hi Experts,
i am getting the error at the time configuration.
i have skip the proxy settings, database configuration was fail. so pls give me some sugetion
i have 4 servers. in one server shared services and EPMA. now i have installaed shared service in that server as MS 2008 is the OS and oracle is data base.installation is completed. now when i going to configuration, database configuration is failed. here asking some proxy access details. i skip that one.
pls give me some suggetions.........

i installed essbase and couldn't connect to sql to load the data into essbase( though it works fine with excel and text file)
after numerous pondering on the forums I could not find a solution to my probelm
why i could not connect to sql from essbase ?
I decided to retry the installation . I have come to a point within installation where i need to select
Shared Services Configuration : Database type
unfortunately oracle is not available here though I have installed oracle 11g on my machine and setup users to be used in the epm system ( version 11.1.2)
the only type available is the oracle jdbc driver .
Any suggestion as to how i can get oracle database type here ?
OR am i missing something prior to installation.

To connect to load data or metadata follow steps
1. Create a system DSN in the machine which is hosting Essbase Server.
2. Select Create Rule file.
3. Go To File and select Open SQL.
4. Select Application and Application
5. Select DSN and provide user credentials.

Database Type - Is the database Type which you want to use i.e. IBM DB2 / MS SQL Server / Oracle...

Shared Services Configuration & Deployment

Hi,
I have a general query on the Shared Services Deployment. In the config. utlility you find an option to deploy shared services using an application server. After that we dont deploy it using web server. This being the case how are we able to access shared services using the url http://servername:28080/interop ??
I searched many places but couldnt find exactly what i am looking for. Thanks in advance for all your inputs...

The configuration utility deploys all the components and creates the application to run on the specified port, if you point the configuration utility to the installation location of web logic it does the rest for you. So basically once you have configured using the configuration utility the shared services app should be running and accessible by the standard url.

Hyperion 11 Installation -Shared Service registration is failed for essbase

Today, i was installing Hyperion 11 EPMA system. Here is my scenario:
Installed and configured "Foundation" on one system. Installed "Essbase" products on another system in the same network (Not installed HbNet components). While configuring Essbase products it never asked for Shared Services Server location and hence the essbase products registration with Shared services is failed at the end.
I checked in the services of second system and wonder to see "OpenLDAP" service is running. (I was not able to uncheck "Hyperion Foundation" product options during Essbase product configuration).
I have given the same database schema details used to configure database for the shared services. Am i missing anything. Please help.

It seems you have server1 for foundation services and server2 for essbase only.
Try this scenario with the following steps:
1.For server1, Install and configure your database , Install and configure your foundation services.
after your done with server1
2.for server2, Install and configure foundation services. Point your database to server1.
after your done successfully, with no errors.
Proceed to installation and configuration of essbase products.

I'm little confused the way to configure EPM products in a distributed environment. Registration of essbase related product with shared services is still failing even mentioned to use "Previously configured shared services database" on Shared services and Registry database page.
From the installation guide: 1. Using the database administration console, change the password of the user account that was used to configure the Shared Services database.
2. Do i need to stop shared services web application and OpenLDAP while configuring "Essbase" products on another system.
Please address the above points and help.Thanks!!

I am not getting oracle or Teradata during configuration of Shared Services in database type
PIC HERE
I added both the database (sample SH for oracle and WIMM (personalized database ) for Teradata) in the microsoft odbc administrator on the machine .
but it does not detect these data bases -- does any one know to configure and add databases to the drop down list .

When configuring shared services it does not use ODBC connections it uses JDBC, by default you should see Oracle in the dropdown but you will not see teradata.
You don't mention the version but if it is 11.1.2.x then you should see a screen like http://2.bp.blogspot.com/__2AaArK5lW8/S9XEZAzyHEI/AAAAAAAACRE/DI1A9ui7kTM/s1600/13.png when configuring shared services for the first time.

I have installed hyperion essbase 11.1.1.3 and configured to oracle database
when i configure workspace,essbase,essbase administration services,studio its bouncing back as registration with shared services failed.
I have checked services there openldap and shared services are up
when i login to shared services console iam receving error as

Shared Services configuration

Hi all,
We recently switched the location of our Shared Services schema from our main to secondary site oracle server.
In the "reg.properties" file found under "hyperion/common/config/9.5.0.0" there's the configuration for where to look. If you change this, by editing the file, it won't work.
There is an encrypted property value "local.value" which seems to be some form of check sum of the jdbc.url which then doesnt match the jdbc.url. We re-run the configuration util and it re-wrote this file out withe the revised local.value and all is OK.
Thought people might be interested to know.

EPM 11.1.1.3 Shared Services Configuration help needed

Hi,
I am currently running into issues when trying to configure Shared Services via the EPM System Configurator 11.1.1.3. I've installed Weblogic 9.3 MP3 with all of the default options (including establishing Node Manager as a service). I've also created a seperate userId in Weblogic called hyperion (with the password of hyperion) so that EPM can access the instance against the default web server.
When I run the configurator to try and deploy to application server, the status sits there on the "Starting WebLogic 9 Admin Servers" and does nothing.
Sometimes is does get past that but then the deployment fails because it is unable to deply the interop.war.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm 100% stuck!

Hi,
I am not sure what your issue is but I do know that you don't have to start creating users in weblogic. Usually you do a standard install of weblogic, if you are not going to use it you don't need the node manager set up.

Essbase system9 Shared Services configuration

Hi posting again.... :-)
I was wondering if someone could shed some light on a few strange things that have been happening in my wonderfull world of migratin from Essbase 7.1.5 to sys 9.3.1.
I have installed of the foundation server software on one server and the essbase server on another. I have gone to configure both shared services and then essbase and im using the defualt admin account 'admin' and 'password' for password. this is just really a dry run through, but i have been reading that this ais a no no, just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this. Also i have configured Shared services to pick up our AD accounts. I have configured essbase server and i externalised my users to shared services.... i have had a few problems, because as soon as i externalise my native users i am unable to use my AD users in shared services?? a little lost and when i sign back into AAS (EAS) i can hook up to the application server but when i assign the essbase server it says the user credentials are invalid??
any help would be great

Hi, i have managed to get my users externalised to SS and all is working fine concerning users accessing my essbase server through Excel using there MSAD accounts etc. I have however come accross a strange error? When i log into the SS admin consol with any of my admin accounts, when i click on projects and then say one of my essbase applications that i have an MSAD group provisioned to it wont show up in 'Assign Access Control' window? Currently the user directory structure is Native then MSAD when i flip these to MSAD and Native then restart the service the MSAD groups appear in the'Assign Access Control' window but the Native admin and test groups no longer appear??? am confursed a little with this as i have both Native groups that are there to control my automation from my TPS and SQL and i have MSAD groups that contrain provisioning for my user base. This really only effects SS consol as when i log into AAS (EAS) i am able to see both group types and they appear to be working together. is there any way i can see both group types in the 'Assign Access Control' window? also i have left the user directory in MSAD then Native, is this recomended?

I am configuring Hyperion System 9 on Oracle 11 g. I am not configuring against any IP. If it so how to resolve it.

Hyperion Shared Services Configuration Issue

Hello,
We are using Hyperion Strategic Finance (Version: 9.3.1.2.0.775) on a server XYZ. The shared services database (Oracle) has moved from an old server to a new server.
When trying to configure the new database for the Shared Services we are not able to edit the Database Details.
Can someone please help us with this issue?

Have you tried editing <HYPERION_HOME>\common\config\product\hub\9.3.1.0\hub_1_config.xml as this contains the configuration info.

Hyperion Shared Services Configuration Error with Weblogic 9.2

Hi All,
I have been trying to configure Hyperion Shared Services 9.3.1 with Weblogic Ver 9.2
During configuration of the Database and the Application Server, I select Manual Configuration option on Weblogic 9
However, it returns a configuration failure everytime of the Database.
In my case, the DB used is SQL 2005.
Can someone, please advise me.

Shared Services Configuration/Deregesration problems

Hi All, We are using Soalris OS, 64 bit server. I have isntalled EPM 11.1.1.2 , Shared Serives, ESA in that machine also I have configured the Essbase, EAS with shared services. Now we wanted to downgrade our applciaons to use system 9 as theere are issues with cognos connecting to EPM 11. So I have uninstalled EPM Essbase, Shared services (i did not find any option for deregister applications), EAS. Then I have installed Essbsae 9.3.1.3 , Shared services, Congigured successfully. But I cann see all my applications/Cubes that are created in 11 in the shared services projects tab. I was not able to delete them from the shared services. Please advis the best way to configure the Esbase system 9 in already installed and uninstalled EPM system.
