11.1.1.6 analytics taking 7001

Hi Gurus,
In OBIEE presentation services use the port no 9704..recently I installed 11.1.1.6 on system(simple install on win xp 32bit)and installation successful but I observed in URL of Analytics as
http://localhost:7001/analytics/saw.dll..........My question is why Analytics running on port 7001..generally its port no of web logic server...
please tell me why its taking 7001 instead of 9704..........and Answers,dashboards everything working fine........

From 11.1.1.5 onwards, the Simple Install of OBIEE deploys all the applications viz analytics, em, xmlpserver etc on Admin Server itself. This is the reason all applications are available on 7001. If you notice, there would not be another weblogic server (bi_server1) itself in the domain. This is to reduce the memory footprint of weblogic servers as Simple Install is intended for demo/trial kind of purposes.

I have a problem using the Obiee 11g 11.1.1.6.0

I have installed the Oracle BI EE suite 11.1.1.6.0. in Win Xp (32bit). And I couldn't view the 'analytic' from the browser an error " Error 404: not found" and sometimes "500 : Internal server error". And I tried to restart the BI services, checked through the console and em as well. I want to whether (11.1.1.6.0) is compatible to run in the xp are is there any prerequisites to be taken care of (or) do I have to rectify any of the installation errors if any. Thank you, Kindly leave your suggestions/comments.

As specified in my last reply too, here are the answers for your issues

Yes, if you try to access analytics on port 9704, it will error out. This is because from 11.1.1.5 onwards, simple install of OBIEE has only one weblogic server on 7001. So you must try the url http://IP:7001/analytics. If you have been trying this already, just check if there are any connectivity issues to the server or firewall etc
2)And when I start the BI services, there only one cmd prompt pop up other than Start BI window.
Yes, since there is only one weblogic server there will be only one command prompt.
You could try accessing all the analytics on 7001 port and see. I think your .6 is perfectly working fine and you do not need to get back to .5

Default Analytics Look In Setting is not taking effect

Hi, all
This is possibly simple most of you.
My Default Analytics Look In Setting is set to a book on the user, but it sets on my user account when I try to run a report, and the books are not available in the look-in selecter .

I assume that you must be working with an Oracle Partner for a project of such size. They might have a demo & a dev system from Oracle which is likely to have Books. So they can potentially help you for a small prototype.
Set up a high level Book to which you associate the users. The transactional search will work one book at a time. Try and create books based on how users segments / work with contacts. This need not only be markets -> locations. It should be they way users will want to segment the contacts to work with at a given point of time. May be you could also have a Medical book ; Literature Book; a Engg book with Civil, Mechanical, Electrical sub-books. This segmentation information will be required on the contact records to have a workflow associate the contact to the right set of books.
This way all contacts will be shared but access will be only one book at a time.
You will have to consider the nos. of workflows and their maintenance & also any implications of integrations to other IT systems. Any plans for organizational M&A will also have to be factored.

Analytics function taking time

Hi everyone ,
I have a table which has somewhere around 80,00,000 rows in oracle 11g
The table has the following structure (customer-id, amount,date).
I have to select cumulative total days wise and month-wise (sum starts with zero at the start of every month) .
I have used the following

sum(amount) over (partition by customer_id rows between unbounded pre..... ) DAY-WISE
sum(amount) over (partition by customer_id, to_char(date,'MM')) order by customer_id , date MONTH-WISE
from table
Index is on 1 >customer_id

This query is still taking 30 mins......
Any ways of reducing the time will be greatly appreciated.

You don't need the customer_id in the order by part of that statement. it's not likely to be contributing a hude amount to the runtime but it's worth getting rid of any unnecessary parts of the statement. Overall though the issue is that you need to perform a window sort for each of the partition clauses so it may help to recode the statement so that you can use the same partition clause for both totals like so...

Report Developer Control Of Applying Hints to Analytics Queries

There are numerous ways to apply hints to the queries generated by Analytics:
- Table level
- Join level
- Evaluate calculation
Each has its advantages and drawbacks.
- Table level: applies the hint to every query that references the table.
- Join level: applies the hint whenever the join is used in the query.
- Evaluate: allows the report developer to include a hint, but can't control where Analytics decides to apply the hint.
I propose another method for the report developer to apply hints, when needed, that uses join level hints. All the report developer
does is add the hint column to the Answer or add a filter based on the hint column to the Answer to apply the hint.
Setup
NOTE: I suggest you do consistency checks along the way, especially before starting work in the next Layer, to be sure that all setup errors are resolved early.
1) Start by defining a Logical SQL table in the Physical Layer using the following SQL: Select 1 Hint from dual
2) Alias this table for each hint to be defined for report developer usage. As an example, alias the hint table, creating
No Star and Parallel alias tables.
3) Join each alias to the physical layer fact tables, using a complex join, where the hint could be applied. In the Join definition screen, put the hint in the HINT field and enter 1=1 for
in the Expression section. Yes, we are creating a cartesian join between the hint and the other joining table. As the hint table always returns one and only one row, there
is no effect on the rows returned by the query. For No Star, you
put NO_STAR_TRANSFORMATION in the Hint field. For Parallel, you put PARALLEL(<physical table name>, default, default), where the physical table name
is the name of the actual database table, not the name of the alias table (Analytics will put the alias in the place of the database table name
when it generates the SQL). Additionally, for hints that have no parameters, you only need to join it
to the Fact tables in a query and not necessarily the dimensions. If you include fields from multiple fact tables, the hint will be applied
for each fact table. So, you may see the hint multiple times in the SQL (something like SELECT /*+ NO_STAR_TRANSFORMATION NO_STAR_TRANSFORMATION */ t00001.col1...)
4) Add the hint alias tables to the BMM Layer.
5) Rename the Hint field in each of the BMM hint tables to identify the hint being applied. For No Star, change the column name from Hint to No Star Hint. For Parallel,
change the column name from Hint to Parallel Hint.
6) Set the hint column as a key.
7) Join the BMM hint tables to the appropriate fact tables, using a complex join.
8) Define each hint table as a dimension.
9) Set the Logical Level in the Content tab in each of the sources of the joined tables to use the Detail of the hint dimension.
10) Create a folder in the Presentation Layer called Hints
11) Place each BMM hint field into the Presentation Layer Hints folder.
To apply a hint to your Answer, either add the Hint field to your Answer or create a filter where the Hint field is equal to/is in 1 (the number one). Check that the SQL generated
contains the hint, in Answers, go into Administration, Session Manager, and view the log for the user (the user log level will need to have been set to 7 to see the SQL generated).
Use of hints in more complex setups can be done by performing a setup of the hints that is parallel to the fact table setup. As an example, if you specify fragmentation content and a where
clause in your BMM for your fact tables, you would setup parallel physical layer hint tables and joins, BMM objects and joins, fragmentation content, and where clauses based on the
hint tables (only hint tables are referenced in the where clause).
As any database person knows, hints can either help or degrade the performance of queries. So, taking the SQL of the pre-hint Answer and figuring out which hints give the best
performance is suggested, prior to adding the hint fields/filters to the Answer.

Google Analytics OPT-OUT Browser Add-on 0.9.6 doesn't retain OPT-OUT settings...never did really. Also JAVA now refuses to create updates for WinXP/FireFox.

I use PaleMoon now trying to get rid of advertising sharks. I have WINXP still - need assistive-technology computer for pain so taking time on getting new computer.
I have been severely sabotaged by advertising conglomerates selling my private information. They have no right -yet they do whatever they want. Anyhow...I've tried to OPT-OUT of EVERYTHING POSSIBLE. I've tried 5 places found. Google, NAI, DAA, & FIREFOX HELP said go to about:config was instructed to turn "from false to true" the "privacy.tracking.protection.enabled" .But I couldn't keep this setting because this also has to be set to false to use any saved log-on's to my accounts., and add-on AD BLOCK PLUS 2.6.7 when I was on Firefox & had some ticks and now it is disabled because it won't work with PaleMoon 25.2.1

I sent numerous trouble reports to them that they ignored - then I think I sent one to Firefox and it is much better but still not completely right. Today DAA retains 106 out of 122 and if I repeatedly RE-OPT-OUT successively I can get it to 121 out of 122 - never completely. (currently the one not taking is Accuen Inc. but it changes periodically - makes me think they set one up to take my info and then share it with all of them - lol )
Same for NAI currently I started with 94 out of 96 - next re-OPTED-OUT got it to 95 out of 96 and no further and same co. Accuen Inc (accuenmedia.com ) wouldn't update.
NOTE: I was copy/pasting the list of NON-OPT-OUT'S to them and my own document file to try and find trends/problems...now NAI programmers protected the list from being able to be COPIED AND PASTED!!! That's the opposite of being open and interested in making this work, right? Why would they want to allow us to OPT-OUT of their criminal espionage behavior...RIGHT? (lol) FYI: I recorded that the big one that was always retained before this one was...MEDIA MATH INC.
MANY Opt-outs would drop off while on-line and ALL would drop-off once logged-off. Now it's retaining most once logged off - but it hasn't been long enough to tell if they'll fall back into their bad habits as they've done before...
This has been going on forever for me - I've been reporting this malfunction since 2013.

All the OPT-OUT COOKIES that are to be forevermore retained on my computer and that I am to trust the EVERY FUNCTION OF - well they all have different COOKIE NAMES!! Most of the names you can not tell that they are OPT-OUT COOKIES!! - SO NOWWW They have created another problem.
We can no longer just "DELETE ALL COOKIES".
PLUS, we can no longer go through our cookies and delete individual ones that snuck through.
Every one of the OPT-OUT COOKIES SHOULD SAY "OPT-OUT" IWITHIN THEIR NAME OF THEIR COOKIE - PERIOD. RIGHT? (LOL) For real. Why was this mess was allowed?
REALLY IN MY OPINION THESE COMPANIES SHOULD BE BLOCKED AT THE LOCAL PHONE COMPANIES LEVEL - IN OUR SERVERS. We should not have to deal with them. Same thing with viruses, malware and such beasts. But I digress.
In summary:
1.)Google Analytics OPT-OUT Browser Add-on 0.9.6 doesn't retain OPT-OUT settings
2.) JAVA refuses to create updates for WinXP/FireFox/PaleMoon.
3.) DAA & NAI still don't retain ALL OPT-OUT settings and never completely OPT-OUT all companies.
4.) OPT-OUT cookies should be uniformly names with the words OPT-OUT in their titles.
5.) Ad Block Plus 25.6.7 doesn't work for Pale Moon and there is no alternative - (didn't work great in FireFox)
Right now I'm mainly interested in #1)retaining my GOOGLE OPT-OUTS while on line AND while logged off since it is attacking my computer and steeling all the speed until it freezes my keyboard.
Currently I am trying to remember to run through 3. OPT-OUTS every time I log on.

Financial Analytics 7.9.6 - Reconciling to EBS 11.5.10 Data Source

Source system: EBS 11.5.10
Question
I have completed the BAW ETL load from my EBS 11.5.10 source system and am trying to reconcile the data in the warehouse with the EBS data to ensure it has loaded successfully. I have started by running Parameterised General Ledger -> Trial Balance OOTB Dashboard reports in BI against similar parametrised Trial Balance Summary reports in EBS, and they have successfully reconciled in my local currency (AUD). However, I need to add the "Local" currency columns to the OOTB request when I run a report against a foreign currency (GBP).
This is all easily done but it is time consuming. Can anyone out there share with us all their techniques for reconciling data volumes and values, specifically for EBS 11.5.10 data source?

I don't know of patches off the top of my head, you're best off spending a couple of hours trawling My Oracle Support, that'll throw the candidates up.

Authentication error while logging in to analytics url

I have installed OBIEE 11g on Windows XP 64 bit server recently.
I’m unable to login to analytics page "http://xxxxxx:7001/analytics"/"http://xxxxxx:9704/analytics" But able to login to enterprise manager('http://xxxxxx:7001/em')and console .
I’m using the default 'weblogic' user id and the password I have given during the installation.
Also I’m able to access RPD with default password .
The policy manager is operational and also all the services are running even though we are unable to login to analytics page.
Can any one help me in this regard

First try restarting BI Services including Admin Server, Node Manager if issue still persists try below two options -
- Make sure passwords are same in below to locations
Oracle weblogic Server : Console / Home >Summary of Security Realms > myrealm > Users and Groups > BISystemUser
EM: weblogic domain > bifoundation_domain > Security > Credentials > oracle.bi.system -> system.user
- Refresh GUID's

Creation of bitmap index taking long time

I have OLTP compression enabled on the table
CREATE BITMAP INDEX
I1 ON
T1(
col 1Asc
NOLOGGING TABLESPACE ts_index01
taking very long time.
The wait event is : cell single block physical read.
Any ideas what I can do?

thanks for your answer. The issue is this is a cOTS product(Siebel Analytics). The indexes are created by DAC(Informatica) automatically. I do not have away to "create index index_name parallel degree 24" clause in there.

Error loading XML Document from /analytics/saw.dll/common/privileges.xml

I tested my procedure for upgrading from OBI 11.1.1.5 to 11.1.1.6 which was successful. I had to rollback to OBI 11.1.1.5 using my database backup and VM snapshot due to project requirements.
The OBI application successfully comes up but users who login just get "Error loading XML Document from /analytics/saw.dll/common/privileges.xml?fmapID=KqIJCw. The response given was: ". They can't close this message box so are unable to do anything.
How can I fix this?

You can face this issue with other versions of OBIEE 11.*
Problem cab be solved as follows:
Go to http://localhost:7001/em > coreapplication > Capacity Management > Scalibility >
1. Lock and edit
2 .increase number of presentation services to 2
3. restart opmn component.
Go to coreapplication > Availibility > processes
1 .please note that in deployment > catalog > change path of catalog field from $coreapplication to path where your catalog resides.
2. Take down your primary instance.
3. As your secondary is up, it will grant you to browse you through catalog and dashboards.
If you want to run primary instance of presentation services
Go to path \Middleware\instances\instance1\bifoundation\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips2
except catalog and catalog manager > Copy all other files to coreapplication_obips1
restart opmn component > problem solved.!!!

Thanks for taking the time to review this post. I am about to commence an Oracle BI Apps Financial Analytics 7.9.6 install using Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10.2 as a source for the BAW utilising Single Sign-On (SSO). Is there a list of any paticular EBS Interoperability patches, minimum EBS Family Packs for the EBS modules within Financial Analytics (GL, AR, AP) and SSO patches I need to be aware of?
Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10.2
Oracle BI Applications 7.9.6
Oracle BI Enterprise Edition Plus 10.1.3.4
Oracle Database 10g R2
All Oracle BI Applications components hosted on a Linux 4.0 32 bit platform.

I don't know of patches off the top of my head, you're best off spending a couple of hours trawling My Oracle Support, that'll throw the candidates up.

How can I change the default date format to DD-MON-YYYY in BI Analytics...
I am passing a date in a report from a prompt....but it is always taking "dd-mon-yyyy hh:mm:ss" format...I want to input the prompt in oracle's default date format i.e dd-mon-yyyy..
please help...I dont want to use cast function because it will convert the date into a character value....I want a date...

Analytics login is erroring out

Login : weblogic
I am sure the password is correct but its not loging me in.

if services are all alive and getting the same login error........
Sol1:
Check MDS and BIPLATFORM users are locked or not.
If locked U have to alter the the users.

and check the internal applications are all in up or not if some services are down note the services and login to console -> click deployments ->and start the services which are in failed status.
