I had same issue. I flollowed http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 and the actual part that fixed it for me was step 5. Once I finally found it under DEVICES under "portable devices" the connected type of device was only listed as "Apple Iphone" and nothing was listed under the Universal Serial bus Controllers. After I followed the directions to install the proper mobile device driver then Itunes was able to see my phone. My PC then also has the correct device listed under the Universal Serial bus Controllers.
It is not enough that your connected device says "Apple Iphone" ... so read into the directions step by step for your OS. I think this is the fix for most new connection issues seen with Itunes 11.1.5! Nice bench testing Apple.

My ipod 4g has been working fine for the last 2 years until now, it wont charge or connect to itunes what so ever. it will connect to the dock and play music but just wont charge on any charger, computer,cord,anything. its making me so frustrated i think it has somthing to do with the battery but im not sure because it still turns on. I am becoming anxious because no matter what I try it doesnt seem to allow me to open itunes.
Error Message reads: this application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

got notification that new Itunes version is available, once i installed it I'm no longer able to open Itunes, I get the error message, Not installed properly. Reinstall itunes. Error 7(Windows error127), I tried repairing itunes, Apple Aplication support, apple mobile device support, bonjour and I even uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes and still problem exist, any solution?
I have windows 8I got this message today too. I understand that my music is stored on my computer, however I want to be certain that if I re-install iTunes, it won't erase my library....playlists, playcounts, checked songs, etc.

When I connect my iphone and open itunes the iphone icon shows up but when I click it nothing happens and the icon disappears. I have uninstalled and re-installed itunes. My sister changed our primary AppleID email address to her email so now I can't log into my iTunes account on my phone. I tired syncing my iphone to my mac and it wont even sync anymore. We share the same account. Is there a way to fix this?

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with iCloud on your devices after updating your Apple ID. I recommend the following steps:
Symptoms
iOS 7 may ask for the password to your previous Apple ID when you sign out of iCloud.
Resolution
1. Use your current Apple ID password
Trying using your current Apple ID password. If that doesn't work, continue to the next step.
2. Sign out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime
If you are currently signed in to iMessage or FaceTime
If you are not signed in to iMessage or FaceTime
3. Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't work, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud and try to sign out.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud and sign in with the new Apple ID.

HT4623 Installed iOS6 now the 3GS asks to connect to itunes, then powercycles
Updated to iOS6, now I get he iOS6 welcome screen, the screen that congratuleates me for connecting, then asks to connect to itunes, I connect to iTunes and it gives me the wheel, then the phone power cycles. Help!
uhoh, i can't remember, the window that had the message is gone now. i deleted the back up on itunes and when i just tried again, its now saying its will take 400 plus hours .... i think i've really screwed up now

I updated iTunes 10.3.1 today, and now it won't let me openitunes it keeps saying error 7 (windows error 14001) and also says (apple mobile failed to startverify significant privileges to start system services) I have unstalled it severaltimes, tried repairing it also switched off all security software and checkedall files are deleted in local disk (program file) but still no look. Please cansomeone help

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
Regarding AMDS failures there is a hint in another thread that disabling the Windows Firewall before attempting to reinstall may help, otherwise take a look at the steps outlined in this post. Re: Can't install iTunes 12.1 on Windows 7 64-bit. I know they look a little daunting, but the process of generating the logs themselves isn't that hard to do. Extracting useful information from them is still a challenge but maybe something will leap out. If you want to post the log for the failed components for me to have a look at here or in the other thread please edit out any personal information, particularly your email address, first.

Help my iphone wont show in itunes have tried all the suggested things but hasnt worked and having uninstalled and reinstalled itunes latest version about 8 times now im getting a bit tired of it. Was running fine then i removed some old nokia phone software and now it wont show in itunes. My computer shows it as a camera and its displayed in devices as well help me this is sooo annoying!

Moved my itunes folder to new drive, now can't see my music in itune
I transferred my itunes over to an external drive per the step-by-step instructions on the Apple site, which assures that all playlists will be maintained. iTunes Properties shows the correct location of the new folder, which, judging by its size, does in fact contain everthing I transferred over to it.
Now when I open itunes, it is blank - no music, movies or playlists. How do I get itunes to pull up everything propoerly from the new folder location?*Well this worked, thank you. However, my playlists arent there. Did yours go back in?*
I never moved my library file just the music folder but I'm surprised the playlists aren't there if you are picking up the original library.
*I believe I can now synch the ipods to get those playlists, but there were others..*
If you sync the iPod to a library without playlists the lists on the iPod will be erased. There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and clone playlists from your iPod. I believe these three will recover playlist data, they'll give you somewhere to begin your research:

Installed Optibay now Macbook wont start without the charger...

Yesterday I installed an SSD along with an optibay drive in my Late 2011 macbook. I have installed my own hard drive before and the process of installing the Optibay was fairly similiar and simple.
After everything was installed I noticed my macbook does not start when the charger cable is plugged out. I have reset the SMC (Did not get any feedback from the laptop, so im not sure if anything is happening.) as well as disconnected the battery for a few seconds, still nothing. Without the charger the laptop is now dead.
If I go to system support I, my laptop has had 256 cycles and the battery status is Normal.
When I boot up with the charger plugged in, I can see that the laptop is charging and the percentages are going up.
What do you guys reccomend I do? I need the latop so it would be great if we can find a solution where I dont have to send it in for a few weeks to get repaired.

I pressed the battery indicator. When the laptop is on charge, it runs to the appropiate light. When it is not on charge, none of the lights light up. The laptop behaves like there is no battery inserted.
I also checked the battery cable and it was snug. I plugged it out and back in just for peace of mind but the problem persists.
I sent in the latop for repairs a short while after my initial message. So let's hope they can get it sorted by the weekend. (Their claimed repair time.)
