10gR2, Win2003, 32Bit, Oracle see only 2GByte RAM from 4GByte in Machine

Hello,
i have done a default installation on Win 2003 with 10gR2 32Bit
on a Maschine with 4GByte RAM.
i try to grow up the SGA configuration over 2GByte (e.g. 2,5GByte for SGA_MAX_SIZE) but Oracle don't start, not enougth Memory.
Configuration below 2GByte works.
In the System-Information of Windows, it says it have 4GByte RAM
In DatabaseControl a the Host-Information Oracle give the Information that the host only 2GByte RAM have installed:

the same here.
seems, that is the restiction of w2k3 where you could only adress 2gb memory on 32bit OS. (without any options like /PAE or /3GB)

Does Genius see only songs purchased from iTunes?

Does Genius see only songs purchased from iTunes? If I fill in some of the information, iTunes library such as track names, play counts, and ratings on songs that weren't purchases from the iTunes library will these be included in Genius. Will songs that just have the title and artist be included in Genius. Thanks for the help.

Lion see only 3G RAM, snow leopard saw 4G

I've upgraded to Lion, activity monitor show only 3G RAM, but on snow leopard was shown 4G. On uname -a, lion shows the 32 bits kernel boots. On dmesg, PAE shows as enabled. Memory support "downgraded"...
On "About this mac" shows 4G.
I have a black macbook 2,1. Looking for solutions I saw that my macbook has a 64 bits processor, but because of a 32 bits EFI I could not boot on 64 bits... When I bought the mac, I heard that this was a 64 bits mac!
It's sad that I could boot ubuntu on 64 bits and not lion...
Any help?

Definitely not number 3--LP9 is working pretty well for me, but a lot of users find it to be rather buggy. I'm not saying don't get 9, I'm just saying don't do it with the idea in mind that it will fix all your problems. I buy my RAM from Other World Computing. I'm not sure exactly which model Mac Pro you're running, but you can see here that the most you'll pay for 8GB is about $275. But jumping up to 4GB would significantly improve your situation, so I would recommend starting there--you can always add more later if you need to.

Acer Aspire m3985 new GPU cant boot, MBO see only half RAM memory

Hi i have a lot of problems with Acer aspire m3985.Default PS is 300w, i upgrade it to coolermaster 500wi put new GPU povercolor r7 260x 1GB ddr5 128 bit, but cant boot pc (black screen and not hear beep from motherboard)i put another GPU ATi 5700 (same spec like prev. GPU) and system boot normal, i hear 1 beep, and work fine...I put again new GPU r7 260x, but again cant boot (gpu is new and work on another PC i tested it)so i try CLEAR CMOS, i finish thatr7 260x card dont boot again, i put ati again, and make date and time in BIOS, but i see another problem now:i have 16 GB paired kingston memory on computer but in BIOS see 8GB ???? Restoring only specific folders from a Time Machine backup

I am sorry if this is not the right community to ask this question. I truly was not sure where to post this as it involves the OS, iOS, Time Machine, iTunes...
I am trying to restore ONLY my photos from a MobileSync folder located on my Time Machine backup. I do not know how to go about restoring just the photos or if this is even possible? Possibly restore the entire Backup folder if needed. Whatever it takes. I know this sounds odd but my brother passed away and I lost all of the photos on my phone when I upgraded to iOS 7. Some of which have no copies floating around elsewhere. I attempted to retore from backup through iTunes and was informed my previous backup was damaged. I am currently using the latest version of Mavericks and iTunes 11.1.3. The backup I would like to recover files from is a Snow Leapord backup dating back to July of 2013 and from an iPhone 4. I currently have an iPhone 5.
Any help, guidance or insight would be greatly appreciated as I had hoped to print and frame these photos for family members.

You should be able to just restore the photos.
First though, you might consider making a backup of the drive that has the photos on it. I would get another external HD (anything except WD will do), and use CarbonCopyCloner to clone the drive.
What you would do to restore the photos is just click on the drive that has the Time Machine backups on it, and navigate to one of the backups or the MobileSync folder. In TM the backups are arranged by date; I'm not sure about MobileSync. Then you just open the backup and navigate to the photos, and drag the folder with the photos to your desktop.
I am sure the people at your local Apple store would help you.

How can I see only new topics from selected spaces on one page?

Just wondering how can I do the subj.
For instance, Im interested only in Database space, and only in several sub-spaces like high availability, upgrade, general.
So, I would like to see new topics only from these areas on single page. how can I do this?
Currently, in order to check for new questions, I need every time to go to every space, then select sub-space, go back, select another subspace. This is very inconvenient, slow and takes server resources as well.

You have to select Track in Communications under Actions in the Overview view of the appropriate forum space you are interested in. You should then receive notifications under Communications and can filter by "unread". If you don't want email notifications, you need to set it OFF in your user preferences. Oracle 11g is not connecting from network client machine.

Oracle 11g was installed on windows server 2003.
ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor ._
we are getting the above oracle exception when we give the following command:
LSNRCTL> services oracle11g_listener
Connecting to (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=CBR-SRV-HPORA.CIBER-INDIA.IN)(PORT=1522)))
The listener supports no services_
The command completed successfully.

Your Lstener doesn't know anything about services. You must configure the dynamic registration of the service in your database, e.g.
alter system set local_listener="(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=CBR-SRV-HPORA.CIBER-INDIA.IN)(PORT=1522)))";
(for permanent setting don't forget pfile or spfile)
After that the database will register the services at thie address und you will see the service when asking 'srvctl services oracle11g_listener'

Can see the shared folders from my vista machine, but cannot get into them

I was looking through these forums last night, and thanks to someone elses post, I was able to make it so that my Vista machine can SEE my Mac over the network. So I can see the computer, I can see what folders I had set on the mac as "shared", but if I try to open them, Winblows throws up an error that the network path is inaccessible...I may not have permission...blah blah blah. The Mac is connected to the network wirelessly, whereas my PC is hooked up through an ethernet cable (don't know if this matters or not). What settings do I need to check/adjust in Leopard so that my Winblows machine will talk to it? All I want to do is some simple file transfers, nothing complicated.

Thank you for your reply. Unless I overlooked something, Windows Sharing does not seem to exist in Leopard. I remember it being there with Tiger, but I did not see that particular option with Leopard. My firewall settings seem to be okay, as I was able to communicate with the Tiger machine and the other Windows machines currently with no issues.

Oracle E-Business Suite access from the Host machine

Please, after installing E-Business Suite and going through Post-configuration details, I would like to get access of my applications portal from the host system.
I have tried several ways of doing that and would not know the steps to follow in order to access the portal directly from the physical host machine.
I took the normal steps as when configuring end users and can ping the virtual machine from the Host system but can't do the same form the virtual machine of the host machine.
I can ping another server and other machines int he same network but not the one on which the virtual machine is installed.

call the machine which will access the application on virtual machine as CLIENT
call the machine which is hosting the virtual machine a VIRTUAL MACHINE HOST
call virtual machine as VIRTUAL MACHINE
You mean I should change my host IP? It has so many applications using that localhost name.Is ther any setting done in the network and have you ever accessed an application installed on Virtual machine from the host machine?>
changing of ip doesnt have any impact if ur applications are using hostname..if they are using ip then there is a issue,Yes i have acces EBIZ installed on virtula machine many times.
And if ur working in a organization then ask ur network admins to check whats the issue..may be some were firewall issue also ..thats why i asked u to chnage ip.

Accessing Oracle on VirtualBox from Host Virtual Machine

I have a Host system of windows 8, installed the Virtual Box Latest edition.
The guest OS is the oracle Linux that came with the Pre-Built Developer VMs from Oracle.
The VM is set to HOST ONLY network setting.
Now, the thing is that i want to access the Oracle in the guest machine from my windows host machine.
the guest OS shows the IP address as 192.168.56.101. I can ping the IP address from the HOST machine, but cannot connect the
SQL developer to the oracle in the guest OS from the host machine. It keeps on saying the Network adapter cannot connect.
PLEASE I need help, now please do not say that install the oracle in window itself. I actually want to do the same on my macbook pro as that is my primary machine.

I made that connection and access from the host to the guest and accessing the oracle database on the guest.
System info :
Macbook Pro - OS X 10.8.4
RAM 4GB [will upgrade to 8 GB ]
VM Package : Oracle Virtual Box
VM Guest : Oracle Pre-Built Developer VM [ http://goo.gl/dtbzO ]
Network Connection : Host Only
Steps to connect Host to Guest
If you see the 'ifconfig' you will see a network adapter named 'vboxnet0' [created after the VB is installed]
Check the allocated address from the [MAC] Virtual Box -> Preferences -> Network : copy the start or in between address, which in my case was 192.168.56.101 [start one]
Assign the address to the vboxnet0 adepter by terminal : sudo ifconfig vboxnet0 alias 192.168.56.101 up
Change the VM's Network setting to 'Host Only',
Select the virtual adapter vboxnet0 from the adapter list, apply the configurations, click ok
Fire up the guest OS, and login
Check for the IP configuration there by ifconfig, you will find the eth0 adapter with the same IP as that you assigned to the vboxnet0 on host machine.
Fire sql Developer on the host machine
Make a new connection and 'Hostname' as same as the vboxnet0 ie. 192.168.56.101, fill in the other details of the Oracle connection details needed from guest
Test the Connection
Woollaaaa you are done

Very likely not.
RAM gets improved over time like everything else, so if the RAM is too old it won't be compatible with newer machines.
TO confirm, use Crucial.com and punch in each machine, then read the RAM requirements and specifications, if they match, then your good.
But I'm willing to bet they won't be beause of the age difference between the two machines.

Is the Oracle 9i Client (Win2003 32bit) supported in a virtual environment?

We have the Oracle 9i client installed on our VM (Win2003 32bit). Our databases are on Oracle 8i (hence why we are using the 9i Client).
SQLDeveloper on this VM communicates fine with the databases
We have SQLServer2005 also on this VM which runs ETL packages, extracting from Oracle and loading onto SQLserver.
The ETLs run fine when run as standalone jobs in VisualStudio. But when run in SQLServer2005 as a job, they don't appear to run to completion - we are concerned that this may be a memory issue relating to running the Oracle Client on a VM.

Windows 2003 is supported by VM (VMware if you mean); hence anything that works on Windows 2003 should work even if Windows 2003 is running as a VM.
But when run in SQLServer2005 as a job, they don't appear to run to completion I am not able to relate this to Oracle. Could you elaborate a bit more? If it is an Oracle job which fails, what is the error?

What is the output of
olsnodes -t -n
Also, see unix error log and ohasd error log if you find anything in that
