10Gb module uplink for 3750x switch issues

Hi All,
We build a network consists of 3 x 48 ports 3750X switches and this network is uplink to the Core with 10GB uplink.
We bought 3 x 48 port 3750x with 10GB modules plus enough10GB SFPs.
The problem is for the 10GB module , we can only have 2 x 10GB SFP connections or 4 x 1GB sfp uplinks.
How do we get around with the 3rd switch which need an extra 10GB uplink to the core ?
we do not want to buy another 3750x switch and stack to the third switch to give it more 10GB ports.
Any solution is much appreciated.

3750X's ARE on both the LMS3.2 support list and the LMS4.0 / 4.01 support lists.
As you mentioned, applying the latest device support package will add them to the fold.

Hi,
I would agree with the comments above, first the modules are hotswappable, so they are designed to be able to be installed in a running system,however it is always preferable to not install modules in a running environment due to the risk of damaging the connectors.

3750 Stack Switch Issue

Hi
I have Stack of 7 3750 Switches. In that Switch 1 is master with 15 Priority and other switches are Member but because of some reason switch 1 rebooted and then Switch 2 becomes Master because it’s having 14 Priority.
We have 2 uplinks which connected on switch 1 (1/1/1) and switch 6 (6/1/1) Tengig port. Also we have 4 AP connected on switch 6.
So we observed that the Switch 1 came up and after that 3 AP is disconnected from WLC. if we disconnect the uplink port on Switch 1 (1/1/1) AP will connect the WLC and using uplink 6/1/1 but if we connect uplink port 1/1/1 and disconnect the uplink port 6/1/1 all 4 AP will disconnect from Network.
We try to connect the Uplink 1/1/1 to Switch 1 other port 1/1/2 but face the same issue. So we reconnect the port 6/1/1 and used the same link which connect on 1/1/1 to switch 7 (7/1/1) and AP will connect on WLC. So as per this troubleshooting we thought some issue with Network Module or Switch of Switch1.
So we Swap the Network module between Switch1 and Switch7 and connect the uplink on 1/1/1 but face the same issue and if we connect the same uplink on Switch 7 Ap connect to WLC.
So we thought that Switch is having issue. But before raising an RMA for Switch we observer 1 more thing that. Earlier that when the Switch 1 is Master all 4 AP's connected to WLC and working fine but when the Switch1 became rebooted and Switch2 became Master issue started. So we rebooted the Switch 2 and make switch master and found that while connecting on port 1/1/1 of Switch port AP's are able to connect to WLC and Issue resolved.
So I wants to know that is there any requirement that If the high priority switch rebooted and after came up it should not be Master then connected uplink will not work.
Also let us know what’s happen if the high priority switch came up in network. Means it’s will became Master or Menber.

Just now i Found one bug which is matching on our issue.
3750x stack fails to update ARP table after reboot causing traffic loss
BUG ID:-CSCtz98066
Symptoms: When the master switch (Switch A) is reloaded or loses power and
rejoins the stack as a member switch, any traffic stream being sent through
Switch A is unable to be received by the destination because the newly joined
member is not able to establish an ARP entry for the next hop router/switch.
Debugs confirm that Switch A does not send a GARP/ARP for the next hop, though
traffic continues to be sent to the switch.
Conditions: The symptom is observed when only Switch A has a physical
connection between the source and destination router/L3 switch. The newly
elected master (Switch B) does not.
Workaround: Ping destination from Switch A, forcing ARP request/response.
Also affected version is 12.2(58)SE and15.0(1)SE2 and we are using IOS 12.2(58)SE.
So we are going to upgrade the devices by this weekend with IOS 15.0(2)SE5.
Will update you once we upgraded the switches.

Cisco 2960XR uplink to 6509E switch won't work

I have recently purchased a Cisco WS-C2960XR-48LPD switch, which I am unable to connect back up to my 6509 switch. The only thing I can think of that might be an issue is the fact that the uplink type for the 2960 is 10Gig and the line card back on the 6509 is a 1Gig SFP line card. So, I switched to a 1Gig SFP module in the 2960 switch but to no avail. I then placed the 10Gig SFP back in the 2960 and tried to connect to the Sup2T's 10Gig GBIC uplink connection but still this did not work.

SFP information
The type of SFP that the 2960 switch came with is a SFP-10G-SR, which is a 10 Gig SFP module. This does not work.
Type of SFP being used with the 2960 switch for testing is a GLC-SX-MM sfp, which is a 1 Gig SFP module. This does not work.

1. I agree with Glenn. Cisco SFP/SFP+ modules only have one speed. So your two modules must match or the link won't go up.
2. Depending on the type of line card you are using, the configurtion for Gig 2/3 is missing the command "switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q". You do not need this command in the 2960XR.

Cisco 3750X Switch, Observing change in Running & Startup Config

Hi,
I have a cisco catalyst 3750X switch running with c3750e-universalk9-mz.152-1.E1.bin, where I'm able to see the running configuration & Startup configuration on the device is not in Sync even after saving configuration to the NVRAM.
Startup Configuration is the one which is required for my network to work properly, but as I'm able to see running configuration is adding some of the configuration which is not actually required in the template. Can anyone help me to get this issue addressed.

Can you try this command:
Switch#copy startup-config running-config
And then check if you are still face the same issue?

Cisco 3750x switch. Turning off a port at night

Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding power management for the Cisco 3750x Switches. Is it possible to power down switch ports
automatically at a specific time and if so how. I would like several Ports to be powered down between 2 and 3 o clock at night.
Can anyone tell me how i can realise this? (these switches have Energie Wise capabilities)

few things to try:
Go to your email setup, go to the account in question, go to filters, Check the box that says "do not forward messages to the device" Set this back to the default if this doesn't work.
Something else: try using the blackberry firewall

Switch in 3750x switch reset

I have a 3750x switch stack of three switches.
One of the switches has reset 2 times and rejoined the stack.
Everything appears to be working fine except that every port light is flashing green light.
No one touched mode button.
Is this a warning of some kind?

The people at the site say there have been no power surges but I agree that is seems like power is the problem.
Switch 2 is the master now so I cannot do a session 2.
switch 1 was the original master and it has only been up for 5 days.

3750X switches - get the port duplex by SNMP

Hello,
I'm trying to get the 3750X switch port duplex state by SNMP. It looks like the only available OID is portDuplex, but this is for operational duplex, not the admin duplex.
So, if the portDuplex shows full(2) for a port in SNMP, you can't tell if the port is hard set to "full" or auto-negociated to "full".
As oposed to the CLI, where a "sh int status" command will show "full" for the hard-set ports and "a-full" for ports that auto-negociated to full.
For port speed, it looks like "portAdminSpeed" OID does the job.
So, my question is, using SNMP, how can I tell if a port's duplex is hard set or not??

Hi,
How to check whether its stack cable problem or stack port problem on respective switch.
Most of the time the issue is the stack cable and not the port. Try inserting the cable all the way into the slot. With 3750x switches the slots are narrow and some times you need a flash light to look to make sure the cable is in all the way.
If I change the stack priority on switch 2 and switch 1 , do I need to reboot whole the stack so that new priorities for switch 2 and switch 1 would change to new values.
Yes, reboot the entire stack, after the election switch 2 should be 14 and switch 1 13.
I would correct the stacking cable issue as well before rebooting.

HW-MODULE UPLINK SELECT command missing on 4507R+E Sup7-E IOS 15.1(2) SG4

We have a 4507R+E with dual Sup7-E's running IOS 15.1(2) SG4. The license level is LANBase. I am creating the initial configurations for the switch but cannot change the uplink state of the SFP ports on the supervisors. I tried to run the command HW-MODULE UPLINK SELECT but it is not present. These are the only option available under HW-MODULE.

Is this a license restriction?

On a 4507R+E, "hw-module uplink select all" is enabled by default, however, because you've got redundant Sup card, the uplink ports 3 & 4 are disabled permanently.
This is because the backplane speed of the chassis is 48 Gbps. So you can only use up to four (4) 10 Gbps interfaces.

The names 'ENQUEUE_EIQMEL' and 'DEQUEUE_EIQMEL ' you have mentioned are itself the function modules. Which other FM's you need i didnt understand.
These are FM to ahndle lock objects 'QMEL'.

I have just experiences the "beep, beep, beep" after a hard crash.
The computer is overheating. The RAM gets hot and everything crashes.
The system will not restart, all I get is "beep, beep, beep.....beep, beep, beep.....beep, beep, beep.....beep, beep, beep.....beep, beep, beep.....beep, beep, beep.....beep, beep, beep.....beep, beep, beep"
I pulled the ram, and switched the chips around. The system is back up without a problem so far.

Fireworks CS3 Program Switching Issue

In the office we have 3 machines using Fireworks CS3 (part of Studio CS3). All the machines are experiencing the issue I am about to describe. Each machine is an Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB ram. All 3 machines are using Windows Vista.
We all had the old Vista Aero problem with brushes, and we quickly overcame this by using the "disable desktop composition" fix.
However, one problem we have never been able to solve occurs when switching between ANY application and Fireworks. There is a delay of at least 20-30 seconds (sometimes more) when trying to swap back to Fireworks. We have being doing various Google & Adobe forum searches regularly over the past 2+ years, looking in vein for a fix, but as yet have still not managed to find a solution or even a record of someone else with the same issue (mainly because out searches are dominated with the old "disable desktop composition" fix). We assumed it was a problem fundemental to CS3 yet still hold out hope for a solution.
Normally it's not a problem, but when working on websites which involve a lot of graphics edits and/or switching in and out of Fireworks it can quickly add a very frustrating hour or more to a job.
Recently, I was forced to upgrade to a new computer with Windows 7, and transfered my old CS3 install to the new machine. I was surprised to find that I can switch in and out of Fireworks instantly, much to the frustration of the other guys in the office who are unfortunately stuck with Vista for the time being.
Is there a fix for this horrible switching delay on Vista and has anyone else here even sufered with the same issue?
TL:DR - This is not the desktop composition problem with brushes which seems to domnate results when we try to search for a fix, this is a very noticable delay when swapping in and out of Fireworks.

I'm affraid that didn't help. It actually slowed down the inital launch of the program and it took around 5 minutes for Fireworks to finally start. Once started the program switching issue was still present
