11.2.0.3 upgrade to 12.1.0.2 - listener question

I am currently doing a database upgrade from 11.2.0.3 to 12.1.0.2. The server has a number of other 11g database instances which have not yet been upgraded and the listener on teh server is 11g. Should i be creating a 12c listener for the upgrade i.e. having two listeners on the same server or what's the best way to tackle this scenario? thank you.

You don't need the 12c listener for the upgrade. Create the 12c listener.ora file, but do not start the listener. Once the upgrade completes, shut down the 11g listener and start the 12c listener.
Alternatively, install the 12c binaries, create the 12c listener.ora file, shutdown the 11g listener, start the 12c listener, then perform the upgrade.

  • If I upgrade my iOS from 5.1 to 6.0 then do I have to upgrade my Xcode also? So my question is all my old Xcode project which I have tried with Xcode 4.3.2 will be still there because I do not want to destroy them.

I have xcode 4.3.2 and  iOS simulator Version 5.1 (272.21). But this course is on iOS 6. If I upgrade my iOS from 5.1 to 6.0 then do I have to upgrade my Xcode also? So my question is all my old Xcode project which I have tried with Xcode 4.3.2 will be still there because I do not want to destroy them.
I have a MacBook Pro (Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63b). Please let me know about upgrading iOS version so that I will be able to do the class project.

To program for iOS 6, you need iOS 6 SDK. You need to download Xcode 4.5.x. But don't worry. All your previous projects are still alive and you are able to open them in the new Xcode.

As of iTunes 11.1 and iOS7, podcast files will no longer play in the Music app on the iPhone (this is very annoying, but that's the way it is).
The two easiest options are probably:
What Apple wants you to do: download and install their free Podcasts app onto your iOS device. In theory your podcasts, including the BBC news one, should sync onto the Podcasts app. This is supposed to "Just work", and if it just works for you, well, congratulations, but that certainly doesn't seem to be the case for most posters in this forum.
What I'm leaning towards: for all podcasts in iTunes, Get Info, and change them from "Media Kind = Podcasts" to "Media Kind = Audiobook". That will allow them to sync to the Music app. Then you'll have to arrange smart playlists or whatever to sync those (ex-)"podcasts" to your Music app.

  • Upgrade is on the wrong line. Question.

My fiance added  a line for me in August/September of 2010. With said line should have came the ability to purchase a new phone. At the time, I didn't have the money and still had a Droid Eris. So I activated the Eris. Now I've cracked the screen and decided I would purchase a new phone (Droid X). But the upgrade is on the primary line, which is her line. So my question is. Can I purchase the Droid X on her upgrade and activate it on my line?

There should be no need to do this, as you said, because your new line should still have the upgrade eligibility. It should have been added as a new line on a month-to-month contract since you provided your phone. I would call CS and talk to them about that.

  • A few years ago I bought LR 3 last year I upgraded it to LR 4. The question I need answered is this: I had to buy a new computer and when I downloaded LR 4 I placed the serial number as requested, but it needs the SSN to LR 3. I don't have it and have it.

I cannot locate my earlier light room 3 serial number so how can I obtain it?

If you still have access to the computer LR was installed on you can find both the LR3 & LR4 serial numbers here:
    OS X
Registration data (serial number) is in //Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Lightroom 4.0 Registration
    Windows 7 Vista
Registration data (serial number) is located in the C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Lightroom\Lightroom 4.0 Registration.lrreg file.
Lightroom 4 reads the Lightroom 3.0, 2.0, or 1.0 registration registry entry when it validates upgrade serial numbers. If you install an upgrade version of Lightroom 4 and it does not find a file for either Lightroom 3.0, 2.0, or 1.0, it prompts you to enter the previous version serial number.
This are plain text files which can be opened in Window's Notepad or it's equivalent in OS X.

  • To upgrade or not to upgrade....that is the question.

So my original iPhone is just starting to end its lifespan. I have had it since the phone first came out (so for about 2.5 years). I am having problems with battery life, freezing, and the sleep button keeps getting stuck. I brought it to the genius bar today and they told me that they can replace the phone with a new one (still the original iPhone) for what amounts to about $90 after taxes and stuff.
So here is the question. Do I spend the $90 for the same phone with no upgrades and the capability of keeping my current service plan (only $60/month) or do I upgrade to the newest iPhone for only an extra $100 but then have to pay an additional $15 or more per month for the same service? Is the newest phone really worth that extra money?

That's a decision only you can make. Personally, it would be worth it to me to go from a 2G to a 3GS (assuming I was in a good 3G coverage area) but if you can limp along for another few months, Apple may come out with a new iPhone this summer, considering they have for the last 3 summers.

  • Upgrading from 10.2.8 to Tiger, questions?

I've never upgraded my OS. I've had my G4 for two years and have enjoyed using it very much. I recently purchased an external Lacie DVD/CD Burner with lightscribe capabilities, but I can't use it with my current OS. I went ahead and bought Tiger, and started to install but then I aborted when after RESTART the G4 was stuck at the bright initial image with the Apple icon and the spinning wheel.
It was in this mode for almost 10 minutes, so I finally did a hard boot, and ejected the install disk. When it came back I saw three icons: In the center was my hard drive icon with an OS blue "X" on it, to the left was a circular arrow icon, and to the right was a straight arrow icon pointing to the right.
Everything seemed to come normally when I clicked on the arrow pointing to the right.
So, here's the deal. I want to upgrade to Tiger, but before I do it again I would like to get some informative answers to a few of my questions.
By attempting to install the new OS and stopping it, did I do anything wrong that I need to go in and fix?
Should I back-up my Home Directory files before installing?
Do I need to upgrade to Panther before I can upgrade to Tiger?
What info should I document prior to the install, ie internet settings, that may get wiped when I do the install?
Also, should a do a full install, or a custom?
I use Final Cut Pro and it's companion programs almost every day, and I would hate for anything to jeapordize these programs. If there is anything I need to be wary of, please let me know.
Thanks for all your input and advice.

    Hi Christopher,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
By attempting to install the new OS and stopping it, did I do anything wrong that I need to go in and fix?
Something obviously went wrong, but I'm wondering if you got a viable Tiger install: go to Apple Menu>About This Mac and see what version of OSX it lists.
Should I back-up my Home Directory files before installing?
Yes. Should always be backed up, but even more so when installing a new OS.
Do I need to upgrade to Panther before I can upgrade to Tiger?
    No.
What info should I document prior to the install, ie internet settings, that may get wiped when I do the install?
Your ISP connection settings and Mail would be helpful so you don't have to figure them out again; you may want to take screen shots of them.
Also, should a do a full install, or a custom?
If you do an Upgrade or Archive and Install, it should leave your settings and home folder intact so you may not have to reset much. However, if one of those doesn't work (there was obviously some kind of issue first time around - and btw, which install option did you choose?) you may have to do an Erase and Install, in which case everything will be erased and only Tiger installed.
Also, do you want OS9 and/or Classic?
I use Final Cut Pro and it's companion programs almost every day, and I would hate for anything to jeapordize these programs. If there is anything I need to be wary of, please let me know.
You'll need to check with the makers of your software to see what's Tiger compatible, what will need to be upgraded and at what cost.

  • Want to upgrade from Tiger to Leopard and have questions...

I recently purchased an Airport extreme after my previous router/wifi unit went up in smoke. Had to use the PC with XP to set it up as the iMac has 10.4.11 and I supposedly need 10.5.x to setup the airport with the iMac. From reading the upgrade specs and system requirements, it appears I have no issue upgrading... just have to find a copy of Leopard. There in lies my question, as copies are no longer available from Apple (per what I was told at the store, and don't see them on the web), if I buy a copy off ebay or Craig's list, unless I can find a brand new sealed box.... do I take the chance of buying a copy that somebody installed, and now the serial number is registered and therefore is no good anymore? How does that work, is the serial number of the software registered to the machine serial number and once used, the disk is worthless on another computer? I realize that there are "family" copies and developer copies with what, 5 licenses and unlimited? What about the standard "retail" package, once it's installed it's worthless to anybody but the person that originally used it?

There is no serial numbering/registration. This is not Windows. You are on your honor.
You always take a chance purchasing from eBay and Craig's List in as much as most of these sellers do not know what they are selling and/or miss-represent the item. Can't tell you how many folks come here trying to install an OS unsuccessfully only to find out that they bought a machine specific OS version that the seller swore would work on their Mac.

  • Upgrade to MyFaces 1.2. Listener start error

    Hello,
I'm trying to upgrade my project from MyFaces 1.1.5 to MyFaces 1.2. I have changed myfaces jars and modified faces-config header.
But when I starts my aplication I get an error:SEVERE: Error listenerStartSeems that they are some problem with StartupServletContextListener. Is still needed tha listener with 1.2 version?
    I am working with Tomcat 5.5.15, jdk 1.5, facelets 1.1.14 and ajax4jsf 1.0.5
    Can someone help me?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ricard

    Hi again,
Forget that issue. I have downloaded Tomcat 6 and it works fine. Think the problem was with the JspFactory that Tomcat 5 includes in the jsp-api.jar in the common/lib. Seems that MyFaces 1.2 needs a newer version of that jar. A version that implements JspFactory.getJspApplicationContext(ServletContext servletcontext). Maybe upgrading that jsp-api.jar on Tomcat 5, it will work fine.
    Thanks,

    Please check below:
ST-PI and ST-A/PI- Check latest release from SAP Netweaver.
FINBASIS, SEM-BW- EHP5 should be used.
    BI_CONT- 7.3.5
For more information, you can check SAP note 1532805. I would suggest you to download patched from MOPZ and it will take care of dependency of all the objects instead of downloading all components separately.
    Thanks

  • HP Pavillion Dv7 1279wm cpu upgrade to Intel Core2 Extreme QX9300 Technical Question.

I made a royal error and posted this in the wrong topic first I apologize:
So... I've kept great care of my laptop and it still boots fine (im obsessive about keeping it in tip top shape) but lately its age is becoming apparent and I'm not scared to take my machine apart so... my dv 1279wm is out of warranty and cant get help (for free that is) from HP customer support regarding this issue:
I want to upgrade my cpu from its default Core 2 Duo (see signature for specs) to an Intel Core2 Extreme Quad QX9300 model.
Now i already did some homework on this matter the QX9300 is a socket P CPU and the stock CPU is also Socket P. The Chipset that came stock with my motherboard on my machine is PM45 and the QX9300 is (supposedly) compatible but i've read on other forums regarding the PM45 is that it was revised (or something like that) and that the newer PM45 chipsets can run old and new but the older PM45 chipsets cant run new (specifically Core2 Quad and Core2 Extreme Models). I want to know if the PM45 that came stock in my laptop is compatible with this CPU or Not (is my PM45 new or old)? Also I'm aware that HP locks their BIOS, I'm wondering if that'll be a problem in recognizing a new CPU (perhaps some kind of preventative measure when trying to do an upgrade for example the BIOS reads core2 quad 9100=Dont run)Thanks for reading
P.S. I'm not to worried about heating issues in fact with 4 cores the workload should be lighter per core keeping total heat lower but that's just my rationalization. Regardless, i've heard plenty of people say "why not just buy a new computer?" a seeming suggestion that upgrading the CPU is just silly or useless ( your opinion is your entitlement) but I dont think it is useless or silly (just a guy here trying to breathe new life into his first computer)

did some final snooping around intel's website and discovered the components of the intel PM45 chipset that make the qx9300 compatible
    Intel® Core™2 Extreme Processor QX9300 (12M Cache, 2.53 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB) (Configurations: 2)
    Mobile Intel® PM45 Express Chipset with 82801IEM I/O Controller Hub (ICH9EM)

    # of CPUs: 1
    Embedded: No
    System Price: $1077

so it works with the revised chipset (82801IEM I/O controller:ICH9EM) and the old (82801IBM I/O controller:ICH9M) as well
but of course the other worry is Locked BIOS and I am NOT comfortable flashing my bios perhaps i'll find an altarnative
the next step is unlocking the BIOS without reflashing ill peruse some threads and post a thread if i cant find my answer
(edit) I'm gonna leave this thread open until I perform the upgrade myself and leave the results as the solution so anyone else with this model ( I can't be the only one lol) who is curions will know from a successful or unsuccessful upgrade lol

  • Upgrading InDesign 5.0 to 5.5 question

We are thinking of upgrading from InDesign 5.0 to InDesign 5.5 and wanted to double check some information.
As I understand it, if we upgrade, the installer installs version 5.5 and the 5.0 version still remains (i.e. it doesn't write over or eliminate the older version)
Does that mean I can still use the InDesign 5.0 version if necessary or does installing InDesign 5.5 render the 5.0 version inactive?
Just want to make sure of what we are getting ourselves into as far as compatibility and workflow.
    Thank you for your input.
    Randy

The license is transferred but there is an unspecified transition period during which you may continue to use older versions. The fact that you have clients with the older version means you’re still in a transition period.
    I still have CS3, CS4, C5 in addition to CS5.5 installed.

  • Upgrading from 15" MBP to 13" MBP (questions on Adobe CS/Microsoft)

    Hi there,
I have an existing MBP 15" running Snow Leopard that I use for work. I will be purchasing a new 13" from Apple which has Lion to replace my work computer. However, I will be keeping my 15" and would like to upgrade that to Lion (will purchase the Lion software). In addition, on my 15" I have Adobe CS4 and Microsoft Office 2008. I have purchaed the upgrade to Adobe CS5.5 and the new Office 2011 (finally with Outook) which I intend to use on both computers (this is all within the license agreements - installing on 2 computers used by the same user, but not running at the same time).
I basically want the 15" and 13" to mirror each other. I know I can do this with Migration Assistant, but I have questions on the way to prep the computers first before doing so (mainly my concern is tranferring Adobe CS programs versus installing them from the CDs and trasnferring from a Snow Leopard OS to a Lion OS). If anyone has any advice on the options I've listed below, I would really appreciate it. I also plan to post to the Adobe and Microsoft forums but thought I would start here first.
Option 1: Is it better to first upgrade EVERYTHING on the 15" and then use Migration Assistant to tranfser everything including apps to the 13"? This means on the 15", first upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion, then install the upgrade to Adobe CS5.5, install Office 2011 (transfer from Entourage email to Outlook) and then transfer everything to 13" new computer.
Option 2: Should I only upgrade the 15" OS to Lion and then transfer all the apps as is (Adobe CS4/Microsoft Office 2008) to the 13"? After the tranfsfer, then on both computers, I would install from the CDs the Adobe CS5.5 upgrade and Microsoft Office 2011.
Option 3: Should I just transfer everything as is (without upgrading first) from the 15" to the the 13"? This means after the transfer, on the 15" I would install Lion, then CS5.5 upgrade, then Office 2011 from CDs. Then on the 13", I would install from the CDs Adobe CS4, then CS5.5 upgrade, then Office 2011 (I don't really need 2008 on the 13" as this will be my work computer that I need Outlook for).
I'm also wondering in general regarding Entourage to Outlook if is better to do that transfer of email on my Snow Leopard computer first or Lion or does it really matter?
    Thanks so much in advance!

    Mid 2009 to 2011...
Will be a good test whether I/O trumps pure processing. Now, if the OP lucks out and gets the 13" when this year's iteration comes out (Ivy Bridge), then I'll raise the white flag and accept "upgrade".

  • Upgrading from 3.1 to 4.0 question

    Hello,
I have a client that is 3 hours away. They are currently using APEX 3.1 and I was thinking about seeing if I can upgrade them to APEX 4.0.
Is it possible to upgrade them remotely?
Their Oracle version is 10.2.0.2 and the docs say that 10.2.0.3 or higher is needed. So to confirm, they would need to upgrade Oracle to at least 10.2.0.3? Has anyone installed APEX 4.0 on Oracle 10.2.0.2 and were there any issues?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Joe,
It probably would fail, in looking at the version of the Database. Why play things normal, and have the client follow the documented procedure for updating to APEX 4.0. It will make their lives easier and also yours too..
    Thank you,

  • Upgrading from 5.1 to 5.2 question

We are currently testing 5.1.0.44.2.  Due to design problem in 5.1.0.44.2 that would allow us to implement the product with the wildcard functionality we have in 4.2, we werent able to roll this into production.  Had we known about this deficiency, we wouldnt have ordered the product.  After multiple TAC calls, we found out that a future release/update would have the wildcard function we needed.  Otherwise, we are looking at a significant configuration change to close to 500 devices firmwide.
I have been looking for the info on upgrading and dont see a clear path.  Do I download the FCS ISO for 5.2 and the latest patch to start with ?  Since we never went to production, is there an upgrade path that allows me to keep the installed license or do I just blow out what we have and then replace the license ?  Since we have smartnet on this, I am assuming that our existing license from 5.1 should work on 5.2 or will I need to get a new license from Cisco Licensing ?
    Thanks,
    Ron

    Base on the release notes
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/sw/5_x/nx-os/release/notes/52_nx-os_release_note.html#wp423588
You need to upgrade to 5.1.(3), and from there, the upgrade to 5.2.7 is supported using ISSU i assume. Worst case, the system will prompt you the the upgrade going to be distruptive or not before proceeding with the upgrade.
But in release note 5.1(X), it did not mentioned that upgrading from 5.1(2) will be distruptive or not since 5.1(2) has been deffered.
    Thanks
