monitor to work?

I see by your post that you need the drivers for Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. I would like to help.
I checked the website and there is a Full Feature and Basic driver available for Windows 7 64 bit. HP LaserJet 1022n Printer Drivers. Did you try both of these drivers?
I would try and install the preinstalled Windows drivers, if you are having issues using the downloaded drivers on the site with your Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Run the Add a printer wizard from Devices and Printers.
You could also plug and play the drivers. Connect the printer to the computer and see if Windows will detect the printer and install the drivers automatically.

Oracle 10g install on Windows 2003 Server 32-bit

As far as I can tell there doesn't appear to be an Oracle10g download for 10.2.0.4 for Windows 2003 Server. It looks like you have to download 10.2.0.1 for Windows then apply the patch to bring it up to 10.2.0.4. Am I seeing this correctly or am I missing something?

Indeed you are; your eyes are definitely not lying to you. 10.2.0.4 is a patchset which can only be applied to an already existing Oracle Home.
You might want to try and understand a little bit more about what the 10.2.0.4 means by accessing the links below.

X200T Windows 7 RTM 64 bit multitouch drivers -where to find?

I just installed 64 bit Ultimate on my X200t 7450 but my Tablet screen is not functioning seems the multitouch screen drivers are not there, where can I get them? (not on the Win 7 lenovo beta driver site)

My freind welcome to HP forum. What are you doing? My freind you have the right ideal but going about the wrong way. Please follow my direction to the tee. Click on start button then go to all programs search box . In the search box type in recovery manager. Now above it will be listed now open this one up. Select Software Program Reinstallation click next in next window bing go list is now open now at a time select your software. Now you have selected software to you see that button on bottom of list called Next click it. Bingo Presto! Please follow wizards commands. You can only install one program at a time so repeat steps as many time it takes.
Now for divers do the same steps above but this time select Hardware Driver Reinstallation.
If for some reason this should fail then I suggest you do a full recovery from recovery disc you made because your (D Drive is corrupted. By sounds of in your post it is. Or you can order a set of recovery disc from HP's parts store. ORA-12560:TNS:protocol adapter error on windows 2008 server(32 bit) for 10g

I am installaing Oracle 10g database on windows 2008 Server(32-bit) and when the Database is getting cretaed and during the database files copying portion it's throwing the error :
ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
I tried intsllaing 10g software alone and invoked DBCA and again during the database files copying portion it's throwing the same error
what could be the issue?

Installing Application Server 10g R2 on Windows Server 2008

Hi all,
I want install Oracle Application Server 10g R2 on Windows Server 2008 ( 64 bit).
It always prompt error "ORA-12560: TNS Adapter error", when I try to install Oracle Application Server Infrastructure 10g.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Basically use for internal web server only. I'm not sure can I use Oracle weblogic 11g instead of OracleAS 10g R2. I'll use some of the components like Oracle HTTP Server, Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE(OC4J), Reports Services, Forms Services, Metadata Repository for Oracle Application Server Middle-Tier and etc.

Windows 8 RTM - iTunes Store login no longer saved

In Windows 8 RTM release that is now genarlly available I see that the iTunes Store email is no longer stored between program launches. Should it be like this?

Windows 8 has not been officially released and iTunes does not currently support it.
Wait until October when Windows 8 is officially released.

ORA-00020 and Ora-12519 error contineous in 10g Enterprise on Windows 2003

Hello Experts,
I have Oracle 10g installed on windows 2003 server (64 bit), No issue with Storage (1TB) x5450 @3 GHz and 16 GB RAM.
DB size is approx. 9 GB.
We are facing this isue again and again. We tried to restart DB and after some hours we see the same issue.
I check the Processes and session on INIT<SID>.ora file and was confugured to 750 each. I also check the no. of Inactive process (thru SYS login) and it shows me 728-729. Nos. of backgroung processes are 20.
Can some expert show me the path to get success on this issue asap? This is PRODUCTION server and we can not reboot as many times as we can (you understand) :-).

Oracle gateway for Oracle 10g DB on Windows 64 bit server

Is there any place that I can find Oracle dateway for Oracle 10g DB on Windows 64 bit server? I can only find Gateway for Oracle 11g on Windows 32 bit server. Please help me to identify this. Thanks.

Thanks a lot. The link tells the details. It seems that Oracle has not release Gateway for Oracle database 10.2.0.x on Windows 64 bit server. Probably they don't do it.
So under this circumstance, if I want to install Gateway (32 bit) on Oracle 10.2.0.3 DB on Windows 64 bit server for Teradata, I probably have to install Gateway software in another Oracle Home, then configure it right. Please give more advice on this. 32 bit Gateway will work for 64 bit database?

I could see the installation went fine, but I don't see any "Oracle_HTTP" windows service getting created.

I have not installed on this OS but I'm betting the service is a different name.

As already stated in one of your other threads, it is not a certified combination. Again, read the Installation Guide !
If you want to play with it and try to make it "work", that's up to you. And as you say you have already tried, with "no success", it seems you already got an answer.
I suggest you close this thread and continue in the dedicated 10g XE forum thread (or try the 11g XE Beta - only for 32-bit Windows yet, but there's a chance the general release will be aimed for Windows x64 as well).

Oracle Forms 6i(32-bit) = Oracle database 10g R2 Windows 2008 R2 64-bit)

We have Oracle database 10g R2 installed on a Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 (64-bit) (SERVER1)
We have Oracle Forms 6i (patch 4a) installed on a Microsoft Windows XP Professional (32-bit) (SERVER2)
I am not able to connect from SERVER2 to SERVER1, either through SQLPLUS or FORMS BUILDER.
Its giving some DLL error.
Is it because forms 6i (32-bit) cannot connect to a 64-bit database on a 64-bit OS ?

There might be problems with 8i clients (like forms 6i) if the database uses AL32UTF8 characterset indeed (if you need unicode and you need to run forms 6i use UTF8 instead) but this should not be related to the platform of the database.
The platform of the database server really should not matter as the forms runtime talks via SQL*Net with the database server and in the end it does not matter if the database runs on linux, windows whatsoever or unix 32 or 64 bit for the client. The only problem you'll encounter is that SQL*Net also changes with versions and thus "older" clients might not be able to communicate with "newer" servers and vice versa.
